In strange lands and also feeling quite wary, Abidemi was out scouting and on part of the temporary leave of the Firekin, acting as a sentinel. Typically he traveled with a newer member, Cyprinnus, but today they’d chosen to split up for a while and reconvene that night. Everything seemed pretty normal. If he wasn’t careful he’d fall back into the rogue sort of feeling. He hadn’t been a Firekin all of his life. It was most certainly his blood right, but he was a few generations removed and of rogue-blood. You wouldn’t guess by looking at his red coat, though, only by his slightly smaller stature. He’d been thrilled upon finding his grandmother was a nanny in the pride. She’d also been rogue growing up and had joined later in life. Though he had his mother and brothers in another pride, he felt his ties were strongest to the Simo.
He was surprised to come across a lioness when he did, although had he been paying better attention, he would have probably noticed her sooner.
“Oh, hello there!” He called out and slowly walked over to her. He figured he wouldn’t be making these out-of-pride trips too frequently, and would like to meet some lions while he did.
Kimo flinched before she turned to see who had called out to her. She scrambled to face the new lion and sheepishly answered, “H-hello…?”
Abidemi furrowed his brows. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to alarm you. I’m just passing through the area before I go back to my pride and thought I’d like to get to meet some strangers on my way.” He frowned. “If you’d like me to leave, that’d be no problem. I’m sorry, miss.” One of his paws was raised hesitantly, ready to turn and walk away.
Kimo’s ears went flat on her head. “N-no, it’s fine. I, uhm. I’m Kimo. It’s nice to meet you. I was… You’re just not who I was expecting to run into here.” She walked down from her mound and sat before the bright red lion. “So what pride are you from?”
Abidemi sat where he was and bobbed his head in an ‘alright.’ “I’m Abidemi. I was born in the Araba’shemu before I left, wandered for a while, and joined the Motoujamii-Simo as a hunter, then a soldier. I actually have more family there than my first pride. I’m just acting as a sentinel for now, I’ll be going back to the Firekin lands soon.” He looked around at the rather boring lands. “Do you live here by yourself?” He tilted his head, wondering who she was waiting for. A mate? Cubs? A familiar or a friend? She seemed like a pretty lioness, if not for a little bit shy and skittish. He hoped that whoever she was waiting for would return soon, for her sake.
