The small room was professional but not sterile, carpeted in a very short pale green, and the examination table was a darker shade, and covered over in padded vinyl. The counter to one side was pale gray and held clear glass containers with everything from depressor sticks, to cotton balls, and even one containing suckers. The desk on the other side was made of wood, worn from years of use, and had a laptop on it, which was currently closed. The vertical blinds on the window were pulled across for privacy but left slightly turned so the sun could come in. The walls had posters describing things like circadian rhythms or diagramming the nervous system.
Angela smoothed down the front of her coat and surveyed her preparations, not that they had been much. Just a small tray with a pair of gloves, an iodine swab, a needle, a vial containing the vaccination and a bandaid. Now all that was to be done was wait for the child's arrival.
Maria, Angela thought to herself, and nodded with an absent sort of smile as she thought back on the information from the records.
A cheerful child, curious about new people, loves dragons. If the picture was correct, she seemed to have her scales mostly on her back and tail rather than all over, so this should be fairly quick and painless, she thought, and was glad she wouldn't have to try and maneuver the needle between scales. She was just idly checking her watch when she thought she might have heard something from the hallway. Could this be them?

There was the sound of feet, two sets, and then a thump against the door before a round of giggles could be heard, "Ahh! I did it!" Maria chirped, looking over her shoulder at the one following her, "I win, Daddy!" She told him, grinning away before she looked into the small room that they were visiting, eyes going wide, "Ohhhhh!" The room was, in Maria's mind, just plain wonderful! Everything was so nice and green! Green was the most wonderful color ever! Well, not the best, but it was tied as the best with purple!
After her came Orpheus Solon, her father and the skills teacher for the students of D-Corp. He was smiling in amusement at being beat in the foot race by his daughter, but then again it wouldn't really be right to try his hardest against someone her age, "Afternoon." He greeted Angela as he saw her, giving her a smile and a nod of his head.
Maria lifted a hand up to wave at her, "Hello, hello!" She greeted the woman, not having any shyness in her at all but then again she'd grown up in a big family so it was no wonder, "I'm Maria! This is my Daddy." She said, motioning at him with one hand, something that drew a chuckle from the redhead.
"I'm also called Orpheus." He told Angela, giving a laugh, obviously finding it funny that Maria was doing the introductions instead of him but she had gotten to it first, something he couldn't find himself upset about since it just meant that she was learning politeness, likely from Ligeia if anyone since he was so careful about teaching her that sort of thing in an attempt to balance out what she learned from her other brother.

Angela turned to face the door as it opened, a welcoming smile on her face. She chuckled as Maria took the lead, and waved hello to both of them.
"Hello, Maria, hello, Orpheus. I'm glad to see you today. You're here for vaccinations today, yes?" she confirmed with a question, though there really wasn't any other reason they would be here, was there?
She tilted her head and focused on Maria who seemed to be as forward and eager to meet new people as the information had said. That was always a joy when meeting new children.
"Well, now, are you ready, young miss?" she asked with a smile. "If you have any questions, I'm ready to answer," she asked, as she gestured to the examination table for her to climb up or be helped up by her father.

Maria took in a deep breath, let it out slowly, then nodded, "Yes, I am here for shots." She said, lifting a hand to pat her arm before she asked, "It doesn't hurt as much as a snake bite, does it? Teri said that it would, that it was like that then clicked his teeth together." While she wanted to be brave about it all she had see how big her brother's fangs were and she wasn't quite sure about what she thought about the idea about one of those getting stuck into her arm...
Orpheus gave a bit of a groan when she asked the question, making a mental note to tell Ter not to go around scaring his sister anymore... it wasn't exactly something he found amusing, not in the least, "Maria... you know that you shouldn't take everything he says to heart." He reminded his daughter.
The girl gave a nod, one ear twitching, her armored tail swishing from side to side, "Yeah... I know..." She said, then turned her bright eyed gaze back to the woman standing before her, waiting for an answer to her question from her. She would know best after all being the Doctor.

Angela's mouth formed a small 'o' of surprise.
"Of course it doesn't hurt as much as a snake bite!" she exclaimed, sounding almost flustered. She took a small breath and let it out, then continued more calmly, "It might sting a little, but it's very fast, especially when done by someone who knows how, like me. The needle itself is very small, not at all like a snake tooth."
Perhaps that was a bit too much information, or perhaps not, but it was now said. She thought for an instant, then put her hands on her knees and crouched a little, getting more to Maria's height, and looking the girl in the eyes.
"It will only hurt a very little, I promise," Angela said with a nod.

Maria gave a sighing sound of relief when she was told that it wouldn't be as bad as a snake bite, "Oh! Phew, that's good! Teri has really big teeth! I guess its a given though, hes a really BIG snake!" She threw her arms out to her sides, reaching out as far as she could to try to best describe how big her big brother was but she wasn't only able to reach out so far.
She gave a happy sound when the woman knelt down in front of her and reassured her that it would be alright, would only hurt a little, "I believe you, you see really nice like my other brother, Li!" She chirped, tail swishing for a moment before her before she turned slightly to give the woman her right arm, "I draw with my left can, can you shoot the right one?" She asked, not really thinking about how her wording might be a little off, being given a vaccination was a bit different then being shot after all.
After picking out which arm she wanted the shot in she squeezed her eyes shut and reached out to catch hold of her Daddy's hand with her left hand, clinging to it tightly, "Okay... ready..."

