The large, pink and purple lion wasn't entirely unused to being lonely. In fact, he wasn't sure he recognized the emotion as many other lions seemed to. It didn't wear him down, or make him sad. It didn't seem to mean anything to him, personally, or maybe he just wasn't admitting to it. No, he felt loneliness like he felt pain or hunger, a fleeting emotion that required some attention, but could be relieved with some small effort.
He didn't know a lasting, miserable loneliness only because he had never gotten close to anyone in his life, and so didn't know how to miss them.
Being alone was just how he was built.
He was sitting by a small, very small, puddle of a lake. The water was clean enough, collected from a heavy rain a week or so ago and slowly drying up. He was staring at himself, frowning as he always did, like his face had been made that way rather than with a neutral or vaguely happy 'normal' expression like others had. And he was lost in thought, which only deepened the frown. It looked very much like he was scowling at himself.

The lioness slowly roamed through the land. Her stomach slightly distended from a good meal not too long ago, and now she was looking for something to wash it down with. The brown and black blotched female figured it might be a long trek to find a decent sized pool with clean enough water. This thought didn't wipe the smile from her face though. Then again, it was rare to ever find herself upset about anything, or at least for long. Always the optimist, she sees the good things in everything, even in something the normal lion would view as something horrible.
After some time, she still had no luck, but she didn't mind. Stopping, she let out a small yawn before grooming her face for a brief moment. When she finished with that, she walked forward again. Soon enough, as she walked, she was sure she spotted something in the distance. It wasn't a body of water of any kind, it was much larger. Was that another lion? Well, she couldn't be certain until she got closer. So, with a flick of her tail, she slowly approached the figure she spotted.

mekoza was watching his reflection when he heard something crunch behind him. A leaf. Someone was walking up behind him! He felt panic hit him and he leaped into the air, twisting around and landing heavily, his back feet splashing in the water, his body hunched down and his fur raised to pin pricks as he stared at her with wide eyes.
His stance was not particularly menacing, instead he looked scared. Like a kitten trying to defend itself from a much bigger foe, and having no idea how to do that.
Imekoza was too used to being alone. He didn't know how to interact with others, in any fashion. Generally, his large frame and his constant frown kept lions and other creatures at bay, and he was adept at keeping out of the way of others for the most part. He did not like to be on his own, but it was just how he felt he was supposed to be.
He didn't say anything for a moment, just staring at her with wide eyes.

Ayokunle didn't make anything to the leaf she had stepped on, it wasn't like she was trying to sneak up on the other lion or anything. Seeing the other suddenly jump up, she stopped her 'trek' toward them, crouching down slightly, as if she was preparing to take off in the other direction in the case this other decided to come after her.
When the 'turmoil' had settled, she looked ahead at the male that was now partially in the water and, seemingly, frightened to this. A rare frown formed on her face as she raised herself up. Slowly, she took a careful step to him, bowing her head softly. "I am so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." She apologized, giving him a warm, comforting smile.

He watched her as she came toward him, tense and unsure what to do. His eyes darted back and forth, searching for an escape path. Despite the fact that he was a very large male, well built and more than a little intimidating, he had no real fight in him.
He was a push over. He'd been called a wuss, and a lot worse, more times than he could remember. When he'd been young, anyway, and other creatures had talked to him.
Before they all got scared.
Maybe that was why he did it. The frowning, the quiet. The staying away from everyone.
"It's... okay," he said, very quietly, lifting himself a little from the water. He watched her, not sure what else to say. Usually this is was when they left. He tried a smile.
It didn't work. he just made a stupid face instead.

When he had said that it was okay, she felt far from reassured. She couldn't quite place it, but something seemed to be bothering him, like he was nervous or something. Was it because of her? She frowned at the thought, but it didn't last long.
Not wanting to make him more uncomfortable than he seemed to be, she sat where she was and curled her tail around her paws. She watched as his face contorted into some weird grimace of some sort. Her head tilted in attempt to figure out what he was trying to do. She wasn't able to figure it out, the only thing she knew that it was quite amusing and she gave out a small giggle.
"I'm sorry to giggle." She apologized, smiling warmly at him. "I should introduce myself. I'm Ayokunle, and you are?"
