It had only been three days since that incident in the ocean where afterward he had revealed a small fraction of his past to Prisca. Three hellish days that Xero could have sworn to have been twice as long. There was little he could do. Every time he rose to his feet he could feel all the energy flee from his legs leaving him on the floor once again. Sleep came even less easier. Every time he managed to close his eyes for even a moment a coughing fit would send them open again.

At this point it was more sleep deprivation than the actual illness bringing him down. He had managed to get some water from the snow still sitting on the balcony. But he rarely ventured to do so. The cold from the outside was like a sharp bite about his whole body, unpleasant and super affective. ( hur )

Around noon Xero hand managed to move himself from the upper room to downstairs back into the office room with the stove-fireplace. Three days with little but a shredded blanket to keep warm was taking its toll. After any attempts to get a fire going, and a few under the breath curses, a steady fire was set and he placed himself on the floor in front of it. Slowly his tail curled limply around his legs as he shivered. His fingers moved to the charm on his necklace as he rubbed the smooth surface gently. He had now done that on several occasions when he felt distress, it brought a small bit of relief. More so than his previous subconscious action of letting black bolts jump across his knuckles...

Since that very cold dip in the ocean, Prisca had only suffered very mild reactions. Having her body covered shortly after getting her dress so wet had saved her from anything worse than a little cough and stuffy nose. Fortunately for her, this had only lasted a day. She had taken that day to stay home from work. Being the boss, no one had a problem with that. She already did a lot of work as it was. With the customs and filling in for girls who couldn't make it. The woman worked very hard on her business. Very hard indeed.

Now she was back at the shop, halfway through her shift with two other girls. One was being trained to work the register and deal with the jewelery. She was never as comfortable not being around when someone was being trained to work in her shop. She was about to show the new girl the different cut of diamonds in the rings, when she felt that familiar prickling in the back of her mind. Excusing herself, she walked outside and looked up at the sky. It wasn't a feeling of his being close. Something else. Like with the nightmares. The calling that had woken her at night. Something was bothering him. And she didn't want to ignore it, this time.

Quickly telling the girls she had business elsewhere to attend to and grabbing her purse(she could always come back later for the jacket), she walked back outside, put the bag over one shoulder, and teleported a few times. To make sure she was going the right way. On the last one, she focused on where she felt he was and made one last jump...

To appear a few feet directly behind him. Teleport was one move she was good at using, at least.

After taking in Xero's form sitting on the floor, she took one step forward, heels clicking on the floor, to simply ask one question, "What's wrong, Xero?" concern heavy in her voice.

Xero shivered when Prisca entered the room via teleport. More so from the chills that constantly ran down his back despite being in front of the fire. As he turned his head a terrible coughing fit seized hold of him once more and he quickly turned away, pressing his blanket covered arm over his mouth as he did so. A pale blue aura flickered around him as the room groaned. The fire promptly was snuffed out and in the library across the hall a loud crashing noise could be heard as one of the book shelves toppled over. Xero could only guess how many were left standing now.

His tail coiled tightly around itself as he looked into the now empty stove.
"Ms. Prisca-" His voice hoarse and abruptly cut off by another coughing fit. This time the fireplace stove cracked than burst on the side spilling ash on the floor.

He pulled the tattered blanket tighter around himself and this time refused to look back at the other mewtwo. It was bad enough being in such a state, feeling weak was definitely something he was not found of. His cheeks were warm and red, his brow covered with sweat, and his eyes were quite heavy from the lack of sleep.

"Ms.Prisca..." He started again. "You should not be here..." A smaller cough started before he could explain why. Luckily nothing fell, cracked, or exploded this time.

The Mewtwo neither flinched nor turned her attention from the sickly form before her. All she did was bit her bottom lip. Her? Leave? Not when he was in this state.

"Ah. I see what's going on," was all she said before turning from him to lay her purse on the sofa. Without another word, she vanished, back to her own house where she gathered a bunch of supplies into a large carrying bag. Utterly calm, she knew what she was going for and was back in her previous spot in Xero's house within 10 minutes, a large-and not holey-blanket slung over her shoulder. Dropping the bag on the floor, she walked over to Xero and placed it around his shoulders.

