So. He had been back home for a while, but it was easy enough to curl up and sleep most of the days away. He didn't really have a reason to, but it had been so tempting the first few months he had been home. Now...well, he didn't have a reason to. He just knew that he didn't really want to ever leave his homelands again. Here was nice and safe and...muddy.
Rolling in the mud to keep the bugs off, he shook himself off, but the mud was already starting to dry on his coat. Ugh. Well, it never did much good to try and keep clean here. Instead, he continued to lie in the mud, just letting his worried float off.

Ibala had, somehow, managed to lose track of her mother, brothers, sister, aunt and uncle. Or.. she had managed to have them lose track of her and now she was wandering free and happy. Fortunately, she had no intention of trying to get away, just exploring on her own. She was purposefully pushing her way through tree roots and brush and stomping through mud, getting muddy and scruffy as she went and only stopping when very suddenly, mud came flying towards her. She managed not to shriek but did quickly (and a bit too forcefully) untangle herself to go investigate the source.
Spying the pale lion, she skipped forward with a slight limp from the force used to get out of the brush.
"What was that for?"

Arufu blinked as he heard a strange noise. Was that a bird? He glanced around above him, but didn't see anything. At least until he heard more noise, and glanced down to see a grumpy looking cub glaring at him. Er, whoops.
"Sharing?" he said, though he didn't sound to sure of it himself. He didn't mind sharing, but her mother might not be too thrilled to have a muddy cub coming home...unless he could figure out some sort of excuse for her!
"You ok?"

"Sharing mud?" she said, not sounding very convinced herself. There was too much mud around to try to say you were the one responsible for sharing it with everybody, though it was a good try when you got caught throwing it around. Huh.
"Yeah, I'm OK," she said, tilting her head once she reaches Arufu's feet and looking waaaay up at him.
"Why are you sharing mud?"

Arufu blinked. "Well, of course. Some don't know of the wonderous qualities of mud." He rolled...well, as much as he could roll in the sticky stuff anyway. His coat was slowly getting more matted with the mud, but he didn't care. He'd find a pool of water somewhere and wash off when he was done. Dirty water. It was never smart to go after the water supply.
"Don't you like taking mudbaths? Or...does your mom not like that?" His mom had been a little...different in that she hadn't cared that much. He had never gotten in trouble when he used to be Kina, and even now he wasn't worth much to worry about. Lazy was good, hunting was good, life was good.

Ibala hopped back, landing shakily on her sore leg but not bothered by it, far more interested in watching Arufu roll around. She giggled at him but waited for him to right himself before she spoke again.
"Of course!" she said, lifting one of her own muddy legs, "Mama doesn't mind, she likes playing in the mud with us!" She put her paw back on the ground.
"She doesn't like when we throw mud, though," she added, "You might get it in somebody's eye or.. something."
Ibala wasn't entirely clear on why they weren't allowed to throw mud, she barely listened.. but Kisuli had a hard time being serious anyway, she tried but she had fun playing with them.

"Oh, I didn't mean to throw it. I was just trying to make myself more comfortable." He nestled in the mud, knowing that he was going to have to get out of there sooner rather than later.
"I'm glad your mom lets you," he commented as he glanced at her markings. "Who's your mom, anyway?" Names...he could probably figure out who it was.
He felt the mud as it weighed down his mane. It kind of sucks growing up, cause there's more things around to annoy you. Like mud in your mane.

Everybody liked to say how much Ibala looked (and behaved) like her mother but clearly it wasn't that obvious. She was OK with that, she liked being just herself sometimes. Still, she puffed up when asked about her mom.
"Kisulisuli!" she said brightly, "And Bosede and Thelo are my brothers, and Bato is my sister. And I'm Ibala!"

He smiled. "Well then. Hello Ibala." Did that work well? He didn't really know how to act around cubs, but it was obviously going well enough ~ he was a bit of a big cub himself. "You can call me Arufu."
He lifted his muddy paw, placing it on top of his head before putting it back in the sloppy mud. Now the top of his head was muddy, but he didn't care much. He just laughed.
"Nice to see a girl liking the mud - can't say I see that as often as I see the younger boys."

"Pbbbbbbt!"
Ibala stuck out her tongue when he commented on seeing more boys playing around in the mud, and she moved forward to stomp in the mud a little bit to make a point about it.
"I'm waaaay more fun than any boys, especially Bosede and Thelo," she said, "Everybody should like mud."

Arufu just cracked up at that. He was...sort of rolling in the mud, but this time it was because of laughter. He had to take a moment to compose himself, as he hadn't quite expected to get that sort of reaction out of her!
"Well, I can clearly see that. I bet you're more brave than them too, to just stand right in the mud that I'm using right now." He made a small face, resisting the temptation to toss a little mud her way. It sounds like she was taught not to throw it. Bummer.
He wiggled his way out of the deepest parts, knowing that he must look goofy, struggling a bit. It was a suction that just tried to keep him down. "Maybe between the two of us, we can make sure that everyone likes mud."

Ibala was beaming at him-- until he suddenly implied it was brave to be standing so near to him was brave. She eyed him suspiciously and took a step back, wondering if she should strike first- but a quick look down was enough to know there wasn't really enough mud at her feet to try to throw any at him. So she had to go for Plan B, turning and hopping several large (as big as the little cub could manage, anyway) steps away from him as he came out of the mud.
"How are we going to do that?" she said, turning herself back around when he spoke again.

He watched her scoot away. Whoops. There were consequences to his choice of words, and he needed to learn that. Someday.
"Why, we just cover them in mud, that's how!" There was enough of it to go around. Plus it helped keep the bugs off in the worst of the heat. "I bet we could start with one of your siblings?"

She took a seat, considering what he said. It would be a lot of fun, but it would have to be kind of sneaky since mama didn't want them to be too rough.. but that would make it more fun!
"I like that idea! We could do that!" she said, beaming, "And we can try to get the ones that like the mud to help, too. I bet Bosede would help!" Yeah!

Arufu laughed. "Sounds like a plan. Let's go find him. You'll have to lead the way!" Perhaps she would like that, leading an adult around. As long as it wouldn't go to her head? He wasn't sure what her mother was like, but certainly Ibala could enjoy playing 'follow the leader' for a little while. Especially being the leader!
