Name: Kaylee Morgan Reece
Nickname: Kay, Morgan, Reece, she’ll go by any fragment of her full name.
Age: 9
Birthday: May 5th
Sign: Taurus
Gemstone: Emerald
Blood Type: B-
Fav. Food: Happy Meals. Not entirely for the food.
Hated Food: Everything excluding PB&J, macaroni and cheese, and anything that comes out of a drive-thru. Very picky eater.
School: Knightside Elementary
Hobbies: xxxx⚬ TV: Kaylee’s been staring at that thing since she was born, and she watches several hours of it daily. She’s so dedicated that she’s become a walking TV guide, able to recite all channels that have a solid cartoon programming block, the time slot of most every popular show, notable lines from most cartoons and sitcoms and commercial jingles. She knows so many jingles. She knows jingles from before she was born. She knows jingles without even remembering what was being advertised. She’s also a minor movie buff, having access to worn out VHS tapes of mostly George Lucas films, the Robocop trilogy, and other similar things. Television is her vice, commercials included, though, she’s eager to upgrade to the internet for her daily staring at a screen time. She just lacks consistent access to an available computer to develop too much skill with it.
xxxx⚬ Cops and Robbers: Also known as War, Star Wars, Ninjas, Kidnappers and occasionally, Indiana Jones. It’s all the same thing: Kaylee plus at least one friend, shrieking and chasing and whacking each other with –insert toy weapon here- while shouting things relevant to whatever she titled it today. Knees are usually skinned. Rules are made up when convenient. Or, according to her, it’s not that she’s making them up off the top of her head, it’s that it’s a very sophisticated game and you just don’t understand. This activity is usually suggested whenever Kaylee finds herself in the company of someone else and puts it together with –insert toy weapon here-.
xxxx⚬ Art: It’s exactly what you’d expect from a nine year old. Crude, sketchy, barely recognizable sometimes, but goddamn, Kaylee does a lot of it. If she has a drawing utensil, she’s going to use it. No scrap of paper is safe from her, even bills and documents. She’ll even draw on the walls when she can get away with it, though, usually she gets reprimanded for that. The odd thing about Kaylee’s art is she never draws people or animals, and sticks to buildings or landscapes and sky pictures (Sun and clouds, nighttime with lots of stars, occasional rainbow). This is a point of contention with her school counselor who tries to work doodles into her time with her and Kaylee’s stubborn refusal to cooperate and draw things like her parents or siblings.
xxxx⚬ There is nothing more unsettling than Kaylee with a screwdriver. She has the typical boundlessly inquisitive nature like any kid her age, and it often manifests in taking everything apart to find out the most trivial information. So that RC car took double A batteries. Barbie's head apparently can be wedged back on but Ken is a lost cause. So that's what it looks like inside a radio. Apparently all the cabinets in the house take this size screw. No toys are safe. Not hers, not her sister's, not yours. Not even the grownup's 'toys'. Toys come and go, but opportunities to smash them open only come about as rarely as Daddy leaves his tools within reach or in an easily acquired position. Carpe diem.
Virtues:
xxxx⚬ Endless Curiosity: Kaylee tends to not just sit and take what you hand her. She wants to know why it works, how it works, and all the little pieces. This does lead to obsessively checking how every little toy that comes her way works and what batteries she’s going to need to keep it working long after she’s lost interest in it, but it’s the same attitude that leads her to question everything. That ‘Adults are talking’ excuse doesn’t seem to work for crap and just elicits more curiosity about what you’re trying to hide. What the hell you put in her food* will always be evaluated, and the reasoning behind your decisions must be explored before she even conceives respecting them. The workings of the world, your plans, your motivations, she wants to know all of it before she takes a single step. *The exclusion to this rule behind fast food, because like most kids her age, she’s too blinded by the included toy and targeted marketing to care that much
xxxx⚬ I’ll Fix It, kay?: Kaylee’s a pro at breaking things, physically and sometimes in a metaphorical sense, but she’s not cruel. She did it because she felt like it in a spur of the moment deal, but usuall feels regret for the things she does when she see the aftermath and tears, and when that happens, her own tears aren’t far behind. You’ve just earned her cookie at lunch for the next month you lucky fool. She feels things deeply, especially empathy if it’s given some time to sink in and will likely go overboard trying to patch things up in her own way, be it destroying the kitchen trying to fix you pancakes or trying to repair that vase with her favorite stickers, even if she’s already been in trouble for breaking it.
xxxx⚬ What I want: Kaylee’s an assertive little sucker. She knows what she wants, when she wants it, and if she seems extra inquisitive and domesticated lately, it probably means she intends to manipulate someone into giving her something. She sees everything in terms of whether or not she wants it, and how she could get it, and not just in terms of toys and candy. She also tends to try and make larger decisions such as where she wants to live, where she wants to go, everything. She takes it upon herself to tailor her own world to her own desires. If you get in her way, don’t expect her to work around you. She has a plan and she’ll defy you until the end to make it a reality, no matter how insignificant or huge. Of course being a nine year old in the real world she doesn’t always get her way, but it is most certainly not for lack of trying. Persistence, persistence, persistence.
xxxx⚬ Surprisingly mature: Kaylee hasn’t grown up in an ideal home. It’s no secret that when not in foster care, she spent a large amount of time in the care of her neglectful single mother, which left most responsibilities to her and her sisters. She’s accustomed to a world run by kids. She knows how to measure out a baby’s bottle, cook her own simple meals like instant mac and cheese, and even forge a signature; She’s shockingly self-reliant out of necessity. She also doesn’t appreciate adults lording authority over her. She’s used to being a secondary parent to her little sisters, so when she’s treated like a child, she responds like she’d being unfairly demoted and often argues from the point of view that she holds the same authority as any adult. Annoying aspects aside, her skills are definitely a plus when it comes to daily life.
Flaws:
xxxx⚬ Ugh, you're still mad?: Kaylee can be kind of a bully. She's definitely not above a schoolyard brawl or randomly picking on other kids if they're being especially dumb or dorky. But the thing is, that happened yesterday, and this is today, so you should get over it. She’s TRYING make amends, you stupid grudge holder. While she is highly empathetic when emotions run high, she’s pretty rough around the edges. She’s already made it better in her mind, or at least is working on making it better, so you have lost the right to be mad. As far as she’s concerned, you even lost the right to justify not playing with her! Geeez, people are so hung up on the past."
xxxx⚬ There is no Santa: Kaylee feels the need to correct everyone on reality because sometimes it just really feels like people need reminding. There is no Santa, no Easter Bunny, no Tooth Fairy, no God, and she’ll be quick to debase anyone for implying otherwise to her. You either mistook her for an idiot, or you are an idiot who clearly needs a reality check. She doesn’t believe in false figures or false hopes, reality is what it is and she’s reluctant to wish for anything more than what she can see right in front of her, but where she reaches illogical levels is how angry she gets at people who do believe. People who are so sure of uncertain or outright untrue things bring out the biggest reaction in her, even bringing her to the brink of a screaming match if it escalates enough.
xxxx⚬ Surprisingly immature: Kaylee might be able to cook, clean, and swear like a sailor, but she really is still a kid. It’s something that can be easy to forget for some people, but on a deeper level, she’s not that different from most nine-year-olds. She just wants to spend her days playing and watching cartoons and she’s not emotionally equipped to deal a lot of the things that happen around her, making her prone to breakdowns or petty revenge in the form of defiance, vandalism, or some other way she knows she can push your buttons. If you have prolonged contact with her she will try to deliberately push your buttons at some point or another. She’s also about as ignorant as a lot of kids when it comes to how the world works and even what half of what she says really means. She talks a big game, but a lot of it’s parroted without full comprehension.
xxxx⚬ Tell me I’m pretty: Kaylee’s in a stable, normal home for the first time in a long time, and now that she’s consistently going to school every day, she’s started to look at other kids her age and feel like a freak of nature. She often puffs herself up and declares herself brilliant, beautiful, happy, or whatever else she wants to be. Unfortunately her self-esteem isn’t as high as she claims so she’s constantly seeking compliments validating her claims that she is, in fact, a pretty, normal, happy little princess. When she’s feeling especially down she may imitate sitcom kids or other stereotypes hoping to engineer some compliments out of the people around her. Sometimes the results are awkward rather than what she was hoping for, and it makes most things she does reek of phony attempts at cuteness.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Eyes: Bright, crystal blue.
Hair: Strawberry blonde, in shaggy, uneven layers like she recently attempted a self haircut when someone left some unsupervised safety scissors around.
Face: Slightly rounded with a very small semblance of baby fat on an otherwise thin face with a pointed chin and big lips and dimples. Cream complexion, dotted with freckles.
Clothes: Knightside uniform// Casual clothes consist of t-shirts and tank tops with typical 'cute little girl' patterns and shorts or jeans. Always covered in dirt or mud, always with skinned knees and elbows, and always covered in Power Ranger or Batman band-aids whether injured or not.