Angela smiled a little at Maria's sudden eagerness, though it was probably more just to get it over with than anything else.
"Certainly," she answered Maria's question. Since there was a possibility of soreness after, using the 'off' arm was usually recommended.
"Maria, honey... I need you to relax. When you're nervous, you'll tense up, and tensing up makes it hurt a little more," Angela explained as she put on the gloves and prepped the needle. At the moment she was holding an iodine swab in her hands, and she looked at Orpheus.
"Does she have any allergic reactions to iodine?" she asked.

Maria's tail set to swishing for a moment before wrapping around her midsection and she took in a deep breath, doing her best to relax as she didn't want to make it hurt anymore then it already would. It wasn't going to be as bad as a snake bite, that was good, so she should relax and let the nice lady get it done with, "Alright." She murmured, opening up one purple eye to look over toward her, at the swab that she was hold, looking curious as to what it was for, "Iodine?"
Orpheus gave a shake of his head, "Shes nod allergic as far as I know." He said, he wasn't informed of such when he figure brought the girl home with him so he was pretty sure that she should be alright when it came to the iodine. His attention then went to his daughter, watching how he was calming herself down and he couldn't help but to smile, "Your doing very good, Maria! Once we are done here how about we go and get some ice cream?" He suggested.
Said suggestion caused the girl to perk up, her ears giving a little twitch before she smiled, "Sounds good." As with most little kids it would seem that ice cream was a magical pair of words.

Angela nodded at Maria's question. "Iodine is used to make sure no germs get in," she explained, then listened to Orpheus' answer, nodding again.
Since she had been given the go ahead, she swirled the brown swab in a circle on Maria's upper arm, counting to twenty in her head before deciding it was enough. The iodine itself was cool, and smelled a little bit like finger nail polish remover, but not strongly. Angela tossed the swab in the trash can and picked up the needle.
"Okay, here we go," she said, and started counting down from three. "Three, two, one..." but she put the needle in on two, a quick, sure motion, knowing that the anticipation made people tense up. It was over in only a moment, and then the needle was back out and a cotton ball was being pressed to the area.
"There, all done!" she said, checking Maria visually to see if she had had any adverse reactions to the needle. Some people just couldn't handle needles.

Maria couldn't help but to watch as Angela wiped off the spot on her arm with the iodine, starring, then when the needle was brought closer she looked away and seemed to be waiting for it. The nice lady started to could and there was a slight p***k of pain and then... they were done?!
Her purple eyes got rather wide and she turned back to looking at her arm, looking almost as though she didn't quite believe it, "That was it?" She asked in a hushed manner, then gave a huffing sound, "Ah! Teri is so mean!" He'd made it sound as though it were going to be the most horrible thing ever! Made it seem as though she were going to feel as though she were chewed on by a snake and it was nothing at all! She was going to be sure to give him a kick in the coils when they got home!
Orpheus starred down at his daughter for a moment before he lifted a hand up to smother a laugh, unable to help it. She seemed so shocked that her brother had been teasing her, something you would think she would be used to by now after living with Terpsichore so long, "Yes, that was it. You did very good, Maria." He told her, giving her a smile.
The girl smiled up at him then nodded before looking over at Angela, "Thank you." She said, both for giving her the shot as well as being honest when she assured her that it wouldn't be so bad. It hadn't at all! Nothing like expected which had her smiling despite being miffed at Teri.

Angela removed the cotton ball after a few seconds to check for any blood. There was only a tiny spot, and so she replaced the cotton ball with a band-aid, nodding satisfaction as she finished.
She smiled at the amazement in Maria's voice, and agreed with Orpheus, "Yes, you did do very well. And you are very welcome, Maria."
"Since you did do so well," she added, and paused as she half-turned to gesture to the rearmost jar on the desk with a smile, "If your father says it's alright, you may take a sucker if you want one."

Maria's eyes turned to look at the jar of candy, eyes going wide, then she turned to look up at her Daddy in a hopeful manner, "Oh... Can I?" She asked, sounding excited, even from here she could see that there was a grape one! It was good not only for the flavor but also for the color, purple was one of her two favorite colors!
The red haired man seemed to think on it for a moment before giving a nod, "Sure, just one though." He reminded her.
The girl gave a happy sound before hurrying over to the jar, taking out the purple one from the jar then gave Angela a bright smile, "Thank you very much!" She chirped before heading back over to Orpheus, taking the man's hand in his, giving it a squeeze. She was ready to go, to be on their way to get ice cream as well as going to tell Teri that shots didn't hurt nearly as much as he'd said.
Orpheus gave a smile, "Alright, lets be off then." He said to Maria, looking over at Angela, "Thank you." He told her, gladdened by how kindly she'd treated his daughter before looking to Maria, "Say 'goodbye' now."
Maria looked up at him, candy already popped into her mouth, and she gave a nod as she pulled it out by the stick, "Goodbye!" She said, giving a bright smile and a rapid wave before they headed out.

Angela's eyes crinkled a bit at Maria's excitement over the sucker. "You are very welcome," she said, adding, "And so are you," to Orpheus, with a incline of her head and warm smile.
"Goodbye! Have a good day!" she said as they exited the room. She stayed behind for a bit to clean up, but then gathered her laptop and left as well, shutting the lights off behind her. There weren't any more appointments for today.
