"But- but why, Mama?" Chailai asked pitifully, eyes brimming with tears and voice, for once, having risen above it's usual stage whisper.
"Because, le chaton, people eat zhe fruits from zhe plants. Zhe taste good and give us nutrients; it is zhe circle of life. Jou do not eat because jou are part angel; jou are on a different level zhan zhe rest of life on zhis Earth," the feminine serpent tried to explain once again, holding tightly to his daughter's hand as they made their way to the greenhouse through the rather cold yard, where they would be picking strawberries for a food co-op that Trois was forced into joining. Such was the sacrifice of yet another child.
"Zhe poor plants..." the young girl whimpered, righting the crown on her head as her tail dragged limply on the ground behind her, ears flopped sadly atop her head. She just... she couldn't understand!! It was like taking an animal's babies and killing them! For food!!

Today the wrath spawn took a brake from studding people and decided to take a look at strawberries growing in a green house. She was enjoying her study of the plants when she saw sniffling child with her gurdian. She at first didn't pay her much mind and listened to her guide talk. She might of lost a few details of the woman's speech but she got most of it down. It was only when they had a brake did Tempy walk over to the group.
"Why is your child upset" asked the Temperince in a general caring voice. She had her note book ready in case she learned some new information from this conversation. She already knew most toddlers cry when taken to some place new " Has your child been here before?" she asked.
Tempie's gurdian Basie also watched Tempy , he was shocked out how kind she was being right now. He felt a small tingle through out his body.

Trois gently squeezed his daughter's hand as they slipped into the greenhouse. The poor girl really did seem upset about picking the berries from the plants. He just wished that he knew a way to convince the girl that it was an alright thing to do. For that matter, it helped the plants to grow and stay healthy if the fruits were picked before they had a chance to shrivel up and fall off, sometimes taking the rest of the branch with them.
"Hm?" Trois asked in surprised, glancing down when he was approached by the colourful little girl. He bent down a bit, hugging Chailai close to him, and smiled softly as he pet her hair. "She 'as not been 'ere before, no. She is upset because she believes zhat picking fruits from plants 'urts zhem, and no matter what I try to tell her, she does not believe that it does not 'urt zhem."
Chailai cuddled softly against her mother, green eyes still watery and sad. The tuft at the end of her tail was damp and dirty from being dragged across the ground, and her ears were still tipped back against her head. The appearance of the other girl only made her bury her face against her mother's chest, shy as she always was.

The half wrath girl nodded her head taking in what he had to say "I could see how it would be hard for a child to understand the concept that plants create fruit to bare seeds so other plants can be created. It would make sense that she thinks the fruit have feelings ,especially since there are many beings that look or are actual living fruit" she nodded her head.
Temperance looked around "Maybe if you have her touch the plants and smell them , she could understand that they are for consumption" she nodded. She then thought about smelling the fruit herself , so thats what she did "Wow these barriers have a strong aroma , good chance they are scientifically altered , that would explain the green house" she nodded. Then she wondered how many green houses grow natural product , she kept this thought to herself.

Trois chuckled softly at the sharp logic of the young girl, smiling faintly. Carefully, he lifted his daughter up from the ground, cradling her small self in his arms, where she buried her face away from the other strange female. "I do wish it was zhat easy. Unfortunately, with 'er lack of needing to consume, she does not compre'end zhe fact zhat many of zhe rest of us need to do so to survive. Nor does she compre'end zhat food cannot just come from a bag without 'aving come from somewhere else first."
As Trois pet the little one's hair, she buried her face further against his chest, sniffling softly over the poor fruit. It just wasn't fair! Like taking a person's children to the slaughter house, taking them to be eaten. Despite that fact, she certainly did believe that the smell was wonderful. Yet, if the smell could be produced simply by the fruit existing, why couldn't it just exist the way that it was?

The young girl softly smiled "That would make sense" she was no longer looking at the family but at a clump of strawberry flowers. Her group was gathering together and she quickly got back in line. She didn't want to miss a single thing the tour guide had to say. As head counts were being taken she looked back at Trois and the toddler and she waved a confusing wave.
This isn't something Tempy is use to doing so the movement looked odd. She wanted to slink back into the group , but nothing really was happening. She huffed "Do you need any assistance with your child" she asked. She didn't really sound atheistic, it was more like she had no clue how to be courteous.

When the other young girl slunk back into the crowd of people, Trois was quick to assume that she was no longer interested in their company, especially considering the fact that she was with the tour group, while the mother-daughter pair was not. Surely, it wouldn't do Chailai any good to hear what happened to the strawberries after they were picked, or anything of the like. Then again, it could be helpful, and the naga figured that they would talk about many other things... but it wasn't worth risking one of his daughter's little fits.
"See, look at zhis, my love," Trois said softly to the shy little girl in his arms, pointing toward one of the plants, where a berry had fallen off of it. "Zhe plants are not 'urt by zhis. When zhe fruit is ripe, it falls off. Zhe fruit 'as seeds to grow more of zhe fruits, and animals eating zhem 'elp spread zhe seeds around. Do jou understand, chaton?"
Chailai peeked out from her mother's chest only for a moment, a gentle frown still on her face. Slowly, she nodded, but was still not very enthusiastic about it, wiping the tears from her cheeks and sleepily nuzzling herself against Trois' chest. The snake chuckled softly and pet her hair, hazel eyes flicking toward the young female when she returned. Smiling politely, he shook his head. "No, t'is alright. I believe zhat we are going to be returning home soon, so go ahead with jour tour."

The wrath girl smiled " You have a nice day , I hope your child is able to accept the terms of life" she tried to be kind. Thats the best she could come up with. She walked back into group. It took about fifteen more minutes for the tour to get back on track. Tempy started to read some literature on the strawberries farmed here. She found the information educational.
Once the tour started , she took a lot more notes. She made sure to stay in the front near the guide so she wouldn't miss a thing. She really enjoyed her time learning about strawberries.
