So much had happened lately. Sleep was no longer a pleasant place for most people, filled with war and fighting. With the war and fighting had come pain and death with had sorrow following behind it right on schedule. It seemed like no one cared anymore, and all that Mister Birdy had suffered was because of this. She did not know he was safe but in the hospital, and only her hope and the feather she had woken up with kept the inevitable thoughts about him from rising up and flooding her face with tears.
She needed a distraction and the perfect one had come home with Bell: Xavier! He was hurt, and the child could only imagine what had happened to him for him to be in such a condition. No worries though, the small child knew the solution. She knew what he needed! Doctor Ainsley was on the case. A quail feather necklace around her neck, the child moved around the house until she found the young man.
"Aw," she whispered to her plush bunny Octavian Oswald. It was no surprise he was with her. "Poor Xavier, let Doctor Ainsley heal what ails you! With the assistance of Nurse Octavian Oswald here, you will be feeling better before you can hippity hoppity!" She said with a goofy smile, walking closer to him so she could further inspect. They would help him feel better in no time! "Tell Doctor Ainsley and Nurse Octavian Oswald where it hurts."

Xavier was laying on the living room couch, idly watching tv. Certainly not the hardest patient the loyal Dr Ainsley would ever need to find !
He watched her approach with curiosity on his face, and did manage a smile when she talked to him. It was hard to be happy with how many things were on his mind at the moment.
He could totally go along - and really, it was unlikely that Ainsley would notice how fast he was healing and how odd it would be. "Oh, you're right on time, doctor !"

The child tried to put on a serious face as she looked at her patient. She was right on time? Oh no, was something wrong? Xavier hadn't told her where it hurt though! She would just have to find out... her and her lovely nurse Octavian Oswald. Her blue eyes scanned the couch from top to bottom, end to end, as she looked over Xavier. Her hand carefully touched his arm, her face dropping in expression.
"Here?"

Ack, maybe not such a good idea - that touch had gone right on one of the stitches, through the bandaging made it so that it didn't quite hurt.
"Right on the dot, actually." He did his best to grin and bear it, raising his shirt sleeve so she could see the bandage underneath. What skin could be seen of the nearby area was a rather angry-looking shade of red.

The child hadn't expected it to actually hurt there because that is where Sailor Themis had been hurt and what were the chances that both Sailor Themis and Xavier would be hurting in the same spot? It had to be a pretty big number. She thought deeply on this, as if they was trying to calculate the odds in her head. Fortunately, she failed at resolving a number she felt satisfied with and in the end she only thought it was a strange coincidence. However, there was a lingering thought in her mind, leaving uncertainty and speculation. Just how had he gotten hurt?
She pouted, feeling bad she had hurt him. "I'm sorry," she said apologetically, setting Nurse Octavian Oswald beside him to cheer him up. "Tell Doctor Ainsley how you hurt yourself?"

Well, how could he explain that. "It's okay." He assured her first. Well, he might as well use the standard excuse that he used across the board.
"I don't really remember too well... Just a dark shadow, and then nothing." He shrugged. "I guess someone found me unconscious or something, because next I knew I woke up in the hospital."

It was Xavier's lucky day because he picked the perfect person to use that excuse to. A person who still believed in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. A child who insisted a large bunny went around at Easter delivering painted eggs and chocolate treats for everyone in the world and was much more efficient at it than Santa Claus. Why? Because he's a bunny, of course. Those floppy ears must give them some sort of super power. Comparatively, Xavier's story was much more believable and whatever lingering thoughts she had about Sailor Themis' injury seemed to be blown away.
"That must have been horrible," she insisted, her eyes wide and full of concern for the situation he had been in. She believed him 100%. "I'm so glad someone found you and took you to a hospital."

"Yeah... waking up was pretty scary." He didn't even need to lie on this. Waking up in the hospital again had been pretty scary, but thankfully he'd had everyone still by his side.
Staying behind longer for observation had sucked, through.
"Im glad too. I wish I knew who it was, so I could thank them. Hopefully lll figure it out one day."

The doctor's veil was suddenly dropped as the child carefully reached her arms around the young man and hugged him. That must have been so horrible, and there were no words the child could say to fully express it so instead she just hugged him. She couldn't understand just how scary it might have been to wake up in such a way. She had never had to wake up in any place other than her own bed. She was so happy he was okay, she was so glad he was here now. It may not be a bed, but the couch was certainly safe! Finally, she pulled away, careful not to brush against his injury.
Quickly, the doctor seemed to appear again with a smile.
"I have performed the hug test and it seems you will be fine. Nurse Octavian Oswald and I recommend more hugs, lots of sleep and chicken soup!" She thought about it for a short moment and then gave a silly grin. She could assist by giving lots of hugs, getting pillows and making lots of soup for him.

She went to hug him and he didn't stop her, wrapping his arms around her to make sure she wouldn't fall.
Was it was it was like to be an older brother ? Xavier didn't know. He'd always been an only child. If his mother had another with the man she had cheated on her father for, he had never heard of it.
But he felt like an older brother right here and then.
"Thank you, doctor." He was smiling. It was more than could be said lately.

"You are most welcome," she said with a smile, setting Nurse Octavian Oswald on his lap before she gave him a quick bow and ran to the kitchen. She would make him soup, and then he'd be able to heal! She just had to figure out where her sister kept it. She did have canned soup, right? Her hands found the lower cabinet and soon she was half inside as she tried to find some chicken noodle soup. Ah ha! The child had found it, way at the back of the cabinet.
Finally should could make Xavier feel better! She hummed a happy tune as she took out a microwavable safe bowl out, set it on the counter and then used the easy-open lid to quickly pour the contents of the can into it. The bowl was full, and the child had to be careful as she carried it over to the microwave and placed it inside. She was about to close it and start it up but then she remembered and placed a cover on top of the bowl so it wouldn't splash the sides of the microwave.
Content finally, she closed the door, set the timer and while she waited for the soup to cook she prepared an tray with a spoon to carry it out to Xavier on. A minute later and a beep and the child was trying to take the very hot bowl out of the microwave.
"Ow!" She whimpered, nearly dropping the bowl.
It was hot, and the child scurried around for a pair of oven mitts. They were in a drawer, and the child hurried to put them on and then used her nicely insulated hands move the hot bowl onto the tray. With the soup now on the tray, the child was able to remove the oven mitts and then slowly carry the tray out to Xavier.
"I have soup for you, doctor's orders," she giggled as she set the tray down next to Xavier.

Xavier did not seem to mind being the new guardian of a plush bunny - Octavian kept his guard on the sick boy and he nearly drifted back right there and then.
It was only when he had a plate in front of him that he realized what had happened. "You made this for me... ?" He couldn't help but smile. "Thank you, Doctor Ainsley."
He did eat his soup - the whole bowl, like a good boy - before he ended up falling back into sleep. Daytime was the only time when the land of dreams did not grap...

Doctor Ainsley smiled happily as her patient cleaned up his bowl, carefully retrieving the bowl from Xavier as he began doze off into what Ainsley hoped would be the sweetest dreams. She left her bunny with him, and then carefully went to put the bowl back into the kitchen before retrieving a blanket from the closet. She couldn't just let him sleep there without one, he might get cold! She had to be careful though, she didn't want to accidentally wake him up! So as quietly as she could, she went back into the living room and draped the blanket over him. She made sure she hadn't woken him up before leaving and heading up to her bedroom for some reading.
