To say that Chase was nervous was an understatement as he waited beside the wooden bench where he had first spoken with the blond. He rested a hand on the top of the bench, amber eyes scanning the area for Kaia to arrive. His body was tense but his nerves didn't really show in his face. He had dressed what some would see as formal, while he considered it to be semi formal. His dual colored haired was spiked up in it's usual fashion and he wore a long sleeve button up shirt, black hooded gray vest, skinny black slacks and chucks.
He looked nice but casual, a little more dressed up than normal but a part of him worried that he wasn't dressed up enough. Ugh, first dates were always the worst, when it came to expectations and nerves.
He really, really wanted to make a good impression.
He took a chance to look at the watch on his right to check the time thinking about all the preparations and time it took to set it up. He also started to think about the deal he made with his father concerning the private room he had set up specifically for the date.
He was thinking too much, Kaia had better show up soon.

Kaia was nervous, there was no way around it. She was in strange clothes, meeting a guy in the middle of a dark park and about to go on a date - something she had never done before in her memory. There were a dozen 'what ifs' rolling around in her head, questioning her knowledge of dates and doubting her own ability to be normal on one. What would they talk about? She had no family, no history, no anything to fill the spaces.
For what is was worth, she managed to appear far more composed than she felt. Her face was worry-free, shining in the moonlight overhead even with the small dusting of makeup she had managed. The dreads around her face had been pulled back and clipped with the largest clip she could find (which was saying something, because dreads were hard to hold back). The cream-toned sweater dress she had finally decided on was comfortable, even though she wished she had brought her winter coat to wrap up in. Her only saving grace was the pair of coffee colored leggings she had found to save her legs from the winter cold, tucked into a pair of wrap-around, ankle-high boots.
She had been assured she looked fine but it was still hard for her to convince herself. What if she'd under dressed, or over dressed? What if Chase preferred a girl that showed a little more skin? Not that it could really be helped in the middle of a Destiny City winter.
When she finally saw him standing right where he was supposed to be, right on time (if a little early) she felt a surge of butterflies batter against her chest. There was no time to turn back or duck behind a tree for last minute changes, she was closing in on him fast. Still, she managed a smile before she got too close, even for all the nerves she couldn't squash down.
"I'm not late am I?" She had seen him glance at his watch but she knew she had been on time - she had double and triple checked. Still, it was a good way to break the ice.

When he saw her he felt as though he was in one of those chick flicks where the guy was waiting, the girl showed up and everything moved in slow motion. You know the one where the girl is sparkling and tossing her hair from side to side, except Kaia wasn't tossing her dreads back and forth but she still looked stunning. It was all he could do to not let his jaw hang open at the sight of her.
While she was still a ways away he opened his mouth to speak only to find that he had been struck speechless and quickly closed his mouth before she could see. He smiled easily in return grabbing his black blazer off of the seat of the bench. "No, no," he shook her head trying to reassure her. "I was a little early, didn't want to keep you waiting," he admitted, though what he didn't tell her was that he had been there for a while, a good five minutes at least.
"You look beautiful," he told her walking towards her. "But you look cold," he frowned before unfolding his jacket and offering her.

She had to admit that he had cleaned up beyond what she had expected of him. Although his outfit obviously had his own creative flare, it was still more well put together than she would have thought. The sight of him reminded her that this was actually a date and, from the looks of it, a fairly formal one. At least she'd picked an outfit that seemed to be on par with the level of formality he'd decided on.
"Well, I'm sorry if I managed to keep you waiting instead," she was smiling though, which was a pretty good indication that the date was going alright so far. She was still nervous but somehow, being in his company made her realize she didn't have so much to fret about. She had let go of some of her crazy concerns, confident now that he was no different than the easy-going lieutenant she had met earlier in the week.
"Thank you," she said shyly, "you look pretty suave yourself." The apples of her cheeks had started to blush though and she found herself tongue-tied as he started to walk towards her with the jacket. She opened her mouth to protest but found there were no words to summon, so she just took it from him with a shy smile and pulled it on over the top of her sweater dress as best as she could manage. "If you get cold though, tell me, I don't mind going without it for a while." It was considerably warmer with it, though.

