Shibusen Cafeteria

Guess what you can do here? That's right; this is the classroom to train your connection with your partner! Yay!
I'm kidding. It's the Cafeteria. The Caf. You eat here. Another mingling area, during the day the school provides you with food, so don't have a panic attack if you forget your lunch or whatever. The rules of the Cafeteria are pretty basic: don't break anything, don't cause a mess. Other than that, have a riot. Not really. Because I don't think that I'm allowed to say that it's okay for you guys to have a riot.

Walking into the cafeteria. Yuji noticed how bland it looked, well in his opinion. He had imagined it would be so grand, with a grand piano in the middle with an expert player just fingering away at it. Chandeliers dangling from everywhere, that would just sparkle with the candles that were in them. Which would be changed everyday, and maybe even change color. With an exquisite banquet waiting for them, butlers asking for coats and maids cleaning every little nook and cranny of the place. Coming back from his little fantasy Yuji's eyes came to the halfway point again and dimmed. How, this was just a killer. But he shouldn't have expected much for this but he was sure the rest of it would be full of greatness. Besides if this place was good enough for his idol. It would be damn great for him. Reaching into his pocket with his other hand, he grabbed a pen and a little notepad and wrote...'The cafeteria is as great as he said...' and put a one and check next to it. smiling as he looked it up and down, you could see heavy ink from the back pages. This was where he would practice his graffiti art, putting his alias, and actual name. He needed to make something that made him unique so he choose this. Every since he saw it as a child but that was a story for another time.

Putting it up, Yuji came to look back to his acquaintance who had yet to introduce herself yet. Maybe it had just slipped her mind. Since she was so hungry and all. Letting go of her arm, Yuji walked a little off to a stand where they had something called 'cheese burgers' looking it up and down. Yuji wondered what this delicacy was called. He looked over to her and asked a question. "Um, what is a cheeseburger exactly?" Yuji asked as he blushed she would have probably thought he was an idiot. But it wasn't his fault he never really had any outside food, nothing except food from five star restaurants. With-out waiting he grabbed one and took a bite of it. He couldn't believe something this great wasn't made at the greatest restaurants in the world. From what he could tell it had ketchup, cheese, pickles, onion, something that was spicy, and the most important part meat. His eyes had seemed to brighten a little bit as he forgot about his shyness and started to scarf down one at a time. People seemed to stop and look at the young male as he hogged the stand and just kept eating, at this rate people thought he would explode. Noticing the looks Yuji stopped stuffing his mouth, and grabbed his handkerchief from his back pocket again, using the side without the blood he wiped away the crumbs. As he put it back into his pocket. He turned around to the girl and then back to the stand and grabbed a few more. Pointing to a table he looked at her and kind of signaled her he was going to sit there and wait for her.

Waiting at the table, Yuji couldn't help notice as the people walked around him. They all seemed strange yet normal at the same. Like a hypocritical animal also know as the platypus. Yuji just kept on looking at them all, wondering who he could become friends with. Even if he had a shyness problem he would eventually have to break out of it and make friends. Either that or stay alone like he was at his old home. Thinking of this again his eye's dimmed, and dropped back down to a half-way point. They seemed to react to his emotions almost as if they were mood rings. looking back over at the girl he patiently wait for her to come sit down. So he could pop the question of her becoming his weapon. He had just noticed something he never bothered to look at her name tag, but it was on her chest. And,... his face turned a little red at the thought. As he pondered on it more he shook his head. He knew it was rude to think of a girl like that. But for some reason couldn't help it.

"Never give your reasons,
for your judgement will probably be right,"

__________________________________________

As she entered the cafeteria, the surroundings did not even register in Val's mind. Rather, she simply smelled food. A strage instinct took over her and she instantly hunted down the food. The first thing her eyes laid eyes upon was... Who knows what. What the food was didn't matter so much as the fact that it was food. Whatever it was, she grabbed a plate full of it, bowed, and grabbed a mint (just in case she had happened upon a plate of bad breath). Then, she sat down next to that boy from earlier and set her plate down. With an extreme politeness unusual for her ravishing hunger, Valentine closed her eyes and gingerly picked up a fork and began to eat. She still didn't know what the food was, she hadn't eaten anything like it before. At the same time, it tasted like a mix of some variety of meat, ketchup?, something spicy, and cheese. Definitely cheese. Some sort of posh French cheese, undoubtedly. The French were so weird about cheese... After this thought passed through her head, Val shoved it out. Here, now, she wouldn't let any of her family's beliefs change her. Her purpose at Shibusen was to shape her own opinions about the world.

