Guide: Skills

When you're going to try for a skill in a roleplay be sure to put: [Skill: (name of skill)] in the title, so that staff know you're going for a skill, or so that others might join you in the skill accomplishment.

For each skill you must complete one of the two rp prompts. However, if you feel you've found an alternative to these prompts which would still accomplish the same thing, you are free to freestlye it!

Keep in mind:
As a puppy you receive 1 slot
As a puppy grows to be a teenager they get 3 additional slots.
As a teenager grows to be an adult they receive 6 additional slots.
Total as an adult: 10 slots

Earning Skills
1. Skills are earned through roleplay.
2. In order to learn a skill your pet must complete a minimum of a 15 post roleplay (with decent posting sizes) with a focus of learning the skill.
3. In order to learn a skill, you MUST have somebody teach you. Unless otherwise indicated. When a pet is still young they may learn skills on their own.
4. The teacher must already know the skill.
5. Only ONE skill may be earned per roleplay, per players.

(Master Hunter) Skill: Killing Strike

(Master Hunter) Skill: Persistence
Prompt:
Sometimes, hunting will be hard and you'll find yourself out for several days on the same trail. Don't give up because the second you turn and head back is the second you could have caught your mark. Even a rabbit is a meal for someone and you're hunting for more than yourself.

(Master Hunter) Skill: Leader

-------

(Wild Animal) Skill: Fortitude
Prompt:
You're the independent type, barely a part of the pack anymore and thus, need to learn to rely on yourself more and more. Building up your fortitude to go days without food or water is a good idea because the odds are unlikely that anyone will bring you the nutrients you require.

(Wild Animal) Skill:Opportunist
Prompt:
Since you're falling out of the pack, you'll need to take advantage of anything and everything you get. If you see an abandoned carcass, go for it but you should realize that for every opportunity you take, you risk making someone mad. Sometimes, cornering your prey is the only way to make it to your next meal. Since you don't like to depend on others, you better learn how to trap your own prey.

(Wild Animal) Skill: Wit
Prompt:
Wild animals are quick-witted and tend to have a smart mouth. They know how to get themselves out of a bind as quick as they get themselves in so it's no surprise they don't mingle too much with the pack.

(Wild Animal) Skill: Wild
Prompt:
You feel more at home deep in the woods away from the other members of the pack so making your home there comes natural to you. You've given up on the social politics of pack life, and are now you've got to become one with your wild side, obey your natural instinct.

KNOWLEDGE SKILL PATH

Skill: KNOWLEDGE
Prompt 1: (Requires a mentor) Seeking out knowledge is the first step on your journey to help bring your pack into a brighter future. Go forth and find an older wolf to take you under his paw and teach you the ways to use your head.
Prompt 2: (Self-taught) Through a ton of experimentation, you’ve learned things that will come in handy. It hasn’t been easy and you’ve put your body through lots of pain to learn things like Poison Ivy isn’t edible but it does hold a curative property.

(Advisor)Skill: COERCION
Prompt 1: It will do you no good to come up with strategies if you can’t get people to listen to you. Use whatever means necessary to teach people your way is the right way. They may not like it at first but once they realize how much easier their lives are, they’ll come to you for advice more often. …maybe.
(Advisor)Skill: INTUITION
Prompt 1: Call it intuition or a gut feeling but you know what you know. Common sense will come in handy when advising the hunters on where the best prey will be or the herbalists on what time of year is best for planting their crops. Speak your mind, it’s your best quality.

(Sage)Skill: LOGIC
Prompt 1: Sometimes, you’ll come across a choice of whether to follow your emotions or do what is logically best. You must learn to ignore emotions when it comes to matters of the pack. The wolves might find you cold and heartless but if you’re helping the pack to become stronger, their opinions do not matter.
(Sage)Skill: PHILOSOPHY
Prompt 1: ‘I think, therefore I am.’ Philosophy is all about how you see the world around you. If you use this to your advantage, you can actually change your world by changing your view. Try to use this technique to turn a bad situation into something you can feel better about or at least, work with.

