The morning started out in a fairly normal fashion; Alex had gotten on the bus early that morning, where he was inexplicably drawn to Raize, as he always way. The little boy had made a regular habit of sitting next to the taller child on the bus and in class - this was not only because it greatly decreased his physical discomfort, but also because Alex found that he actually LIKED Raize, despite their vastly opposing personalities. He did, of course, play with the other children, but he much preferred to spend time with Raize. It was rather strange, as one would have thought that the two of them would have hated each other.
That aside, the morning had progressed normally until he'd entered the classroom. This was because the teacher had greeted her students with an announcement. "We have a special day coming up, class! In about two weeks, we'll be having a carnival at school - we'll be sending a note home to your parents, so they know what's going on." Alex's ears pricked up as he took his seat, immediately interested in the news. A carnival? Really? That sounded like a lot of fun!
"I've nev'r been t' a carnival b'fore!" The little boy beamed, trying to picture what the carnival would be like - it was hard, since he'd never been to one himself. He couldn't know what it would be like to go to something that he'd never been to before. But you have been to one, something inside him said, the voice almost seeming to scold him. As it did, a painful headache set in, one that reminded him of the one he'd gotten on the first day of school. At the same time, his eyes were drawn over to where Raize sat, though Alex couldn't figure out why. There was something about the taller boy being a part of what the voice was telling him.
"Alex? Are you okay?" Alex heard Tom's voice from over next to him, but found that he didn't have time to respond as he began feeling lightheaded, the edges of his vision starting to grow dark as the image of Raize began to grow fuzzy. Then, everything went dark, just before a familiar warmth enveloped him, and he found himself in a very different place...

Raize very happily allowed Alex into his fortress in the back seat, chatting with him all the way to school about a number of things. Transformers, writing their names...anything, and everything. His entire mood seemed to do a 360 when Alex was close by - and it probably had a lot to do with the fact that he no longer had a pounding headache from hell.
He followed Alex like a puppy. A toothy, bitchy, angry puppy, who glared at everyone else who got to go near him. He wasn't sure why, but it seemed stupid that they all wanted to hang out with him.. He was so focused on this that he wasn't paying much attention; but he couldn't not pay attention when something began to feel very, very wrong. His headache came back, worse than ever. And, he knew somehow, something was wrong with Alex. He whirled around, and cried out as he saw Alex begin to fall, scrambling over to catch him and shoving Tom out of the way in the process. As he touched Alex, however, the world went dark, and he felt himself falling as well...

He was standing in the middle of a fair.
Alex was confused as he looked about at his surroundings, finding himself in a stall-line area, where people were bustling about as if everything were normal. They weren't just any people though - they were implings. All of them, just like him and Raize. He'd never seen a place like this before - and yet, it was all so familiar at the same time. Why was that? How did he know this place? Upon taking another look about, Alex caught a reflection of himself in a nearby puddle - but it wasn't him who stared back at him. At least, not his usual self - it was him, but he was older. Much, much older. His mind was reeling with the thoughts that were being tossed around in his head when he suddenly felt himself starting to move - he was walking. It was as though he had no control of his feet, for they brought him to a particular stall with a strange game. An archery game, he thought, though he didn't understand how it was that he knew the answer. Behind the stall stood an impling man, and behind him was a wall covered in prizes - toys of all shapes and sizes.
"You wanna try your luck, boys?" the stall owner asked, a grin on his face. Boys? Who else was he talking to? He wanted to turn and look, but found that his head wasn't listening to his commands either, and he couldn't look away from the vendor. "It's two copper pieces for a round."
Alex felt himself grin as he reached into his pocket to dig out the money needed. "I think I could give it a shot, yeah." he heard himself say as he handed to coins over to the man behind the stall before he picked up the bow. Who was he kidding? He couldn't do this! He didn't even know how to hold a bow properly! And yet he did, for he raised the bow and took aim at a nearby target, pausing for a moment to judge the shot. Then he let go, and the arrow sailed through the air - hitting the middle of the target directly. The man behind the stall whistled, impressed as Alex reached to grab the next arrow.
"Impressive - bet you can't do it twice tho-" The man's comment was cut off as Alex let the second arrow fly, his jaw dropping in shock as Alex split the first arrow down the middle with his second shot. The boy heard himself laugh as he turned back to the vendor to return the bow, and felt himself beaming at the older impling.
"That was fun. I get a prize now, right?" The man nodded numbly as Alex gleefully picked out one of the toys from the wall - all of them were plush toys, so he chose a teddy bear out of the bunch. Then, he finally turned to look at the person who was standing behind him, and Alex's mind exploded with confusion. He knew this person, and yet he didn't! It was Raize, though the person who stood before him wasn't a little boy - he was a grown-up! How could Raize be a grown-up?! None of this made any sense...
"Alright, your turn!" he heard himself say as he tucked his prize under his arm. "Where do you wanna go next?" This was all so strange...

