( 'Zu is pregnant and, as you know, Lirona just had her baby Copeka! What better a time for a baby shower? Every one of their friends and family members are welcome!! )

Adhara was just putting the finishing touches on, well, the entire house, really.

A banner reading 'It's a boy!!' stretched across one wall of the living room while 'It's a baby!!' stretched across the other. The entire front room had been rearranged, so there were plenty of things for kids to play with, a table covered in snacks -some of which were still being made by one of the people who was supposed to be the co-star of the party- and a table that was there for presents and the like from the guests who were surely going to be arriving.

The woman was busy tying the ribbons on the last few gift bags that were going to be given to the guests at the party, which were buried beneath the present table to be taken out once everyone was ready to get going. There were paper arrows around the whole apartment complex telling people where the specific apartment was and, finally, it was time to get everyone ready. Lira was already up and, at Adhara's comment, went to rouse her new son from his pre-party nap, excitement buzzing in the air around them.

It had been a long, unhappy while since Vincent had been able to see his best friend, not to mention favorite cousin, 'Zuba. So long in fact that the greed spawn had jumped at the oppertunity to purchase said friend a gift; as well as one for Lirona, who was also a friend. Still, his chief focus was 'Zuba.

He had missed her. And though the bag in his right hand was heavy (in his point of view, since he'd bought it), and the bag in his left was even heavier, the greed spawn was beaming. He had gotten something for both the mothers; and their babies, as well. He had been advised by his mother to get each parent something nice, something to make them feel important and beautiful. And so he had gotten Lira a non-flame lilac scented candle (he didn't know her very well, really--) and 'Zuba's--well, 'Zuba's was a bit more personal.

Meaning the greed and humility spawn was worried whether his friend would like it. He knew she was fond of art--and so, he had gotten her a book full of replicas; to remind her of one of the first things they'd done together. He, in fact, had gone the extra mile. He had gotten Adhara a gift; another non-flame scented candle. A peach He had been instructed by his mother, ever so tactfully, that it was a gift you bought for a babyshower when you didn't know the mother well. As for the babies... Well, he had heard that Aludra's and Lira's baby had been male. Naturally, he had gone to his father for advice.

Ben had been little help. He attempted to convince his son to purchase things to do with sports. Naturally, Vincent didn't think this was appropiate. The baby had just been born! Instead, the boy had invested in a teddy bear. A light blue one with a white embroidered sweeter. It rattled when shaken. 'Zuba's baby had been more...difficult. He wasn't certain what the gender would be.

Yellow and green, he had been told, were gender neutral colors. So; he had gone with a chick plush with a blue and green bow around its neck. (Thankfully it was sewed on, so it wouldn't be harmful to the baby.) Upon arrival, he placed one of the bags down carefully, and knocked.

Lirona had just roused her still-snoozy baby when there was a knocking at the door. Smiling, she said that she would get it and moved towards the entrance, much quicker than she had gotten used to. For how little he was, Copeka had sure weighed a lot inside her stomach. With extensive caution, she shifted Copeka to one arm, Jake supporting his head protectively, and opened the door.

"Vincent! Hello there!" To her credit, Lira wore a bright smile as she greeted the other Greed/Humility spawn and allowed him inside. Her childish disliking of him seemed so far away, she barely even registered them. Besides, this was no time to get snippy about things that didn't matter anymore; this was a day of celebration. "It's so nice to see you! Ooh, and you brought presents I see! They go, um, here, I think. At least until we get some more," she said with a self-conscious smile, indicating the coffee table in the living room. "Thank you so much."

"So, here I am, obviously. Adhara is... oh right over there, tying ribbons"
she said with a giggle, glancing over to her friend. "'Zuba's a little shy, as you well know, so she's cooking in the kitchen. I think she's going to try to stay there the whole party, but Adhara's trying to get her to socialize." Lirona laughed behind her hand. The two women were so adorable together.

"And this," she said with a proud finality, "is my baby boy, Copeka." Her smile was glowing with maternal warmth as she showed her darling child to Vincent. "He's my little pride and joy. Just be a little careful around him; he's a fragile little sweetheart." Lirona cuddled her baby back to her bosom, then gestured for Vincent to make himself at home. "Well, you're the first guest, so feel free to just hang out for a while. The other guests should be here soon."

Chailai didn't know any of these people, so she really didn't know what she was doing here. The little greed child peeked out from behind Vincent's leg, one of her hands clinging tightly to one of Fitzroy's thick fingers, ears pressed back against her hair. Green eyes flicked around the room before going back to the floor, tail flicking a bit when a woman seemed to come out of nowhere with a little bundle in her arms. Gasping softly, she jumped back, tugging softly at one of the gluttony spawn's pantlegs.