Senshi: Equuleus.
Challenge: In the name of Ek... Equ... ooo... I'm gonna kick your butt!
Fuku Colour: xxxx⚬ Main Color: Pale pink xxxx⚬ Secondary Color: Pastel violet
LIZZY REF SKETCHY REF The unicorn plushie is vital to her attack casting and some random hair flowers would be lovely <3
Attacks:
xxxx⚬ Sailor Scout Attack: Equuleus Cleanse! Effect: Minor healing Description: Channeling energy to the unicorn plushie, Equuleus can cleanse an open wound of any dirt or contaminates, preventing infection, all by poking people with its horn. Works on dirt, rocks, and common germs, but not on chemical poisons and leaves the wound open. This attack is basically just magical neosporin.
xxxx⚬ Super Sailor Scout Attack: Equuleus Deterge! Effect: Minor healing Description: Again by channeling magic to the plushie and poking the target with his horn, Equuleus can sterilize a wound and cleanse some toxic agents. The wound will scab over instantly and make some minor progress towards closing.
xxxx⚬ Eternal Sailor Attack: Equuleus Chasten Swirl! Effect: Moderate healing Description: An AOE attack that swirls a refreshing and rejuvenating pink energy, closing shallow wounds like scratches and deterring sicknesses and poisons, affecting everyone in a five foot radius. This attack is executed by channeling her magic into the toy and holding it up as the center of the radial target of effect.
xxxx⚬ Constellation: Equuleus is a constellation. Its name is Latin for 'little horse', a foal. It was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century astronomer Ptolemy, and remains one of the 88 modern constellations. It is the second smallest of the modern constellations (after Crux), spanning only 72 square degrees. It is also very faint, having no stars brighter than the fourth magnitude. /Wikipedia
xxxx⚬ Sphere: Unicorns are depicted as a one horned horse in modern times but traditionally are actually a horse creature with a goat’s beard, a lion’s tail, and cloven hooves with a spiral horn. Unicorns generally represent innocence and purity and can only be tamed by a young virgin maiden. Their horns are also said to have healing properties to fight sicknesses and cleanse poisoned water.

