For the second time in almost as many months now someone had been rescued from the jaws of death at the paws of the desert. Last time it had been Caspian, and one of her friends had been there to see to him. It was a bit different this time around.

For one, it was Shernesertiti that was going to see the new arrival, and she wasn't going to look after him, but to greet him. Her uncle was at her side, as well, seeing as it fell on either one of the ruling royals or him, as the vizier, to greet and approve new arrivals. Sher was along out of curiosity's sake more than anything.

When they reached the den he was being kept in one of the healers was on their way out. Sher and Matifu greeted them in passing and inquired about the young male's health before proceeding.

"I know it's a bit soon to ask, but I hope your experience with the desert won't sour you from the idea of our home. How are you feeling?" Matifu announced their presence with a deep, gentle baritone. Sher stood a bit aside of her uncle, watching the newcomer with polite but curious eyes.

His eyes kept blinking at a constant pattern, as if the act would help get the glare from his sight. Had he possibly gone blind, from the bright sun and pale, reflective grains of the desert? The lion prayed not, despite his vision still being dim and blurred. Hopefully that was just an effect of the cave and shadows now surrounding him.

Stretching on the gathered palm leaves, Havilah searched his memory for how he had gotten here....and for how long. But that too was all a blur, and the massive pale lion was more content just enjoying his moment of rest. But even that was cut short, as a voice echoed on the stone walls. Furrowing his brows as he focused, Havilah settled himself into a reclined but upright posture as he spotted the figures from the cave entrance. Their scent was similiar to the ones that had tended him in his waking moments, but he knew that they were a new presence for him.

"Your home, you say? How do you thrive out here?" The male shook his mane at a slight headache before continuing. "I'm still breathing. Thanks to your kind, I take it. And I am grateful, sir....?"

"Matifu. I'm the pharaoh's vizier. I came to see how you were fairing in your recovery."

He ambled slowly into the room, his large size being one reason, but old age slowly catching up with him being another. Settling down on his stomach to watch the new comer, he also noticed when Shernesertiti went to retrieve some cool water for him from a basin they managed to drag into the den for their recovering guests. She set a helping of it down in front of him, then settled to sit nearby.

"This is my niece, princess Shernesertiti."

"Survival is a simple matter of knowing how to navigate the desert. For our kind it comes naturally, though that comes with time for our members born elsewhere."

"Vizier? Pardon my asking, but it sounds like a high rank." At least, that's what Havilah imagined with the foreign word, being that this stranger was the first to formally greet him. An outsider.

The pale lion attempted to stand, but his muscles clenched like a snake crossing the desert, and Havilah was forced to a stiff sitting posture. At least this would help his head and equilibrium clear. Already his sight was returning to him, if not slowly and with some figures remaining in a soft blur. Then the unmistakable sound of water hit his ears as it sloshed within it's container. Havilah peered down as another stranger approached, this one lacking a mane and placing the water beside him. For him, there was no other precious gift for such a stranger.

Even so, as much as he wanted to gulp down the refreshment till he couldn't breathe, his throat felt thick like cotton.

"Thank you, both of you for your kind gestures. It's obvious I am no desert dweller, and I promise not to stay long and waste your time or resources."
