It was time to help her children. She had been falling behind in her heavenly duties. First there was that horrible feather brained idiot. Then there was.. okay, so another feather brained horrible idiot. And Hyde. Well.. Hyde. He was just delicious. Then there was... another feather brained idiot. Oh! there was the religious zealot who belonged to another Deity. She still needed to meet this Divinity, and tell him or her to teach the children how to respect a Goddess not their own. Anyway, there had also been that idiot wearing the animal pelt like some sort of barbarian. He had given her a thrill, for a mortal, but he too had not been hers. No, she had been negligent of late, and that just would not do. She owed it to her children.
So when she saw the calico mare ahead, she smiled. Finally, a chance to help. She felt so distraught without aiding her children, so lost. So... Mortal. She shuddered at the thought. Pulling her thoughts from such morbid climes, and focused instead on her vict....child. If this was one of hers. No feathers, a good sign.
She waited for a moment when the mare was looking down, preferably while walking. When and if such an opportunity presented, Mary swung her mirror silently around until it was in front of the mortal, and she moved silently to stand behind, positioned just so that when the child looked into the mirror, Mary would be over one shoulder in the reflection. Taphos, was, as usual, hiding in the bushes. A good disciple.

 Acacia had been walking for a long time. It wasn't unusual for her to walk, in fact, it was pretty much what she did now. Food wasn't quite the same as before, and home didn't feel like home much anymore...What kind of home was it if there was no one to share it with? If the person she wanted to tell it to, would likely only be her friend if she kept her voice mute? Banzai...he couldn't feel the same way as she did for him, it wasn't his nature. But she wanted him, she loved him. Yet, she would remain quiet, because if the only way it could be okay was if they were friends...then she'd stay that way to be close to him, no matter how much pain it caused her. The wind whipped around her, as she kept walking with her head down. Somehow she had to escaped these horrid thoughts, and live more. Or at least look like she was living more....Because what if he asked? She couldn't tell him Her eyes flickered up, and her pupils dilated and became fixated. A mirror was before her, her reflection was there looking back at her. Her own terrified face wasn't the only one there...Over her shoulder, was long black curls and eyes that seemed soul-less. Someone was behind her, and she was afraid to move.

Awe. Her child was awed. Mary smiled a smile that was known to freeze blood. Others' blood, not her own, which flowed as it ever did, freely down her face, flanks, legs.... "Greetings, my child," came the whisper like a cold wind over a graveyard.

Acacia stumbled a few steps backward. Her voice was stuck in her throat. Then thinking better of it, she stopped. Was she behind her or in front of her? Maybe she should run sideways, or maybe she shouldn't run at all.
The blood was running and pooling down in front of her, and then the voice spoke. It was like something already dead and decaying. But she couldn't move, she was too frightened. Finding her voice at last, she croaked back, "Who are you?"

Acacia wasn't quite sure what to say at first. For a moment, she stood kind of mouth agape. Maybe it would be best to play along, easier to get away from...this deity. "What name do I call you...my lady."

"What help have you come to give me?" She darted her eyes, looking for a place to run. But something told Acacia that running wouldn't be a smart task against this mare. She was frightening in a chaotic, black magic sort of way.

"Shh my child," Mary crooned softly. She actually nuzzled the other mare. "It is time to reach for your power. If you wait until you have no fear, you will never advance as far as you could. Trust one who has done this, who has led others. It won't take long, and when we are done, you will be stronger, and on the road to your own dark glory."

She'd heard it said before, but she had never understood it till now---her blood felt like ice water in her veins. She wasn't able to to stop the shiver that racked her whole body. This...this...whatever she was, was going to kill her. She knew it...and she didn't know what to do, or where to run.
Should she play along?
"I'm...not...ready. It would be better...later." She took a slight step back from the nuzzling mare.

Mary grabbed the other by the hair and pulled lightly, before releasing her mane so that she could talk. "Child, trust the one who knows. You are ready, and I shall be here."
