Valentine's day was approaching and was a day away. On the Eve, he was more and more nervous about knowing he had someone to be with and the heavy pressures of the great expectations for something to happen on those days. A kiss. A move of some sort. Something had to make that day special, and he was racking his brain to try and be more….sauvé and creative. He came up with nothing, and felt like he was the miserable sort to just get candy and flowers. Sure, it was nice, but it was too overdone. Ugh. He didn't even know what Billy liked aside from art, and wrapping his paints in ribbons sounded strange.

While he was thinking about this and jittery over what to wear if and when Billy did call him, he knew he had to see Paris before the big day. He was certain the boy would have TONS of people wanting to spend that day with him, and seeing as Ladon would be busy, he doubted he could give him his present in time.

So, the night before, he texted Paris to see if he was free, and sat in his apartment, recently furnished, and looked at the pink box sitting on the table. He hoped he liked it.

Normally his Valentine's Day schedule would be crammed with people itching to see him, but this year was rather odd in that he just didn't feel like dealing with all that. Sure, he liked being showered with chocolates and good food at decent restaurants, and he liked hearing his many boyfriends telling him how beautiful he was and how much they wanted him, but after a certain point it just got old. Or, rather, after certain events it just... didn't feel right. He had too much on his mind and too much going on in his own life to worry about anyone else.

But he would always make time for Ladon, and he hoped that seeing him would actually prove to be a sufficient distraction. He'd spent much of his time since... well, since the disaster of Friday resting and trying to recuperate, which was difficult when part of him dreaded going to sleep. At the moment, he'd do anything to avoid all that. Only a few days in and he already hated it, just as he'd known he would.

He paused outside Ladon's door to make sure the sleeve of his shirt was doing a decent enough job covering the brace on his left wrist. He'd only gotten it yesterday morning, so he hadn't really had the chance to come up with much of an excuse as to why he had it. Lying and saying "Oh, I got into a fight with one of my boyfriends" would probably be a very bad idea. He supposed he could give Ladon the same excuse he'd given his parents, but he wondered if it would be convincing enough for his friend who arguably knew him better at this point than his parents did.

Only once Paris was satisfied that he might be able to get away with hiding it for the first few minutes of tonight's interaction did he lift his other hand to give the door a firm knock. "Lady, it's me," he said, loudly enough for him to hear, but hopefully not so loud that he would disturb any of Ladon's neighbors. He didn't want to just barge in, and he hoped Ladon kept his doors locked even when he was home, considering the area of town he was in.

Ladon had waited to see to meet Paris, but he didn't get a message. Instead, he tried up the place, which wasn't hard as it usually was clean, and finished the last of the dishes. He continued to look over at the box, wrapped in pink and tied in a bow. It was rather strange to give a friend such a pink gift on Valentine's Day Eve, but it was a Valentine's Day present. Just not THAT sort of present. It actually had been an idea he had had to give to Paris on Christmas, but he never got around to finishing it in time. Instead, it got postponed, and then when he meant to give it, he and Paris had their fight. So it sat in secretly until he waited for a time and a holiday to give it. Valentine's Day was a good excuse and well, it was a small expression of love. Friendship love, which – sounded really corny.

"I'm such a cornball." He said to himself, drying off his hands and going to water the small potted plant that now sat on the windowsill. It was nice to have an apartment with stuff in it, and he enjoyed being able to sit on the second-hand, used furniture as if it were straight from the stores. To him, they were amazing because they were his. He and Paris had worked hard to find it all. Paris did a lot for him that, looking at the box, he started to find it as something too small and pathetic in comparison. The blonde would be getting gorgeous things from countless admirers that he was stringing along. Probably a few rich ones too.

Sighing, he finished water the plant and turned on his ipod for a moment to have some noise in the background. It was modern pop because he liked upbeat music that wasn't vulgar or mean. Just happy, cause with the world as it was, why brood on the bad things?

