The one in my car. It's dead.
Not nice when it's below zero, cold wind, 9 pm and you're away from home.

I feel for you with the cold part. It was -26C this morning. The warmest it's been this week in the morning was -22C. I have to walk to the station, which is about a 10 minute walk, wait for the train (that's always late, because of the cold), and after 8 minutes on the train I have to walk to my workplace, which is another 10 minute walk. It's terrible! Otherwise I'm okay, but I can't cover my face, so it freezes and goes numb and prickly. crying
[/rant] Good luck, kas. <3

Yeah... it's not as cold here, just like -6 maybe. Nevertheless, after today morning I totally understand why I use car to get to work.

Renault is no garbage. These are decent cars. Good engines, safe cars. Like mine.

Vauxhall? confused Vauxhall was British, currently owned by GM. Also, Renaults are hardly garbage - I'd strongly consider a Megane or Laguna Coupe if they were sold here in the States. And if I could afford a new car.

kacisko Joker scream evil Renault is no garbage. These are decent cars. Good engines, safe cars. Like mine. Safety is well and good, but if you're like me, you like a car with a bit of power to it stock. For instance- my first car (I LOOOOVE this thing) was a 1996 Ford Thunderbird LX with a 4.6 Liter V8 engine. YEAH, it only gets like... 17 miles to the gallon (26 highway) but regardless, nothing can match the feeling of having an almost painfully powerful engine rumbling under your feet as you barrel along the highway at 70 miles per hour. Now, if only I could afford to fix it up more, get a new body kit, a paint job, overhaul the engine.... Maybe install a cold-air filter, somehow try to rig a turbo system into it, get the engine block converted to a fuel-injection system, get a lift kit (it's a bit low to the ground), a new sound system (even though I have all the cholo-rigged hookups for one) and switch the transmission to a bump-shift..... Ohh, man I'm in auto heaven daydreaming about Maria being all shiney and sexy after i get done with her... ^_^;;

Joker, I'll blame it on the fact that you're an American xp
A rational European will use a European car which doesn't eat gasoline like a monster. If you don't understand why - look at the gasoline prices in Europe xp
I wouldn't like the idea of using a tenth of my salary for gasoline. That would be stupid.
And my baby can fly on the highway, believe me.

If you don't understand why - look at the gasoline prices in Europe xp I wouldn't like the idea of using a tenth of my salary for gasoline. That would be stupid. And my baby can fly on the highway, believe me. I'm not really American... :/ Hell, I live here, yes, but I'm actually Greek. Believe me, the gas prices there SUCK something fierce. Add that to the problems in the government, the economy, the housing situation, etc (i.e. we have a series of forest fires every summer set by anarchists and arsonists, and what seems to be some kind of riot every other week) and I think it's safe to say ******** living in the homeland. Yeah, I get it- a lot of the world's 'best' cars aren't American. The Skoda Octavia- beautiful, safe, efficient. Seat Leon- ugly (in my opinion) but again, efficient, safe, reliable. Opel Astra- I despise them, but again, reliable (unless my b***h stepmom drives it and crashes the thing 5 minutes after starting it up, causing us to have to do a ghetto-rigged bondo job on both right doors.) I'm not saying American cars are "OH MAI GAWD, LOOK AT DEMZ CAWRZ, DEYZ OWRSUMM!!!!!1!!!!1!!!!!one!!!!! LOLOLOLOL" but I do know that for pure awesomeness, the feeling of a car worthy of the big-block engine in it's chassis, just.... (Cue the dramatic, overly patriotic music, like in the movie Patton) It's a hard feeling to describe, but for anybody who has ever rebuilt a 1970's Chevrolet Nova from almost scratch, putting several hundred or thousand dollars of work into the engine alone (not including the body, transmission, air-filter system, paint, wiring, etc) and felt a sense of pride at hearing that massive engine roar to life with the sound of hell made physical, obliterating all animal life within a mile radius.... Again, a hard feeling to describe. But... I dunno, I'm just not one of those people who likes the quiet, safe cars- that's good for families and people who have busy lives, but I'm a college student- I have a car that looks like a mexican gang-banger car but runs like something out of a Spike TV advertisement. I love my hideous, unsafe, beastly pile of American garbage. :3 *End stereotypical overly patriotic music* razz

Pfft, you men and your cars. talk2hand
I've not had the need to get a license or a car, because (even if it's late) our public transport works and is a faster way of transport than a car. From where I live to Helsinki it takes 17 min by train + 10 min walk from my apartment to the station. By car it takes 45 min, because of the morning commuter traffic. razz

I don't like in a city or populated area.
The closest train station is 18 miles away, closest bus station is 6 miles, and taxies are way over priced.
I have no use for public transportation, but a need for personal vehicles.
Yet, I have none. emo

Well, my car isn't exactly a family car xd It's a small coupe. It's light so that the 110KM engine is totally enough for it. 3nodding
