It was a lovely morning, the sun peaking out just above the clouds. Yunai had woken up early, determined to finish climbing the mountain. Her quest had been to find the 'Scarlet Gilia', a delicate red flower. She had heard that it smelled similar to a skunk, but that wasn't enough to stop her from looking. The shamen that her sister was staying with said that it's leaves made a fine tea, and Yunai set off with the mindset to give it to the elder as a gift.
Her quest up the mountain side had been rather uneventful. She spent most of the time on the lookout for the small red flower, but she couldn't deny getting lost in the beauty around her. It reminded her of the place she grew up, her and her sister having been found as baskets by a usdia mare. The smaller mare had been kind enough to take the two of them in, without even knowing what the rainbow colored baskets contained. Yunai smiled, how surprised had her mother been when she and her sister appeared from their baskets. They had been called a blessing. Yunai paused in step when a small hint of red caught her eye. A trumpet-like flowers hung from thin stems just off path from her. Reaching forward, she dared to take a sniff of the flower, only to be surprised when it didn't give of a distasteful smell. It fit the discription, and Yunai was convinced that it was right. Breaking the stem with her teeth, Yunai collected just enough, placing the red flowers and their stems in her tail.
Spitting out the crushed leaves that split in her mouth, Yunai realised that she had made a mistake. It was the right flower- the leaves had been the sorce of the "skunk" smell... and she had mistakenly used her mouth to- "Eww" She frowned, looking around to make sure she didn't have an audience. The only thing in her company, was the small white kitten resting on her rump. It was much more concerned with the new additions to her tail to bother watching what she was doing. Yunai spit, trying to get the taste (and smell) out of her mouth. If only she kept mint on her person.

Sighing, Yunai gave up. If by a chance someone came across her, hopefully the sweet aroma of the various flowers decorating her hair would cancel out the unpleasent smell. Yunai blinked slowly looking up to allow her eyes to roam over the hillside. It was a beautiful sight. A light fog still hung in the air around her, though it was light enough to allow her to view the landscape below. Beyond the hillside of pinetrees there was a clear field decorated by patches of flowers. A stream crossed through the valley, disappearing into the forrest that surrounded the edges. She could only wander how many others had been up this high to view such a timeless picture.
Closing her eyes, Yunai took a moment and breathed in. The air was thin, due to the height she had traveled, yet in a way, the cold air was still refreshing. She had made it this high without giving up or using her wings. Taking one more look, Yunai decided it was time to make her way back down.

Chantesuta panted heavily, trying to remember to take slow, deep breaths as his traveling partner insisted he do. They had spent well over a week climbing this mountain, pausing whenever the air grew too thin and let them adjust to prevent mountain sickness, lacking the ability to adjust quickly to thin air like the high flying breeds. The weights strapped to his legs and across his back felt heavier by each passing minute, as if his mentor had somehow been sneaking more rocks into them, the steady climb up wearing down on the Squire, the clouds making the grass and rocks somewhat slippery, forcing him to be careful with his steps.

He had grown to loathe mountains.

How his mentor traveled up so effortlessly ahead of him was beyond the pale brown stallions comprehension -- the man was middle aged, and he was still well within the prime of his youth. How could someone so... Old be so fit?, he snorted as his brain thought it, sick of the view of the long lionine tail, the dark flanks flexing ahead of him, and the glow of those strange mushrooms.

Gasping for breath, unaware of what or who they were nearing, he moaned slightly, a bit of whine in his voice, "Can we stop and rest a bit longer? I need a break."

Walking ahead of the puffing younger man behind him, Singeri was enjoying the morning. The clouds had parted enough that they were no longer walking through them, well above most on this mountain side. The air was crisp and clear, free of grit of the more traveled trails. They were in Wind and Angeni country, where usually only the gracefully balanced Cerynei and the light walking Kirin can travel without wing.

And even they usually resided below, only the ones that had grown used to the thinner air, like the goats and mountain sheep that were occasionally found on the faces of these majestic monuments to mother nature, stayed for any length of time. To be here was a rare honor, the view humbling and the trek up it honest, difficult work.

Singeri's own steps remained light, despite wearing a heavier load then what the other stallion bore, dew and sweat glistening in the morning sun across his coat of short, dark fur. This exercise gave strength, endurance. Taught proper breathing and a broader view of the world beyond what lay just at the end of ones nose...

"Can we stop and rest a bit longer? I need a break."

The older stallion rolled his eyes dramaticly, huffing slightly as his ears backed slightly. They'd hardly been moving for more then an hour, and this was not the first time the younger stallion had moaned.

With a practiced stomp of his hoof, he sent a rock spinning behind himself, the small pebble stinging itself between the nostrils of the stallion behind him, causing an outcry more of shock then pain, and grow silent and drooped behind him, message received, loud and clear.

The scent of... Skunk? Not skunk, some sort of plant with a similar scent. .. what he believed to be Scarlet Gilia caught his attention. Alerting him to the fact they were not alone. The plant did not cause the smell unless damaged, and only produced it and the vile flavor for a short period of time.

His ears perked and he sniffed again, focusing on the direction of the wind as his glowing eyes calculated. His attention was then drawn by the warm colored, opalescent Angeni not too far away, enjoying the scenery but obviously still attempting to get the flavor from her mouth. A polite chuckle escaped his lips as he took a step her way -- he knew this spot was a good one for observing the land they lived in spread out below, and flat enough for a good break. He paused, clearing his throat so the mare would be aware of his presence, if Chantesuta's complaints had not alerted her already, and bowed politely, one leg stretching out ahead of him and the other bending down, the bow deep.

