The young lioness lay stretched out in the morning sun. “Mmm.” Rolling over on her side she let out a sigh of contentment as the warmth tingled through her fur. It felt so nice out today! Honestly she couldn’t even worry about him – though wasn’t thinking about him just now worrying? Luti frowned. Well that wasn’t working.
Perhaps talking to someone else would help? The female sighed; she really didn’t feel like moving from this spot though. Not to mention that she would feel bad if she disturbed anyone that wanted to be left alone. “Jeesh, Luti!”
Nearby a green leopardess was also enjoying the sun. Or at least taking a break from her ‘cubs’ who were finally getting old enough to make their own place in the world. Or at least in the pride. What a weird thought that was. Mihika smiled as she tried to imagine them all acting as adults. It just didn’t’ seem to register with her. Maybe it was a mother’s thing to always see the cub behind the grown feline?
Talking about cubs...Mihika laughed in light amusement as she noticed the younger banu lying about. “Are you nervous about something, Lutifiya?” She asked with a small smile. Though she had never personally talked to the Sultan’s daughter before, the leopardess easily recognized her.
Luti nearly jumped in surprise at the sudden approach of another Banu from her pride. Who was this again? The lioness felt shy and embarrassed for not automatically recognizing the leopardess until she remembered. “Banu Mihika?” That was right, wasn’t it? The leopardess who came with cubs. Cute little leopards, though at the time they came she was just barely an adolescent herself.
That seemed so long ago now. Yet the young lioness couldn’t help but to slightly envy Mihika. What was it like to live all by yourself out there in the rogue lands? She probably had so many adventures…
“Not nervous really.” She started with a small sigh, “Just thinking about some things. I really can’t seem to get it off my mind.” She pouted and looked to the sky before glancing back at the leopardess, “Have you ever had that problem before?”
“Yup, that’s me.” Chimed Mihika before flopping down beside the lioness. Something about her showed that she was a rogue before, there was that spark – a tiny insight to the wild feline that had been out there beyond the pride, that would have never given it up save for one thing. And so here she was living with the lion that she was so fond of.
“Oh really?” Mihika tilted her head before grinning, “Yes. Though it depends on what you may be thinking about.” The leopardess couldn’t help but to tease the lioness, “Seems like you may be thinking about a Pad perhaps? Is it perhaps one who is soon going to leave for their banu seeking journey?”
Luti smiled. So she had guessed right. At least I can remember things. She joked silently with herself before gasping at Mihika’s question, “No-no! I still am with my father’s harem.” She shook her head, “Umm…though yes, but not-not like that! We’re just close. I was just hoping that he has a good successful journey.” Admittedly some days she felt like it might become more when he came back. One day.
“Ah. I see.” Mihika looked over the lioness with a small smile –was that a bit of sympathy there?- and shook her head, “So you’re in the middle of finding love or at least a new owner.” She sounded happy with the first of the sentence but the last was rough, a bit worn down, “I’m sure you’ll be happy when it happens though. You seem like too good of a soul to be treated any differently. Not to mention that you’re a jewel as well.”
Luti could see how much it hurt the leopardess to see some of the banus just being handed over to other Pads. The cruel ones. Not like she saw many here in this pride! All of the ones she spoke to were usually happy with everything. For that she was glad. Though she couldn’t help but to shiver as her past worries came back. What if he didn’t want her? Where would she go then?
It was okay, he would come back for her. He would have to. She sighed, he wasn’t even gone on his journey yet and here she was worrying about this. Oh why couldn’t they just be playful cubs again with no real worries in the world? She missed it. “Hopefully.” She looked over at the leopardess, “What about you? How do you find this pride?”
Mihika’s tail lightly flicked against Luti’s side, “I can see the worry in your eyes.” She commented lightly, “Don’t worry so much about it. Let what happens, happen. Hold on tight enough and maybe you’ll get what you want in the end.”
Mihika laughed at the lioness’s question, “How do I find the pride? Interesting to say the least.” Her gaze softened and unconsciously she sought out her Pad’s den, “I may not agree with everything, but I would never leave as long as Obadias is here with me.” Focusing back on Luti she gave her a look that said, Do you honestly believe I would have allowed myself to get captured otherwise?
Luti shook her head, “So even a rogue can fall in love then?” She joked lightly and watched as the other banu’s expression softened back in laughter. It was nice though, sounded like a fairy tale. To give up so much for the one you love. She sighed wistfully. But maybe Mihika was right, in the end it would all be okay after all. “Thank you, Mihika.” She whispered with a warm smile, the first one that day which was not forced.
“Well what are you still doing here?” Mihika rose and bumped the lioness lightly, “Go find him and wish him good luck. I know you want to talk to him before he leaves.” She smiled, “I’ll see you again, Lutifiya.” The leopardess laughed quietly to herself as the young banu nodded and started to run the other direction.
She was going to do it! She just had to talk to him one more time before he left. Really she was glad she had spoken with the other banu.“Oh!” Luti paused and looked back at Mihika, “You may call me Luti if you wish, Mihika!” She called out before turning back and disappearing from the leopard’s sight.
Mihika laughed, “Alright then. G’luck, Luti.” She really hoped that things worked out for the young banu. It would be a shame to see tears falling from such clear, happy eyes after all. Well at least she was smiling again now. Mihika noted with pleasure.