After getting about half way through the plate of food, Valentine set down her fork and was quite finished. To some, it might seem bizarre that a few minutes ago she was ready to eat a table and she only got through half a serving of normal food. But Val was only about 5'3" in customary units of measurement, and as such it didn't take much to fill her up. He seemed to be enjoying a cheeseburger, and from his attitude it seemed almost as if he had never been to a fast food restaurant in her life. Personally, if she ended up hanging out with her friends in the real world (versus online) they'd go down to Burger King or MacDonald's and have a cheeseburger and loiter (not illegal loitering, but just chilling). Yet... Here he was looking as though the concept of a cheeseburger was beyond him. She had heard him ask what a cheeseburger was earlier... Whether or not they became partners, Valentine figured that she'd have to try and show him some Western customs... Once again, Val found herself quickly shaking the thought from her head. That was an eurocentric view, and Valentine would not allow it. Her own opinions, her own opinions.

As she thought about this, Val couldn't help but notice him blush. She furrowed her brow and wondered what would cause him to blush. Then, she noticed how sad his eyes seemed. Earlier, she had been too hungry to notice but now he just seemed like a sad puppy dog. Honestly, she didn't know him but she knew the feeling... He was probably feeling in a similar way to her, maybe being constricted by his past...? She didn't know, but nonetheless she reached across and tapped both sides of his mouth, lightly pressing them upwards as if to make him smile before sitting back again. "You should smile," Val said. "Everyone's starting anew here, you know?" After saying this, Val smiled politely at him. No matter what, he needed to smile more. Of course, Val wasn't some crazy happy person or anything, but she was pretty positive and liked to keep a pleasant disposition. The easiest way to make friends was to seem friendly. Val knew this from experience, and it would do him well to know the same.

But for now, Val figured that it wouldn't do well to go on making everyone feel awkward (because though she saw someone in a manga do something similar to what she did, lightly forcing someone's mouth into a smile, but if one did everything as they saw it in manga, then life would be horrendously awkward) and so she simply rested her hands on her lap and addressed this meister. "So, you said you had something to ask...?" Once again, she trailed off, realizing that she still didn't know his name. Though her pride restricted her from admitting that she couldn't read his nametag, she would simply pretend that she had forgotten about the nametags. "Excuse me, but I'm afraid that I did not catch your name." Val said finally. This was better than saying something like, "I couldn't read your nametag" or anything in a related vein. Silently, she realized that he had yet to address her by her name, either. Maybe it was out of courtesy since she had yet to address him? Or maybe her handwriting was illegible... She hoped it was not the latter, as her more often than not her handwriting was criticized. Here, she didn't need another source of a problem...

Watching as the girl sat down next to him. He couldn't help but notice that she just seemed to grab anything from the line. But she seemed to be so hungry that she didn't even care. But Yuji just shrugged it off, as long as she had sustenance she would be okay. seeing that she only ate half of the plate, Yuji looked at it with amazement. She finished more than any usual girl that he knew. Which was a handful due to his shyness and his parent's always being private.

As she put her hands on his face, and put his lips up. In that in-acting smile. He heard her words and listening to them carefully. But he thought more about it, it was hard to smile with the childhood he had. But it would be more of a challenge to smile with his type of childhood. Looking at her he smiled" You, know it's hard to smile. Especially when you don't know what or who it's for." Yuji said with a smile. Smiling at her even a little more brightly. "Im Yuji Zanzaki nice to meet you. By the way your voice in very appealing and has a strong aura to it" Yuji said with a little more color in his eyes.He may have not know her long but when he was with her, for some reason she let him over come his shyness even if ti was only for a short while.

