Dietrich had, admittedly, been very out of touch lately. What with classes and the like keeping him busy he had completely forgotten the important things. But you know what? It's hard to forget about those things when an enormous figure caught his attention and made him come to a skidding and almost dangerous halt on his motorbike. What in the...
There it was again!
It took a quick swipe at his head to tell Dietrich that yes, this was what he thought it was, and he there was only one thing he could do. He revved his bike and sped away to park it somewhere safe, only to be followed the entire time. He gave a cry of surprise as his bike was knocked over and he was sent to the ground, still out in the middle of the street. Crap! "Ah...shoo! Go away!" He called out as he scrambled back up to his feet, ducking down as he was nearly attacked again. Well! That certainly didn't work!

Anthony Darrow was on edge. He knew he shouldn't have been surprised by all the strange things that were happening: this was Destiny City. Strange things made the day normal. It was a strange day when things were 'normal'.
If that made sense. Which it didn't. Which was fine.
Tony sighed. He was stressed because he wasn't sleeping, and every day was one of 'those' days. The ones where every little thing that could go wrong took the time to do so. Spilled coffee, toppled book stacks, computer break downs, tripping on nothing, Dogby leaving surprises in the apartment, and on top of all else, Nathan being strange and even more vexing than normal.
He was trying to not let it get to him.
He was walking back to the library, on a break and having picked up coffee at the nearest place because the coffee maker in the work room had broken. And he needed coffee. He heard the sounds of a motor bike and came to a pause, spotting the bike and then, of course, something strange.
"Oh!" he yelped, forgetting his irritation. He ran, as best he could, dropping his coffee as he went. He had his cane in hand, "hey, get down!" he yelled, stumbling as he skidded and swung his cane at the attacking creature. It swooped up into the sky, though it didn't want to stay gone long. It swung back and knocked right into him, sending him sprawling on top of the guy he was trying to help.

His next plan was going to be to take one of the books that had fallen out of his schoolbag when he crashed and chuck it at monster so he could run off and really fight this thing off properly. But before he could even reach for the book he heard a yell to get down, deciding that it would be the best idea to listen to it juuuust in case. And so Dietrich threw his arms over his head and ducked for whatever reason. He heard the thwack! of the cane and looked up to see the creature flying away. "...Is that it? Really?" He blinked and began to stand back up until suddenly it returned and shoved the other man back into him.
Dietrich hit the ground with a thud, finding himself pinned underneath the strange man who'd come to his aid. "Hey...are you oka--look out!" The creature was attempting to take advantage of the two men being on the ground, shoving the other guy off him and out of the way. Of course Dietrich followed right behind! He wasn't about to let himself be monster chow! He was quick to roll off the man to hop back up onto his feet, looking around quickly for some kind of weapon. They needed a weapon, something to get this thing away from them. It didn't look too tough, it was just large and had the upper hand of surprise and being able to fly! What would do best in this case? Long ranged, of course. But it had to be long ranged 'weapons' that they could obtain on the fly and be able to use over and over. Rocks? They were in the middle of the street, there were no rocks. His books! Those would do in a pinch though he really didn't want to wreck the books if they could help it; he needed those text books for school!
The cane! This man had a cane! Sure, they could certainly do better with something longer but for now? The cane would do. "Can I see that?" He asked as he went ahead and picked up the cane regardless of the answer he received, holding it like a baseball bat and swinging it at the creature as hard as he could. It shrieked and backed off enough to lift high into the air. Clearly, the monster wasn't done with them just yet...it looked angry.

Tony was nodding, saying he was okay, but he got cut off before the words could actually get out of his mouth by being suddenly pulled and pushed.
"Ahh!" he managed to say, instead.
He felt his back hit the ground, looking up at the young man on top of him in surprise and slight embarrassment. Who was helping whom? What was even going on right now? He had no idea, his mind spinning a bit from the hit and from being twirled around unexpectedly. He shut his eyes, taking a breath. He heard the guy asking for something and looked around, seeing his cane.
"Oh, yes, go ahead," he said, nodding furiously as he made to get himself to his feet slowly, and with some effort. The cane was made of metal, as they were very useful in this place, a lesson he had learned through experience. Fighting monsters? Metal canes certainly helped. And they didn't break like wood did.
He let out a cheer when the monster flew up and away, though it certainly wasn't going to stay gone. It circled above them, eying Dietrich and the cane he was carrying now. It swooped down and grabbed the cane, jerking its head as if to either pull it away from the human, or just take the human with it.

