It was frustrating! Edith stumbled, yet -again- as he failed to see a bit of rubble in the darkness. Being colorblind made seeing in the dim darkness of the asylum far worse. At least that was his opinion. For all he knew, he didn't have it any worse then the other people trapped here with him. "Damn it all!" He cursed anyways and leaned against a wall. Edith cupped his face in his hands and tried to release the anger that seemed to constantly be building in him. Exhaling slowly, he rubbed his fingertips into his forehead and counted slowly to himself. "One...two...three..." No...that just wasn't going to work. With a shake of his head, Edith pushed away from the wall and carefully began to pick his way through the room. He hated the lightless rooms. He hated the poor conditions. He hated, most of all, the lack of proper equipment. He was so far behind in his work! At this rate he was going to be too old to enjoy his success when he finally achieved it! Not that anyone believed he ever would. Edith's hand fisted in anger at his side. Even his traitor parents didn't think he could accomplish his goals. Well he'd just show them! He was going to succeed! he was going to make history!

The halls were always dark when Dimas ventured out of her room. She liked the light and she was sure her glow would be less noticeable if she waited until it was daylight out. The one problem with that was the simple fact that in the light others could see how much of a 'freak' she had become. The red and pink markings along her blood red skin did glow in the night. As did the few pink and white tendrils dangling from her thick black hair.
She moved slowly threw the halls her dark eyes scanning the surroundings. In the near pitch blackness of the non lit halls she was like a bloody little beacon. She could not consciously control her glow but that did not bother her so much. At this hour pretty much no one would be in the hall ways. She turned down a corner wanting to get to a nice spot where she could look out and up at the stars. She might not have the ocean to fill her nights but at least seeing the stars made her feel some sense of normalcy here in the asylum.

Edith attempted to focus on himself on the task at hand. The temptation to lose himself in self pity and belly aching whining was fairly strong. It was also counter productive. Edith poked through some remains of what he assumed was a bed with his toe. He supposed the springs of the old mattress could be put to use. They could hold beakers and bottles over candle flames. However, he would first need wire cutters to sever the individual coils. "And of course I don't have those." He sighed. Okay..a sigh was better then a snarl. It meant his moment of anger was passed and he was sinking back into his sullen state.
Least there were no chances of bathroom run ins or anything. He didn't want to deal with all the taller boy's mocking him. Edith shifted back a step from the mattress and glanced towards the empty doorway. Was it really worth searching these rooms? Anything that was unlocked had clearly been ransacked. This room didn't even have a door, which made it seem more likely to have been picked clean. Edith stood up and crossed over to the doorway. He leaned against it, then blinked. Was that light? Light in this darkness?
"H-hey?" He called out. Oh sure, it was probably a fool thing to call out, but Edith was at the point that, if he didn't start taking fool risks he was never going to get anywhere. Edith stepped out from the doorway and crept towards the source of the light carefully.

Dimas' whole body went ridged as had crossed by an open doorway and hear a voice call out. She stood there wondering if she should just run or respond. The voice did not sound familiar but it was clearly a male. If it were it would have been the third person and the third male she had met in the asylum. It seemed that maybe there were only male here apart from herself. She felt her cheeks darken with blush.
Kneeling in the hall was doing nothing one way or another and she could hear footsteps coming out into the hall. She took a slow breath and started to to raise back up. She could run but it would not help, she was sure that this man would follow her so she turned slowly to look at the figure who entered the hall. Even in the darkness she could see she the thin build of a man with short hair.
Her glowing flesh and slow movement made her look like a ghost in a Japanese horror film. "Hello." she said gently.

What..was...that? Edith found himself looking upon the source of the light. However it was no flashlight. Well, perhaps she could count as one. To Edith's eyes, the red glow emanating from her came off as a grayish light, something he was used to coming off small candles and the like. He curled his fingers into the door frame and looked up her length. She was taller then him...not surprising. He'd only met children that were his size or smaller.
For the moment, he just stared at her. So then now what? He had started this right? He had called out first, and she clearly had answered. Edith moved a hand to his tattered shirt to pull on the collar uneasily. She spoke softly but looked undeniably eerie. He glanced about himself, but found nothing at hand that he saw as possibly useful. Well, if she attacked he'd just have to run he supposed. Edith slowly stepped out from behind the door frame and muttered. "You...what are you doing around down here?"