"Never give your reasons,
for your judgement will probably be right,"

__________________________________________

When the meister offered up an explanation, Valentine shrugged simply. All the while, she continued smiling. Truthfully, though she was not overly happy, she was quite pleased that she had gotten him to smile. Undoubtedly, this guy had some sort of hard childhood... Val's childhood hadn't been hard, or anything. Both her parents loved her and she had friends all throughout school. Now, here she was seeming like a total outcast here. It was a shift of scene, but surely there would be a video game geek crowd, even at this bizarre school? Maybe Val would even fall in with a different crowd here... If this were a normal school, that would be questionable. But this place was so weird. Who knew what sort of students attended this school. Heck, for all she knew the girly-girls whom she normally abhorred would be awesome here. The thought of the new school was enough to get someone hyped, and she hoped that he would feel the same about this. Not only because one-sided excitement was also awkward, but also because for some reason he looked so sad that Val just wanted him to be happy, even if he was faking it. Who knew why, but for now this was her goal.

In reply to his first comment, Val said simply, "Well, you decrease your chances of finding out unless you just go along and smile." As she said this, Val continued to smile and listened to his next comment. He introduced himself as Yuji Zanzaki, a very Japanese sounding name. Explaining why she couldn't read the kanji. Then, he commented about her voice. Val had never gotten a compliment about her voice, then again she had never left Scotland. Since everyone in her home has the same accent, commenting on someone's voice is kinda weird. Yet, the compliment still made her smile; it made her feel like here, being Scottish would make her different for once. Silently, she wondered what ethnicity the majority of people were here. To be honest, she had no idea where she was, like what country. She had gotten on a flight for "Death City" but it didn't specify what country that was. In hindsight, the plane had been pretty sketch, too... There were pretty much only bizarre people coming here. Of course, she had been to excited to realize how weird it was, but still this place was much stranger than her home.

"Thank you." Val said simply in reply. Then, it occurred to her that after him introducing himself, it would be polite for her to do so in return. "I'm Valentine Kyrie, by the way. But please call me Val." she continued while still smiling. Her smile was kind and sweet, as was she. Some people misjudge her based upon the fact that most of the time she is smiling like this, but honestly she's much different than the air-headed girls who spend all their time skipping around smiling and trying to make others smile (she doesn't usually do the latter, but for now she was and might be leaving a bit of a bad reputation). Regardless, for now she was just trying to make Yuji her satisfied. He seemed like a nice bloke, and honestly Val didn't want to ruin her chances of possibly finding a partner. Which in her very Western thinking brain makes her think that she sounds as if she is hoping to get married here. As far as she remembers, finding a partner is more like finding a lifelong friends (after all, straight girls and guys were often partnered together, right?).

After having said that, she rested her right elbow on the table (which may be rude in her customs, but at the same time now she was away from her parents and anyone who would get mad at her for doing so) and also rested her face on her palm. Then, she smiled at Yuji and said simply, "Well, Yuji, it looks as if we have gotten a bit off track. You said you had a question when you first approached me?" When she said his name, she remembered that Japanese people have suffixes which they add onto names. Young boys/teenagers were usually -kun, but right now Val didn't think that it would be appropriate for her to use a suffix. Since she was white, doing so only made her seem like a weebo. Rather, she used her Western brain to simply toss out his first name, as she did with any person her age or around her age she met back home. But this would probably be okay with him, after all he knew that other cultures have different formalities. And honestly, Western formalities are a lot less than Japanese. Which Val was okay with. She had been raised by a Scottish family, and there was no reason why she should try and change her customs.

Kohana walked into the cafeteria and looked around, she wasn't looking for a weapon but for food. And after all that walking and scrutiny from peers...finally....FINALLY!...she found some food. She walked over the to the cafeteria worker and just asked for coffee. Her nerves got the best of her, she was confident but she had a weird feeling, even more so when she got into the campus.

She walked past Val and Yuji, she was happy to finally be in the presence of a weapon at least. Ever since her mothers weapon retired, she hasn't been able to touch or see a weapon. She went ahead and walked to an empty table and sat there...taking sips of her coffee. She didn't feel the need to walk around and try to meet her weapon, she wanted them to find her.

