Asali couldn't remember being so tired ever before in her life. It wasn't even a sleepy kind of tired, merely a bone-deep weariness that seeped into every part of her being and sapped away her strength, making her feel like further movement was forever an impossibility. Which was why she was so thankful for this short rest - it should be just enough to boost her strength again, to help her continue on... and most importantly, not leave Aanga to worry about her again!

With a little sigh, the naive sister glanced at her equally tired but possibly less-effected sibling, and smiled with a simple kind of joy lighting up her eyes. "We're really helping, aren't we, Aanga?" she asked quietly, her tone soft and sounding just a bit awed. "We're really helping others, and saving lives," she clarified happily, daring to stretch out her paws and able to ignore their aching because it was for something worthwhile.

They would be continuing on again soon, once Alake and Bolade returned from their hunt, and then they would warn others yet again, repeating the pattern of the last few days - and even if it was paw-aching, backbreaking labor just to keep ahead of the storm long enough for their information to be of any use, Asali couldn't have been happier with it - there was something that invigorated her and made all of the unpleasantness worth it every time another creature heeded their warning and headed inland.

And every creature who they saved was another who didn't suffer the fate of their last home; something Asali wouldn't wish on her worst enemy, if she had such a thing. Perhaps that was the best reason of all. With another stretch, Asali got back up on her paws, padded over to Aanga and nuzzled her sister, ears twitching as she listened to the sounds around her - their traveling companions could be back at any time, and she wanted to be ready for them.

Aanga was tired. She was used to being tired but this...this was different. This was nearly nonstop, and she ached in places she didn't even know could ache. The short rest provided by Alake and Bolade going hunting was a blessed relief. She looked over to her sister, smiling slightly and nodding. "We are, Asali." It was hard, and tiring...

But it was worth it. For the first time, she felt like she had a purpose beyond protecting her sister. A purpose she SHARED with her sister. This was beyond survival now. This was far beyond just surviving and trying to live. This was something great and...noble. Noble...it was a concept that she felt shouldn't have described anything she did.

The first-born lioness returned Asali's nuzzle, purring. It was nice, the affection her sister showed. And that even in such a dark time, her spirit still burned brightly. That was always what made Asali the prettier of the two of them.

Chimola and Gwembeshe had been on their own for a while now, and leaving the pride was still the best thing to happen to Chimola since meeting his bro. They made an excellent hunting team. And working together they could take on any rogue out there. Their teamwork was flawless. They were each other's wingman. No one could watch Gwembeshe's back as well as Chimola could. And he'd be run over by a herd of wildebeest before he'd trust anyone else with his.

It was all well and good, the savanna was theirs to roam. And just recently they'd wandered right into the biggest watering hole ever. Unfortunately the water was salty and gross. They didn't necessarily know where they were. But hey that wasn't a bad thing (and they'd never admit it anyway). They wouldn't even think about asking for directions to the nearest source of clean water. After all it went against article 99. "A Bro never asks for directions when lost. Exception: A Bro may ask for directions from a hot chick who seems to know the area. A Bro may ask for directions from a hot chick even if she also appears lost. A Bro may ask for directions from a hot chick even if he himself is not lost at all."

And as there certainly weren't any hot chicks around to "ask" anyw- Wait. Did his eyes deceive him? Dames. Two of them! Dude! Score! "Gwembeshe! Chicks! Dead ahead!"

"Oh, score, dude!" Gwembeshe eyed the two lovely ladies from his vantage point in the underbrush. They looked kind of similar. "Dude, Chimola, they look like they might be related. Not as good as a set of twins, but still! Go talk to them, man! Do it!"

Gwembeshe was their for his bro - and after that whole fiasco with the ugly chick his 'rents wanted him to marry, Gwembeshe felt like Chimola could use some luck with the ladies.

"You go first man, they aren't going to sit their nuzzling each other forever . . . wait. Let them finish nuzzling first, this is a good show."

Never let it be said that Gwembeshe would interrupt a tender, heartfelt, dead sexy moment between two lionesses. That would just be a crime.

Asali was naive, yes, but she wasn't deaf. The lioness' ears twitched as she heard the two voices whispering from nearby, and she tensed a little, nudging Aanga instead of merely nuzzling now, a questioning look in her eyes while her face was turned away from the talking underbrush. She didn't say anything - she didn't really need to; if she could hear those voices than Aanga could as well, and Aanga was a much better judge of whether someone was safe to be around or not - Asali knew that there were reasons why her sister had steered her away from some creatures during her life, even if she didn't like to think that anyone could truly be dangerous.

Still, she would not be the one making the first move - she wanted to say hello, and perhaps warn these creatures, but Aanga was so much smarter than she was, smarter and more careful and... well, there was a reason why she generally followed the other lioness' directions!

