Cypress Forest, just north of Elemi Lake. It was a peaceful place, away from the constant hustle and bustle of the base. A place to relax with a book, to take off the black clothes emblazoned with a brilliant red R. He couldn't have made any other decision, hadn't been able to turn down any other path, but that didn't mean he didn't have regrets. These regrets, however, were brushed aside by a good book in a shady spot with Skiron beside him. Currently the glaceon was grooming himself in a fastidious manner that both pleased Frost, and reminded him that he had brought a brush along with the intention of helping out with that task.
Closing his book and setting it aside, the small man hunted through his leather satchel until he found the desire item. Before he had a chance to call to his pokemon, the ice type was beside him looking expectant; perhaps the washing had been a hint. "Alright then," Frost said with a nod, "you have made your point, now hold still and let me brush you." Peace, quiet, and his four-legged friend making contented chirring noises; what could possibly go wrong with this day?

It had been a tough past couple of days for Alexander and his partner Eevee, Conrad so when they had the chance to escape HQ they took it. At the moment they were walking through the Cypress Forest and just plain relaxing. Alexander had on blue jeans, a gray t-shirt that almost matched his eyes and some tennis shoes instead of the regular Team Rocket outfit. He stretched his arms high above his head as they walked along and gave a yawn.
"Finally a brake huh Conrad?" he chuckled. The little Eevee rand around his legs in a circle before running all around sniffing things. He never strayed too far from Alexander but far enough that he could explore.

"Glae?" Skiron's ears perked up alertly, and he turned to face the noise he'd just picked up. Somebody was coming; he tried to communicate this to his trainer, who fortunately got the message and turned to face the same direction.
Skiron had heard something; he didn't know what, but the ice type must have thought it was important. Getting quickly to his feet Frost peered into the trees that surrounded the little clearing they had settled in; was that movement?... Yes, it was, and said movement was caused by another human, who seemed to be coming their way... Conrad? He thought that was the name he'd caught, but he could only see one human figure. Was the approaching man mad, or with a pokemon?
The scent of another pokemon reached Skiron's nostrils at the same time as the aroma of human. It looked as though they were going to have company whether his trainer liked it or not.

Alexander watching amusement as Conrad bounced all around the path they were walking on, sniffing almost everything. He had to pause though when the Eevee stopped, lifted his nose into the air while his ears twitched as it he heard something. "What is it Conrad?" the blond asked and then crouched by his pokemon. "Eeee." the fox pokemon started to continue to walk forward, forcing the Rocket grunt to stand up and follow him.
Alexander scanned the trees with his eyes briefly to try and see what it was his partner was hearing but only caught a glimpse of something before he had to look back down to make sure he didn't lose Conrad.
Said pokemon kept walking forward at a normal pace as he tried to scent what it was he was hearing but unfortunately it was down wind from him. But he thought it was another pokemon.

Bright white as he was, it probably wouldn't be long before Skiron was spotted against the green of the forest; Frost was well aware of that, and was also aware that in dark blue slacks and a black shirt and jacket he wasn't perfectly camouflaged himself. Still, he had the advantage of knowing for sure that somebody else was there. After what felt like a very long time, but could only have been a few moments, he thought he caught a glimpse of blond hair...
Ah.
Yes.
A young man, casually dressed, certainly didn't look like a threat... but he had yet to see this 'Conrad'; depending on what it was that could change matters. Was his gun in its holster? Yes, it was, but it wasn't loaded. Ammo was close to hand in an inside pocket of his jacket, but it would still take precious moments to retrieve an load. Best to hope that whatever was coming wouldn't turn nasty, and that if it did, Skiron could handle it. Worries of personal safety aside, it had been made clear by the highest levels of authority that killing people was Not On unless absolutely necessary; that sort of thing attracted too much attention.
Ears still pricked forward, Skiron took a few paces towards the approaching human and... and eevee; he ought to have recognised that scent before given he'd been one himself once. Perhaps if his trainer didn't think it necessary to battle with the encroaching trainer, or to steal his eevee, he could spend a little time with the evolution pokemon. It would be nice to make some friends in this new region who weren't members of Team Rocket.

Alexander finally was able to see what looked like a figure in the tree like and something white beside him. He mentally witched to 'cautious but friendly until proven dangerous' and then glanced at Conrad. "Hello? Is someone there?" he asked out loud. It was his time off he certainly wasn't wanting to get into any fights. But if there was someone there and it did lead to a fight oh well, he could practice his pickpocketing and possibly get some pokemon foe Team Rocket. Boy he hopped who ever it was, was friendly.
Conrad continued to scamper a head of his partner as they walked. His ears twitched when his human started talking but went back to concentrating on the sounds when he figured he wasn't being talked too. "Eee, vee eve!"