Dietrich was rather pleased this cane wasn't wooden, or else they would be in trouble. Wasting wood so cruelly, even if it was for a good cause right now, was a horrible thing to do! He reached down to help the man up now that he seemed to have temporarily chased off the bird monster. He knew it was only a matter of time before it came back; it was right there above them staring them down with a vicious glare. Dietrich swallowed hard and held the cane at the ready, standing at the ready...
Or...the monster could just take the damn thing! Crap! Dietrich's eyes widened and he held the cane as tightly as he could, tugging and pulling at it. "Hey! Let go!" He growled at the monster, swinging back and forth as he felt his feet leave the ground. Ohhhh no...nonono. Nooooo, no. This was a bad idea. What were his options? Let the bird keep the cane, or try to take it back while being lifted in the air.
...There really was no option. To be lifted too high would be stupid. Though he really didn't want to let the bird have their best weapon, he forced himself to let go and land on his feet before he was lifted too high. He sighed heavily and stared up at the monster. "Soooo...do you have anything else we can use?" He asked the man whose name he didn't even know, tossing some hair out of his face and turning his head so he could both look toward the man and keep a wary eye on the bird...thing. "Like, anything to thro--" He didn't get to finish the question, however. The monster had taken advantage of this window of opportunity to swoop down and smack him with the very cane he had attacked it with, knocking him to the ground.

Tony looked up to see the bird swooping down at them again, yelling in surprise and an effort to warn his unwitting battle partner. But the monster was much faster than the librarian, and he only managed a strangled sound of useless protest before Dietrich was introduced to the plan of the monster anyway.
"Ah, let go of it!" he yelled, hurrying over to help as best he could. And by 'help' he mostly meant 'jump and tackle Dietrich and hang on to him for dear life so neither of them went flying'. He didn't care about his cane: he would get another one. It wasn't like it was his first, and in this place it certainly wouldn't be the last.
When the young man released the cane, Tony nearly spilled them both to the floor with the sudden lack of bracing. He looked at Dietrich and shook his head, patting his own pockets as if he might find something useful to throw that he didn't know he had. He looked stunned when the younger man was knocked down.
"Look out!" He said, far too late considering. The monster had already hit the other. Tony ran at him and jumped, landing onto its back and tackling it to the ground. "Oh! s**t!" he yelped as it tried to turn and attack him. "Get the cane! Hit it!!" He could only hope Dietrich hadn't been hit too hard.

Owwwwww. Dietrich groaned and rubbed a bit at the back of his head as he got back up onto his feet, looking up to find the other man was on the monster now. Oh! But hey! He got it on the ground! He heard the clatter of metal bouncing and rolling along the road and immediately his gaze was on it, running straight to the cane and scooping it up in one swift motion. Once it was securely in his possession he spun on his heel to head back to run back to the other man and the monster. "Watch your head!" He warned him quickly, gripping the cane like a golf club as he ran up and swung it toward the monster's head with as much force as he could put behind it.
It hit with a loud CRACK and the monster let out a blood curdling shriek. Dietrich had been using his momentum to try and make the hit harder and continued past the monster, skidding to a halt and turning his heel again to make sure he'd really hit it.

Tony was horrified over his poor decision making skills in the middle of a fight. Honestly, how had he ever thought jumping on a flying monster was a good idea? Especially because these things could pick people up without a problem: one riding on its back probably wouldn't be a problem either, right?
But now that he was struggling to keep it pinned so it didn't do exactly that, Tony wasn't sure it was the right time to be wishing he could take back his last choice.
If he came to this situation again, maybe next time he would think it through a bit more.
So caught up in struggling with the monster, getting whapped by its wing and nearly being sent sprawling from on top of it, only to catch its arm and pin it again, a flurry of limbs, he had no time to look at Dietrich to see what he was up to. So when the monster was struck and starting screeching, Tony was mortified and leaped back in fright. He looked at Dietrich, a hand on his head, only now realizing he had even yelled a warning.
Good thing his aim had been better than Tony's ability to hear. The monster wasn't doing very well, wobbling and screeching, and the librarian snapped out of his daze enough to tackle it again, just in case, before it could fly off. "Hit it again!" he yelled, certain it would turn to dust (as youma did) with one more strong hit to its head.