I LOVE THIS! I JUST HAD TO SAY SO.
-not a crit part really, but there's the constellation Monoceros (the unicorn!)? It's not cute and girly sounding sadly (shorter than the star monocerotis though!), but super thematically appropriate! (There's also an asteroid called Epona (means 'great mare') , I think, and Epona is a celtic goddess of horses and associated with the after-life.) Herald is cute, but it makes me think of messengers.. or a harbinger of doom and less of unicorns.
-I think her art hobby is really interesting, a very interesting take on kiddy art actually. Not drawing people sorta makes sense to me given her dicey history, the not drawing animals part I find the most odd/interesting. Why not animals? And, out of curiosity would she draw rainbows or food?
-Virtue/Flaw set looks good to me. I can't really seen any issues. It all seems well thought out and appropriate.
Attacks! HMM. Let's see if I can help a bit. I don't see why you couldn't have both a healing element and a charging unicorn attack? Maybe have a healing thing be the first two and a unicorn charge as the last one? Each could involve a summon maybe? Perhaps for the charging unicorn thing it could have the flaw that it only works as a form of protection? Like she would have to wait until she was being attacked or some other innocent bystander/ally was being attacked. I don't usually think of unicorns as tough animals, but appearing to protect innocent people makes sense to me? I hope that sort of helps. heart