The blond stranger sounded amiable. He thought they did anyway, but he was at least certain that they were not overtly angry or threatening tones, which was good enough for his purposes. Seen as he couldn't exactly go and hide anywhere, it was probably best to respond in order to give a decent impression; if he couldn't avoid this encounter, then he would at least try to make it as painless as possible for all conserned. Especially for himself. He knew he was awful at this sort of thing, but that didn't mean he had to enjoy being awful; it wasn't nice to fail at anything no matter how illogical it was to care about said thing.
As such, after a moment Frost called; "Yes... Hello." His tone, as ever, was almost completely neutral; far from cheerful and friendly, but equally far from rude or menacing.
Picking up on his master's attitude, Skiron relaxed somewhat and called a greeting to the eevee that he could now hear as well as smell. It seemed as though things might go well for them; he had been enjoying his brush, but they might get back to that before long if things were very relaxed... Well, probably not, not with another human around, but brushing could be put off for later in the face of friendly company.

Conrad's ears had zeroed on the greeting and he happily zoomed through the remaining bushed to stop in front of the other pokemon. "Ee! Vee eve eev ee!" he greeted back, his fluffy tail waging behind him in excitement.
Well who ever it was didn't sound negative so Alexander relaxed farther. He kept walking until he came to be just a few feet away from the other male. His eyes flickered over to Conrad who looked as excited as ever when he met another pokemon before looking back to the pale haired man. "Hello. I didn't expect to find anyone else out here." he said and gave a carefree smile. The man before him didn't look like a mass murderer or anything of the like, just maybe a bit on the cold side as his voice before had indicated.

Very young. If he was more than twenty, he certainly didn't look it. Tall, lean, attractive colouring, a nice face. Having thus catalogued the other individual both as 'too young' and 'out of my league in any case', Frost gave a slight nod. "I could say the same to you," he observed, "it is quite a large forest... but this is a pleasant spot; I suppose it draws more than the average number of people and so meetings between them will be more likely." Ah. Ought he to lie about his name?... Well technically he always lied about his name, but in this case he meant give a name that was different to the one he used on base. Probably a good idea. "I gather your eevee's name is Conrad? My glaceon is Skiron, and you may call me D. What may I call you?" There; social niceties of his own accord, he was doing well so far.
As the smaller pokemon bounded over Skiron gave a friendly but restrained chirrup, and lowered his head to have a better sniff at the newcomer. He was glad to find the normal type as friendly as he would have hoped; perhaps it was a little more bouncy than he planned to keep up with but he was happy to be bounced around/on if the exuberant little thing felt like it. He couldn't help but feel a bit paternal, perhaps because the eevee seemed young. He might be mistaken, it might be mature and just be full of youthful bounce, but the feeling was there all the same.

Alexander gave the man a once over discreetly, then did it again. 'Older then me but no more the roughly ten years.' he thought as he made sure the other male didn't notice his attention. 'Fit if a little on the chubby side, gorgeous eyes and a voice that if he tried, could persuade anyone to do his bidding.' he continued his quick mental assessment. He mentally put him into his 'flirt subtly and find out if he is attracted to men' category, having no problem with the age difference.
Alexander gave a charismatic/flirty smile. "Yes it is quite nice isn't it? Yes this in my partner, Conrad. Pleasure to meet you D, I am Xander." As much as he was willing to play around, he usually took training, missions and security seriously so he wasn't going to give his full name out to this stranger, no matter how good looking.
Conrad gave a chirrup back and reached his neck out to sniff the other pokemon. So far it seemed the Glaceon was friendly! Even if more on the reserved side. Oh well, maybe he could be enticed to play anyway. He had never met a pokemon of one of his possible lines so he was ecstatic to finally meet one.

A smile. The fact that it was a charismatic and flirty one was totally lost on Frost, but the fact that it was a smile at all pleased him; so far he was not completely blowing the encounter. "Xander... Conrad is an interesting colour. I don't believe I have seen an eevee of quite that pattern before." Within Team Rocket amazing results were possible what with genetic manipulation and suchlike, but in the outside world he knew that it took an awful lot of breeding to achieve an unusual coat. Perhaps Xander was from money, or perhaps he had simply got lucky.
As Skiron gave the eevee another sniff, a sense of familiarity overcame him. He didn't claim to have the best nose in the universe, but he was pretty sure that he had smelled this individual before. He knew he hadn't seen him before though, and at present he had no idea where he might have caught scent of him. Dismissing the issue, he dipped his head again to give the smaller pokemon's head a lick, smoothing a bit of fur that wasn't quite in place; if it was important, he was sure he'd figure it out.
Ah. Good. "It seems as though they are getting along well," Frost commented, "Skiron and I are quite new to the region, so he does not have many friends here yet." The nature of life on base made that difficult with other people's pokemon, and the nature of Persephone made it impossible even within his own team. Still, at least the spiritomb listened to him now, which was progress.

