Logan was excited. He was genuinely excited. He was getting to go to the zoo with his dad while his twin and his twin's dad went else where. Logan hardly ever got to spend time with his dad. Mickenzie was always on the computer doing his business. Logan didn't know what his daddy did, but he felt it was something super important to help the world out!
The car ride there was miserable. Daddy didn't pay him much attention. Instead, his daddy had that stupid ear thingy in and was talking angrily at people.
But they were finally here! After a million years, they stood in line at the zoo gates to be let in and get their tickets. When it was their turn, Mickenzie paid for the tickets and took Logan by the hand, gently tugging him further into the establishment.
"Daddy, I wanna see a tiger!"
"We can go see the tigers, Logan. But first, do you want to see something really cute?"
Logan nodded and that's when daddy brought him to the penguin exhibit. He pressed his nose against the glass as he watched the cute black and white birds do what they did and make those adorable noises. "I wanna be one!"

"Uncle Greg?" Devan asked from his uncle's side. He was holding the short Spanish man's hand.
"Yes?" He glanced down at the boy who struggled with is over sized golf that.
"How come momma hates the zoo?" He was trying to get on his tip toes to peer around people. So far he'd only caught glimpses of the world inside the gates.
The man hesitated, "Well she's... a fox and foxes don't like cages." He said uneasily. "Oh look the penguins." He tugged the kid into the exhibit once they got passed the gate.
Devan glanced just as a boy said he wanted to be one. They looked funny to be him. He glanced over at the other boy and wagged his spade slightly. A wing! He fluttered his own wings and edged closer bit by bit. "Hi.." He said quietly.

His wings fluttered when he heard another child's voice close to him and he turned, spotting the wings. Giggling, shied away against his father's leg and bit on his lip, waving a little bit. He looked up to his dad, who was looking down at him and pointed to the other little boy before hiding again.
Kenzie blinked when he saw the other boys wings and then looked to the boy's caretaker. "Hello, there. Sorry about him. Logan's not the most ...outgoing boy in the world." He gave Logan a little push with his legs, trying to get him to the other boy. "Say hi, Logan."
The child gave a whimper and wrapped his arms around himself before smiling at Devan again. "H....hi..."
"I'm Mickenzie. Kenzie for short." He held his hand out for Devan's caretaker's hand.

Devan looked confused when the other boy moved away. He sounded happy but he was moving away. He went to investigate around the other man's legs, tail flickering. "I'm Devan! Are you here to see the animals too?" He told the other boy opening his wings.
Gregory looked relieved to see a semi normal caretaker and held out his hand. "Gregory. I'm Devan's uncle." He clarified.

"Oh yeah? His uncle? I would have mistaken you for his father." He grinned a little then looked down to the boys who were crowding his legs. Gyaaah, if there was one thing he hated, it was being crowded. So, he pulled Logan away from him and pushed him toward Devan away from him. "Go on, Logan. Go make friends, OK? Watch the penguins." Yeah, Mickenzie really was a good father, he just hated crowds. And that's what a zoo was.
Logan whined when his dad pulled him away and made him go near Devan. Why couldn't Leander be here? Leander was the more outgoing of them! Looking down, his cheeks flushed and he nodded a little. "Y-yes... I'm... seeing the penguins.. I wanna be one."

Greg rubbed a hand behind his head. "Oh, well... I guess you could say that. I'm not related to his mother or anything. I'm more of a close family friend but... he calls me his Uncle." He watched Kenzie for a moment and smirked. He clearly didn't want to be surrounded. "Hey there's a bench over there. We could sit down for a bit away from the crowd. I know Dev'll be fine without me for a bit. He'll watch Logan."
Devan was clearly confused by the boy's actions. He wasn't used to someone so clingy but his mother didn't let him be. He let out a little laugh, "Be a penguin? That sounds like a lot of fun! You could waddle all the time like this!" He began to stiffly waddle around trying to make the other boy laugh. "And eat fish! Lots of it... oh and swim!"

Kenzie looked hesitant but he went with the other man. He could still keep an eye on the boys, at least. If he didn't, they could end up falling into an animal pin. He never thought of zoos as dangerous before, but since getting Logan in his life, everything seemed to be a danger to the boy.
Logan looked up when the other boy started to waddle and giggled a little before his face flushed and he played with his hair. "I don't like fish... and I don't know how to swim, but I'd like to slide on my tummy like that one..." His voice was low and held excitement, even if his body language didn't. Carefully, he pointed to the sliding penguin and gave a little goofy smile.
"I.. I like your wings," he told Devan quietly, playing with his shirt now and letting his brows knit together. What else should he say?