Autumn entered the cafeteria, a bit glad that she had found it all on her own. She was a bit worried about what could happen if she didn't find a meiste quickly. Not many people are familiar with her weapon for, so she was pretty much screwed if no one could wield her. She shook her head of the thought, moving over to some stand. There, she saw some food that she wasn't familiar with. "Ano ang mga bagay-bagay na ito...?" She asked herself in Filipino, barely just above a whisper. The food was all so new to her that she couldn't identify what it was. Although, she wouldn't ask what it was. People would look at her as if she was crazy. Looking up at the sign of the stand, it said 'chicken sandwiches'. 'Chicken sandwiches... What are those? Never had some when I was back in Manila...' She thought to herself, trying to think of a time if she ever had the food before. She sighed, taking the sandwich anyways. She didn't care if she didn't know what it was, she was hungry and needed something to eat.

When she got the sandwich and something to drink, she had a new problem now. Where would she sit? She knew no one else but herself and the whole situation was akward. Scanning the room, it seemed that most of the tables were taken. She found an empty table in a far corner of the cafeteria and sat herself down there. She decided that she would eat before going of and finding herself a partner. Although, she didn't know if anyone else was open. She would have to go hunting for one as soon as she finishes eating, then maybe her luck would turn around. She might actually have a chance after all.

Giota kicked open the door of cafeteria making a loud bang sound when is swung around and hit the wall. He blank look on his face as he looked around looking at the people that were startled by his act of smashing open the door. They all looked at him, now getting sick about all of the things he'd been doing "Nehhhhhhhh..." he said as he walked up to the front where they were giving out food. He was looking around not looking exactly but his eyes scanning the area. He saw an pile of apples and he smiled grabbing three and beginning to eat them. He began to look at the students and saw a girl at a lone table. He walked over sitting across from her. He didn't say a thing, he looked over at her seeing she had a Meister tag, "Yoh" he said as he chewed an apple.

She had never seen this guy before and found him to be wildly attractive. She smiled " Hello " It was more then clear that english wasn't her first language, but to be able to talk to this guy she would certainly try. She put her hair up and continued to sip on her coffee. On the inside she was absolutely freaking out over two things:

One: She was finally back in the presence of a weapon! It had been soo long for her and she finally was there! She knew that this guy was strong too, she knew that maybe she would have a weapon like him

Two: She is indeed a girl in front of a guy that she finds attractive...

'Play it cool'
she thought and looked around. " So...is this your year? " As she up up her hair, she really hoped that she wasn't making a total fol over herself. But then she got a epiphany: ' Be yourself! '

Yuji had spaced out, during his conversation with val. He was focusing on the people that were coming in and out of the cafeteria. So many different faces, it was a like a big event at a carnival or something. But it was strange because for some reason he felt right at home, even if they were all just strangers. It must have been the fact that he knew there were Meisters and Weapons everywhere. Yuji, had snapped out of his moment of glancing everywhere like a child at the zoo. Hearing val talk about him not smiling a lot. It was true what she was saying.... maybe if he would smile more... maybe he could see what it would be like in the world with a happier opposition. But that would take a little more time him for him. Thinking this Yuji lifted his hand to his heart and his star tattoo that covered three fourths of his left pectoral. He quickly looked down at his hand, he felt it get a little more warmer. His heart that was, looking back up at Val, Yuji payed full attention as she spoke. He accent was still a little strange to him but enticing at the same time.

While he was doing so, a few girls had passed by their table. Not wanting to seem rude Yuji flashed a small smile at them. But it was only for a brief second as he then looked down into his lap. Trying to not to be seen, it wasn't really his style to strike up a conversation with someone he just saw. He would rather just smile at them and then walk away...or just hide...slightly. A few second later Yuji heard a big crash coming from the doorway, looking up he saw a male that seemed to be pretty well-built and tall. He seemed to have on of those cool guy composure's. Seeing a few people look at the individual a little weird, he just said 'nehhhhhh' not acknowledging the others, looking at him as if he had no manners. Looking away from him Yuji heard Val ask about the question he was planning to ask. Looking at her with a little bit of a surprised look. How could he forgot something so important, this was defiantly not a time to get side tracked. It was time for the big question. The whole reason why Yuji had went up to her in the first place. He hoped it would go well....but hope was all he could do at the moment.