Well either D wasn't interested or he was slightly oblivious to body language. Alexander wasn't sure which but hey, it was just his first attempt. Good thing it was just a trainer, he wasn't willing just yet to show his preferences to any over his co-workers besides the ones who already knew. "I know. I'm not entirely sure where he got it from but then again I never asked Mother where she got him from." It was true, Conrad's unusual coat didn't come from Team Rocket as far as he knew as the Eevee was given to him by his mom as his first pokemon before he became a trainer. And that happened three years before he joined Team Rocket. "Shiron's pelt is rather lovely but I don't think I've seen quite that shade on a Glaceon before either."
Conrad sat down close to the other pokemon and chirruped again. For some reason Skiron was familiar to him as well. But he knew he had never met the other before, maybe it was a passing scent. He swayed his tail happily when the other licked him then licked the Glaceon back. Oh well, a friend is a friend.
Alexander looked at the two pokemon and smiled. "Conrad and I have been here all out lives but we travel so much that he doesn't get to make as many friends either." Other then a few pokemon from some Rockets Conrad hadn't really get the chance to win over friends. "It doesn't help that when he does meet a pokemon, usually they have a problem with his hyperness." Memories of a certain Growlithe came to mind at that. Hopefully now that Alexander's Growlithe egg hatch recently Conrad would have a constant companion that can get along well with him.

"Nature does throw some interesting 'curve balls' at times," observed Frost with almost audible quotation marks, "all breeders do it put at lot of them together to get... very curvy balls. I feel this metaphor had reached its limit, but you understand what I mean." He would have to think of a better one for use in the future; 'very curvy balls' somehow had an unprofessional ring to it. "I'm not sure where Skiron came from either," he went on after a moment, looking down at the ice-type thoughtfully. "He was a gift, and I never asked... A very slight variant on shiny; only his eye colour differs for the breed standard." Perhaps he ought to have asked Dith about his pokemon's origins, but his friend had taught him that it was rude to ask too much about gifts, and as he was never sure what 'too much' was, he had settled for nothing. Well, there was no sense in regretting that now he supposed...
Anyway.
"You must know the land very well," Frost observed after a momentary pause, "I still find that I know very little; there is only so far research can go towards replacing real local knowledge..." Perhaps it would be interesting, even useful, to test the waters here. "I was informed that travel to Ambergris Town is unwise," he went on, "that it is... something of a ghost town. What came first, do you know? Did the people leave because of large numbers of wild moving in pokemon, or did the pokemon move in only after the town had already been abandoned?" It was a perfectly innocent question such as might be asked by a newcomer, and the answer given by a genuine local could be useful to him; when he was required to play the part of an innocent totally normal and non criminal member of the public it would be useful to have an opinion to give about the place.
It seemed that nobody was in a rush to go anywhere, and so Skiron lay down beside the eevee and set about grooming a forepaw; he still wanted to be brushed, but he was willing to be patient while the humans chattered.

Alexander chuckled at 'D's explanation for the different colorization. "Yes I do believe I understand." he said trying to smother his chuckles to make sure the other male wasn't offended. "Well where ever Shiron came from he is quite pretty." his eyes had an amused glint in them still from earlier but he was telling the truth. He wondered briefly if both of their pokemon had any connection to Team Rocket but dismissed any thought of Conrad having been from the organization. His mom couldn't have any connection to Team Rocket right?
"I know a great deal of it yes." Alexander nodded. While he had traveled all around, he had avoided the mountains as much as possible. He perked up at the mention of his home town. "Actually while it is most then half abandoned, there are still people living in Ambergris Town. Most of the people who still live there are on the older side who refuse to leave their homes. But people started to move out first and then the pokemon started to increase in numbers since there was now more space for them to live." At least that's what he believe happened, he had been rather young when people started to move away so he could be wrong. Of course he made sure not to indicate Team Rocket in the reason people started to move.
Conrad looked from his partner to the other human then to the other pokemon. He didn't want to just stand or lay around talking! He got to his feet and wagged his tail as he bounced on his paws. He let out a few chirrups in question if Skiron would be willing to play. Normally he would have just pounced on the other but since he was part of his line he decided to be a bit more respectful then normal.

Humm, it seemed the tall young man was trying not to laugh... He wasn't sure what to make of that. Perhaps it was just the curvy balls thing; that was open to double entendre, which could lead to innocent snickering. He certainly couldn't think of anything else he had said or done that could cause amusement... Anyway, it hadn't sounded unpleasant (he thought?) so there was no real need to work out what the cause had been.
"I see," Frost said as Xander finished describing Ambergris, "perhaps I shall pay a visit after all then; I think it would be useful for Skiron to train against the wild pokemon there." The same went for Persephone, but much as this seemed to be going well so far he saw no need to let Xander know all the cards he had in his hand. An ace up the sleeve, which a ghost bi-type certainly was against a normal, was always a sensible thing to have.
"We have visited Camphoreon and Sandalwood thus far," Frost went on after a moment, sticking with the topic of places because he couldn't think of a new one, "I found Sandalwood to be a most singular place. Not a good place for an Acrophobic, of course, but fascinating to anyone else, especially anyone who, mmh, never grew out of the 'treehouses are awesome' phase." It was not a phase he had ever gone through, but Sandalwood fascinated him nevertheless. Humans really were ingenious creatures, and a city like that was a bustling, functioning testament to that.