Gregory chuckled, sensing that the latching went both ways. He just relaxed and watched them from afar. Not seeming concerned at all about his charge. He knew Devan could handle himself.
At least he'd gotten a giggle. Score one for Devan. He smiled at the other boy and looked at the penguin giving a small laugh when it landed in water. "Oh! That does look fun! Too bad we don't have ice or I'd try!"
He paused to look back at his wings and flushed slightly himself. "Thanks! I like them too. Oh, here you go." He reached over to one and gave a wince before plucking out a medium sized feather and handing it to him. "That way if we get separated or can't see each other again we always remember being friends!"

Logan's face lite up when he received the feather. Carefully, he removed a smaller feather from his wing and winced when he pulled it out. Handing it to the boy, he grinned and nodded. "Yeah! So when we're older, we can try to find each other again!" The shyness had gone with the exchange of feathers. Carefully tucking tucking the feather in his hair, the boy laughed and looked to the penguins again.
"Daddy and I are gonna see the snakes soon. Do you wanna come?" He tilted his head and took Devan's hand in his, just because he could. "Or we're gonna see the tigers. I wanna see both!" The snakes reminded him of his twin's tentacles and the tigers were cute and big and Logan's room was decorated in them.

Devan carefully took the feather and stroked it in almost a loving fashion. Another one to put on his necklace. Great! It was really becoming quiet the collection. "That would make me really happy." He said sincerely with a gentle smile. He wished he could see all his friends again-even those who didn't remember.
He lit up and smiled, "Yah! I've only been told about snakes." He said intertwining their fingers. "We can see both! I think we should find what's closer first that way we can make sure to see everything."

The boy laughed and grinned and tugged Devan over to their guardians and parents. "Daddy, daddy, can he come and see the snakes and tigers with us?! Can he, please?" Those yellow eyes went big and huge and even a little misty to try to get what he wanted. That was Logan's way. If his dad said no he would scream and cry and throw a fit and his dad would say yes. That's how it worked in his spoiled little world.
Mickenzie sighed and rubbed his forehead a little before looking to Greg. "I'm not the one you should be asking, Logan.. Try asking Mr. Greg..." Though Kenzie was clearly having a time taking care of this rambunctious little boy by himself. With the heat, his weak heart was beating awkwardly already. His hand went into his pocket where he stroked his bottle of medication. He might have to call it a day really early.

Devan smiled at his Uncle and gave a bit of a wave to him when they approached. "Hello, Uncle Gregory! We saw penguins. Did you see them? They slid on ice!" He used his tail to hold out the feather and smiled when automatically Greg took it and put it into his pack. There. Now it was safe and sound.
"Sure thing, kiddo." Greg said affectionately. He stood up and ruffled Devan's hair before giving a look toward Mickenzie. His eyes narrowed but he didn't say anything. "Alright, kids. To the uh-" He tilted his head to look at a sign, "snakes! Looks like they're closest... to the penguins. Sure, I'll go with that."

Logan gave a whoop when Greg agreed to this. Laughing, he took Devan's hand after pocketing the feather carefully and tugged the other boy toward the direction Greg pointed without thinking to weight up for their adults. His hair bounced with him, since the gel didn't last too long before it just gave up. So his once spikey hair was falling down into his face.
"C'mon, Devan, maybe we'll see the ones that make noise with their tails!"
Kenzie walked after the boys quietly before shaking his head and stopping. He pulled out the bottle of pills and popped one of them before pocketing them again. He got good at taking pills dry. He just prayed Greg wouldn't ask him about it or think he was some kind of drug head.

Devan laughed as he was pulled off. "Wait up!" He said trying to lock his tail around the other boy's arm. "They make noises with his tail?" He asked as his voice reached almost a whine. He wanted something to make his tail make noise.
Oh no. He'd have to get him something for his tail if his Envy side was kicking in. Greg sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He did notice the bottle and fell back until he was beside Kenzie. "Are you feeling alright?" He inquired quietly still watching the kids.

"Yeah! It's all..." he tried to mimic a rattle snake tail, but he couldn't quite do it. "Something like that..." His face was flushed and red by the time they got to the snake tanks and he went around looking for them for a minute. He didn't have a tail, so he couldn't be envious about that. However, he was envious of those feathers Devan had! His were just small ones... But Devan had HUGE ones. He could probably fly really well with them!
Kenzie nodded and put a hand to his chest for a moment. They were quick activating, so he felt his heart slowly starting to beat normally. Now, however, he walked a little wobbly. It was a side effect of the tranq but he could deal with it. "I have a weak heart... Sometimes it... beats too fast or skips a beat, so I have to take these pills.. It's just a little too warm for me out here is all." He put his hands in his pockets and didn't look at the other. Clearly the man didn't like talking about it.