Dietrich's priority was to make sure his impromptu partner was okay, hurrying over to him until Tony tackled the dazed monster again. What? Why was he d--oooh wait! That made perfect sense! Dietrich nodded and gripped the cane tighter, hoping hitting this thing too much wouldn't bend the cane. He broke out into another run right at the bird monster, bringing his arms back and then swinging them forward, aiming directly for the monster's head.
It hit with another sickening CRACK! and the monster gave an ear-piercing shriek that forced Dietrich to release the cane so he could cover his ears, wincing and stumbling back away from the monster. It screeched and cried and shrieked until suddenly it exploded into dust that blew away in the wind, its cry echoing and dying away as it was blown into non-existence. Dietrich dropped his hands when it was all over, panting and leaning forward with his hands on his knees. What a rush! "That...that was amazing!" He laughed breathlessly, pushing himself up to stand straight again as he walked over to Tony and reached down to help him up if he needed.
"Are you okay? Thanks for the help, by the way." Yeah, thanks for the help guy-whose-name-I-don't-even-know! Oops.

Tony shut his eyes tightly as the monster struggled valiantly against his hold, but it seemed unable to get away from him. That made Tony feel impossibly strong and useful, though in the back of his mind his skeptical side was telling him the monster had to just be weak. It didn't matter, anyway.
The monster let out its piercing screeches and Tony yelled in frustration because he didn't want to let go of it despite wanting to cover his ears.
And then it exploded into dust, and Tony hit the ground. A short drop, of course, but he was still stunned. He coughed on the dust, disgusted as he scrabbled away from it to get to his feet, wobbling.
He tried to dust himself off, hobbling on one leg, taking a deep breath and letting out a long sigh of relief. He looked at Dietrich, his expression still a bit stunned, but it seemed to sink in that they had killed the thing and his face split into a wide grin. He laughed, a hoot of one, thrilled, taking Dietrich's hand to get himself upright at last.
"I'm fine! I'm surprised we... I mean, I'm not surprised... well! We killed it! Ha!" He laughed, shaking his head and offering his hand again. this time for an introduction. "Anthony Darrow, by the way."

Good, the man seemed to be okay! Dietrich left him only to get the cane he had dropped and bring it back over to him, making sure he was stable on his feet before he did so of course. He was hobbling, so either he was just still a bit off-kilter from riding the monster...thing. "Glad to hear that!" He said when Tony answered to being fine, a grin on his face. Good, good. He'd been worried his impromptu fighting partner was hurt for a minute there! But the cane was there for a reason, right? He gave a laugh and nodded in agreement with him over killing the monster, and despite how tiring it was Dietrich would be lying if he said he wouldn't want to try it again. It was exhilarating! "And yeah, we did kill it! Cool." He laughed a bit, grinning as he took the offered hand for a shake.
"Nice to meet you, Anthony. I'm Dietrich St. George. This'll be one hell of a story to tell!" It was then that he seemed to realize something, letting go of Anthony's hand to whirl around and see his poor motorcycle laying on the ground. It was still okay..ish. The side was clearly dented and scratched, and one of the mirrors was..over there and not connected to the bike, and all his books were scattered throughout the street. Dietrich's face paled and his eyes widened. "My bike!" He cried in an extremely manly fashion. If your definition of manly is very loose, that is.
Dietrich ran over to his bike and picked it up with a grunt, kicking down the kickstand to give it a good look. Damnit! His biiiiiike!