Dimas though she had yet to cast her dark eyes at the man's face she could feel his eyes looking over her. She hated it when people stared. It didn't bother so much before the experiments but afterwards she knew they all stared at her blood colored skin and her glows. It did not help that the short shirt and top she wore almost blended in and looked like parts of her skin only black. But it had been almost all the clothes she had been left with when she was dumped off here. This outfit and a swimsuit and a pair of pjs that were way to big for her.
She could not tell that the short man in front of her could not see color so he might not be starring at her discoloration but instead at the soft glow her 'tattoos' gave off. She listened to his voice, sounding a bit more confident this time around. "I...could as you the same thing." she said her voice was even and soft. Though the short person seemed almost like a child Dimas did not think she had much to fear from him but her eyes did scan the ground for something to use just incase he was more than he seemed. After all in this place it would not be surprising for him to have some kind of unknown power. Her body shifted and she finally looked up at him her thick hair sliding to reveal near black eyes with blood red irises, or to Edith black eyes with hints of near black grey.

So she wasn't going to answer his question? Edith half stepped back into the room he had been scavenging. He wanted to get out of her odd looking sight as he struggled with his own possible choices. She looked very very strange, which meant she was likely very dangerous. At the rate he was going however, he was building up nothing more then a long list of enemies. He needed to find someone to side with him at least. But...a girl? Edith placed a hand over his eyes and exhaled slowly. Well...if he got a girl on his side he supposed he could at least acknowledge there were other reasons to keep her around. Oh, who was he kidding? Edith fought the urge to laugh. The moment he introduced himself the most he could hope for was a pat on the head now and then. Stupid girls...
Carefully Edith pushed himself back around the door frame and back out into the hall. He straitened his back up, and lifted his heels a tiny bit off the floor in an attempt to make himself taller. "I..asked you first...you should answer. It's only polite..." He spoke finally.

Dimas watched as he started to move back towards the door. She was reminded of another man who had hid from her sight before. The thought of her glowing friend made a smile start to curve the corners of her lips. But if anything it gave her a bit more of a creepy look because it was not a full smile. But she lowered her head and her hair cascaded down her face and arms. Her right hand moved up to grip her left arm at her elbow.
As she heard him moving back into the hall her head tilted up just a bit to show she heard him, "That is true. I normally come out a night so others wont see me...like this." She gave a humorless laugh and and her left hand pointed to a small bag, "I was going to head to the showers...after sneaking some food." She dropped her arm and looked up full though her dark eyes did not look directly at him, and her hair dangled around her full round chest, "Your turn."

Why was she smiling? Was it at the fact he had come out from the room? Damn it...was she a predator of sorts? She looked like she could have been one, that smile of her's had certainly seemed off putting. Edith made certain not to get too close to her now, despite the fact he was now very clearly noting some oddities about her. Well, they had been clear before when he'd first glimpsed her, but now he was able to look a bit longer upon them. Her hair did not have the same consistency...and he was having difficulty telling if she was wearing cloths...oh...Poisidon... Edith's gray eyes darted to his feet. What if she was naked? He was afraid to look closer now...but no! That was just foolish thinking...or was it wishful? No! Inwardly he shook his head. Clearly it was foolish!
Dimas had given her explanation Edith struggled to put together exactly what he was trying to do. He couldn't just -tell- her. She was a stranger and could have been a threat! Edith ran his fingers down one arm and hitched them into the material at his elbow. "I am scavenging for useful items. So I can make myself more comfortable here and better protect myself. I am small and have no skills or talents to keep myself safe, and my chosen room has no sort of lock for the door. So I come out when I think there are less creatures moving around and I'm less likely to get hurt." Well...that answered it didn't it? With a touch more truthfulness then he cared to have added in, but there you go...

