I had a very interesting conversation with FD based on how FE12 is going to give everyone personalities and I'm going to demonstrate how lolwut they'd be if they base it 100% on their later incarnations. I personally disagree full out on it by the way, they're near faceless soldiers and they're meant to be like that.
I'm mainly going to base them on FE4, 5 6 as 5 has the best most lolwut version of the Talis Mercenaries and FE6 had the closest cast in general to FE1.
Also, please note: I'm going with FE1 so people like Frey (who apparently is the canon choice to make the Prologue IV sacrifice thus the lack of him in FE1 and 3), Norne, Nagi/Narga and Horace won't be present.
Chapter 1
Marth: A young boy who has a pure heart by nature, but due to political affairs, he is forced to take up a sword. He is often not confident about his age and skill with a sword and quite often needs morale support from his head tactician, Morodof to progress with his campaign.
Source: Leaf's insecurity and August's support.
Sheeda: Calm, loving and quite honestly, has no place on a battlefield, but that does not stop her for her love for Marth. Her skills really shine from her bravery and no fear of soldiers and because of that, she has developed a silk tongue to convince the most hardened of soldiers to join her cause. Unknowing to her, most of the men she recruits have won their hearts to her, but her feelings to Marth are too pure to realize.
Source: Lilina as well as the canon Sheeda.
Jeigan: A veteran soldier of Aritea and a good friend of Morodof, the two often quarrel, but all and all are best friends. His military tactics and vast knowledge make him a better tactician than a fighter however. His loyalty to Aritea has lead him to believe that if his death were to occur on the battlefield, as long as it was for Aritea, it would be an honour to him. Although Marth is technically the head of the Aritean army, the soldiers quite often look to Jeigan as the head.
Source: Dorias vs August, although quite honestly as I type this, Morodof would fit the Dorias incarnation, but Jeigan has his spirit so I'm sticking with Dorias as Jeigan. Also Evayle and the Fiana Militia vs Leaf.
Abel: A womanizing soldier who has joined the ranks in search for a beautiful woman(s) to marry. Book II spoilers: -> upon marrying Est, he felt he deserved more and begun to have an affair with Paola, however karma's a b***h and Est found out and left him leaving him to hide away from society forever.
Source: The usual horny green social as well as Book II canoness and a speculation on his Book II ending.
Kain: A loyal soldier to Aritea and often sees himself as a big brother figure to Marth. Was trained under the great Jeigan and quite often thinks of himself helping his old commander out rather than protect Marth.
Source: Finn and Cuan and the usually uptight red Social.
Doga: A giant among men and although his is a big man, his heart and compassion towards his fellow soldiers is undying. The group often sees him as the "go to" sort of guy whenever they need advice. He is more often than not in charge of keeping Abel in line and offering further support of the not so confident Marth when Morodof isn't on the battlefield.
Source: Bors (Ashtor support confirmed my "go to" part) as well as his gentle portrait and the Intro chapters when he offers support to Marth on the ship to Talis.
Gordon: You thought Marth had no confidence? Gordon is just a hair less confident than Marth. With the combination of the giant Doga as well as the sea of mounted units, Gordon feels like he's both physically frail and slow at combat. He is often seeing talking and training with Jeigan in hopes one day he'll be at least half of Doga's size and have the skill of Sheeda and the strength of Kain. Oh yes, and his humiliating capture of the escape to Talis messed with his confidence just a bit more.
Source: FE11 canoness and Wolt's support with Marcus.
Riff: A gentleman of Talis and for the sake of his people, he joined Princess Sheeda and her purge of the Garda Pirates. He is another "go to" guy being a highly religious man and all.
Source: A combination of Ronan who joined the Fiana Militia to rid the pirates from his village and the respectful religious man Father Claude is.
Chapter 2
Alright, here's where things get really LOLWAT, I had a really fun time linking the Purple Dragon Bandits to the Talis Mercenaries and I even thought of logic on Kashim's case, I hope you enjoy! xD
Oguma: The head of the Talis Mercenaries and an interesting man at that. His skill with a sword and loyalty towards Talis may be, there is a lot more to him than meets the eye. For one, he is very fond of children and more often takes jobs for the sake of protecting the young ones. He is also known to have really bad luck when it comes to women.
Source: Book II from saving Yubello and Yumina as well as Dagda and his protection of his daughter and Marty and being the leader of the Purple Dragon Bandits. Woman wise- speculation on his Book I and II ending.
Barts (oh laud, here it comes guys): The second in command of the Talis Mercenaries and younger brother of Maji and Saji. Oguma rescued the three when they were children and quite often thinks of the three as his sons, although some may speculate there is more with Barts and Oguma..
Source (READ!!)- Marty's ending as well as since Marty is the only other Axefighter who isn't in charge, that leads Barts to fill his shoes to be "The Man Oguma Loved". Also, since Othlin ends up marrying Tanya, Oguma's fatherly love for his squad fits perfectly as of course Dagda would think of Othlin as his son. I could have made him into Thany, but I'd rather not have him in a gay incest threesome sausage fest with his brothers. :/
Maji: The eldest of the Axefighter brothers and because of that, he is quite a fowl mouth to display his dominance over his younger brothers. Is not artistic at all and just wishes to get the job done more often than not.
Source: Othlin full out as well as Maji's FE3 ending after FE1 when he became a fisherman.
Saji: The middle child of the Axefighter brothers and the smartest. In war, he is the one who keeps Maji in line and is very loyal to Oguma. Oguma and him are the ones who plan the assaults more often than not.
Source: Havan vs Othlin and his loyalty towards lady Evayle.
Daros: A man of the seas who once did things without question, however, after Marth's assault of Garda, he begun to question his life and then joined the Aritean army to make up for the things he once did.
Source: Semi based on Rifis without the Safy motivation, but that's because Daros had his own motivation that quite honestly fits more and is of course canon.
Kashim (shut it mad ): A swindling slime of Garda who likes to rip people off displaying the figure of a nice guy when in reality, money is his motivation. In Book II, Oguma thinks of him as his son (if you want to be technical and weird, that'd make him the Tanya so therefore, Maji's husband later on in life?)
Source/logic: Book II and his humourous recruitment scene with Marth. Logic-wise? Oguma was protecting the village he was in whilst protecting Yubello and Yumina, maybe he knew Kashim was in that village all along and wished to protect him? Also, we sort of needed a Tanya to balance out the Dagda Oguma better. Whilst we're on that note: maybe Oguma has a thing for blue haired people? xD
Marth: Loyalty
Sheeda: Creepy semi-canon love interest
Barts: FE5's law of DagdaxMarty
Kashim: To fill Tanya's shoes and perpetuating his fetish for blue haired people?
