Shi'Kahana trotted along happily, yet attempted to keep her thoughts focused on the job ahead. It had been recently that she'd found the herd of WoW companions, after months of searching, and had settled happily into a guardian role. Her days consisted on controlling certain portions of the territory, at which she willingly did, and conversing with her fellow herd members. She had taken a liking to this group life after her long period of loneliness--she had never been one to like solitude anyway.
She turned to glance at her companion, the stallion known as Moam. She had come to know him through bits and pieces of interactions and conversations, but she was honored to be on an actual outing with him. He seemed an honorable and intelligent stallion, one who held his beliefs in his heart and put his herd's life before his. He reminded Shi of herself.
"I wonder if we'll finally be able to test our strength today!" she said, scanning the treeline for potential dangers. So far, nothing had revealed itself. She knew that it was best, but found herself wanting to prove her loyalty to the herd.
Not far off, in the shade of a dense copse of pines, Ominos sat watching, his nose wrinkled in distaste. He recognized the brawny mare that was loping along next to the strange stallion--she had annoyed him some months back, calling him a "dragon" or something of the like, and accusing him of being part of some horde. She hadn't left him alone, and he had finally chased her off, not doing much damage but persuading her to never come back. Now here she was again, and seemingly unaware. He felt like killing her outright--just the sight of her made his ears flatten in anger. One so annoying should not be allowed to live!
The day was a bright one, and the light stung his sensitive eyes, sending a searing migraine to his head. Perhaps, if he had been well, he would have left the two horses alone and went on his way. However, the strong headache was making his blood boil, and he knew that he needed to exert some of his anger. These two seemed like a good target.
He moved forward, not quite in sight, but far enough to easily jump out of the trees at the opportune moment.

Moam bobbed his head in agreement, "I really do miss having a good fight. The peace that's fallen on the herd is definitely a good thing, but... I don't know, I guess I miss the adventure and the adrenaline." He turned his head and smiled at the mare beside him. This was the first time he was out on patrol with her and was finding it quite enjoyable. She appeared much like him; strong of body, mind and heart. Both noble and giving.
"Plus I have grown to be a tad fat and lazy!" he chuckled loud and deep. Now a days he had grown happier being with the herd. The lingering heart stings of his past now only making themselves known every once in awhile. Living in a beautiful oasis with his son and other companions, what could be better?
However, something was different about today. The birds weren't singing and he could not hear the rustle of woodland creatures in the trees. The absences began to concern him. "Is it just me, or is it really quiet out today?" he asked, beginning to slow his pace.

Shi'Kahana giggled at his statements, glancing over at the large stallion. "Fat and lazy? You're still in prime shape, just largely built. Believe me, I've seen worse." She smiled brightly, thinking the same of herself. Some prissy mares might have called her fat, but she was simply large-framed and had well-developed muscles. She'd like to see some gossip-eater fight off a Kalona like she once did. Though her armor was heavy and her coat was dull, the price was cheap for her constant readiness to battle.
Her head swiveled to the trees, noticing the lack of singing songbirds and the dwaddling of small woodland creatures. Moam was right--it was extremely quiet, especially for a heavenly place like this. Something was amiss.
"You're right. The usual sounds are absent. But what has upset these creatures? I see nothing..." Though right as she spoke, a golden flash came from the trees to their side, and before she knew it, a large Kalona dashed out, nearly grabbing her flank with his dagger teeth. She dodged, swirling to look at the attacker.
HIM!
Ominos had waited long enough. As soon as the mare was close enough, he jumped from the trees, teeth exposed in a feral snarl. His attack was fairly messy--the sun was bright and prevented him from pinpointing a target as he transitioned from shadow to light. He would have grabbed her exposed side, just under her armor, if she hadn't had dodged. But instead, he ran right past, shoulder bumping the hindquarters of the winged stallion. He turned quickly, hooves digging ruts in the earth, his tail whipping behind him.
"You! Foolish, idiotic, annoying, incessant mare that you are! Come and face me, and see how well you can really fight!" he spat, eyes narrowing. He glanced at the stallion--the mask seemed to be his only form of armor, and beside his large size, he seemed an unlikely deadly warrior. He would deal with him when the time came--right now, his hatred was focused on the mare.
"And you, stallion--if you value your life, you will leave while I am focused on other matters!"

