 Finished with her nanny duties for the day, Nailah padded out, enjoying the feeling of the sand inbetween her toes. Surprisingly, she had finished earlier than usual today, so she had quite a large amount of time to herself today before retiring back to her den.
Deciding taking a small walk around the desert, would help her decide what to do today. She passed by a group of lions probably a little older than she was and overheard them talking about going to the oasis. Nailah couldn't help but slow to a stop, head slightly turned as she eavesdropped on their conversation.
"The oasis sounds nice..." she murmured to herself.

A big group of them had decided to get together and head for the Oasis. All told, Kinyago, his best friend Jiao Xue, Matifu and her friend Amavasi, and one of the princesses-- Maa-nefer, had opted to tag along. It was a big group that passed by Nailah, but it just took one to notice her.
Truth be told he had noticed her some time ago, but it was only recently that she was even old enough to be considered "legal", since he had been grown months before she'd even been conceived. Jiao Xue was actually the one that noticed Kinyago had taken to discreetly looking at Nailah, reading his friend's look easily enough.
 
"Sweet on her, or something, Kin?"
"No, but she looks a bit bored and left out. I recognize her, she works with my mother."
Matifu noticed, though Amavasi and Maa-nefer had not. "Ohhhh! Yeah, her! She's always working so hard, too, you should see some of the cubs she has to look after!" The young guardian nodded matter-of-factly, as if this was serious business. That seemed to settle it. Kinyago just glanced at Jiao with his eyes and moved out of the way.
Just a moment later the silver and white lion interrupted the conversation that was going on between the two girls by moving back past the group and calling over.
"Hey over there! You're one of the caretakers, right? We're going to the oasis! You should come with us and relax for a little while!"
 
The princess blinked, looking over, and offered a friendly smile. Amavasi looked a bit indifferent.

Nailah practically jumped out of her skin, horrified that they had seen her eavesdropping. Bowing her head to the older crowd she quickly stammered, "I-I'm so sorry! I-I didn't mean to eavesdrop..." she let out a small sigh to herself, feeling extremely embarrassed that they had caught her.
She glanced up at the group, realizing that none of them had scolded her or anything. Ears flattened against her skull feeling quite stupid, she smiled shyly at Jiao Xue, "O-oh...that'd be quite nice actually..." the lioness couldn't help but notice he was pretty good looking, not to mention kind. Her eyes scanned the rest of the group bowing her head low in greeting to the princess and smiling at the guardians and Kinyago. "I've never actually been to the oasis so..." she let out a rather nervous giggle, feeling quite like a child compared to everyone else.

((Kinyago will become a little more active once they get there I think.))
"First time for everything, right? Come on." He nodded the way they were headed with a grin. The others seemed in agreement, though Kinyago and Amavasi were quiet about it. Maa-nefer wasted no time in bringing Nailah in on the conversation as she moved around to gently herd her into their fold.
"Come on! I'm sure you'll love it. I remember my first time at the oasis without my parents or teachers, it's a lot of fun! It's like swimming at the lake but not so crowded!"

Nailah smiled, "That sounds nice." she said moving closer to the group, finally feeling like an independent adult. She blushed as she realized she was pretty close to Jiao and without meaning to, accidently bumped against Amavasi, "O-oh! Sorry!" the lioness backed away starting to feel like a cub again. She cringed inwardly, as the white male probably now viewed her as a clumsy one.
Turning her attention to the princess, she smiled sheepishly, "It'd be nice, not being with my parents for a change."

Jiao was grinning as he and his friend led the group. "Well, if you decide you like it you can tag along with us more often. I sure won't mind having another pretty face around, and I'm sure Kinyag--Oomph!"
"Come off it, Jiao." The lion in question rolled his eyes after elbowing his friend in the ribs. "Don't tease her. You are welcome to tag along, though." He said to her. That guy, always trying to get a rise out of cute females... "It's a bit of a walk though. It takes some getting used to. Tell us if you get tired."
"Hey, Kinyago! What was that for? Best friends aren't supposed to beat each other up!"
"It's your fault for being weak then."
"Ouch, so cold, Kinny."
"I told you not to call me that." Kinyago sighed, seeming resigned.

"Oh, thank you." Nailah gave an appreciative smile more to Jiao than Kinyago, keeping up her pace with the crowd. The lioness couldn't help but blush, being called a 'pretty face', and looked at the sand beneath her as she walked, biting her lip to keep from smiling.
"O-oh!" Nailah looked at Kinyago momentarily, "I will keep that in mind...thank you..." was she saying 'thank you' too much? Now Jiao was probably gonna think her a weirdo, or still a child. Oh dear, she would have to find some new vocabulary to use quick.
Still, she couldn't help but be excited to visit the oasis, since it was her first time going there.