The knock on the door made him turn off his ipod and head to the door. It took some messing around with locks and a quick 'Hold on a minute' before he checked the peephole and opened the door. "I thought you'd call first." he said, but looked about before gesturing for him to come in. Once Paris came inside, he shut the door and started to lock it again, fighting with one sliding lock in particular that never liked sliding place. When at last it clicked, he turned and breathed out. "Thought you'd be busy. Everyone is out and about this time of year. Where you just out again?" He asked, wondering if Paris was either finding a date, or getting ready to meet his date for tomorrow. His friend usually liked to talk about his big plans or what exciting things he did that week or even that day
PostPosted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 9:43 pm

Paris stepped in as soon as Ladon opened the door for him, giving him a small smile even as he apologized for not calling first. "Oh, sorry. I guess I just forgot." He'd been so lost in thought, trying to figure out what he wanted to tell Ladon -- or if he wanted to tell him anything -- in regards to his arm and... everything... that he hadn't even realized he'd gotten there until he was inside Ladon's building, and by then it had seemed pointless to call when he could just announce his presence by knocking. "It's alright. There wasn't any trouble or anything. I'm on this side of town a lot and I know some people around here anyway. I bet I can take care of myself on the streets better than you can."

He looked around, though he already knew what the place looked like seeing as he'd help to decorate it and set everything up, but he was trying to pull himself together and not speak of things that were better left unsaid. It was difficult to lie, and harder than he'd thought it would be to pretend as if everything was normal.

"I haven't been out in a few days," he admitted, idly fiddling with the hem of his sleeve. "Just sitting at home, avoiding school, things like that." He'd almost forgotten tomorrow was Valentine's Day until he'd seen a cheesy commercial on the television that ended with "Every kiss begins with Kay" as its corny jingle. Seeing such sappy things when his world was so shaken up made him even less inclined to agree to any dates tomorrow. He'd just have to find something to do by himself, maybe treat himself to something special instead of spending a lot of time around people and their lovey-dovey kissing and hugging and hand-holding and all around mushiness.

"Is everything okay?" he asked, glancing back at Ladon again. "Not that I mind coming over, but with tomorrow being what it is I thought you'd be spending a lot of time with Bi--" he stumbled over the name. Saying it out loud made him want to punch a hole in the wall, so he amended the statement to, "with your boyfriend."

They were both distracted. Ladon too had been in that battle, and while he got hurt, his wounds were easier to hide. The bandages around his chest made it feel tight, but a energy orb each night helped, and that got rid of the bruising on his brow, but there was still a cut. He left a bandage there and felt he could easily excuse it. Sure, he wasn't about to lie. He was going to say he fell down and scraped it. That was…a tad true. He fell down from getting a wind blast from Quail, so it was more omitting the details than lying.

As for any nicks and scraps that he had on his arms and fingers, those were all but gone too. The one perk that the Negeverse had over the senshi is that they could take energy from others to heal and didn't give a damn if they did. Ladon had been grateful he could just sleep (as best he could) and consume energy now to help with the bruises and scrapes now. The main wounds still required time.

While Paris was distracted too, probably taking time to notice any cut on his brow, Ladon was also nervous. "Oh, well, that was just the thing. I might be busy tomorrow, so I wanted to talk to you, cause I'm sure you'll be having fun…uh..yeah. Well, you see I wanted to give…" He was about to move to the box on the table when he noticed Paris fidget with his arm, and noticed the arm was a lot thicker than the slender arm the boy usually had. It was a bad thing that most of Pari's clothes were form fitting as it fitted the form of the cast.

"…What happened to your arm? Is it swollen?" He was very alarmed, and looked up at Paris before moving over. Now that he noticed, the boy was holding it out straighter, not to mention away from his side as if being careful. Suspicious and worried, and moved to touch it.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:25 pm

Paris frowned just slightly at the thought of Ladon being busy tomorrow. He'd assumed he would be, but he didn't like thinking of what "busy" would entail. As much as he would have rather gone at least a little longer without having to try to think of some way to explain his arm, Ladon's sudden concern was enough to take his mind off of what his friend planned on doing the following day before the metal images spiraled into unpleasant things.

"Oh... uh...." he hesitated. He let Ladon touch it, seeing no point in yanking it away and attempting to hide it when it had already been seen, allowing the sleeve to fall away to show the brace. It wasn't quite as bulky as a full plaster cast, but it was still awkward. "Yeah, I sort of broke it." The temptation was strong to admit that some psycho b***h had attacked him with a curling iron, but he knew that would sound strange and require too much explaining -- the sort of explaining he didn't want to do.