(Trusted Advisor)Skill: ORDER
Prompt 1: The alpha will often go to his most trusted advisors in times of hardship. You must keep both the pack and yourself in pristine order. After all, the alpha won’t ask for almanac aide from someone who cannot find their star charts in the clutter, right?
(Trusted Advisor)Skill: FREE WILL
Prompt 1: Trusted advisors are the alpha’s ‘go-to’ wolf on matters of war strategy, crop growth and any other up-coming disasters. You may not be the second in command officially but the pack looks up to you. They would do anything you ask but you must not abuse that position. You do not control the pack and if the alpha feels threatened, he may strip you of your dignity and your life.
(Trusted Advisor)Skill: INSPIRATION
Prompt 1: No matter how bleak it may be, it’s your duty to find the silver lining. It won’t be an easy task but you revel in rising to the occasion and enjoy pulling out that last ray of hope to cheer up your pack.
(Trusted Advisor)Skill: AUTHORITATIVE
Prompt 1: Your position demands respect. If the pack doesn’t respect you, they won’t listen to you so do not act foolish. You have authority over almost every wolf below the alpha but do not abuse it.
(Trusted Advisor)Skill: MASTER COERCION
Prompt 1: You’ve become very skilled at getting the others to do what you want. You’re so clever about it now that they usually don’t even realize they weren’t given a choice in the matter. It’s a dirty way to advise but it’s for the best and some wolves are just too stupid to know right from wrong, anyways.

(Mentor)Skill: WATCHFUL EYE
Prompt 1: Pups can be mischievous at times and tend to wander off or get distracted. You should keep a good eye on them if you’re going to teach them everything they wish to know.
(Mentor)Skill: STRENGTH
Prompt 1:Since you’re in charge of teaching the pups all the basic skills, you will need to be strong to teach them to be strong. Your strength pales in comparison to a warrior or hunter but it’s more than enough to help the little ones.
(Mentor)Skill: SPEED
Prompt 1: As with strength, this is necessary to teach to the next generation. Set up courses or just take them on morning runs to build up their speed until they’re ready to learn from someone more experienced than yourself.
(Mentor)Skill: ANIMA
Prompt 1: Although you can’t summon up the elements or combine herbs like the people that have focused on that craft, you are more than adequate enough in this field to help the pups start their journey.
(Mentor)Skill: EDUCATOR
Prompt 1: As a mentor, knowledge is your forte and you can help the pups down the path you yourself chose many moons ago. It also helps if you know how to cater your teachings to your audience. Be creative and make the lessons fun for the pups and or teens. Otherwise, they’ll get bored and leave you standing there like an idiot.

(Alchemist)Skill: CHEMIST
Prompt 1: Borrow some herbs and various other plants to create a new chemical. Will it be the next all-purpose healer or maybe you’ll just end up making an acid that can eat through rock. Perhaps, it’s a good idea to test your chemicals on someone else before you try to peddle it off to your own pack.
(Alchemist)Skill: EXPERIMENT
Prompt 1: Nobody gets what they want on the first try. It’s a good idea to experiment with different mixtures at various temperatures until you get it right.
(Alchemist)Skill: POTION MAKER
Prompt 1: Once you’ve found the perfect formula, you’ll need to learn how to make it more efficient so that there’s always plenty of the product on hand. This means you won’t have much time to hunt or even socialize so you may want to get an assistant to bring you your dinner.
(Alchemist)Skill: MATERIALIST
Prompt 1: As an alchemist, you value material possessions over things like relationships and emotions. It will make finding a mate hard since you’re married to your work.
(Alchemist)Skill: PRACTICALITY
Prompt 1: Finding simple, practical solutions to your problems will come easy for you as an alchemist. You can easily handle complex contraptions but why work harder when you can work smarter?