I really like Epona. I also remembered the Equuleus constellation and 'little horse' does seem fitting given her chibi status. I did consider Monoceros and/or Monocerotis but I'm not really a fan of the way it sounds for some reason, I don't know why. I don't know, I can't decide. orz
You make a good point on the art part as far as not drawing animals and other stuff. I'll have to think about it because I can't really come up with an answer. xD Thank you!
My ideas for offensive attacks were based off a very vivid memory I have of reading the Chronicles of Narnia as a kid. The cover of the final book in my set is a unicorn with a bloodied horn from ramming someone. I can't really remember the story but I have the vague sense that it was in the defense of someone else so I was thinking a unicorn charge attack would be something like a small force of energy to push someone away in a "Get away from me" sense that could be used to push an enemy away from someone else for herself. /ramble
But I was also under the impression the attack set had to be support, defensive, or offensive and not mixing and matching? I'm probably wrong since I don't remember where I got that notion. orz
EDIT Also, my biggest fear with this is stepping on Pegasus's toes. I didn't think about it when I was goofing around with the concept but now I am. Traditionally pegasus and unicorns are pretty different but the modern depiction of unicorns is just a horse with a horn rather than the lion/goat/horse chimera and the Sailor Moon canon depicts Pegasus with a horn.
So I'm already thinking of fluffy fantasy back up plans.

I think as long as they have a general connection (and well within the theme) the type of attack can vary a little bit? Like in cannon Mercury's first two attacks are defensive and Aqua Rhapsody is offensive, but they all work with water. I dunno >.> , I don't see why you wouldn't be able to have something from column a and something from column b as long as it rational? Ask Mouse XD ?
I like Epona because it sounds/looks like pony and it's girly/cute. Monoceros is definitely not cute.

Fff~ Unicorns~
But yeah, the attacks are basically two attacks. You have your first as something, then the second is an upgrade of the first, and then eternal can be something different.
I like Epona, too. Herald reminds me of angels and messengers. XD;
Hurr.... My crit really isn't a crit. :[ I will sit on this and think up some more potentially useful things for you. <3

Yeah, Herald's pretty much out, I'm just having trouble deciding between Equuleus and Epona so I didn't change the title yet. I think I'm going with Equuleus, though, because I kind of think it sounds cute, and I had this scenario in my head where she can't pronounce her own name to save her life.
Herpderp.

Not actually a crit, just an observation that her lovely unicorn is called Derpy, but we do have Derp[raline] the Guardian Cat. Not sure if you took that into account when naming the unicorn.
[Why not CHARLIE? 8D /shot]

Derpy isn't actually the name, but I just kind of went with it because its the only adjective I had for the plushie, and even then, I don't think it's actually stepping horribly on Derpaline's toes, given that derp is a pretty common word on the interwebs, and this Derpy thing... whatever isn't even a character.
NO, LP, THIS ONE'S A UNICORN. OBVIOUSLY. GOD.

I didn't think it was stepping on her toes, I just was bringing it to light in case you hadn't considered it, as I said. BUT IF IT WAS DERPY HOOVES THEN IT WOULD SUPER BE IN PEGASUS' TERRITORY.