"I fell," he said, reusing the excuse he'd told both of his parents. "Rolled out of bed and landed on it wrong. It's not so bad. Just a little break right here," he told him, and motioned to the wrist bone on the thumb side of his arm. "I got the brace yesterday. The doctor said if the break had been on the other side of my wrist, they'd have put it in one of those big, ugly casts. I'm glad they didn't, because I'd rather not have people coming up to me asking to sign it," he said with as much of a smile as he could muster. "Talk about tacky. But they said it'd be better in six weeks. Until then I'm not supposed to do much with it. No lifting and stuff."

He watched Ladon's face to see if his friend believed him. He worried that he didn't sound convincing enough. He was a good actor but not a good liar, at least not when it came to big ones. Honesty was a big thing for him, not only when it came to other people, but in regards to himself as well; he didn't like lying and so never did it. At least not until now.

Watching Ladon as he was, it wasn't long until he noticed the bandage on his brow, and he moved a hand to gently touch it, brushing some of Ladon's bangs out of the way. "Looks like you're dinged up, too. What did you do, run into a door?" he asked, trying to laugh everything off.

The sad truth was that Paris didn't need to be convincing. The fact the boy had continued to get angry with Ladon about honesty and truth, that he held as one of the most important things on his list, had caused Ladon not to question the explanation. Why would he? Paris wanted to be upfront and he was sure he would have told him when he saw him. Or at some point. Having just gotten out of the hospital, he was sure he had been busy or tired. Maybe both. Not only was the excuse taken, but telling him about his time at the hospital and how long recovery should take just made it sound more convincing, and while he inspected the brace, he nodded, concerned.

It was the touch of the brow that caused him to look up and finally stop his inspecting of the blonde's wrist. "Oh, I fell. I was outside and the wind hit me. Smacked into the ground." It was an excuse he had reserved and unlike Paris, he was better at them. HAD to be as part of being a Negaverser. He lied to his friends, his mother, doctors, and even the police when he came in for his eye. He convinced them all, but for Paris – well…Paris was harder to convince. The guilt always hit Ladon the worst with Paris. It was why that he tried to make his excuse as close to the truth as he could, greatly omitting the details. Yes, he fell and hit the ground and it was because of the wind, but it was Quail Eye in a dream world that had hit him with a magic blast and while he had wings. That he could not tell Paris.

He touched his temple, feeling more pain in his chest from withholding the whole truth than on his brow. "You should be more careful in bed. I'd have for that to happen to you again. I'd say drop a pillow on the ground at least." He dropped his hands and then felt that whatever discomfort he had with giving Paris his gift was no longer there in the face of the discomfort of guilt. He hoped that, in some way, the gift would also make up for all the lying. For all the fibs he had to say and all the time those fibs hurt Paris. He knew it wouldn't, but the boy at least deserved something for all he had put up with and for putting up with him.

Turning about, he took the box and came back. "Here. Maybe this will cheer you up." He held it up for Paris to take, slightly pink around the edges as he was more self-conscious about the wrapping paper. "I was going to give it to you before, but I didn't think it was the best time, and I know you're probably going to get better gifts tomorrow, but……….well, here you go." He was nervous, wondering if Paris would just laugh at how silly it was or not get the connection. That or just think it was strange to get a stuffed animal from a boy, and not something as great or grand as jewelry or underwear, two things Ladon knew the boy liked.

He almost questioned Ladon, almost asked for further explanation, but he let it go. Yes, he wondered. He always wondered, but considering he wasn't being truthful himself, he didn't think he had any right to question his friend when he'd given him a perfectly valid answer. It was windy sometimes -- very windy, occasionally. Paris was thin and barely taller than Ladon; he'd been pushed around by an especially strong gust of wind every once in a while. It wasn't too difficult to imagine a sudden gale knocking Ladon over. It was perfectly believable; he had no reason to doubt him.

The notion of a gift was a wonderful distraction that couldn't have come at a better time. In seconds, any suspicions he might have had, any questions he may have wanted to voice, were completely wiped away in the face of the gift Ladon help up for him. Paris looked from his friend to the wrapped package, curious and surprised. The most he ever got on Valentine's Day were chocolates, maybe some flowers if he went on a date with an especially sweet guy, and sometimes something kinky, but not anything really expensive -- guys had learned not to waste too much money on him when they weren't with him for long in the first place -- and never anything truly heartfelt.