(Druid)Skill: EARTH’S HEART
Prompt 1: The earth provides for you in ways no others can. In return for her bounties, you must respect and care for the earth. Tend to all of it’s children, for you are their brother/sister.
(Druid)Skill: POWER OF THE BEAR
Prompt 1: For taking care of the earth, you’ve been granted great gifts. You have the natural strength of a bear. Use this to keep tending to your beloved earth and protecting her. If you should fail, you may lose this great gift.
(Druid)Skill: BIRD’S GRACE
Prompt 1: For taking care of the earth, you’ve been granted great gifts. You have the natural elegance and grace of a bird. Use this to keep tending to your beloved earth and protecting her. If you should fail, you may lose this great gift.
(Druid)Skill: TRANQUILITY
Prompt 1: A mind and body at rest unleashes great power. You can achieve this new level of abilities through meditation. Keep your mind and body calm through all emotions and you can ascend to a higher plain.
(Druid)Skill: NATURAL INSTINCT
Prompt 1: Listen to your instincts. These are the way earth communicates with you and guides you on your path. This is one of the less obvious gifts she has granted you and you should not ignore it.

Anima Skill Path
(Requires a Master of the field of study and an apprenticeship)

Skill: Anima
Prompt 1: So, you’ve decided to get in touch with your inner-spirit and follow the path of anima? This is an intense and grueling skill that puts you in touch with yourself and the world around you on a whole new level. Your first step is to seek out a mentor to teach you how to access that power inside of you. A normal mentor will work fine but if you really want to learn, find a master healer, crux, elementalist or seer. Since they all learn and teach anima the same way, it will not matter who teaches you this skill until you are a teen and choose to part off as a healer or shaman.

(Healer)Skill: Concentration
Prompt 1: As a pup, you learned to concentrate on your inner spirit to awaken it but now, it’s time to take that to the next level. Your master will show you how. If you listen and follow everything he says, you’ll become a healer in no time.
(Healer)Skill: Medic
Prompt 1: When you first start off as a healer, your cases will be menial things such as mending broken bones or healing cuts. Although these seem minor and can be healed with mere herbs and some bandaging, you must take them as serious as possible. Besides, nerve-damage isn’t uncommon with a broken leg and you will need to use your inner-spirit to heal those aspects that can’t be done away with by normal means.

(Shaman)Skill: Element
Prompt 1: You may have noticed as you studied anima that you seemed to be able to communicate with the very elements around you on some level. This is very common when accessing your inner-spirit but you must now learn how to control the element. At this stage, you can only request the element to aide you and there are many rules to follow. Your mentor will go over them with you. Just know this, you cannot control more than one element. If you try, you will destroy your inner spirit and it will die. Without your inner-spirit, your physical body will eventually rot and decay.
(Shaman)Skill: Reincarnation
Prompt 1: When your master feels you are ready, you will be given the ultimate test. A shaman is an ascended being and in order to reach this higher plane of existence, you must be reincarnated. This feat may come in several forms and only your master can choose the form in which he wants you to take. For most, it will be a spiritual journey through meditation. Others may need to cleanse themselves of the impurities of their ‘past lives’ to be reborn. The more dedicated shaman, elementalist or seers may require a more drastic approach by making you shed your physical body by dying. Don’t worry, they’re require by the shaman’s code to bring you back to the physical plane before you pass over.

(Master Healer)Skill: Herbalist
Prompt 1: Mixing herbs is a handy trick to healing most wounds and it helps to save your energy for serious cases. Although you could easily heal a cut through magic, it would leave you drained by the end of the day so use potions and creams to your advantage.
(Master Healer)Skill: Vitality
Prompt 1: It does you no good to be a healer for the pack if you aren’t in healthy shape yourself. A master healer keeps themselves in top form through a healthy diet and exercise and it’s not uncommon for a master healer to never get sick. This also leads to a longer life than the average wolf.
(Master Healer)Skill: Cure
Prompt 1: There are more maladies than just the physical and it’s your job to take care of them all. Curing poisons from the body and other such things is just another service you provide.
(Master Healer)Skill: Purify
Prompt 1: Purifying the wounds of your pack-members insures that they won’t suffer infection or poison later on and lose a limb or their life.
(Master Healer)Skill: Master Medic
Prompt 1: You’ve moved up from mending cuts in scrapes to being able to rush to the aide of anyone out in the field. You’re a valuable asset in hunting parties since a wounded member in the field will slow them down. Your job is to get in, heal them and get out of the way as quickly as possible. After all, a wild boar isn’t going to stand down from a charge just because you’re a healer.