"Fitz!! Zhere is a baby 'ere!!" she squeaked in a whisper, looking up at him with wide eyes.

"Yeah, there is. That's what the whole party is for, Chai," Fitzroy chuckled in response, giving the girl an affectionate ruffle. Technically she shouldn't be here, but he was invited to this baby shower and he couldn't just not come; he owed it to Miss Adhara and Miss Zuba and Lirona. They were practically his second family. Plus, hey, party! And it's not like it wouldn't be age-appropriate; it was a baby shower, for Pete's sake!

So the teen felt no guilt when he quickly picked Chai up and entered in behind the golden-colored young man, grinning into the happy room. "Hello there, By'arres! Glad I could make it to the party! Uh, you lovely ladies don't mind if I brought a plus one, do you?" He smiled again and cuddled Chailai gently, placing a supportive hand on her back. He knew how shy she could be.

Shy as she was, Chailai's eyes only widened as she was brought into the room. She took a moment to look around, before burying her face against Fitzroy's chest, tail wrapping around to where she could hug onto it. Her ears tipped back against her head as well, blocking out a bit of the sound as she tried to pretend she wasn't in such a strange place - and with so many new people!!

There were a lot of people, a lot of voices, he thought to himself as he got close to the destination that was written out on the invitation. His wings gave a flutter and he stood there at the door, starring at it, and found himself wondering if perhaps it would be best if he just dropped off the gifts and went on his way. He wasn't sure how many people knew about him, who he was and who he was related to, but he always worried that people would find out and not want to be around him. He shifted in place seeming to be for a moment uncertain before he shifted the bags he was carrying so that he could knock.

Luthor had gone to the baby store not long after getting the invitation to get presents for the coming babies, that of Lira and of the spawn called Azubahiel, and he'd... spent far to much time circling the place, trying to decide what it was that he should get for them. He wasn't sure... it seemed as though babies needed a lot of things, as such he'd ended up getting far to much. He could only hope that he hadn't gotten to much. There were blankets for each child with a cute pattern on them, a pair of stuffed animals each one rabbit and one unicorn which he couldn't resist since it had a horn similar to his own, a rattle, diapers, wipes, and various other things that he'd thought would be useful. Each child had a theme as well, for Lira's child it was yellow and for Azubahiel's child it was green.

For the parents he'd gotten them each a digital camera as it seemed that taking pictures of their babies was something quite important as well since the place sold baby books at the baby goods store that a parent used to chronicle the lives of their little ones. The only thing he didn't buy was clothing, mostly because being spawn one could never guess what they would look like, what sort of extra limbs they might have, or what sort of clothing they might need. It was likely his own desire to be a parent one day that caused him to spend so much on them that and the fact that he'd enjoyed himself while shopping.

Luthor shifted the bags in his hands and waited quietly at the door, wings fluttering on occasion, as he waited to be let in.

It had been a long time since Llujah had met with or even heard about the By'arre family, so it came as a real surprise when he heard that babies had happened and he was invited to see them. Of course, he was delighted to attend, and he took the time to get the new parents a little present in honor of the special occasion. It struck the Greed spawn as slightly odd that he would be welcomed to a baby shower for a family he hardly knew, but he did know Adelle and had met Aludra, so, in a way, he did have connections.

With help from Belinda, Llujah had picked out what he hoped to be a suitable present for the lucky new parents: some bath salts and lotions for the mother and a little blue baby-sized blanket with a design of an elephant on it. These gifts in hand, Llujah followed behind the next guest and waited, a grin on his face. As he gazed above him to see who the white-haired man in front of him was, he was surprised to find a familiar face. A broad grin appeared on his face.

"Hey! You're that pretty guy I met in the park! You're here for the shower, too?"

'Zuba was, as Lira had mentioned, hiding out in the kitchen, busying herself with preparing snacks for their guests. Or, at least, that was her excuse. There were already snacks galore fixed up; a smorgasbord of different little vittles covered the counter top. The spawn looked at all the food, then sighed; there wasn't much left to make, was there? And it was only a matter of time before someone came in to coax her out. She took a deep breath, preparing herself before stepping out of the kitchen.

Her grey eyes lit up as they fell on a certain spawn; a friend she hadn't seen in what seemed to be ages. "Vincent!" she greeted, hugging the boy. "You made it! I'm so glad to see you! It's been forever and a day since I've seen you." She probably would have continued in this fashion, but the knocks at the door distracted her. "Excuse me a second." she said, smiling sheepishly before going to the door, opening it for the guests.

