Tukutu's eyes narrowed as he studied the new 'recruits'. It was better than nothing, really, but they were such a rag tag group. He didn't know how he felt with the fact of the two new slaves, too, but they would do. If nothing else, they might entertain some of the bored hyenas around here. Life was drab, dreary, and honestly, plain boring.

Masuko, who was still young but knowing her future place in the pack, was much more interested than her father. Then again, she could tell that he was just a waste of space. She sort of liked him...but he wasn't worth much. He had a way of getting rogue hyenas to join, but that was his only skill. Masuko knew that she wouldn't need him around much once she was Alpha. He was old enough, he could just die in peace.

"Welcome," the young pup said. She got a curious look from her father, but she ignored it. If they weren't going to listen to her, juvenile or not, then they weren't worth anything. "My father here will assign you a skull to live in. It won't be of the best condition. You'll have to challenge other hyenas for the better skulls." Her tail flicked as she glanced up at her father, letting him take the stage.

Tukutu rolled his eyes, wondering just where the hell she got her attitude. She was more like Mafa than he had realized. Must be a female thing. "You'll get one good enough to block out most of the rain, but they won't be close to the watering hole. As Masuko said, you'll have to fight for the better things in the pack. You'll survive. We don't want anyone dying here." He chuckled, waiting to see if anyone would say anything. It wasn't paradise, but it was home. And in complete control of hyenas.

User Image Fulathela was sitting and listening to the two leader hyenas. At least, he assumed the little pup had some sort of authority or else she wouldn't be blabbing on. Fula scratched his ear with his hind foot. Damn itches. He tuned in briefly when they described having to fight for better skulls.

Well, that was a shame. He was a good fighter, Thela even really enjoyed fights. But it made his shadow uppity for days after a good one. Who really needed a good skull anyway? He could just find something to gather the rain water in and bingo! He wouldn't even need to be near the watering hole.

He kicked the dust a bit. Then again, it seemed awful dry around here. Ah well, he'd cross that fallen tree when he got to it. He sneezed at the dust he'd kicked up. And as if that was an invitation, Thela fled from his side and into the graveyard. Curses! Fula's attention went to the leadery types and mentally urged them to hurry up with their speeches so he could hunt his wayward shadow... again.

Skada hoped the ones in charge would keep this introduction short. She tried to sit attentively, but she could already feel her eyes unfocusing. She liked the part about living in a skull, and wasn't particularly worried about getting a better one by fighting for it. Not much difference from living in the roguelands after all. Living with a pride was supposed to be safer than toughing it out in the roguelands, but she sure hoped that there would still be some action. Ah, but she wouldn't have to worry, they still had to fight around dinnertime, right? She hadn't met many hyenas that shared a meal without at least nipping their neighbour. It made life more interesting... And... She glared at the male next to her as he disturbed her thoughts with a loud sneeze.

"Keep it down," she whispered and snapped her jaws at him. She was too far away to bite, but he'd hopefully get the message that she'd get close enough if he kept being annoying. "I'm trying to listen here!"

User ImageThe other black and white Hyena of the group sat up straight while he listened to the two talking. As uninterested as he was about hearing what they had to say, Itzal didn't want to be seen as thus. The cunning male knew it would be to his advantage to show respect and interest. Better to get on good footing with his new 'leaders' to avoid trouble in the future. He raised his paw to his mouth to give it one lick to hide the small smile that threatened to show on his lips. Wait a little bit, old boy. Only show meekness until you access the situation.

Watching the two intently, Itzal mentally chuckled. The young one had some authority, it seemed. Either by truth or just what she would like to believe, he was unsure. Who knew how this pack ran things. For the next few weeks, he would be sure to obey at his best to see exactly what they were offering. Whatever that turned out to be would make little difference in the end. The male had already decided to stick with this small pack of his own kind. Anything was better than being around felines. Those stuck up creatures.

The movement of the other newcomers caught his eye and he turned his smokey gray eyes over to them. The orange male didn't seem so bad, but Itzal wasn't sure about the female. She did have an interesting coloration, though. That he had to admit. But he could just be biased towards other black and white Hyena's such as himself.

Flicking his tail in the opposite direction of the two to curl as much around his leg as possible, the male moved his attention back to the two leaders. His ears focused forward in a stance of complete attention.

Sauti`laini couldn't tell if there was some power struggle between the two or if the younger female was merely a brash and bold girl, but Sauti didn't let her mind linger on the topic for long. It didn't really concern her and she very much preferred to keep her nose out of the business of others. It could get messy, and Sauti very much disliked messy.

While being rogue had its perks, nothing held the appeal that 'safety in numbers' did. So she would be forced to live in a skull that wasn't in the most pristine of conditions. Feh. So she would be forced to walk a distance to the watering hole. Pff. She was surrounded by fellow hyenas and though they'd all joined for their own reasons, the were bound together now under the name of a singular pack.

Once they were done being spoken to by the male and the female, Sauti would be given her new home. There was something to be said for that, and it was exciting to the silent female. She had never had a place to call home before.

Mkali Mmoja looked carefully at each of the new members. He felt scared being by them, he cowered where he was trying not to get noticed. It was hard when he was the brightest thing this pack has ever seen. He was sure this would make him an easier targeted slave then the others. Who knows the others may help him. He doubted that however. They were probably more likely to use him as a distraction to save them some time. He sighed quietly to himself. He didn't pay much attention to the leader or his daughter who seemed to have a lot of attitude.

As they spoke about homes Mkali was sure he would be stuck out in the rain, he would not be able to fight these hyenas, or even challenge them for that matter. He would just mind his business and try to avoid any contact. There must be something good here for him though. He doubted it but he would try. He watched the other hyena's to him they all seemed well uhh...dumb. They didn't look like they had much to them, more like a random bunch of rouge's. However he did not mind, he knew he was smart and he would use it to his best ability.

Tukutu seemed content with the group. It was going to work. He turned to leave, since it didn't seem like anyone really needed anything.

Masuko grinned. The juvenile probably deserved a smack, but the only one that she'd allow that from water her father. And...maybe her mother. She was going to rule this pack, and it was going to be successful. Not a failure.

"Come find either one of us if you need help," she said, narrowing her eyes on the little wild dog pup. He wasn't going to stat away for too long, she thought, as she flicked her own tail before scampering off to catch up with her father.

Jela was excited. Well, considering that she was a slave and had a pretty miserable lot in life, she probably shouldn't be... but she was. The reason for that was the landscape around her. With all of the bleached-out bones and shadows, she could blend in almost anywhere! And blending in meant lots of nap opportunities!

She could hide for hours here and not have to do a lick of work.

Maybe life as a slave in this place wouldn't be so bad...

Huh, looks like the introduction was done. Short and effective, just the way she liked it. Skada took one last look at the others joining with her, trying to figure out their relative strength. The puny dogs were not really a threat to anyone, but they were apparently going to be "slaves" anyway and that did sound promising. She could use a slave... For something.

Ah, well. Better scramble to get first in line for a new den. She would fight to get what she wanted, but if she could accomplish the same thing by being quick she would.

Itzal wasn't none too disappointed to see the introductions had been done quickly. He really had no intentions of staying around these others any longer than was necessary. And, far as he was concerned, this had been long enough. He was more than ready to leave this group and find his permanent home until he died. An old fool like himself couldn't be content living out in the roguelands without much protection for very long. He was on the verge of old age.

With one last look over the group, certain he would barely remember any of them after today, the black and white Hyena stalked off in a different direction than everyone else. In hopes he wouldn't have to fight anyone just yet for somewhere to call home. All he wanted was a good rest.
