Mudslide wanders down the path, a well worn one close to her den, bored out of her mind. The kids were gone, grown and on their own. A new obsession has taken the place of her last, to track traits that pass from parent to children. A lack of bucks has put a temporary stop to this, until she can find a buck at least.
That's part of the reason Mud is leaving home. The other is to find more of her family, look over the parents and their children. Or at least get back to Rat, Shard and Hop, see if any of them have kids. Especially Hop. Mud will have a bit of gloating to do there. She hoped. As much as she wants her cousin to have children, Mud hopes she's won the race to kids.

Fiend’s fevered sprint cut through the night air as his surroundings all but peeled back to give way. He was always in the fire of the night—recoiling in fun and in plain sight. He jumped from his high point to settle onto the giving ground with a solid thump. His two favorite things: heights and soft things. He was exhilarated from head to toe despite the absence of the moon.
New terrain, new fun, he mused.
In his peripheral vision he caught something glowing. Oh, it’s a leg. He shifted, his eyes becoming predatory despite the cascade of pink.

Mud heard him before she saw him, though she didn't see him well when she did. Except his eyes and hair. Both shone out against darkness and she cursed the moonless night for obscuring the rest of him. Still a buck is a buck, she thinks. And a buck is just what she's looking for. At least Mud hopes he's a buck. The size is right, there may be other burly does but she'd never seen a female Kimeti who's as tall as a buck. "Hello." she says, walking closer, hoping to get a better look at him.

Its voice rang out.
Female.
He flat out ignored her, opting to wait. He kept his posture loose in case he would have to move quickly, the adrenaline rush he got from leaping was still going strong. Even though he was still, his heavy beating heart gave him away. Casually he shook his hair covering most of his face. Was this her land? Maybe she would go away and leave him to his own merrymaking.

Showing no regard for personal space Mud walks right up to him. Nose to nose in fact, so close their snouts practically touch, her blue eyes looking into his gold. "What's the matter? Am I too much woman for you?" she asks, adding a teasing edge to her challenge.