"Hello..." she greeted quietly, smiling shyly at the unfamiliar faces. "Please, come in. Make yourselves at home." She moved back, ushering the two inside and subtly hiding behind the door.

Cody... Didn't exactly know what to get the parents and kids. It had been so long that he had even thought about such things in general that as he stood in front of the baby shop, the poor spawn nearly had a panic attack. He knew Lirona and Aludra well enough, as well as Zuba at one point in his life but the fourth, Adhara, he couldn't remember ever meeting. Thus picking out gifts turned out to be one of the most difficult things he had to do. Thankfully he managed to get a little help from the employees and wasn't too terribly late getting to the party gifts in hand.

In one bag were stuffed puppy and kitten plushies that had to be the softest things he'd ever touched and were meant for the babies. In the other were some candles and two small whirligigs of beautiful-colored glass. It pained him to let such beautiful objects go, but it was only right... right? He didn't need them and he could certainly get more later since the store wasn't liable to run out in the next week...

Sighing softly, Cody walked up the steps to the house hesitantly. He hadn't seen ANY of them in ages, barely remembering what they even looked like somewhat. But of course, who was he to think he was the only one invited? Ringing the doorbell, the spawn just hoped things would be TOO awkward. After all, society had abandoned him for almost a year...

Elisabetta hadn't been one hundred percent sure she should come or not, considering that she hadn't spoken with any of the By'arre's in so long. She missed them alot, though, and when she received that invitation, her decision had already been made.

Again, she was wearing her favorite outfit, but whether out of respectability or the weather, the teen wore a plain blue zip up hoodie to cover the girls. That in and of itself was a gift, but, in any case, she carried two boxes. Lissy didn't know the first thing about child care and when she'd spotted the baby monitors in the store, she ran with it. After all, you couldn't buy clothing for a someone elses kid, could you?

Elisabetta bounced up to the house with a bright, eager smile, barely aware of Cody until she was painfully close to him and forced to step back. "Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I'm such a ditz." She laughed. Even though she was happily engaged, Lissy couldn't help giving this stranger a one-over, and wondering which couple he was coming to see.

Luthor turned to look over toward Llujah and he gave the boy a smile, "Hello again." He greeted the boy, wings giving a little flutter as he found someone that he recognized here, it caused him to calm down a bit to know that there was at least one other person here that he knew, "Perhaps, I am at least here to drop off some gifts that I got for the mothers." He explained, still uncertain about how long he would be staying.

As the door opened up to reveal Zuba he felt is nerves rising again for a moment until she merely invited them inside. He gave a smile and nodded to her, "Hello." He said, taking in the rather shy woman who was hiding behind the door. It was kind of hard to pinpoint what sort of spawn she was... Humility, yes, but what else? She seemed almost to be lacking in another half. How interesting... He pushed his curious thoughts aside while stepping inside and looked around to try to figure out where he could set the bags down.

Spotting where the other presents were being kept he headed in that direction, setting the two bags down before he turned to take note of everyone who was here... and realized that there were very, very few that he knew. He found himself looking around, trying to find Lira in the crowd. She was the reason that he had come, the party being secondary, as he wanted to check up on her. It wasn't to often that he got to see people that he made deals with after they were over. It would be nice to see this particular one.

Llu pouted his lower lip slightly at the pretty man. "Just to drop something off? You should stay for the whole thing! It'd be a lot more fun, I think!" Ahead of them, the front door opened and interrupted the Greed spawn's train of thought. He happily marched in, smiling at the woman who opened the door for them. "Thank you very much!" Well... At least he remembered his manners.

After placing his gifts on the table in front with some of the others, Llu looked about the house, gazing at the different faces he saw within it. A good few he did not recall, but one face did stand out from the rest of the crowd: one with green bat ears and long, brown hair. Llu's eyes lit up as he made his way over to his old friend and beamed at him.

"Hey, Fitzroy! I haven't seen you for a long time!" Llu's wings fluttered excitedly, and he gave Fitzroy a quick once-over before looking back up to him. "You've grown, haven't you? That's pretty cool!"

"Hey Lira," Vincent said, smiling with no sign of malice. Why should he have felt anything but happiness for her? "You look beautiful." He placed the presents down where she indicated. "Of course," he said. He shook his head at the mention of 'Zuba, grinning. Zu might have been shy--around other people--but never Vincent.

"She won't stay in the kitchen if I can help it," he said with a shrug. "Oh, is this Copeka?" he beamed at the tiny infant. "He's precious, Lira! Congratulations, again."