"Why would I leave?" she questioned, looking over the damage to the stove. Pity she didn't know how to fix it. Perhaps she could work around it somehow. "I doubt you know how to make yourself get better." Still standing behind the man, she continued to bite her lower lip. Tape, maybe. Just enough to keep anything from falling out. Reaching behind her, she took out a roll from her bag and plastered a few pieces across the hole in the stove. With the hole patched up, she went about throwing in kindling underneath the wood and started the fire back up. Closing the door, she turned back to Xero, now standing in front of him with her hands on her hips.

"You shouldn't be on the floor in your condition. Come." She held out her hands, inviting him the help to get up and stay up. "I have some things that should make you feel better."

When Prisca vanished he only looked back at the area she had been with utter confusion. He had opened his mouth to say something, but she had already left. The gaping mouth was once again full of a multitude of coughs and he quickly turned around to bury his face in the blanket. Another shelf in the next room could be heard toppling over with the addition to something in the entry way splintering. Xero sighed as the coughing settled again. He sat there for the ten minutes Prisca was absent staring blankly into the empty and now broken stove. He was already beginning to notice just how much the fire had helped comfort him.

When Prisca returned he flinched and curled his tail against his leg. Xero could offer no protest to her statement. He had no idea what was going on and had little knowledge on how to make it better. One could easily argue that he had made it worse by being curled up on the top floor near the open balcony for the past three days. The warm blanket was nice and it was good to see the fire going once again.

Xero looked up at Prisca borderline pathetically as she stood over him with her hands on her hips. He felt like a child. His eyes were slightly glazed over from the coughing fits and the lack of sleep. At first her hands went ignored. He already felt helpless being in such a state and the stubborn side of his programing would not allow for further embarrassment. He wobbled to his feet like a newborn foal, almost falling twice, before he mindlessly took hold of Prisca's warm hands. His own were very cold and quite clammy. His grip tightened, not uncomfortably, without him realizing on Prisca's hands. They mere touch was as soothing as the warm blanket.

"What is wrong with me?...." He asked after being safely seated on the couch and suppressing a few more coughs.

The affect of having his hands in hers was just as strong for the other person involved. It confused her for a second as she went through the motions of helping the man to the couch. It wasn't the first time they held hands. Not that they made a habit of it. In fact, the last time she remembered it was at Christmas, under the mistletoe. When her hand had been kissed. The thought brought a warmth to her cheeks and a slight smile to her lips that was quickly caught. Frowning, she shook her head to focus on the task at hand. Why think about that now? And why did it make her feel warm in more than her cheeks?

Prisca made sure the edges of the blanket were tugged in around Xero before she looked at him with an almost motherly smile. "Nothing. You're just sick. Likely from walking around with no shirt after that dip in the ocean." Once she made sure he was comfortable, she went behind the couch to where her rather large bag was. Carrying it over, she propped it besides her purse on the cushions, rummaging through it. Out came a small kettle, mug, box of pills, and a few bottles of water. Looking around the room for a few seconds, the woman shrugged her shoulders and poured the water into the kettle. Holding it by the handle before her, she balanced her palm underneath it, heating it with her powers instead of running around the house to get hot water.

"Rather nasty cold, though. What were you doing?" Holding out the mug and a pill, she waited for Xero to take it. "It won't make you sleepy. Just help with the symptoms. I do have something to help with sleep if it's not just your cold that's keeping you up."

Luckily for Prisca Xero was too distracted by his ailment to notice her fluttering. He soon as he was on the couch his head begun to swim, painfully so. More spinning than before.

He took the mug quietly, still not wanting to protest any actions he had taken three days prior. His head hurt too much still to argue anything, not that he could argue. The past few days he had been very careless without realizing the damage it had been doing.

The pill rolled about in his shaking palm a little before he took it with a drink of the warm water. He gagged on the water, spiting some up on the floor away from Prisca. At least the pill did not come up, instead he swallowed hard. It felt as if a rake had been drug down the length of his throat. He winced than took a deep breath once the pill had passed. In this state he was very trusting. Normally he would have been very leery of the pills.

"I was... trying to sleep..." He rubbed his forehead as he tried to think clearly. "in vein... I do not know why... This is odd to me...." Xero added after recalling -not- being able to sleep at all. "Thank you ms Prisca...." He finally added as he offered the still full mug back to Prisca.

Prisca frowned and bit her lip as she took the mug back. She hadn't meant to make him choke. The scientist often made something warm when he or his son was sick. He said it made them feel better.