Dimas did not like feeling his eyes moving on her, she was sure it was simply because she was so different. But that was one reason she only came out when there was the least likely chance someone would come upon her. She watched him threw slightly covered as he looked down and then finally telling her what he was doing.
She gave a nod, "I think it is very rare to find a room with a door that locks. Mine doesn't..." She gave a small nod and looked at him a bit more directly before looking down at the 'trash' near him. "Have you found anything useful? Maybe after my shower I can help you...or before...if you know what your looking for." She offered softly.

"Isn't that the truth." Edith muttered sourly under his breath. The lack of good locks spoke volumes for the level of danger this place presented. Most of them were broken, and the ones that did work were all claimed by others. If only he could find a room that had everything he needed. But that wasn't too likely. With a small shake of his head he brought his gray eyes back up to look at Dimas.
"Well. I found some pieces of wood, sticks really. But nothing particularly useful. I was hoping to find something like glass bottles, or at least plastic.." Edith spread his hands in front of him in a helpless gesture. "At this point I'm just gathering anything that doesn't smell, have bad stains, or is decayed. Some new cloths would be great, and a shelf, nails...things like that. If I could find a screwdriver and hammer I could strip the broken bits I find at least. I'm not exactly good with maintenance though..I don't suppose you know anything about fixing stuff?" It didn't hurt to ask huh? With the mention made of Dimas going to shower, Edith found his cheeks warming slightly. A part of him wanted to ask if she wanted someone to stand guard while she did that...but..he knew it would be taken in the wrong way...well. That's cause it was meant exactly as it sounded. God he needed to refocus himself on his studies!

Dimas gave a nod, "I do not think you will find any not rusty nails around here...and clothes are hard to come by I think. I only have the ones I came with." She then ran a hand over her other arm, "No I don't know how to fix much...though I do think I can sew a little bit. Not like the pros or anything." She grew quiet mainly because he had and she was not normally a bit talker. More so when it came to men unless she was required too. "I am sorry I am not as helpful as you might need. But yes if you would like I can help you...um...my shower can wait...we can look separately and then meet back up some where by the showers maybe?"

Well it was worth bringing it all up he supposed. Edith looked the female over as she would admit she knew nothing about the items he was looking for. Not too big of a surprise really. This place was sorely lacking in all sorts of useful resources. Edith ran his hands over his slightly dirtied shirt and eyed it. he supposed sewing would be useful. If she could sew, then she could mend torn garments or mesh some together to make a strong blanket or sack. But again, it all came down to resources. He had no thread or needles. He needed to find some he supposed.
"Nah. Do not apologize. I understand...but..if you want to take a shower.." He ran a hand over his chin and eyed her up and down thoughtfully. "Why don't I come with you. I can stand outside and watch while you wash. I mean..the hall. Not you." He quickly added with his hands lifting and waving before himself.

Dimas did not like how the shorter man continued to look over up and down. She really wish he had not stumbled on her right now, just so he would stop looking her over like that. She looked up at him as he told her that she should not be sorry. But then she caught the more intent look he gave over her and at his words her light shifted and burned an orange color. "Watch as i wash...." she repeated and she allowed her hair to fall over her face not wanting to see him or him to look at her.
"Well...there is....a lock on the woman's bathroom....but if you want to wait out side you can....though I take a long shower...you would be wasting searching time." she said softly before she lifted her head just enough that her hair would part and show the tiniest sliver of her eyes and face.

Hmph. It seemed her mind had flickered to the same thing that Edith had been hoping to avoid insinuating. Though he supposed he ought to have been tempted to try and peek right? Edith though had no desire to see Dimas naked....No consciously acknowledged desire. His gray eyes furrowed as he looked up at the girl, and he shrugged his shoulders slightly.
"There is no guarantee that it'll keep you safe, or that it locks properly. But hey. If you want to take that risk go right ahead." Edith made a small gesture with his hand out the door. "I wouldn't take too long of one though, you never know what sort of creep may be waiting for a woman to be in there. They could see it as a chance to find someone in a vulnerable state." Edith allowed his lips to curl upwards into a faint smile. "I would like to help though, surely you'd feel more secure if I stood watch? Besides...look at me." Edith made a small gesture over himself.
"You could knock me on my butt with a little push. You can't be nervous of me!"