As val changed the way she saw sitting, Yuji had gotten out of his seat. He pushed it aside, a good distance. He had started to knell down on the ground like a casual Japanese tea session. Something that he was used to due to him having them everyday. Resting his hands on his lap, he looked up at Val for just a second. His eyes had seemed to raise and brighten quite a bit since he first arrived at the academy. Now it was time. He was about to do something he never thought he could do, actually say his words aloud, and not soft like a sad child. Bowing down towards Val's feet. A loud burst came from Yuji's mouth, "Val will you please accompany as my Weapon, no my partner in this academy?" Yuji said his voice full of emotion. After the words came from his mouth he had wondered if he had over done it a bit. With the bowing and all, and then the whole loud burst. Thinking of the situation he considered he may have been a little to loud with the question too. Yuji just felt regret for acting so not like himself but it was just something about this place and this girl. He seemed to be changing, wondering if it was for the better.

"Never give your reasons,

__________________________________________

There were people going to and from the cafeteria. Val couldn't help but notice that jerk weapon come crashing in and begin talking to that one French girl. French people... No, Val shoved her old stereotypes out of her head and cleared it. Nevertheless, she mentally made notes on everyone. Some would see this as "judging", but it was really all being stored for future reference. In the past, people have called Val spacey, but in reality it is simply because her mind had so much in it. Countless mental notes like this were swimming around, not to mention battle strategies for any number of video games and all the different plots of every manga Val had ever read, waiting to be used, it only made sense that she would forget her lunch one day, or mismatch the shoes of her uniform. Sometimes, being brilliant comes at a price. Of course, referring to herself as brilliant sounded cocky. Her mind was just gifted at being able to multi-task and ultimately think about several different things at a time. As an example, while she was paying attention to the people around her, she also noted that Yuji was doing the same and also smiling at the girls who passed. It was a start...

Then, all of a sudden Yuji got out of his chair and knelt on the ground. Val shifted her posture and looked at him in shock. What on earth was he doing??? Then he bowed down as if doing dogeza and asked if she would be his partner. But he asked it so loudly that it was obvious everyone in the cafeteria had heard, as many were staring at them now. Instantly, Val's face flushed red and coughed into her hand in embarrassment. The only thing which would have made this worse would be if he had gotten down on one knee... Nonetheless, it was still awkward and everyone was staring at them now. Val had to respond... On second thought, who cared what the others thought? Yuji seemed like a good guy, and she would rather be partners with him than with that jerk who knocked the door in or someone of that variety. Before responding, Val hesitated. She was trying to get rid of her blush before speaking, after all it was too awkward to be talking while she was still suffering from the initial shock of embarrassment. It didn't take more than a minute for her to regain her disposition.

"Ahem." she cleared her throat before speaking, "Aye, ah'd..." Once again, Val paused after dropping into a heavier Scottish accent in her embarrassment. Then, she continued, "I would love to be your partner, Yuji." she said finally, with a smile. This seemed to satisfy the people who had been staring at them, as they resumed eating and talking with each other. This, most of all, Val was relieved for as it meant that she didn't have that anxious feeling of people staring over her shoulder, waiting for her to make what they deemed the "right" decision. Though she didn't say this out loud, Val hoped that now that she had responded, Yuji would stand up because it was remarkably awkward to have someone bowing to you. Which was surprising; how anyone could refuse a dogeza request was beyond her, as this wasn't even fully that sort of request, but it still was near impossible to say "no". Not that she wanted to, of course. Not long ago, Val was worried that she wouldn't be able to find a partner and now here she was with someone asking her to be their partner.

Giota looked at Kohona, he shot her a smile then took another bite out of his apple. The other two apples in his arm, he kind of wondered what this school would be like, sure this was all cool and all, kishins, witches, him, meisters, and even Lord Death. But none of those were the reasons why he came here, he came to live his life the way he wanted. His life with his mom was like a circus, out of control and quite repetitive. His home with his dad was to boring, all his dad did was work in the lumber industry leaving Giota home alone.... Giota would be here if his Grade 10 teacher didn't say 'you'd be better off with death' Giota, the somewhat of an idiot he's, thought when the teacher said 'Death' she meant Lord Death, and since he was a weapon it all made sense.