Tonight Chase was dressed sharply, but what Kaia didn't know was that this outfit was just one of many and that the spiky haired teen used this look casually. He had an assortment of outfits that he wore, all genres rather different from one another and she would be surprised to see his collection of button up shirts and vest combinations. Chase was unpredictable in more than just his wardrobe.
"Don't be, I wasn't waiting long," he assured her with a smile. "Thanks, I try," he laughed lightly. It was a good way of covering up his nerves, to pretend that everything was in a light mood. He shook his head at her when she told him if he wanted it he could have the jacket back. "Nah, I'm warm-blooded, like a walking space heater really," he joked taking one of her hands in his to show her. "See?" He just wanted an excuse to hold her hand.
"Come on, let's get you out of the cold and to the first place of our date."

"You really are.. warm," she said with an unsure air about her, but only because the butterflies in her stomach had done a triple backflip the instant his fingers curled around hers. She reciprocated instantly, out of instinct, but her cheeks lit a wild red once she realized how well he'd played it. It was a good thing it was cold, maybe she could just play the blush off that way.
"Wait, first part?" She blinked a little and glanced sideways at him, unsure if she had heard him right in her semi-stupor. She fell into step beside him as he began to lead the way but her interest had definitely been peaked. What had this unpredictable boy planned? At least her wonder meant that she was no longer concentrating as much on the warm hand gripping her fairly chilly fingers.
"You're going to be completely unpredictable, aren't you?" She narrowed her eyes on him as if she were suspicious, but the hint of the smile around her lips showed that it was playful. She couldn't even pretend to be serious. Finally she just laughed a little, sending a short burst of white mist curling up from her lips. "I think I might like that once I get used to it."

He could be smooth, when he wanted to be and the hand holding thing had been one of those times. He caught sight of her blush but said nothing, only squeezed her hand. "Yep, first part," he confirmed leading her forward as they headed towards one of the many exits of the park. Step one of his multi-step was to meet her, step two was to hold her hand and step three was to make their way out of the park.
"Completely and totally unpredictable," he admitted, almost boosted puffing his chest out proudly at her question. "I've got tricks up my sleeve that you'd never even think of," he grinned tugging on his sleeve with the hand that wasn't holding hers. "You should like it," he stated turning towards her before he pulled himself in front of her and grabbed her other hand.
"Because you're going to love what I have planned," he sounded so confident, so sure of himself because that was how he was taught to be. But there was a tiny part of him that went, I hope. So far his plans were: meeting at the park, getting to the car, dinner, then a secret event and something also secret afterwards too.
He was excited to surprise her.

"There's a lot of things I'd never think of," she said with a smile, simultaneously poking fun of herself (it made it all less awkward sometimes) and expressing playful doubt in his true ability to be full of the most unexpected surprises. Yet it was still in the spirit of fun and despite her jest, she was extremely excited over what he might be doing. With nothing to compare it to, and little knowledge of dating other than the generic sort, she really was excited.
She stopped as he abruptly turned himself and stood in front of her. With her other hand grabbed, he definitely had her cornered, and yet she was not intimidated. She curled her hands tighter around his and stared up into the eyes that were a similar shade to her own, like faded mirrors.
"We're never going to get there, you know, if you keep stopping like this." The smile on her face said she didn't mind, though she was terribly eager to see. Surprises were nice until she got frustrated waiting for them - Chase was just lucky he had such a charming smile.

He didn't speak for a minute, instead he just studied her face as though he was trying to read her thoughts. He gave her hands an assuring squeeze before he released one of them. "Right, right," he waved his now free hand about. "Best be getting on our way then," he seemed to be talking more to himself than to her as he started forward pulling her along with him.
He charged forward confidently until they reached the park exit, then he took a left and made his way down the path to where a silver 2009 Camaro waited for them in the shadows. This had been another part of the deal he had made with his father, he couldn't help it he wanted to impress Kaia.
"Hope this doesn't seem to fancy or anything," he stated rubbing the back of his head, though he was careful not to mess up his hair. "But it's really just a means of transportation, the next part is the probably the best part really."
What did this boy have planned?

Kaia smiled as he tugged her along again, curling her now free arm around her middle to hold the jacket she was borrowing closer against her to try and keep as little wind from slipping inside as possible. The other hand was still happily wrapped around Chase's, letting him use it as a lead to guide her with.
She was surprised when the pathway opened up onto the parking lot, but then, Kaia didn't think a whole lot about transportation. If she needed to get somewhere within Destiny City during the day, she walked or rode a bus. At night she could run across roof tops or, well, just teleport if it was really important. Somehow she'd taken the idea of personal cars for granted. Especially ones that looked as nice as this one, which suggested to her it was probably worth a lot.
"It's alright, I don't really know enough about cars to know if it's over the top or not, so you're safe." She laughed slightly then and squeezed his hand as she saw him rubbing the back of his neck. "Not that I would know anymore even without the memory blank - I think I just don't pay enough attention to these sorts of things."
She walked with him to the side of the car, stopping to look it up and down. It really was nice looking, she just didn't have much knowledge of cars. "I trust you," she smiled finally, done with examining the car, though making a mental note that it might be an interesting topic to read about in her down time, "if you say the next part is the best part, it probably is."