(Crux)Skill: Weak Spot
Prompt 1: In times of war, you need to acquire information by unsavory means. Through your previous training, you learned that you can cause as much pain as you can relieve through applying pressure to the right spot. This can be used to interrogate a spy or catch prey. Your black-heart doesn’t care which as long as you’re given the chance to feed off the pain of others.
(Crux)Skill: Poison Maker
Prompt 1: You used to use herbs to heal the weak. Now, you use them to make the strong ill. Their death will not come quickly but you get a sick sense of enjoyment out of watching them suffer anyways so why not let them feel their body ache and rot from the inside out for a few weeks?
(Crux)Skill: Mental Focus
Prompt 1: You tend to work with some very dangerous concoctions so it’s good to keep your mind on the task at hand. If you were to drop a vial of acid on yourself, you’d die a slow death and you know this so do not allow yourself any distractions.
(Crux)Skill: Quick Reflexes
Prompt 1: Your world is dark and mysterious. Paranoia has become common placed with you and you’re untrustworthy of most. A fast step may save your life or end it so always be on your toes and ready to move at the first sign of attack.
(Crux)Skill: Last Words
Prompt 1: Once all is said and done, your enemy lies there, breathing it’s last breath. Although you feel no sorrow for him, you know his spirit must be sent off in a proper way or it will haunt your conscience so give this poor wounded beast his final words before you end his pathetic existence.

Skill: Chakra
Prompt 1: The strange energy that flows within you has been given a new name. Through intense training, your anima or inner-spirit has evolved into chakra and become even more powerful. Accessing this is the same as before but there is more to control so practice it and you’ll soon be able to do great things.
Skill: Element Attack
Prompt 1: Now that you’ve gained your elements trust, it will obey your commands. Use your chakra to communicate with it and attack. Your elemental attack will differ depending on element, fight style and amount of the element within reach of your chakra.
Skill: Element Shield
Prompt 1: As with attack, your elemental shield will differ. For example, the most common shield for a fire elementalist is the fire wall which not only shields you from attack but burns anyone that goes near it.
Skill: Unconventional Element
Prompt 1: You will soon find that everything around you is made up by the basic elements. Find at least one way to use your element that most wouldn’t think to use it. It could be something as complex as using the water in blood to wash away an illness or using the air around you to bring a rain-cloud over a dying crop.
Skill: At Peace
Prompt 1: Your chakra contains a lot of power and is bustling with energy. This can be a burden if you do not learn to calm it. The second you lose control of your chakra, you lose control of your element and the small fire you’re making to keep the pack warm bursts up and engulfs the entire forest.

(Seer)Skill: Chit-chat
Prompt 1: Getting to know the members of your pack is an important skill for all seers. If you converse with them, you’ll learn their characteristics which will help you to know what path of your visions they would fair better in taking.
(Seer)Skill: Clairvoyance
Prompt 1: You have the unique ability to see things beyond what normal senses can grant your pack. To most, this is just fortune telling but you know better. You’re just telling them what the world is telling you. Whether it’s the scent of rain in the clouds or the musk of a predator on the horizon.
(Seer)Skill: Dream Weaver
Prompt 1: You will learn that you’re able to access the dreams of your pack members with your new senses. You will even be able to alter the dreams in small ways. This can be used to hypnotize them into doing what you wish or to calm their restless spirit. Just know, all actions must be answered for by the pack.
(Seer)Skill: Mentalist
Prompt 1: People will often come to you with problems such as a missing pup or a destroyed crop. Using your unique abilities, you can see what happened through visions. The physical realms of time and object can be accessed through the mind and this is how you can say, without doubt, that you know what to do.
(Seer)Skill: Telekinesis
Prompt 1: The stronger you mental ability is, the heavier the object is that you can pick up with your mind. Telekinesis is the art of bending, moving or altering the physical with just your mind. Use this skill however you see fit since the brain is filled with boundless energy and never truly sleeps.
