*This is a backlogged rp* Behnam walked through the pride, his shoulders back, his stride certain. It was a beautiful day, and he had felt the faint brush of fur growing on his chin. He would have his full mane soon! It was something to celebrate! He wanted to show someone. Of course, he'd shown his mother already, who had smiled in that way that said she was just a bit amused at him, and nodded with appropriate seriousness, telling him it looked quite dashing on him. But that was his mother. His mother was a bit biased about her pride. Then again, he had never heard his mother bad talk anyone, ever... So maybe he was being silly and she was just too nice to say it? He would ask the next person he saw, he decided. Someone hopefully less tactful than his mother!

With the sharp sun at her back, Scheherazade stretched out on her stomach near the lake. Her siblings were spaced out around her mother, listening to some story or another. She wasn't really concerned with details, since her nap had been so wonderful.
Lately, the young Banu hadn't been sleeping as well as she should have been. Her most active hour was when the moon was at it's highest, and then she ended up talking with her father about whatever subject happened to pop up. It was refreshing, but oh so tiring at the same time.
She stood up with a large yawn, stretching her forelegs out front of her with her butt in the air. "Mother wouldn't be angry if I went back, would she?" She shook her head. Of course she wouldn't! Exspecially if she was just going to the den for a better sleep. What would it hurt?
Mind made up, Scheherazade started bouncing back to the den when she spotting a Pesar. A very bright...boastful Pesar? The young leopardess flopped down on her rump, one ear cocked up and one down as she simply watched him.

Behnam caught sight of her sitting down just as he decided to find someone. He broke into a smile and trotted towards the little leopard. "Greetings, little banu," he said with a slight bow of his head. "Can I ask you a question?"
He hadn't actually met this banu before, in fact, she could possibly be the first leopard he had ever spoken to before, but he didn't notice either of these things. Nor did he think of how an unknown pad approaching her might possibly make her nervous. "Do you think my mane looks good? It's coming in nicely, don't you think?"

Scheherazade placed her forepaws together in proper banu stance, but as usual, she stuck her left hindleg out the side. She hadn't expected that the Pesar would come over to her, and now that he was, she found herself curious. Was the gold on his body tattoos or markings? Did they glow at night? What would flying be like? She snapped herself out of her thoughts when he spoke. "Greetings, Pesar." She bowed her head, then brought it up slowly, her glazed over eyes finding his.
She sat for a moment, and pondered, before stating bluntly, "You look like a freak." There was no giggle or sarcastic lining to it. The little banu simply said it with a straight face, and even stood up to get a better look at him. "What you have is nice, but your missing alot, exspecially on the sides."

He jerked, taken aback by her words, then thought about it for a moment. This was a leopard, so she probably didn't understand how manes grew in on lions, right? "Yes, but I'm not full grown," he told her. "When I'm full grown I'll have all of my mane, even a bit more, because my father is the god of manes. But for now, I suppose, I'm a freak."
Which obviously depressed him, and his head dropped. "Then again, my brother has the same amount of mane as I do... so maybe all pesar males are freaks for their lack of mane?" That cheered him up a bit. "My name is Behnam, and you are, little banu?"

"Your father is the God of Manes?" Scheherazade quirked her head to the side. There was an honest to goodness God in their pride? This was news to her. She wondered if she asked him, would he make her fuzzy all over? Or so fuzzy that she would blow away with the wind? She physically giggled. What a thought!
"Maybe, maybe not. I've seen some Pesar's with mane's as big as their father's." Of course, whether she had really seen such a thing or dreamed it up was up for debate. "A pleasure, Pesar Behnam. I'm Scheherazade, Banu of Pad Obadias, but really, he's my father. Just not really."

He was her father, but not really? Behnam thought about it for a moment, then nodded. He understood her still being her father's banu, and considering that she was a full blooded leopard, he assumed she must be adopted, he had yet to meet a leopard pad.
"I see. My sisters are also my father's banu," he told her. "It's appropriate. But once you get older you'll go to another pad. Do you know who you are going to, yet?" he asked curiously. Did they arrange it that young? He hadn't asked his sisters, he hadn't thought of it before.

"That's true, I suppose." She stuck her tongue out to the side in contemplation. "But, I haven't really thought about it all that much, and Father hasn't said anything, so...." She shrugged her shoulders. "I guess I'll find out when I get there." The way she said it made it sound like she had no hope at all, or was completely content with staying in her father's harem forever.
The truth was, Scheherazade knew who she was, wasn't ashamed of it, but was well aware of how the other Pad's viewed her. To them, she was something nice to look at, but no one was jumping up and down to claim her. "What about you? Do you have any Banu promised to you?" If anything, maybe she knew the girl.

He shook his head, ever honest. "Not really," he admitted. "I haven't actually talked to many of the banu, yet. But I am going on my journey into the rogue land soon, to see if I can find one."
He looked at her closely, thinking of how honest she was even though he was older than she was, and a Pesar, in line to be a Pad. But she WAS pretty young, he wouldn't be surprised if she hadn't even thought of being someone else's banu yet.
"How about this," he said recklessly, "if when I get back from my voyage--and it might take a while to find a banu out there, I would like to see some of the world--but if you still haven't found a Pad other than your father when I get back, why don't I ask for you to be my banu?"

Scheherazade shifted from one side to the other, stretching out her muscles as she did so. She was perfectly content with this Pesar and his conversation, until his last question. Then she had to think.
"We've just met." She pointed out bluntly, and still, she pondered. "How do you know that I would make you happy?" Even for her youth, Scheherazade was anything, but naive. She had inherited not only her mother's good looks, but her wit as well.
And still, she wasn't rejecting him. Just...probbing the water a bit.

He thought about it. "How do you know anyone will make you happy?" he asked her. "But you're honest, which is good. I think it's something I'm definitely going to need to keep me from getting a big head. Being the son of a god and the son of the sultan's half-sister means people might not tell me the truth if they think it'll hurt my feelings. Even my own mother told me that my mane was looking quite good."
He pondered it further, looking at her curiously. "And I figure you're going to be quite beautiful when you grow up, so I should at least make you think about it while I'm gone. Once I'm back I'm going to expect you to tell me exactly what you want in a pad, and whether or not I would make a good one. Or do you know what you want already?"

"I don't know." She smiled. "but, I felt like asking, and it seemed like you wanted to answer." Scheherazade couldn't help teasing him a little; it was almost as much fun as calling her brother, Amani, a girl because of his lack of mane. Were manes really that important to Pesar's?
She thought about it a little more, and nodded. "Deal. I don't know what I want in a Pad, I'm not even sure I want one, but I'll think about it while your gone. Just make sure to come back so I can tell you."

"It's a deal," he said. "But if you find someone you like while I'm gone, I won't hold it against you," he added seriously. "It would be my own fault for taking too long. And I really do believe in love," he said. "I'd like to have what my father has, a beybanu and banu that loves me and that I love in return. If you find something like that, I will happily congratulate you on your success."
He smiled and stood, stretching briefly. "But for now we could walk around for a bit?" he invited. "I'll even let you make fun of my lack of a mane."

"Okay." She smiled, just barely nodding through his words. Scheherazade wasn't sure at this point whether she believed in love or not, but she wanted to. Her mother and father had it, even if they were different. The little banu didn't put much thought into, though, because as far as she was concerned, it wasn't her time yet.
She stood up beside him, popping her muscles as she went. "Sure, so long as we don't go to far. Mother would be mad."