Giota looked at Kohana when she said hello, he turned to her, putting his body straight, looking at Kohana and gave her a smirk "Hey" his canadian accent coming out a bit, making the 'e', sound like an 'a'. He nodded to her "Yeah my first year here... Came here after the house got to boring and a teacher said i'd be better off with Death... So here I am" he said shrugging a bit. "What about you?" he said as he finished one apple and moved onto the next one "Names, Giota Sickek"

Yuji had stopped hearing all the chatter in the cafeteria come a quite stop. Like when you click the pause button during a great movie. Except you didn't hear any laughs or anything like that for the matter. He just felt people stare at him it almost made him want to just faint right there on the spot. Well since he had never had that much attention on him at once. In fact it look liked Val was even surprised to how loud he was. He could hear it in her voice from the first time she had coughed to what seemed like just a simple clearing of the throat. But right now all that mattered was Val's answer if it was good how excited he would be, he might even just jump out of his current position and say some gleeful words. Some many thoughts had just begun to rush through Yuji's mind. If she said yes, then, they would begin the school year as the strongest pair. They would be undefeated, no matter the opponent they would kick a**. Maybe even before they knew it, Val would be a death scythe. HAHAHAHA, his mind was almost about to explode with cockiness this was his egotistical side coming out. Just like his idol black star. But if it was to be a tragic answer like no.. well Yuji would just have to move on and become stronger on his own for a while. Until he came across another that was as strong as she was. Yuji couldn't tell what it was but she just had a type of aura that would be-able to crush anything she thought was a bad opposition. Something almost like a manga, called Dragon ball Z where the hero would always conquer the enemy. No matter how much they got tattered and broken.. Never giving up. That type of resolve was great...Yuji had zoned out thinking about things like manga and resolve.

Before Yuji knew it, Val had started to talk a hearing her answer, it was a yes. Looking up at Val, Yuji smiled. But his eyes were closed. Looking back down as quickly as possibly he didn't want her to see him cry. For some reason, he was very emotional every since arriving at the academy. But the tears weren't of sadness, which was quite obvious. Yuji was just so happy, well cause this was actually a friend he made for himself. This would have to be his first real friend. Something like this was just to great for him to not show emotion. But he knew he wouldn't stop crying anytime soon, maybe in five minutes or so. Yuji had gone quite for a short while, until he looked up at her again. With eyes full of tears he got up and dusted himself off. Of what ever was on the floor, grabbing his chair, he pulled it close back to the table and sat down. Turing towards Val Yuji smiled the brightest smile he could pull out. "Thank you!" Yuji said, he couldn't believe what just happened. Yuji thought he should probably explain the tears along with the huge smile. "Im, terrible sorry Val, it's just that your the only friend I've ever made in my whole fifteen years of life" Yuji said, as the smile disappeared. This was something he didn't really like to say, well cause it made his life seem like a sad soap opera. That really just made it sound worse than it was. The only thing about it that was sad that he never tried to make a friend. Since he was always kept away from the outside world. He seemed to have a lot to learn about the outside world as he had just been born into the world like an infant.

Stopping the stream of sad thoughts. Yuji's eyes had dried up. Along with this the flow of chatter had become loud once again. Like a ensemble when changing dynamics during a mezzo forte, all leading up to the big dun-dun. It seemed that Val and Yuji's conversation was no longer standing out. But that was good, because Yuji had a special event in mind. He would like to see his new partners power. smiling at Val, Yuji put his right hand on her right shoulder. "Val, I would like to spar with you right now to get a jest of your strength... that is if you wouldn't mind" Yuji said as he let his hand fall from her shoulder. If she said yes, it would be great due to they would know how strong each of them were. Besides, Yuji wanted to offer this as a thanks to her, he felt himself changing in the works already. As if he had become emotionally stronger, something that would benefit him in the future for emotion also worked towards resolve. Something that would never break for him, cause he had one very big motivational push. To as great as Black✩Star himself. His brain seemed to be surprised as he never usually thought so bright, and openly about his emotion. What was it that was making him this way.. was it Val his new friend... Or the school. However he was still unsure, and for the time being he would just try and figure it out step by step. Along the way why not try and make a few friends, and kick some Witch butt. Yuji's head seemed to be so far into the clouds now that there was no way he could come back down to earth. Maybe it was for the better of him, he could be arrogant...however it might push off the people he would like to meet.

Coming back down to earth, (which was just his way of thinking being arrogant was bad!) he looked at Val and with a some-what happy disposition. "So, wadda' say?" asked the question about the sparring again. His eyes were at the maximum of brightness for him but were still dimmed like a lost dog, maybe this was just something that had become apart of him... like his wanting to be like Black✩Star the greatest Meister ever.