Paris took the package from him and began to carefully unwrap it, so shocked to be getting a present that he didn't even want to damage the paper that encased it. "You didn't have to get me anything," he told him, feeling guilty for not being able to return to favor. "I don't have anything for you. I mean, I don't really do Valentine's Day, except, you know, going out and stuff," he said, but didn't bother to elaborate on what "and stuff" was. "I've never really gotten a present. Usually whatever I get is more like an incentive to... er... do things..."

He leaned back to sit on the futon couch, letting Paris has fun tearing apart the present. Instead, he went very slowly, and Ladon was starting to feel impatient as he watched him undo the ribbon, fold aside the paper, and work to take off the lid. As he did, he talked to ease his nerves. "Oh, that's alright. I didn't expect anything. This wasn't nothing. I planned to give you it a while ago, but I wasn't finished in time for Christmas, and …..then things got in the way…" As in their fight over Billy that kept him on not-speaking terms. "….so I was just waiting for a time to give it to you. Now just seemed to be the best time. Ya know, since …" he rolling his hand, as if to substitute 'I love you' as a hand gesture. "…..as a friend. You've ……done a lot for me Paris, and put up with a lot of stuff too. I really appreciate it." Okay, mildly uncomfortable now.

What was inside was simple, but noting that was brought from a store, mass produced, and quickly bought. Nothing was magnetic to clip into a kissing pose, or pressed to sing "Wild Thang'. It was simply, elegantly, and with care and attention to detail, a swan. It was slender, with long, graceful ballet feet, and a tutu to match. It's wings were curved into a 'C' to show that it was in a pose, and it's toes were in ballet slippers, a hard feet for Ladon to pull off and sew, and the straps went up it's legs and tied off into a bow. It's eyes were half open, glimmering blue marbles, with a small bill. Long lashes made it look as if it was just opening or closing its eyes.

"A swan was all I could think of about ballet. I don't know much about it, so I just grabbed a few images off the internet and tried my best. I tried to be accurate." He liked that he could at least make the outfits realistic at times, and yet keep that fantasy aspect to it. As a…rather embarrassing bonus, one which he hoped Paris wouldn't notice until later, it actually had a pair of black panties underneath it on. One that, on countless occasions, Paris liked to flash at him. He thought it would be a funny joke, but it had paused several times when making them for the adorable swan to realize WHAT he was exactly doing. He took many breaks during that part of the sewing process.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 15, 2011 10:52 am

Once Paris had finished unwrapping the present, he set the paper and box aside to hold the swan in his hands, gently touching and examining it and looking at it with a mix of expressions on his face. He hadn’t really known what to expect as far as the gift was concerned, but it ended up being something he couldn’t have thought of on his own. He didn’t have any stuffed animals and hadn’t kept any of his toys from childhood. He hadn’t really ever thought he had need of one, but Ladon’s gift was both thoughtful and oddly appropriate.

“Swan Lake is one of my favorite ballets,” he said, moving to sit next to Ladon on the futon, still gently holding his present, touching its eyes, its tutu, and the ballet slippers on its feet. “Odette is put under a spell by a sorcerer and forced to transform into a swan. The spell can only be broken if a young man falls in love with her and makes of vow of eternal love. Prince Siegfried meets her and falls in love with her, but he’s tricked by the sorcerer and ends up making the vow to the wrong person.”

Paris paused to smile, holding the swan in his lap for a few moments before clutching is close to his chest. “Instead of remaining under the spell, Odette kills herself, but Siegfried doesn’t want to live without her, so he kills himself, too, and they’re together in death.”

It was all really rather morbid, but the transformation imagery seemed especially relevant to him at the current time. Ladon probably hadn’t even realized at the time that he was working on this how apropos it would be to the situation. Paris was all too familiar with the idea of transformation, and while it wasn’t exactly a circumstance that was forced uoon him, it certainly felt like it. Of course, it wasn’t something that could be resolved as easily as making an eternal vow. His situation was a bit more complex.

Shifting closer, Paris leaned in to wrap his arms around Ladon, hugging him tightly, though still holding on to the swan. “Thank you, Lady,” he said as he placed his head on Ladon’s shoulder, resting against him a bit more heavily than usual, but he felt heavier than usual, weighed down by everything that was going on. “It’s wonderful. It's perfect," he said. "I love it.” And he clutched both it and Ladon tightly, as if by doing so everything else would just melt away. He might not have been the sort to keep stuffed animals before, but he could see why people did now. Having something to hold onto was comforting.