Aanga's ears went up a bit, hearing quiet voices (or voices the owners might have thought quiet) that she didn't recognize. They definitely weren't Alake or Bolade's. Sounded too...MALE. She smiled slightly at her sister's nudge and questioning look. Asali needn't worry about a thing...Aanga would take care of it. It was her job and a willingly taken on duty as the older sister.

She got to her feet, stretching, then shook herself. She put herself between the underbrush and her sister, just in case. Though the voices sounded...well, a bit harmless (if annoying). "A shame we've no company, isn't it Sister?" Let them come out without her needing to bring out her claws in front of Asali.

Chimola agreed whole heartedly on the subject of letting the lionesses continue to nuzzle each other. "Gwembeshe there are two of them, and you don't have to tell me twice but you can come with." He paused as he saw the one lioness get up and mention the need for company. Sweet!

He strode out from behind the bushes. "Excuse us, ladies, we didn't want to interrupt you." He said in his polite, I've been raised properly tone of voice. "I'm Chimola, and this is Gwembeshe." Chimola nodded towards his wingman. "We were wondering if you could point us to the nearest drinkable water hole?" They were even more lovely up close. Really, he had such excellent eyes, lucky Gwembeshe for traveling with him.

Gwembeshe emerged from behind Chimola, rather less gracefully then the other lion.
"Hey there, ladies. It's a pleasure to meet you. Even as thirsty and parched as we are." Then he hissed to Chimola, "Dude, we didn't do fur check? How'm I looking, bro?" Gwembeshe tended, on the whole, to be a lot scruffier looking then Chimola. Not that that was a bad thing, some chicks dug that. These two looked more like the squeaky clean type. "How are you two doing on this fine day?"

As soon as Aanga had 'cleared' the two strangers, Asali relaxed completely and offered the younger lions a welcoming smile - any attempts they made at flirting going right over her head as she greeted them both warmly. "Oh, hello there, both of you! It's always a pleasure to meet someone new! I'm Asali, and this is my sister Aanga!" Stretching her paws out a bit, the blue and yellow lioness tilted her head, wondering... should she warn them, or let Aanga do it? They definitely needed to know, it wouldn't be right not to warn anyone of the storm, especially two perfectly nice young lions!

"I don't really know where a water hole is, but you should head inland as soon as you can!" She paused for a moment and her tail swished back and forth anxiously. "Please do listen - there's a storm coming and I'd hate to see harm come to you because you didn't." Please let them believe her, she wasn't as good at explaining things as Aanga, but she did so want everyone possible to be safe!

Aanga should have known the males would be a pair of adolescents. Adult males tended to be...well, quieter. Generally, anyways. Aanga nodded to the two males as Asali introduced her, letting her sister be the 'nice' one. The boys didn't really look to be a threat. A little scruffy and definitely adolescents, but no threat. And...there was the fact they were warning EVERYONE.

"She's right. There are some streams and rivers around that you can drink from, but the sooner you head inland, away from the coast, the safer you will be." She frowned. "This storm has already claimed most of the lives in at least one pride."

Chimola nudged Gwembeshe with his hip, "You look fine." He hissed as an aside to him. As if he'd let his bro go around looking like he got in a fight with a dust spinner. Whatever, that was not the point. Damsels. Damsels in distress. That was the point.

"A storm?" That could be bad, man. Really bad. The best course of action would likely to run down some fresh water, drink and then vamoose as fast as their awesomely strong and fleet paws could take them. Though... "Well if there's a bad a** storm coming what are you two lovely ladies lolly-gagging around here for? Shouldn't you two be heading inland as well?"
PostPosted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 11:09 pm
Gwembeshe calmed down after Chimola's hiss, but spoke out again when he saw their opening, and rushed in.

"If you two are heading away from the storm, we'd be pleased to offer our, er- company. We might be able to help somehow."

Gwembeshe was more than eager to travel with the pretty females, if they allowed it. Running for their lives was sure to be exciting, and, presuming they survived, he was sure everyone would want to celebrate properly.

"Oh, it's not like that at all!" Asali said, blinking at the two young lions. Did they really want to help? She wasn't exactly sure how they could, and she looked to Aanga for a moment before speaking again.

"We're not heading inland yet; we're warning everyone we can first." She paused as her eyes darkened. "I don't want anyone else to die if we can prevent it."

The younger of the two sisters paused again, before backing off and letting Aanga take over. These lions did seem nice enough, but it was up to Aanga to decide if they would be acceptable company on their journey. Asali was just no good at those kind of decisions!

Aanga nodded as Asali told the two boys what they were doing. "So far, we've managed to warn quite a few, but there's still more coastline to go. We're only taking a short break while our two companions are hunting." Because they couldn't go far on empty stomachs at all. Despite their attempts.

"You coming along with us at current would mean you'd know very little rest, a mostly empty belly, and muscles and paw pads that beg to go no further." She'd encountered males like them before, always eager to try and impress a lady until they got what they wanted. Perhaps this would deter them.
