A large, thick forest walls off the southern and western edge of the town, providing a tranquil backdrop for the town. Children often play in the outer area of the forest, finding it to be a spectacular place for adventure and entertainment, when the circus wasn’t performing, that is. However, none dare to go too deep in the forest, as the townsfolk suspect that foul spirits plague the area, and disappearances have been known. However, these disappearances are mostly caused by mischievous fae and their circles, and most of the disappeared souls return after some time.
However, those who chose to ignore the towns peoples’ warning will find that the deeper portion of the forest is an incredibly beautiful place, especially if one follows along the river that runs through it. Towards the center of the wood are a small waterfall and an underground cavern and river. The system of caverns are illuminated beautifully by blue glowing stones, left over from a settlement of fae that called the underground river home.
Fauna and flora are abundant, since most of the residents in the surrounding area are too fearful to trek to deep into the area, so most of the forest seems to be untouched by the destructive hands of man. It’s a beautiful, quiet place, perfect for getting away for a moment of peace or a romantic meeting.
But one should keep in mind to watch out for the fae. They’re not harmful, but very playful and mischievous, which could bode negatively for the ill-prepared.