"'Zuba!" was Vincent's response, hugging his best friend with equal vigor--but gently. She too, was expecting a baby. "I've missed you! Where've you been? I was really surprised to receive an invitation." He watched her go answer the door, and decided he would wait to visit with her further. He wanted to tell her about Lissy, and being engaged, and how their wedding would be in the Spring--and everything else that had recently happened.

The influx of people honestly amused the young woman, and she continued fluttering around the room, fixing up various fixtures and making sure that all of the decorations were in the right places. By the time she was finished, their small apartment was surprisingly filled with spawn of all shapes and sizes. Even her sweet, shy little butterfly of a lover flitted out of her place in the kitchen, coming to mingle with the rest of the crowd. Adhara slipped behind the woman as she talked her friend, pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek and, since she'd heard another knock at the door, she was going to go welcome the rest of the people in.

The lust spawn tried to distract her tentacles from the many new people around the both of them by letting them curl around her arms, but they weren't very interested. After all, Adhara's arms had been around all of her life. On the contrary, some of these people were practically brand new. Smiling, she wiggled her fingers in a greeting toward Luthor -the little wish-granting one that she'd seen at the park- before she opened the door, smiling at the surprisingly tall greed boy who stood in the doorway.

"Welcome, welcome. Gifts go on the table where... the rest of the gifts are, feel free to mix and mingle at your leisure, I think Lira's got the newborn sweetie up and about and-- Lissy!! Oh my goodness, it's been too long!!" the woman squealed happily, wrapping her arms around the girl who was a friend of her daughter. She hadn't seen the girl since the time she'd found her at a bus station during one of Adhara's... regretted job choices. Reena and Niita were quick to poke and cuddle with the tentacles of the younger woman.

"It's good to see you after such a long time! Is... is that a ring that I see on your finger?" she asked, giggling and showing off the ring on her own left ring finger, leading the girl into the apartment, gesturing an arm toward all of the food. "Feel free to have whatever you want, talk to whoever you want... y'know, do things. Buuut I'll be right back, other friends to greet, too!

Fitzroy!"
Adhara exclaimed happily, wrapping her arms around the gluttony child and smiling brightly. She had missed that boy a lot since her daughter had left. Honestly, more than most of the rest of her daughter's friends, especially the way that the boy was able to keep her little girl in line. "I've missed you so much! And of course I don't mind you bringing the cute little girl with you, that's perfectly fine. Make sure to keep at least half an eye on her, though."

---

The baby, on the other hand, was starting to rouse himself. Quietly, he moved his lips, small, balled-up fists pawing at the air in the hopes of finding one of his mother's hands to hug onto, or... something like that. Something to hug on, that is. A soft, sad noise came from his mouth, red-rimmed gold eyes opening slowly. Copeka blinked slowly, looking around the room full of people before whining sadly and burying his face against his mom's chest, tiny wings fluttering against the arm that held him. Why were there so many people...?!

---

Chailai was also noticing the large amount of people in the room. Making a sad noise, she clung a bit more tightly to Fitzroy's leg, green eyes flicking around the room. Large ears were pressed tightly against her head, tail flicking around slightly. Honestly, the little girl was afraid of this place, and would rather not be here. Well, maybe she would want to be there if... if it wasn't so loud. And maybe if she was there with her Mama instead...

Cody flashed a grin at Elisabetta, not minding much that she had nearly ran him over. There wasn't much he minded nowadays anyways. "Hello to you too and it's no problem. Which group are you here to see?" he asked, ignoring the fact that she was looking him over. Women seemed to do that to him a lot as of recently, though it didn't bother him much.

It did, however, make him a little uncomfortable. Despite having a lover and being gay, Cody did have to admit the woman was indeed beautiful. "I'm Cody, by the way," he added, hurriedly moving out of the way as the door opened and a woman he didn't recognize whatsoever started greeting them all, ushering the ones she recognized inside. Following them, he set the gifts on the indicated table and glanced around a bit.

He knew Vinny, Lira, Zuba, and sorta the girl who had nearly ran him over. Well, it was a start at least. Making his way over to Lira, he simply waved to Vincent as he passed by to talk with Zuba. "Hey Lira, you're looking good. Cute baby and congrats and all, by the way," Cody said once he got close enough to be heard over the chatter without shouting, flashing the woman a smile. She certainly did look good considering, though the lack of Aludra did puzzle him oh so slightly. Oh well, he'd find the greed spawn another day.