"Definitely a story worth sharing," he laughed. He knew most of his encounters with youma were less successful than this one had been. Less successful in a 'completely embarrassing' kind of way, which did not good stories make. He didn't like talking about youma attacks or senshi or negaversers anyway, as he felt like some things should be kept secret.
But this? This was different.
They had killed one on their own, without any help from anyone! Granted, he had no idea just who had been his fighting partner, on the 'powered up' front, but that didn't matter to him right now. As far as he knew, the younger man was just as helpless in situations like these as Tony always felt, save once or twice. It was a great boost to his self confidence, for sure.
His excitement fell a bit, though, when he saw Dietrich run over to a fallen motorcycle, making a sound similar to someone who had just witnessed their dog get hit by a car. Or so Tony imagined. He hurried over, looking at the bike and frowned. He hoped it wasn't expensive...
"I'm sure you could... buff these scratches right off?" he said, leaning closer and running his hand over a plate that was particularly scratched. And it promptly fell off. "Ah! Oh, I'm... uh... I-I'm sorry."

It was, if anyone believed him. Hopefully no one would take it as him making up some totally outlandish tale like he often did when he didn't want to explain something. He had a feeling that was what the reactions he'd be getting would be. He was pretty proud of himself though! They'd beaten this thing with a cane, so either this monster wasn't very strong or they were just that amazing; Dietrich would like to stick with the latter.
But right now his focus was on his damaged bike, getting down on his knees and brushing his fingers over the scratches and dents. His pretty biiiike! His babyyyyy! He bit his lip and picked out a small rock that had embedded itself into a panel, looking up at Tony as he came over to assure him he could possibly just buff it out. True, he could do that. A bit of paint, some buffing...nothing seemed to be majorly damaged. It was a quick fix! This wasn't so ba--
...
...
.......
Dietrich stared with wide, horrified eyes and dropped jaw as part of the motorcycle fell off. He knew Tony meant no malicious intent, and he wasn't mad just...his baby was hurt. "It's...it's okay. I'll just walk it home...don't worry, I-I can fix it." He was just in shock right now. Give him time. Dietrich cleared his throat and stood up, rubbing the back of his neck with a little sigh, turning away from his bike to face Tony. "So, um, want me to walk you anywhere or something?" Dietrich wanted sure he got to wherever he was going safe and sound.

Tony felt like he had accidentally kicked a puppy. That belonged to a small, crippled child. Who had no parents. And it was the child's only source of happiness in the whole, dark, miserable world in which it struggled to survive.
A bit dramatic, but he couldn't help it, seeing Dietrich's shattered expression.
"I'm very sorry," he said again, though he didn't dare try and pick the piece up and put it back on the bike. He had no idea where it had come from, for one, or how it was meant to attach. And for another thing, he certainly could not risk doing further damage. He didn't want to make anyone cry today, particularly following that awesome display of manliness they had shared in killing that bird monster.
Still, the guilt was crushing.
"Are you sure? I can... I can pay... for... something? I mean, if you need new parts? Like... uh... that one..." he motioned to the thing he now blamed himself for breaking, though it was likely broken before he touched it. He shook his head at the offer. "I ah, don't live far. I'd rather see your bike home safe."

Dietrich was murmuring to his bike, things like "It's okay, I'll get you fixed." "I'm so sorry." "Don't worry, it'll be okay." You know, things you'd..say to a hurt pet. When Tony apologized again he turned a small sheepish smile up to the man, shaking his head and sighing. He wasn't going to cry but...damn. "Nah it's...it's not your fault. Stupid bird thing. I'll just find someone who can fix it, check it out and stuff..." Damn, hopefully it wouldn't cost too much. Maybe he could fix it himself? No, no..he didn't want to risk damaging it further or something. Dietrich would get a professional.
Ugh. His bike. Whyyyyy!
When Tony offered to pay for it or something Dietrich shook his head again, standing up and ruffling his own hair a bit. "Nah, it's fine. Don't worry about it. Not like it's your fault." If he insisted he probably wouldn't stop him, but he wasn't going to make Tony pay for this. If anyone would be paying for the repairs it should be the monster they just killed. Stupid thing. Oh well, at least he avenged his bike by killing the damn thing. "I'll just walk it home. I'm definitely not riding it until it's fixed. Sure you'll be okay on your own?" He didn't know how far 'not far' was. If Tony was sure he'd be okay then Dietrich would just continue right on home by himself.
