Madness Levels

So excited about this part. Madness Levels; they're a part of everyone. Everyone is susceptible to Madness, but what matters is how well you can resist. As you know, Madness levels are affected by how often one comes into contact with the Kishin, or Kishin Eggs. As such, this will apply to all people, though Witches will be less susceptible to Madness than Meisters and Weapons. Read on to find out more!

How Madness Increases

Each Kishin egg has a predetermined Madness percent. For instance, a weak Kishin egg might have a 2% Madness percent, while a stronger one has a 10% Madness percent. It is in percent form for you to keep track. Each RPC will have a Madness level which they need to keep on track of somewhere in their post format or profile. For each Kishin Egg you come into contact with, whether you defeat it or not, you will add the Madness percent onto your own Madness level. If you get over 75% Madness level, then bad things happen. But that's later on ^^

For Witches, they are a bit less susceptible. For each Kishin egg a witch comes into contact with, the take HALF of the Kishin egg's Madness percent and add it onto their Madness level. Because in the series, Witches are less susceptible to Madness than the other characters.

Post this somewhere on your profile thread to keep track of your RPCs Madness Level, and update it often.

If you use a post format, please also keep track of your character's Madness below where you keep track of word count and the like ^^

How Madness Decreases

That's right, you're Madness level can decrease. As a Meister or Weapon, you can decrease your Madness level by training with ANY teacher. ANY teacher can help your Madness level decrease. After 2000 words of training (not counted towards stat word count ^^) your Madness level drops down to zero. (hence why you keep track of how many times you have recovered) This is recommended at about 60-70% Madness.

And I haven't come up with how Witches can reduce their Madness, but for now if your Madness does go that high just train for 2000 words on your own, same rules apply, and your Madness will drop to zero.

Also, really, really, REALLY weak Kishin Eggs will drop your Madness percent by negative numbers. If you face a Kishin Egg who is uber lame, then your Madness level, could, say, drop by -3%. Note that the negative Madness Level numbers will always be lower than the positive, so you it's more efficient to go by the other method. Except for Witches, who in this case have the negative number DOUBLED.

Consequences of a High Madness Level

If your Madness level goes to high, there are some severe downsides. First and foremost, your character is insane. Like really, really insane. If you don't pull off the insane well, you will be told by a mod to be more crazy. You can't be too crazy (see Maka Albarn's example) so just... Heheh... Go crazy with the crazy. Anyways, I will later detail the signs that go with each major percent of Madness.

Consequences. If you are a Meister or Weapon, and your Madness percent exceeds 75%, then you will forget who your partner is. Also, you will be forced to leave Shibusen and will no longer be a student. You may still level up, say if you're a Sophomore level to a Senior level, but you will no longer be a student. And unless your partner follows you and risks their own life (since you can't remember them) you will be partnerless. So unless you are of a Graduate rank or have obtained some abilities and are training to better use them, you won't be able to fight as well. Sad day.

If you are a Witch and your Madness percent exceeds 75%, the consequences are less severe. Since your Madness controls you, you will lose one magical ability and one concoction and will be unable to gain any new magical abilities.

For these reasons, many of your will choose to train to get rid of your Madness levels as soon as it hits 60% rather than risk these consequences.

Benefits of a High Madness Level

There are some benefits to having a high Madness level.

First, prerequisites: you have to have absolutely no conscious.

So having a high Madness Level doesn't get rid of any of the consequences. You still can't remember your partner. You're still kicked out of school. You still lose some Magical abilities. But there is a whole new world opened up to people with a high Madness Level. The only reason I say a prerequisite is to have no conscious is because it's really jerkish to leave your partner. Still, when you have a High Madness level, you gain three Madness abilities. You have to get them approved, but still. They can be more powerful than abilities gained through even training for solo abilities. BUT to avoid godmodding, you only gain three as you become insane and you cannot gain anymore. So is three abilities, THREE worth dumping your partner and the like...?

Salvation?

Is there a way to save yourself after going over the brink? There is, why yes there is. This is the reason I am really excited for Madness levels.

First, saving yourself requires you to have a strong bond with another RPC. They could be your partner, a good buddy, anything. Someone you have known since the beginning, or close to the beginning of the plot. Now, if you have such a person hold them close and listen to the next part, as they are necessary for ever recovering.

To save yourself, you must have this person who is close to you commune with your soul. Inside of yourself, there is a space where your little soul is sitting and is insane. For instance, the room inside of Soul in the series. Recovery requires this person who is close to you to literally enter into your soul and try to bring you back into sanity. Now, this may sound like a piece of cake, you may think, "Oh, I'll just have my partner come and drag me out of my crazy". Yeah, well it's not that easy. Not only are both of your bodies vulnerable to attack while this is occurring, but it also takes a really long time. A REALLY long time.

How long?

10,000 words between you and your partner.

What happens after that?

After you have been saved from Madness, your Madness level will NOT drop. Rather, you will lose TWO of your three abilities, but get to keep one as well as only being a bit touched in the head rather than totally crazy. In the next post, I will specify what each Madness percent means.

What Each Madness Percent Means

Please note that this is not exactly what has to happen, this is just a general idea of how the percentages relate

0% - Perfectly normal
10% - A bit... Off...
20% - Noticeably spacey/out of it
30% - Saying random statements
40% - Mumbling to self (not in a normal way)
50% - Talking to self (not in a normal way)
60% - Forgetting faces and people
70% - Entire memories vanishing
80% - All memories vanish
90% - Nervous system does not react properly with rest of body
100% - Just crazy. Pretty much no recovering here, all the symptoms of being totally and completely insane.
After Being Saved (from being over 75%) - Like Stein; you have all your memories but you're still pretty crazy

Soul Rooms and Demons

I couldn't help but notice that many weapons were posting in what they call their soul rooms in their weapon form. I already told Churro this, but THAT IS WRONG. Soul Rooms are related to Madness, as Soul only had a Soul Room after he got attacked by Crona and was infected by Black Blood/Madness. For this reason, Soul Rooms are going to be related to Madness. To make things more worth your while, I'm also going to add in a little demon.

Okay, so until further notice there will be no Black Blood. Because it's too easy to godmod. Until further notice, of course (if the mods come up with a good system, then there may be Black Blood).

On to Soul Rooms. How does this relate to Madness? Well, UNTIL YOUR MADNESS IS AT 25% YOU DO NOT HAVE A SOUL ROOM!!!!!!!. You are just floating around in nothingness, as the majority of the people in the series do. Of course, you can watch and you can post as though you are a spectator/fighting but not completely. Those of you who have already posted with a Soul Room YOU SHOULD STOP POSTING WITH A SOUL ROOM RIGHT AWAY! EVEN IF YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT. But after you reach 25% Madness, you can get a Soul Room, and customize it as you please.

Little Demons. I'm debating over this system. I think it will be related to Black Blood. But for now if your Madness goes about fifty percent, you can ask a mod to play a little demon inside your Soul Room if you are a Weapon. Note: A MOD MUST PLAY YOUR LITTLE DEMON. You can't RP it on your own. But ask any mod and I'm sure most of them would be willing.

That's it for this update, but remember that NO ONE STARTS OUT WITH A SOUL ROOM.