Chantesuta watched as the older knight bowed down, not sure, exactly, what he bowed down to, as his gaze seemed to simply slide away and avoid the mare, her power preventing him from laying his gaze on her enough to be aware of her presence, "Old man, has the mountain gotten to your head?.. You don't have to bow to a patch of grass, you just eat i-OW!" He stepped, not really hurt but the smack of the tail across his already tender snout made him flinch, wiggling his nose before sighing and bowing somewhat half heartedly, body trembling from the weight he bore.

Yunai hadn't been aware of the arrival of the knight and his ward. A small tug was pulling at her heart like it had when a small foal was around the area but she dismissed it. No child would be this far up the moutain side. Her tongue scraped against the edges of her teeth, trying to remove any flakes that might have gotten stuck. The leaves luckily didn't taste as bad as the smell they produced, but the thought was enough to want to get any particle left in her mouth out. Maybe she would stop by the clear stream that passed through the valley after making her way back down? It sounded like a good plan.
About to turn tail to the peaceful scene, a rumble of someone clearing their throat caught her attention. She paused, almost comicly, her hoof half way in the air ready to take the next step. Her head slowly turned towards the direction the noise came from. She had been ready to find the form of a Kalona or something equally as terrifying there, but instead found two somewhat normal looking stallions standing not far from her.

Yunai corrected herself, 'One normal looking stallion. The other...' Yunai blinked, taking in the sight of the obvious older male bowing down to her while the other stared at him in oblivion. Cyan colored spikes decorated his forehead and shoulders, his green mane falling around them pleasantly. The shining blue of his eyes dissapeared under their lids as he bowed, his long tail shooting out to smack his companion's nose. The other male seemed to understand the silent order, and dipped into a bow. Yunai laughed, amused at the comment the brown coated stallion made before bowing. She could tell by the way the smaller male's eyes avoided her form that he couldn't see her. That would mean that- "You can see me?" She smiled, dipping down into a short bow of her own. Her eyes glittered happily, pleased to see a male who had enough manners to greet a mare properly. Now a days, it was considered old fashioned. Yunai couldn't figure out why such a polite gesture faded through the generations. She raised her head back up, only after he moved. Her heart skipped a beat when his glowing eyes fell upon her form. It had been awhile since a Soquili out of foal-hood had been able to see her. 'Don't forget your manners now,' She reminded herself, the small smile not falling from her face for a moment. "My name is Yunai," She introduced herself, leaving out her title. The brown male still seem oblivious as to what his companion was doing.

The old man seemed to be losing it, bowing to a patch of grass and the faint scent of skunk, and making him do so as well.

Chantesuta could only hope that when the fellow went completely senile he wouldn't go off and kill him in his sle-

"You can See me?"

... What was that? WHO said that?

Chantesuta's eyes squinted open, trying to see who had asked that. Unable to focus his gaze on the mare, it still seemed no one was there. However, as the open space introduced itself as Yunai, it proved too much for the stallion as realization of the 'truth' struck the stallion; They were in the presence of a ghost.

And thus he acted accordingly.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" The pale chestnut stallion flailed back, staggering and stumbling with the weight on his back and limbs, tumbling over onto his back as his momentum carried him, his feet flailing in the ground, "Run old man run! Its a ghost, we can't fight ghosts! Its gonna suck our guts out through our skulls, We're gonna diiiiiiiiie if we don't run! HELP I THINK IT'S GOT ME!!"

Singeri waited for Yunai's bow finished before unfolding from his own, smile pleasantly as he nodded in response to her question of his ability to see her, though he had an amused glint in his eyes, a silent laugh trembling his shoulders slightly, wondering what sort of question it was, not realizing that his companion couldn't see the mare.

Opening his mouth to respond, his teeth clicked shut and eyes bugged slightly as the younger stallion freaked, howling in fear and quickly getting himself stuck on his back. He looked at his squire incredulously, lip curled and brows furrowed, eyes wide in disbelief. He met Yunai's eyes, ears drooped as he shrugged appologeticly, then blinked a bit, looking back at his squire, brain clicking the pieces together rapidly as he glanced back at the angeni, and back at Chantesuta.

Realization struck his face and he chuckled slightly, moving so he was near Chantesuta's face, and clearing his throat a bit. When that didn't get the other stallion to calm down, he stomped his foot twice, causing the paler stallion to flinch and whimper, turtling slightly before peeking.

The two stared at each other a bit, and Singeri snorted, raising one eyebrow and smiling a bit with a toss of his head, tapping his hoof lightly on a rock. He then rolled his eyes and helped the other stallion upright, holding himself strong and superior as the now calming stallion wobbled himself upright.

"Seriously?" Chantesuta snorted, the fur around his muzzle darker and redder than usual from the look the other man gave him, legs trembling, "Ah.. S-sorry.. Madam.. Misses? Miss ghost.. Spirit.... Ah.. I am.." He squeaked slightly as a rock shifted and made a clunk noise, turning his head to it, and he turned to watch the location the sound was, continuing the introduction there, his back to Yunai as he spoke to what he thought was her, "Ah.. I am Chantesuta.. The old man- I mean my Mentor here with me is Singeri..."