The rapid influx of people took Lira a little bit by surprise, and as they all began filing in, she reflexively drew slightly back. Her arms shifted, unconsciously holding her baby closer to her chest. Soft soothing noises came from her mouth, and she let her finger drift near his baby hand for him to grasp on. Although she was normally the social butterfly, given her recent scare and the surprising amount of people showing up, it made sense that she retracted just a bit. Nonetheless, she beamed at Vincent's sweet compliments, glancing at her infant warmly once more. "Oh, thank you so much, Vincent. That's very nice." She waved him good luck with socializing 'Zuba, then milled about the party, unsure of what to do.

That is, until a very attractive Greed spawn came up to her. Lira smiled happily at Cody, glad that he could make it. She hadn't been in touch with him for a long time, but from what she could tell, the days had been treating him well. He certainly looked handsome enough, but maybe that was just a Greed kid thing. She definitely felt her heart fluttering a little as she beamed at her son once more. "Th-Thank you, Cody. You're looking good, too." 'Very good,' she though privately to herself. "And yes, he is adorable, isn't he?" She smiled her warm maternal smile at Copeka. "My little miracle..."

When she looked up once again, her gold eyes lit up when she saw a flash of pearly white hair. With an apologetic smile, Lirona excused herself from Cody for the moment, promising she'd talk to him later. He knew other people here, after all, but she could already tell that Luthor was rather lost. She came up behind him and tapped him gently on the shoulder, smiling warmly at him. "Luthor! I'm so glad you came! I'm glad you could get away from the Facility for a little while." She giggled, then held Copeka out for the rare spawn to see. "Well, this is the boy of the hour. My baby Copeka, such an angel..." The young woman looked up at Luthor with a slightly tearful smile. "If- If you want, you can hold him a bit. After all... Without you... Well, he wouldn't be here."

- - -

"Heh-heh, it's good to see you to, MIss Adhara. I've missed you too." Fitzroy awkwardly hugged Adhara with one arm, giggling at her exuberance. But of course, why shouldn't she be happy? This was a happy occasion! "Oh, and congratulations with the baby and everything. I'm sure you and Miss 'Zuba are really excited." He laughed again, and opened his mouth to say more only to here a familiar voice behind him call his name.

"Llujah! Well, whaddya know?" Fitzroy smiled and ruffled the cute boy's hair affectionately. "Yeah, I did; looks like you did too. Way to go." He adjusted his hold on Chailai and made to say more, only to sputter when he saw what was in the crossdresser's hand. A... A present? ...Oh crap.

"Uh, uh, crap. Um, be- be right back, Llu. We'll catch up later, I promise!" Without any further explanation, Fitzroy rushed off, scanning the guests to find anyone that he could pawn a toddler off on for about half an hour. After a small panic, his eyes lighted upon Miss Zuba, and he decided. Shy people stuck together, right? Giving Chai's hair a reassuring stroke, he practically elbowed his way into her and the other kid's conversation, apology written all over his face as he set Chailai down at her feet.

"Um, h-hi, 'Zuba. Sorry to interrupt, but I just realized that I totally spaced on buying you and Lira a gift. I'm gonna go do that right now, but, um, could you watch Chailai - that's her - until I come back? I feel really bad for doing this to you at your own party, but, uh, I really don't know if she'll warm up to anyone else. Alright? Okay, I'll be back as soon as possible." With a sheepish smile, he darted out the door, hoping that he wouldn't get in too much trouble.

- - -

Damien jumped in surprise as a green-eared spawn darted out of the door, snarling as he was almost run over. What the hell was his problem? Whatever, that wasn't any of his concern right now. What mattered was, as he childishly put it, his mission: to get a picture of Lirona's baby ( if it existed ) and show it to Aludra, hopefully to yank him out of his depressed funk and inspire him to get his act back together. Although he hadn't been formally invited, he was able to justify his breaking-in to himself; after all, he was an emissary of the father, after all. So it was with serious thoughts that Damien nodded to his companion for the day, a certain sweet albino boy. "Alright, Cheyenne. Let's do this." With that, he led the younger boy into the apartment.

At first the amount of people in the small apartment startled Damien, but he was determined to get Aludra to fix the mess he'd gotten himself into. It didn't take long for him to spot Aludra's girlfriend, talking with a strange man with purple wings like Nina's. And to his delight, there was a squirming purple bundle in her arms. Aludra's son... He nodded with determination, then excuse-me'd his way through the people to try and get a good shot, always making sure that Cheyenne was in tow. In the end, he was leaning over the couch, growling as he looked through the sight of the camera. Stupid people, didn't they know that this was more important than their dumb conversations? "Grrr... How are we gonna do this?" he whispered to Cheyenne.
