Jabari was doing his rounds, moving through the pride in that slinking manner that he had perfected, just arrogant enough to show that he was a ligi now, yet slow enough to conserve energy and catch people off guard when he decided to move faster.

He saw a few people cringe and move out of his way, and he inwardly sighed. That was exactly what he was looking for, but it was also irritating as hell. This pride was completely cowled by him and he had only been a ligi for a few weeks. Everyone completely forgot that he was Indira's middle son. But she was the one who had given him and his brothers away.

That still chafed, even though of all the brothers, he understood it best.

Jabari pulled to a stop as he caught sight of the slumbering female, intentionally blocking the sun from her. She was... he searched his mind, trying to put a name with her face. She looked familiar, but he had never met her officially. Either way, sleeping out in the open like this was dangerous. Especially considering some of the ligi.

"Tell me," he started out, "do you often laze around like this, or is it a privilege reserved for only my eyes?" His voice was a slightly raspy tenor, one that he had always wished would be deeper. It always hinted at sarcasm. Then again, he thought with inward amusement, he usually was thinking sarcastically.

"Of course," he said blandly. "I sleep so very well surrounded by my fellow ligi." Oh yes, certainly he did. He'd gotten quite adept at sleeping with one eye open and his back casually placed against a wall near the exit. That way no one could attack him from behind and he had a chance at escape all at the same time. "Grand fellows, don't you agree?"

She was older than he had thought at first, but still quite attractive in a bitter manner. He wasn't quite the ladies man his brother Tasso was, but he had always had a thing for older women.

"As a Ligi it's my duty to make sure people are doing what they should be doing," Jabari said. "Or at least doing what they shouldn't be doing where they can't be seen. I take my duties as seriously as I take my Shatkona."

He moved closer, sitting nearby. He was playing, and it was a dangerous thing, but he couldn't seem to stop teasing her. She so blatantly disliked him. "But you have me at a disadvantage, you know my rank, but I don't know yours. Huntress, right?"

"Jabari," he said. "Of the Tama house, although I know my coloring says otherwise." He didn't sound bothered by that fact, although it did stick in his craw somewhat. "Second son of Indira. I should let you go back to your nap, though," he added. "We want our head huntress in top form."

"She is well," he said with a slight smile. "As beautiful as ever, of course." He really did love his mother. Even if he understood her better than his brothers did. Perhaps even because he understood her so well. His tail twitched slightly. "Do you know my mother well?"

They were both females in high positions, he assumed they must have met at least a few times, regardless of being from different houses.

"I'll give her your regards, head huntress," he said with a slight bow of his head. He seemed to be showing her more respect now that he knew her rank. But that was because he could get away with it. Respect was something his mother had taught him well, but as a Ligi, he couldn't show it often. It might blow his cover. "And for you? Are you doing well? So that I can pass it on when I tell her that you inquired about her."

"I will be sure to pass it on, Head Huntess Ibis," he said with a polite bow of his head. "But I should be going now. I bid you good hunting."
