Why are you a gamer? How did you become a gamer?
I play because of the challenge. It's fun to play with my friends, playing together or massacring each other. It offers challenges, fun times, and sense of achievement. I have my grandmother to thank for starting me on gaming. She started me on DOS, and I've been a off and on gamer til the last 4 years. I'm now an avid gamer.

Interesting question.
I was first introduced to games when my cousin introduced me to his ancient tank version of the SNES and Super Mario World plus his Gameboy Classic. I only watched him play and eventually I got the slim version SNES as a gift from my dad when I was around 5-6.
Fast forward several years and I'm a 9 year old about to receive my very first computer. When Christmas swung by, my cousin saved up as much money as she could at the time and bought me the Starcraft Battlechest package. My love for gaming started with Starcraft. I still have everything that came in the Battlechest package...though its in pretty bad shape. The original cd can't be read anymore. I'm only keeping it as a fond memory of how my path in gaming started.
Shortly after I started playing Starcraft, I received dial-up internet and blam. I was introduced to the infinite database. I found my way to Gamefaqs and started going crazy on research. I did research on games and started saving up some money so I could get some of them and voila. Today, I still before you. A proud 13-14 year old gamer. 3nodding

Nice question, you should make more questions more often.
Well I game because it's more interesting then books and it's more fun then school. Also it's a time where I can be myself. It's a great getaway and plus the games just get more awesomer every year!
I became a gamer when I first laid hands on the Sega Genisis that my dad got. I was hooked and loved playing Sonic the Hedgehog. Soon it became a hobby.

Simple. I enjoy video games. smile
I've been playing since I was little, during the days of the NES and Sega Genesis. I've often watched my parents play as well.
I don't consider myself a hardcore or a casual gamer. I'm simply a gamer, simple as that. No need to make things more difficult than it has to be.

๑I started as a tot and enjoyed games ever since. I want to try more and more games and improve as I play. Gaming is not just a vent for me, it's a passion.๑

I am a gamer for the oldest reason in the book; I enjoy played video games. Really, that seems like a cop-out answer but I see nothing deeper than that as a reasoning. I grew up playing video games and enjoying them. I continued because I continued to enjoy them. Video games are fun, which is why I can enjoy such a large variety of genres.

i don't really know why i'm a gamer except for the reason i think is that it allows me to exist in another world doing whatever i want without physical mental or emotional harm really done to me in real life. i started gaming in third grade so around being 5 or 7 maybe a bit earlier

Well: My father owned a video game shop when I was about 3 years old. So we had the latest consoles, and he'd always bring home games for me to try. (Though I wasn't good at them) Unfortunately, he closed his shop in about '04. But I still kept on playing....

It's my Dad's fault that I am a gamer. He bought me my first game system and my first game. He is also a big gamer himself so there are a lot of games he had that I could play when I visited him. It also helped to have someone to talk about the games with. As for the reason I became a gamer myself is simply because video games are enjoyable.

I am originally no gamer boy, before I became a gamer, I was the big soccer guy. Luckily one of my friends invited me several times back to his home, with his big computer and allowed me to play for hours on end. And big boom, I became a gamer and got myself an even better computer than his! (Bragging rights has now been sold to ME).

Games have been in my life for a long time. I grew up with a snes, playstation and gameboy. But it wasn't until high school did I really get interested in gaming. It is perfect way for me to relieve stress and escape reality for a couple hours. I want to play all the games that I didn't get a chance to play when I was younger. I also want to play new releases so I can talk to friends about what's new and interesting.

Well, it's been over 20 years since I started gaming it up like a pro-nerd, so I guess by this point it's just force of habit?
Really though, I first played because it was something new and interesting to try, and just became infatuated with gaming in general. I've had a few slumps where I have just lost interest, but I always eventually come back to it.

I'm a gamer for a number of reasons, but there are two that I find truly responsible for turning me on to gaming. First, I was raised with video games all around me from a young age. My dad, older brother and all of my cousins played video games, so it was inevitable Also, since I was raised an only child (I was raised by my mother and don't share the same mom with my brother and sister) I had to find some kind of way to occupy my time alone. Video games were one of the best ways to kill a few hours.
Aside from those reasons, I really enjoy the immersion aspect of video games as well as seeing other people's creative visions. It's amazing to see what people are capable of creating and really seeing it come to life.