Something smelled good. That was the first thing Raize noticed when he opened his eyes. The second was that he was...taller? Certainly, he was higher up than usual. Blinking, he tried to look around - but he found that he couldn't. Instead, he was looking down at a boy in front of him - someone who, from behind, was vaguely familiar... It wasn't until they spoke, and turned, that he figured out who they were.
Alex? No. It wasn't Alex. Not the Alex from school. This was an older Alex. Maybe his cousin? But Raize didn't know any of Alex's relatives. Oh, it was getting stranger by the second.
He watched as Alex picked up a bow, and fired two arrows into the bulls eye of a target. He heard himself chuckle, in a deep voice that was not his own, and leaned back against the stall post as Alex - for it had to be Alex - chose a stuffed bear as a prize. Then, Alex turned to him - and he really got a good look at him. The body he was in felt strangely warm as he looked down at Alex, and he grinned a bit, about to respond - then the delicious smell came wafting by, and he turned through the impling crowd to finally see what it was and where it was coming from. The fact that everyone was fuzzy mattered very little to Raize as he walked straight through the throng of people, following his nose to a long table, at which sat a few rather large impling men, and one or two women.
"Step right up and test your stomach! Think you can handle the Iron Gut challenge?! Fifty crowns to the winner-" His ears perked up. Food, and gold? Hell, he was in. He needed the money - but wait. Why did he need the money? He slapped Alex on the shoulder as he stepped forward, no answer coming to his question.
"Wait here." He said, in that strange gruff voice, and stalked up to the table. The large man he sat beside laughed, though Raize didn't know why. He was busy staring at his reflection in the silver platter in front of him. He was...he was huge! Not as huge as the guy he was sitting beside, sure, but he was bigger than a kid! Large hands, covered in callouses, reached for the sides of the platter's lid - why were his hands so big? Muscled shoulders, wider than Raize had ever seen anyone's shoulders, and thick arms - what was going on?
He didn't get an answer, again, as a bell rang and he lifted the cover on the platter. Food, heaps upon heaps of food, lay beneath it. Meat, and noodles, all mixed together, it smelled amazing and made his stomach growl like an animal. In a flash he'd grabbed the utensil and began to shovel it down. But he wasn't full when the bowl was emptied! Thankfully, a pretty lady set another bowl down, and he continued to inhale. Mmm. Food. He didn't have any at his house. Wait, thought Raize. Yes he did. Raev was a jerk, but at least he bought food. His other self (he decided to call it that) didn't respond, or listen, and continued to eat. And eat. And eat. He didn't stop eating until a bell rang - and even then, his other self wanted to KEEP eating. A man came over and congratulated him, shaking his hand and babbling about something. His other self merely grunted, smirked a bit, and asked for his prize money. And, he added, the rest of the bowl to go. Astounded, the man handed over a small bag of coins, and Raize counted them as the pretty lady put a lid on the bowl for him.
"Good doin' business with ya." He told the man, and returned to Alex, jingling the bag of coins.
"Want a candy apple?" He asked, looking down at the other boy. "I figger I can afford it now."

Rather than getting an answer to his question, Alex found himself following after the older Raize as he suddenly headed off through the crowd. Soon, the two of them were standing in front of a long table. Wafting from it was the smell of food, and lots of it - and sitting at the table were some of the largest people that Alex had ever seen!
So confused was Alex by the scene that he didn't notice what Raize was doing until the taller - and, now that he got a good look, much more muscled - impling gave him a smack on the shoulder. His older self didn't seem bothered by the action, but in his head, Alex had yelped a bit. it was so strange, hearing Raize speak with that gruff voice, and see him in that much bigger body - and yet, the person he was right now liked it. In fact, he couldn't seem to take his eyes off of the taller impling's form as he watched Raize go, hugging the teddy bear to his chest.
It was an eating contest, he realized - he wasn't really sure of how he knew it for certain, but he did. And it appeared as though Raize was going to enter... As the 'competition' started, Alex found himself watching the entire thing - he found himself silently cheering Raize on while worrying about him slightly at the same time - would he be okay? What if he got sick? Those other implings were so much bigger than he was! And yet, much to the amazement of both Alex and his...older self, Raize ended up winning. For some reason, this news excited Alex. He grinned as Raize jingled the bag of coins in front of him and nodded, finding that he had no objection to this idea. "You think I'm gonna say no?" His voice wasn't as deep as Raize's, but it was still quite a bit more mature sounding than his usual on did. It was so...STRANGE to hear himself like this. "Geez, you ate more than...well, I don't really know what to compare it to, but you ate a lot!" Seriously, he wondered, how did he manage to pack it all in there?