He hadn't had any friends all his life... It seemed quite sad to someone like Val who had always had enough friends to have someone to do something with. Then again, she didn't know him at all and for all she knew he was completely satisfied without any friends. But his excitement at having her accept his request gave her doubts about this. Still, he seemed like a nice fellow and that was good enough for Val. They would be spending at least the rest of their time at Shibusen together, and from what Val knew, most teams went on to do more together after their time at the Academy. This world was so weird and new... Valentine was still perplexed that she had even gotten herself into all of this. Less than a month ago, Val's plans were simply to enroll in a private school in Scotland and finish high school. Amazing how quickly things change, based upon new circumstances and the like. Heck, a week ago she thought that her life had magically turned into a manga or video game. Now, here she was, and everything was real. She really was going to spend her life as a weapon, slaying whatever foul creatures (still doesn't know jack about what life she has entered) and building strength and bonds!

Jesus, how manga can mess up a persons brain. Then, he mentioned something about sparring, and Val was brought back into reality. That's right... She was technically a weapon. Though she knew absolutely nothing about herself, not only would there be no way she could fight on par with a guy (sure, she was pretty bad a** for a girl, but a guy who has 15 centimeters and who knows how many kilos on her will win). Not only that... But sparring just seemed so barbaric. All fighting did, come to think of it. People have feelings, and it breaks Val's heart to hurt another person. Truthfully, throughout school Val had never gotten into any fights. Nobody did, in modern society. Aside from the occasional slap which everyone either gives or receives, Val had never really hit a person before, either. The worst was in video games. Heheh, video games. For some reason, Val has been able to literally blow people's heads off while laughing and none of that has made her more used to real-life violence. She still winces whenever she is walking down the street and sees a guy being beat up for one reason or another...

But on a separate note, Val couldn't bring herself to say "no" to him. He was so happy, and it would probably crush his spirit. Though his eyes were brighter, he still looked like a hurt puppy dog. Did she have any advantage over him? No. She would if she knew how to transform into a weapon, but she couldn't and as such she would be at a severe disadvantage, as he probably knew some variety of solo ability. If neither of them used any magical ability, then Val would still be at the disadvantage. Not only was there the height difference, but there was also the fact that Val had yet to "break 100" as it had always been referred to. In other words, both these things mean that she is ridiculously small. Not ridiculously, that is an improper word. But smaller than her mother and father, at 175 cm. and 180 cm. respectively, and smaller than many of her friends and colleagues. And definitely smaller than Yuji. Though she would seem weak, would it be more embarrassing to turn him down? No, the embarrassment would be equal. But what would be worse about turning him down would be the look on his face.

Val cracked her knuckled in a way which made her appear as though she was more experienced with fighting than she actually was (not purposefully, of course, but simply because her knuckles seemed as though they were stiff.) "...I will spar with you," she agreed simply as she stood up, "but I do not think it will be quite the best show of strength." The last part was added on so that he would not think, by any means, that she was strong at her current level. Valentine knew that she had a ways to go, and she also knew that until she could successfully transform into a weapon, all thoughts of winning any battles were beyond her. But video games had honed her reaction speed, and that might prove somewhat useful? At least for now. If Yuji still wanted to fight, and right here for some bizarre reason, then Val would set her bag down at the table (with it in sight, of course. Losing the bag means losing not only all her manga and video games, but also all her money) and would get the fight over with...

Kohana smiled and nodded at Giota " Kohana Remy ... " She stuck out her hand and with her other hand she started to make a gesture like she was trying to say something " My english isn't .... " she thought for a second and then looked at him with a smile " Good? Yeah...good. " She smiled and looked around, there were plenty of Meisters around and he decided to talk to her. She brouhgt her hand to her chest " My mother... 1st student? " She laughed, she started to feel like a fool. She sincerely looked at him and nodded, it was more then apparent that she was nervous " I'm sorry, I'm from France? " Everything that she said sounded like a question but she didn't mean for it to. Her heart started to race and that when she started to get even more nervous, every thought right at that moment started to race though her head and she started to think about everyone that asked her about her dad. She didn't want to be like her dad... ' Relax! ' her head screamed, but her heart beat a storm. On the outside, she looked reserved.
