I got Photoshop CS4 recently, and I'm a terrible noob... Could someone give me links to good tutorials, references, anything!

One thing i really want to know is how to make the blush like that instead of a simple brush stroke. I play around with opacity, and different brushes, but I still can't seem to get that fading blush effect. I heard it has to do with the multiply layer setting, but i'm still lost.

Any helpful hints are greatly appreciated <33

i got photoshop cs4 a little while ago, too. I mostly watched videos on Youtube to help me. there are really a lot. and they really helped me, too. I'm not gonna act like I'm an expert, though, cause I'm not, but I am getting better.

For blush like that all you do is put a bit of the color you want on a separate layer (just a blotch, don't use too much and don't cover the whole area you want blushed!), then take double or triple sized blur brush and go over it in a circle one at a time.

If that doesn't make sense I can show you on livestream too. :3

I'm sorry, but photoshop is so confusing and it's basically the same as SAI
except more filters and automatic shapes. I guess I'm a little bias
though. I've used photoshop maybe 3 times.
But honestly, there are so many programs that you can get that are just as good.

just a rant feel free to ignore this post XD.

But as a tack on question, what's the difference between CS4 and CS5?
and which one is easier to use? I guess I'm a little curious.

When it comes to basics PS and SAI are essentially the same, but when you get into more advanced things PS has more options.

But, it is Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI, so there's that.

Between CS4 and 5 they've updated a lot a tools and functions, as well added new ones. For example, CS5 has auto lens correct, straightening tool, a masking thing I'm not sure what it's called, and a brush mixer to name a few.
I also like the UI better too. And I believe that the 3D is new as well?

Oh ya, I see where you're going. That's kind of why I felt like I was just ranting. I always here people saying they photoshopped pictures but I never here any other program. Well good thing I'm not a photographer right XD?

Anywho, 3D? that sounds pretty wicked. o-o does that just... i don't even know what that would mean XD.

Pale Kid in Red

One of my friends is a photographer, and at his job they just gave him a new 3D camera to play with. Works the same as a real camera, just the pictures it takes can be viewed in 3D. I assume that the 3D option in photoshop is so you can edit those photos without loosing the 3D.

It's pretty wicked awesome.

Like its been said before, there are just a lot of updates in CS5, but there are so many new features and tools.
There is puppet warp (basically you select a section of an image that you want to transform and it will alter that section only and leave the background alone) and there is a content-aware cloning tool where you can just highlight a section of an image that you want to eliminate and the program will mask it automatically to match the background surround that section. There are also many more painting effects for brushes and automatic lens correction for images that become warped due to certain lenses (such as a fish eye effects when you don't really want them). Other than that, CS5 has just been updated with better HDR imaging capabilities and RAW file processing as well as a faster performance ability.

I know that abduzeedo.com and photoshopcafe.com have quite a few tutorials all for beginners to intermediate levels.

No problem ^^ I've been using photoshop for a few years now and I have to say it is my favorite (even though I haven't used SAI) just because it has so many features and capabilities. Hope you start to feel the same way : )