In truth, Chase walked almost everywhere except when his parents required his attendance at a meeting, social gathering or whatever suited their fancy. Then they usually sent someone to get him, but those were far and few between, even when his father wanted him to attend a meeting with him he would tell the boy to find his own way. That didn't mean that he didn't know how to drive, he had learned at the age of fifteen to drive both stick and manual and was required to keep his licensee on him at all time.
Not that he minded.
"Oh good," he chuckled, "glad I don't have anything to worry about. In a way it was nice that she knew little about cars or dates because it helped to relieve the pressure off of him but at the same time it put a different kind of pressure on him. He wanted to do it right.
He lead her to the passenger side of the car, reluctantly letting go of her hand as opened the door for her. "It's really up to you to decide but it's my favorite part."

She smiled as he said that, though she knew as well that given her age she should have enough knowledge to give him a reason to doubt himself. She had to wonder if it was harder to try and live up to something, or to try and be so great that no one else could?
"I doubt anyone ever has to worry with me," she joked, smiling as he let go of her hand to open the door. Even if she didn't know him well, he was at least respectful and polite, which were two qualities she appreciated in anyone. He definitely had that much going for him already.
She slid into the car and tucked her legs in under the dashboard, staring up at him where he stood holding the door then. "I guess we'll see then, right?"

Chase chuckled in response and shook his head. "There's always something to worry about when you're trying to impress someone," he told her as he leaned upon her car door for a minute just to look at her. Dreads had never really been his thing but they looked perfect on her. She was gorgeous and while she wasn't the only pretty girl in his life he was really, really glad that he had asked her on a date and that she had said yes. He was certain that all the preparations he had done for it were worth it.
He had never wanted to make such a good impression before.
Before he stood there and stared at her for too long he took a step back, flashed her a grin and carefully shut her door before making his way to the driver's seat. He slid in easily pulling the keys from his pocket and sticking them in the ignition. Turning the car he glanced at her, "Ready?" He shifted into reverse, backed the car up and shifted in to first (it was a stick shift). "When we get there I'm going to need you to cover your eyes, but only for a little bit. I want the room to be a complete surprise for you," he stated firmly as he peeled out of the parking lot.

Alkaid smiled up at him as he stared down at her, finding that there were no words really to fill that silence. It was nice to feel wanted by someone, even a first date was just kind of a shallow want. She'd had very few people in her life, the life she remembered, that wanted to please her just to please her. It was a strange new concept, but one she liked.
As he shut the door and walked around the car, she reached back to pull on her seatbelt and clicked it into place - she'd seen a documentary recently about faulty mechanics in car factories and she wasn't fooling herself into thinking a senshi would survive some of those accidents.
"Ready," she said happily as he started the car, giving her seatbelt one little tug for emphasis (and to test the tension in it, but he didn't need to know that). When he began to pull out, she turned her eyes to the window, eager to see any part of the city she might not have uncovered before. Even knowing she most likely grew up there, it was still unfamiliar and strange to her in some places.
"Oh really?" she was laughing softly in amusement as she turned back to look at him, intrigued by how far he was taking this surprise. He was definitely building up her expectations, but then, she wasn't exactly sure what to expect. "I can't wait to see what you've done."

Chase always started off as the really sweet doting guy that was any girls dream but for how long it would last? Even he wasn't sure but he was determined, if everything went well, to do a good job in 'wooing' her. He smiled at her, glancing at her out of the corner of his eyes to keep his focus upon the road. He didn't like to think he might get in a wreck but he never knew what would happen and he wanted to remain safe.
"Really," he stated with a firm nod as he shifted gears while they drove through the city. "It took quite a bit of planning and I must say, it's some of my best work," he joked slowing at a light. "Almost there," he told her taking a moment to turn his head towards her to really look at her.
God, why did first dates always make him so nervous?
As the light changed he drove forward, shifting before taking a few turns and finally coming to a stop outside of a Victorian styled building. He shifted in to park, opened his door and hurried to open her as the valet approached them. "Ah, Mr. Black," he greeted him as he offered his hand to Kaia. "If you follow Arthur he'll take you to your private room."
Chase nodded grinning down at the blond. "Ready? Time to close your eyes."
