Kaydon rubbed a knuckle against his chin, eying the door and the worksheets before him. His recent students had mostly been reptiles, and he wasn't complaining, although he'd be surprised if none of them had. Teenagers didn't like school, that was a fact of life, but he felt as if he was somehow failing them. Why teach a child about amoebas when they didn't care at all about it? This would be his first attempt at custom-tailoring his class and, considering the student, he had a bit of genetic curiosity in her as well.

Fixing her small backpack on her shoulders, Tryst slowly opened the door to the biology classroom, poking her head around the frame first and studying the mostly epty classroom, before sliding the rest of herself in. She was on time, she thought she was at least. She hoped so. Rysha woke her up this morning and prepared a light breakfast, before escorting the small snake girl to D-Corp and the appropriate classroom. Her mother had given her a hug goodbye at the door, before quick walking away. The empty hallways here seemed to make her a little uncomfortable, so she rarely lingered if she didn't have to.
Tryst hoped she was prepared. This class was definitely different then her other one with Mr. Solon. She had a notebook and pencils in her backpack, and a small textbook on basic biology that Rysha had had tucked away somewhere. She had stuffed it into the child's backpack that morning, with a grin and a wink saying "It couldn't hurt."
She hoped not. She slithered up towards the teachers desk, Mister...Kaydon? That's what the note about the class had said, or so Rysha said at least.
"Hullo, I'm Tryst. Are you the biology teacher?" It said so on the door, but it didn't hurt to ask still, right?

Kaydon stood when the girl entered, having watched her say goodbye to her mother outside the door. He offered his hand to her and nodded, giving a smile.
"Yes, I'm Kaydon. Please, choose any seat you like," he replied, gesturing to the small classroom. He rarely had more than one student at a time. "Have you learned much about leucism?"

She shook his hand briefly, raising herself up on her tail a little so she could reach over his desk, and then retreated to one of the seats in the front row. It didn't take her long to settle in and get a notebook out.
At his question, she frowned, her brow furrowing. "Loo-sism, it's when snakes and stuff are born white and have no color. Like me." Tryst said, trying to remember what it was described to her as. It was mentioned to her once, briefly, and she couldn't remember the big words. "Like being albino... but for reptiles?" She trailed off hesitantly, unsure of the comparison.

"Mmm... almost," Kaydon replied, smiling sweetly. "I'd be careful using the word 'albino'! There are still albino reptiles, you know, pink eyes and transparent scales... but you? You're special. Leucism means you aren't totally without pigment, you only have certain pigments... like your eyes, for example."
He approached the girl as he said this, slipping her a sheet comparing an absolutely albino snake and one with blue eyes and a few scales of black.

"So, pigments are colors then?" Tryst asked as she looked down at the sheet. One snake was albino, mainly white scales with a little bit of patterning barely visible, the other looked similar to her with vivid blue eyes and her scale colors.
"Do reptiles come in other colors too? Besides loo-sism an' albino an' regular colors?" She looked back up at the teacher, pale eyes wide with curiosity. She wished Emmet were here, it would be neat to learn about themselves with each other.

"Yes, they are," Kaydon grinned. He could be jumping off the walls and whooping with glee, frankly. A student who was actually interested?!
"Yes, of course, there are many colors. A garter snake can be almost any color with dozens of patterns, but all in all it is still a garter snake. There are usually words before it; red-spotted, yellow-throated, double-striped. You'd be 'leucistic', which frankly is an extremely popular and rare coloration."