"I'm sorry..." she sighed, how badly she felt evident in her voice. Putting the cup down on the floor, she reached a hand back into her bag to pull out a small bottle of juice. "Didn't mean to make it worse...Guess you're too sick for that. Try this?" She held up the bottle, her other free hand once again digging back into her bag. The woman had grabbed as much as she thought would help from her own house. "Liquids help with colds."

Placing her purse and the bag on the floor, she sat down besides him, crossing one leg over the other. In her lap she laid a small box of pills. "These can help you sleep when you're ready to. I can leave when you wish to."

The woman gave him a smile. "You must not have been in this body for very long. It's nothing to worry about. It will go away if you treat it properly."

Xero looked at the bottle glumly, drinking had not been pleasant. However, he did trust Prisca knew more than he did at this point and took the bottle. He looked over the label before shaking his head.

"It is not your fault... No need for that....." He mumbled than unscrewed the cap and once again tried to drink. This one proved to be easier, yet mid way through another cough fit erupted and he was forced to hold his arm in front of his mouth. If anything now he was begging to feel like a slob in front of Prisca. Everything was a mess, he felt messy, the juice trickling down the sides of his mouth didn't help his case. Two loud crashing noises echoed in the hall in front of them and the wall shook. A pity he had just managed to get that entry in order....

When the fit ceased he lowered the bottle to his lap and let his head sink forward. His grip tightened on the bottle.

"I am sorry to present myself to you in such a state..." He let out a long breath before eying the 'sleep' pills. If she thought they would help perhaps some sleep would be good and she would not need to see him like this.

Xero cautiously took one of the pills from the box and quickly took it with another swig of what was left of the small juice. Thankfully nothing went wrong this time and it went down easily, if not a little painfully.

"....." He blinked than slowly lowered the juice. Within minutes he begun to feel drowsy, yet instinctively he fought viciously to keep awake and alert. This left him groggy and with a heavy fog in his mind. "...everyone I get close to disappears." His gaze held on the fire, though he wouldn't be able to tell what he was looking at. " I do not wish the same for you... I fear being alone, yet cannot seem to avoid it..." His words were like his gaze, very distant.

The Mewtwo woman sat in silence while he talked. For once, she wasn't sure what to say right away. She still felt bad about the hot water. She should have taken a closer look at his condition before deciding what he needed. Both of the pills, however, she was certain would work out better. They could even be taken together and cause no harm. Now, if Xero would just let himself fall asleep. It wasn't like he was in danger if he did. It would be better for him instead of staying awake any longer.

She couldn't help frowning. The path the conversation seemed to be steering made her wonder the kind of life a Pokemon coming from his creation had to have lead to say such things. It also made her remember her family. It didn't seem so untrue in her case, either. She'd had to leave everyone she cared about before.

Prisca laid a hand on Xero's that still held tight to the bottle. In a comforting gesture, she scooted closer to offer her weight as a mental balance, along with a comforting smile in his direction. "Can't get rid of me that easily. I may not have had the same past, but I'm still the same as you." She patted his hand. "I'm not going anywhere. Promise." Whether he remembered it or not in his groggy state didn't erase the fact it needed to be said now, apparently.

Xero's head lowered again. The fight for conciseness was slowly being lost. His focus shifted from the fire to Prisca's hand. He watched it with a vacant stare.

".... You remind me of her... Trinity... She was gentle like you..." He spoke quietly. " I still do not understand how that human could have taken her so coldly... When I read that humans memory, I saw.... everything from when he followed her through the streets... to the end... it was as if I had pulled the trigger all those many times myself... it seemed as if it were my own doing... seeing the deed from that human's eyes.... I could not protect her... ..."

Xero shook his head slowly before looking up at Prisca. His eyes half open. "I will protect you though... even if I am a weapon... weapons can be more than a destructive tool without a cause. Just... just stay away from lone dark streets..."

His mumbled and more than usual ramble was enough of a clue that he was, for the most part, already asleep.

Prisca choose not to comment on the things he was saying. Xero was obviously in a dreamy state, not in control of what he was saying. Though what he was saying did distress her. She assumed, remembering those memories he had accidentally sent her many months ago, that this 'Trinity' was the mother he had spoken of at Christmas.

"I can take care of myself," she answered stubbornly. Trying to push him back against the couch, the woman tucked the edges of the blanket around his body. "I have before. But you should sleep. You'll get better faster."