"Kind of like a bear, no?" Raize teased, hinting at a secret between the two of them. But wait. What secret? Again, an unanswered question. Had he known a swear, he would have sworn. But he didn't. Instead, he chuckled a bit, and shook his head, rubbing his stomach. "It was good. I couldn't help it." He bumped Alex's shoulder with his fist, then gestured at a booth. Bright, candy coated apples hung on sticks all along the racks, and he nodded at it. "Let's get going then. They might be gone before you get your a** over there." He was teasing Alex. But, wait. a**. That was a bad word, wasn't it? ...He liked that. Being able to swear. He tried to say it again, but couldn't work his mouth. It was like a movie, except he was trapped watching it in his own head. Which was less than cool. He didn't like being able to control what was going on...

Alex grinned, seeming to understand the joke that his friend was telling - and yet he couldn't fathom what the secret could possibly be. He turned the thought over and over in his head, and yet no conclusion came to mind. The boy didn't like this at all - it was so confusing!
"I'm sure that it was." Alex chuckled a little, then nodded as Raize gestured towards the stand. The young man shook his head a little, and a feeling of amusement rose in him. "You're so impatient!" There was no anger or irritation behind the comment - just the usual playfulness that Alex always seemed to carry. In his mind, part of him was baffled by the fact that Raize had used a bad word - another part of him saw this as normal though. Why? Raize NEVER said bad words at school, so why would it be normal now???
He didn't get an answer as he and Raize made their ways over to the booth where the sweets were being sold. As his friend bought the candy apples, Alex's eyes fell upon another bag of assorted candies and, after a moment of deliberation, he decided that he'd buy the treats for Raize - he had enough money in his pocket, after all. Wait. He had money? That didn't make sense! Infer always kept the money! Why would he have it? He was too little to have any! ...though, he supposed that he wasn't at the moment. Either way, Alex managed to buy the little bag of treats while Raize wasn't paying attention and slipped them into his pocket before he began munching on the candy apple that he'd been given as he followed the brown impling away from the booth. Once they were a ways away, he took the bag out and held it out to Raize. "Gotcha somethin'." Well, at least THIS made sense - Raize liked candy, right?

Raize looked over at Alex, for once doing something his younger self wanted him to do. "What is it?" He asked, sniffing at it slightly. Clearly it was food of some sort, but the brown furred impling wanted to know what KIND of food it was. He couldn't tell from the bag, though, nor it's scent, because said bag blocked the scent. It was kind of frustrating, actually, but he refrained from frowning at Alex. Frowning would get him nowhere. So, he smiled at the other boy amiably, though his main focus was the supposed food in the scent defying bag.

Alex found himself grinning, sensing Raize's frustration, despite the fact that the older impling was trying to hide it. It was so fun to tease him sometimes! ...wait, when did he ever tease Raize? He couldn't remember the last time he'd done that - teasing was mean! ...wasn't it? "Well, I'm not entirely sure." he said with a chuckle before holding the bag out to Raize. "I thought it was candy, but it MIGHT be poison." He was joking, of course - he knew very well that it was candy. The black-haired impling would never do anything to intentionally hurt Raize.

Raize didn't react at first, instead plucking the bag out of Alex's hands and sniffing it. He couldn't smell what was inside of it, and so he turned and looked at Alex, offering a cheery smile - which really should have been the first clue that something was amiss - and shoved him into a snowbank. "You are a loser." He said, turning away and not paying attention to him, fiddling with the leather tie on the bag. "Why...won't...open!" He seemed very upset by it.

Indeed, Alex did catch on to the fact that something was amiss when Raize smiled at him - however, he wasn't given much time to react as the older impling shoved him into a snowbank. The black-haired boy's hand lashed out as Raize turned away though, grabbing hold of the back of his shirt to pull him down into the snow with him.
"HA!" The young man laughed, shooting a grin to the brown impling. "Who's the loser now then?" Again, he was teasing Raize, it seemed.

Raize yelped as Alex yanked him down, landing on top of him, and managing to keep hold of his candy all at the same time. He rolled his eyes and snapped his teeth at Alex's face, though he wouldn't actually bite him.
"You're on the bottom, so, still you." Raize said teasingly, pulling himself out of the snow and shaking himself off - he did so despise snow, and the cold. He shivered, and huffed, turning his attention back to the bag of candy.

Alex smiled sweetly as Raize snapped his teeth - a part of him felt that he should have been intimidated by the action, but strangely enough, he wasn't. Instead, he merely stood up and brushed the snow off himself. He wasn't particularly fond of the snow or cold either, but he could handle it for the time being - he was having fun, after all.
"...you know, you can just burn the leather tie, right?" There was an amused expression on Alex's face as he made the suggestion. He'd never seen someone have such difficulty with getting a bag of CANDY open.