It was a romantic story that supported being meant for someone, and loyalty, but he disliked the unhappy ending. Being one for getting the girl in the end, he would have rewrote that story in a heartbeat, but he was glad he made a plushie based on a ballet Paris favored. He did find it strange that, for a boy who confessed to not believing in love, that he liked a story based on just that. Part of him wanted to poke at Paris to point that out, but he silenced by a pressing hug and a head against his shoulder.

Startled, he looked down, and then, tentatively, wrapped his arms around the boy and held him back. Usually their hugs where rather short and sweet, often loose or with a quick squeeze, but this one lingered and Ladon started to get worried that something wasn't right. Still, he didn't press it, and he responded by holding a tad more tightly than usual. "I'm glad you like it. I know I always liked having someone there waiting for me when I went home and to my room after a hard day, when I felt alone, just to hold for a bit as much as I wanted." That alone revealed a sad, lonely history for Ladon, but that was in the past. He continued to hold his best friend.

"I'm sorry I haven't gotten to hang with you as much, and that you're upset with a lot of things I've done. You deserve a lot, even if you don't think you do. You're a really good person and a really good friend, and I wanted to make something special for you. It's not a diamond necklace or a designer jacket, but I'm glad you like it. I just wanted to show that I care about you and you mean a lot to me. Thanks for sticking around, Paris. I wouldn't have gotten through a lot of things without you." And he had yet to know what train wreck he would drag Paris though in the future. The plushie didn't make up for all the lies and guilt he had when considering his friend and their past, but he was trying to do his best to make it up to him.

He didn't believe in love lasting. That wasn't to say the world was completely devoid of it, just that it rarely stood a chance when it did occur. Love turned into hate, or people grew apart, or things grew to be so difficult and impossible that death was the only option. It happened all the time. Maybe it wasn't always as explosive as his parents' divorce, or as tragic as a story like Swan Lake, but he'd seen enough to know that love could be sucked dry and beaten.

The idea of love didn't appeal to him, but doomed love did. He thought it was much more realistic that way. There was no charming, handsome prince on a white horse with a gleaming sword and shield, coming to save the day and sweep him off his feet, to take him to a beautiful castle where dreams came true. But there were monsters, and there was death, and there was fighting and heartache. Those things were real. But the idea of love surviving everything? He'd believe it when he saw it.

Paris continued to lean against Ladon, shaking his head when he apologized. "I'm sorry for being difficult, and selfish. I know I'm a lot to handle," he said, and he thought that was probably why most people didn't even bother. "I just... I want so many things. And you've been so good to me. I mean, yeah, there've been some... some issues..." He didn't want to start accusing him of lying again and reopen that can of worms, but he couldn't go without acknowledging that they'd had some troubles.

"But you put up with me, and I... I don't want to lose you," he finished quietly. Admitting to things like that made him feel pathetic. He shouldn't need someone so much, but for some reason he did. At some point he'd become too attached, almost dependent, and while he disliked how it made him feel so vulnerable, he didn't want anything to ruin it. There was so much going on now, so much was changing. He needed the stability. He needed to know that no matter how shitty things got with all this other crap he was having to go through, he'd still have someone there for him when he needed to get away.

"Can we stay like this for a little while?" he asked. He didn't want to pull away just yet, but he would if Ladon was feeling uncomfortable.

There was only one bad thing about the hugging, and that was Ladon's bandages. It was a lie to conceal them, and he didn't want the boy to find out. It was only luck that he was wearing a sweater that made it hard to notice, but when the boy shook his head, he winced. Yeah, that hurt. Still, he wasn't about to throw him off, and he breathed out, watching his friend confess his own gratitude and insecurities. Something seemed wrong about Paris, and he couldn't feel that he was going through a bad time, or had been going through a bad time without Ladon noticing. He hoped it was something recent or else he'd feel bad for not being there and more observant. Had he been too selfish dealing with his own problems, dating and the Negaverse, that he wasn't being there for Paris as he should? He certainly hoped not.