She understood why he was fighting it. Even in her short time of being alone and having to protect herself from challengers, it had made her more wary of people even today. She wouldn't sleep with all the windows opened. They had to be locked. Living the way he must have for so many years, she couldn't begin to imagine how much damage it must have caused.

"I make it a point not to go in dark streets." Attempting a smile, she laid one hand on his shoulder and gently pushed back, in hopes he would do the rest in his groggy state. At least the coughing had stopped. She knew it would. Those pills worked wonders on her employees.

"...but if I do nothing... they will take you away..." Xero mumbled as he was pushed against the couch with no resistance. "...and if they do I will have to kill them..."

His eyes flickered than closed fully as his head leaned back. The bottle he had been holding fell to the floor once his hands relaxed and his breath became heavy. Instinctively he leaned away from Prisca and curled himself into a tight ball on the couch. His tail curled and pressed tightly against his body. Each heavy breath became quieter with the passing moment until he was completely silent, the only indication he was still breathing was the slight rise and fall of each breath in his sides. Even Xero was unaware of this strange sleeping habit.

The fire flickered as the soft click of heel shoes could be heard echoing within the entry room on the other side of the wall. They paused for a moment, than when they continued again they could be heard in the upper levels of the house faintly. -Are you here?- A young and beautiful female voice called as the foot steps momentarily ceased again. -I know where we can go today.- There was a long quiet pause before the footsteps continued again, this time they picked up in the library. -I hear it is lovely this time of year...- The strangest part about this voice was it seemed to be talking to someone rather than looking. When the footsteps continued they were once again on the other side of the wall than, with the flicker of the fire, ceased abruptly.

The feint smell of the forest after a rain storm filled the office room after the footsteps stopped.

Prisca was happy when Xero finally succumbed to the pills affect. The things he had been saying were confusing, to say the least. Like he expected someone to come for her. Far as she knew, no one was looking for her. And if they were, they would be looking for the Pokemon. Not the jewelery maker. Then again, she might be wanted for more studies in attempts to figure out the change. Though, none of the humans around here seemed overly interested in it. At least not judging by how many men seemed more interested in the human side because it was, well...Human.

With her companion asleep, the woman got up off the couch slowly, her tail raising itself to press against her back. It would only stay in this position until she was further away so as not to disturb him. A dragging tail might do just that. It had a mind of its own, sometimes. 'Specially when she was nervous. A fact she had found out a few months past, at the beach. The second time she had met the other Mewtwo. But, right now she didn't want to reminisce. Things had fallen over. The woman figured she may as well see if she could right them. She did notice the place had been looking better upon each visit. Xero clearly was fixing it up. Was a shame to have that work ruined over a little cold.

She had only taken one step from the couch, when her heel clicking on the floor sounded a little too loud for normal. Curious, she instinctively looked down a second before more could be heard. Those weren't her heels. Neither was that voice hers. She had heard no doors and any Psychic Pokemon teleporting in would have been felt. So what...

The voice changing direction and not just looking for someone, but talking to someone, sent a cold shiver down her spine. That was unnatural. And a tad creepy.

Not knowing what to do in this kind of situation, she backed back up against the couch, pressing her palms against the soft surface behind her. It made her feel comfortable to know it was there. Was there a Pokemon playing a trick on her? It was common knowledge many of the Ghosts enjoyed this sort of past-time.

The house remained quiet for several more minutes. In which time the smell of the forest had faded. Outside the sky became overcast with dark and menacing clouds. Ones that had no warning of their arrival before. The feint flicker of orange light reflected faintly against the opposite wall from what little fire light escaped the thin window of the stove. The shadows of the objects in front of it danced calmly against the wall in tune with the fire's flicker.

Than, as quickly as the clouds had arrived, another shadow joined Prisca's on the wall. This one was much smaller than Prisca and had what appeared to be a much slender build. A younger female adult with long hair. - He's needed someone like you for a long time...Thank you for watching him...- That same voice from before spoke softly from behind Prisca.

Not even before the last word ceased echoing the fire was immediately extinguished taking the shadow with it. Whatever created the shadow had vanished as well before even being seen. A loud clasp of thunder rattled the house in tune with a brilliant flash of lightning.

More loud crashes could be heard in the other room before the air seemed to settle once more. No doubt what was left of the book shelves had finally toppled over by some unnatural means. Xero groaned quietly before shifting a little than falling silent again.