Moam laughed along with her, "Well thank you, but i believe i have gained some. I already feel tired and the day is still young." He would never admit it, but he was having a little bit of trouble keeping up with the pretty, young mare. Never the less, he would push himself to the limit to not be viewed as weak or slow. His pride would never allow that!
He was about to open his mouth and offer a few explanations that he thought of, when the large Kalona appeared and answered the riddle himself. The attempted attack on Shi'Kahana angered him greatly, and he shrugged off the feeling of being run into. He glared, eyes piercing as the stallion spewed insults at Shi.
"I hardly believe that you can so much as hurt me, let alone kill me-" he spoke deep and slow, allowing a threatening tone to creep into his voice. He knew what he said was false, an angry Kalona can do quite a bit of damage and kill if it wanted to. "-and the insulting is uncalled for. I suggest you apologize and leave. Wouldn't want to scar up your beautiful hide now would we?"
Moam found himself stepping in front of the mare. He knew that she could handle herself well, he just didn't want to risk her getting hurt when he could do something about it. Head raised high and wings flared, he attempted to look larger and more dangerous. Hopefully the other stallion would be discouraged.

Shi'Kahana was amazed to see the Kalona stallion again. She winced at his insults, though knew deep down that she might have deserved some of them... When she had first come to this land, she hadn't realized the wide variety of Soquili that roamed the landscape. He had looked like some Hoarde dragon, and she had tried to fight him, not believing him when he tried to tell her different. She had been confused, after all, but she had almost paid dearly for it. She was grateful that her armor had withstood the Kalona's powerful jaws.
"Moam!" she gasped when he brought his body to stand before her. She would have willingly fought the kalona, confident in her skills. But the protective action that he had just shown both warmed her and concerned her--it was the kindest thing anyone had done for her, yet Moam had limited armor and she didn't want him to get seriously injured.
"We can fight him together! Let me help you!" she exclaimed, stepping out to his side. She lowered her head, brandishing her horns, ready for attack.
Ominos jeered at the stallion, feeling oddly amused at his antics. Ah, so he cared for the idiotic mare? Then let them die together! He had no use for the fools who inhabited the mountains he loved, and there seemed to be quite an abundance of them lately.
He had to admit, the winged stallion was almost as large as he, and might prove a worthy opponent, along with the horns and bulk of the female. But he still had no armor covering his body, and Ominos was confident that a strong bite to the neck should do him in.
"I've killed more than my share of weaklings," Ominos growled, his hooves stamping into the earth. "And I have no need to apologize. My insults are the truth!"
He stalked forward, tail snapping. "Besides, my hide has plenty of scars. What's a few more?" He leapt forward, maw open, ready to sink his teeth into the stallion's hide.

Moam stepped to the side to allow her a better angle at the kalona. Turning his head he looked at her and spoke low, "Only if your sure." Sure, Moam had had his fair share of fights, but he had never fought a kalona before, having rarely come across one in the first place. However, he wasn't about to shrink away from the uncertain. After all this had been what he wanted right? A good fight to liven things up? Now he truly understood the old saying; Be careful of what you wish for. It might just come true.
Oh well, he had never been one for following old mare's tales. Following the mare's lead Moam lowered his head as well, he needed to protect as much of his neck and shoulders as possible for he was not as well outfitted at Shi was. Scars littered his tough hide from past 'unfriendly' encounters. "Be careful, Shi. If it starts getting bad I want you to go warn Ironforge and the others. We...we can't risk the herd." He spoke soft, only to be heard by her.
Moam huffed, loud and strong, his nostrils flared in his helm. His mind wandered to his son, the other herd-mates and Shi. He couldn't live with himself if he let this tough guy hurt them. "I assure you that I'm no weakling. I also can promise you that you will leave with more than just scars, my friend."
As the stallion lunged, Moam had but a few seconds to decide what to do. Turning his hindquarters away from attack, he attempted to smash his mask into the kalona. If all went well it would absorb most of the blow.