Setting his hand on the boy's head, he breathed out. "Yeah….I got nowhere to go." He said, smiling as he leaned back to get comfortable and let Paris lean against him at what was hopefully a comfortable angle. "Its okay to want a lot. It's called like goals, and it helps keep you hopeful and looking to the future. It's good that you have so much you want in life. It's when you don't have any that I'll start to worry." He set the hand on Paris' head on his back and slowly rubbed it. He read somewhere that was soothing, and let the other arm remain wrapped around him. "You don't have to worry about loosing me. We've been through a lot, and I don't plan on going away anytime soon. I did just leave my house to stay in the city after all. I'm sticking to this place for as long as anyone needs me." For as long as Earth and the Negeverse needed him, but also for Paris and Billy. He was connected to this city that leaving just was out of the question.

"Paris…….if ever you have a hard time and need to get away or see me, you know I'm here for you. I'd make time, even if I'm in the middle of something." Say, as if he was on a date with Billy. "…..you can talk to me whenever you want or even stay over." Now that he thought about it…. "How about I give you a key to my place? I can ask the landlord if I can get an extra. How does that sound?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 15, 2011 8:20 pm

If Ladon hadn't noticed, it was only because it was all so recent. In the space of a single week, Paris's world had been completely shaken up, and now it was simply a matter of waiting for it to settle back down -- if it ever would. The worst thing about it was that he didn't have anyone to talk to. He wanted to. He would have told Ladon if he could. There wasn't anyone else he trusted enough with a secret like that, but it just seemed out of the question. He hadn't wanted to be involved, therefore he didn't want to involve anyone, least of all his friend, even if it would have felt so good to get it all off his chest.

He settled a bit more comfortably against Ladon when it didn't appear as if he minded, shifting so that he wasn't completely on top of him, but more nestled into his side, with his arms around him and his head on his shoulder, and his swan pressed between them both, warm and plush against his chest. The hand on his back felt wonderful, and he closed his eyes for a few moments, taking comfort in Ladon's gentle, soothing touch, before opening them again to look up at him when he mentioned getting another key.

"Really?" he asked. He sort of liked the idea of having a key, though it wasn't like it was all that difficult to have Ladon let him in. If he had one, he'd be able to come whenever he wanted, though, even when Ladon wasn't there, and while he supposed that might be a bit intrusive, it made him feel more like he belonged, having that option. He liked Ladon's place better than his dorm room, and better than home. He liked sitting on the futon together like this, or staying up until all hours of the night just talking about random things, or using the tiny kitchen to make whatever they wanted whenever they wanted it.

"Can I?" he continued to question. "Have a key, I mean. Unless that's bothersome. I don't want to, like, intrude or anything. I mean, I know you said I could come over whenever I wanted, but you'll probably want some privacy, too." Especially with his boyfriend. It'd be really awkward to walk in on them again. Not that he'd have the same reaction as last time, but still... so awkward and frustrating. He was happy that Ladon was happy, but he would prefer that he be happy with someone else.

One day he'd learn to live with it. One day...

It was a touchy subject to bring up and though it was embarrassing to think of Paris walking in on anything, it was a realistic concern. "I wouldn't have offered if I didn't want you to have one. This place is as much as your second home as it now is mine. Well, first now I guess." He looked around the small apartment, not furnished with things that he and Paris both found and bought, and a few things that Billy had brought over from his family's basement and insisted he take. Two of the people he cared the most about had helped creature this place, and he felt happier looking at the second-hand items just through the thoughtfulness and concern that they brought to mind.

Looking back down, he smiled, though a little more uneasy than before. "I can…put something on the doorknob to warn you if you're going to intrude on anything, okay. To be safe. Something that only you would get. No point in alerting the entire floor that I want to be alone for a bit of time. I'll find some ornament like Christmas bells or something to hang, but really, I don't think I'll be doing much of anything. You can come over whenever you like. Even if I'm sleeping, you can slip in and crash. I'd rather you sleep here than somewhere dangerous." If Paris was ever drunk, wandering alone, or didn't want to stay with the person he was with, he wanted to show he had a safe place to come to and just lay down without any harsh judgment. Well, aside from some mild scolding from his best friend. "I'll ask for another key tomorrow. Oh…Well, whenever I can." He'd be a tad busy tomorrow.

He continued to rub the boy's back, but looked more concerned again. "Is everything okay, Paris?"
