Hey there everyone! YUP, it's me making the poll today, not Celeste! I come bearing important news over the potential direction of the guild's future! I BET YOU'RE EXCITED RIGHT I KNOW YOU ARE OKAY LET'S GET ON WITH IT Now, before we spread our wings and fly off into the realms of what may be, let's examine where we are now. As you guys know I'm not really able to devote time to the guild like I used to. There are a couple of reasons for this, but mainly it's due to the fact that I'm pretty much overwhelmed with the work the guild involves. What I really would like is to see it in some form of completion and stability, I guess. Up until now it always has been - and still is - a WIP as I keep changing things and exploring formulas and aiming higher. But the problem is that I've been doing it by myself all along, and it just became way too much, and in trying to make everything awesome for you guys I just ended up hurting myself! Many of my plans couldn't come to fruition, at first because of so many people I asked for help bailing on me and finally my own unwillingness to continue. It felt like, and still feels like, I've taken the guild in its current format as far as I can. But that doesn't have to be the way things are.The guild can still be a hobby for me, and it can still be a hangout for all of us. It still is, and it always has been. There are just a few loose ends which would really help if they were tied up and a couple of big changes to help tie these up that I'd like to propose. I think these would give us all some peace and satisfaction after so much uncertainty! SO ON TO TODAY'S PROPOSALS

Firstly:The roleplay - and this is the big one I want to talk to you about today, so let's get it over with. Ever since its inception the roleplay has been a soul-sucking drain on me and my workforce. Now, everyone loves their characters, and everyone loves what we've done so far. We've made something really amazing with our combined powers of writing. However, lately things have been pretty dead, and I know it's because everyone's busy, but there's still a LOT of pressure to make advancement throughout the bigger picture of the plot. I propose removing this pressure. I propose condensing the roleplay into a simpler format which will make it easier for everyone. I propose cutting all of the complexity and the loose ends caused by people dropping out or changing their minds. It should help those of you who have approached me wanting to change their character designs or backstories in a way that was rendered impossible by the current format. I propose an RP REBOOT!What would this entail?
1. The current storyline and everything that has happened wouldn't be FORGOTTEN, per se. I would consider it more like an advanced version of the current story where certain things happened, but certain things didn't. For example, you could potentially reshape your character by cutting out events which changed them, essentially "stripping" them of their baggage if you wanted.
FOR EXAMPLE, certain changes could occur:
I'm now an edgier instructor without so many bottled up issues, something of an amalgam of the personalities of Jessie and Gloria. Also I'm no longer a god damn pirate, bel'la yah.
I'm really a penguin now!! QUACK QUACK~~
Oh, I'm still a devilish little minx, but with the addition of a successful career as a Las Vegas Showgirl! MUAHAHAAHAHAOHOHOHO! Ahhh... still have a penchant for evil laughter, as you can see. ;3
And I'm her lesbian dominatrix. Yes, you heard me correctly.
I'm still the boy genius you all know and love. But now I've got a pair of rollerskates.

And so much more. THESE ARE JUST A FEW OF THE MANY (probably more sensible) POSSIBILITIES~
2. Depending on the desires of you guys - the users - the time progression could be made more or less lenient. Since there are so many lulls in the activity and nobody takes advantage of the ability to make their own thread with another person and have it counted in the canon, you COULD potentially move away from the time frame or move on when you yourself desired rather than waiting for things to change. The whole goal is to make it more flexible and self-sustaining, rather than me stepping in and having to do everything manually and poke things along myself.
3. The combat system, which confused so many, could be removed entirely if desired, or also reformed in a stripped-down version.
And since this is all being done in the eyes of you guys, you can have more say in what happens by posting in this thread!
If you're afraid of what the "reboot" may mean - well, look at online comics which, after a period of progression by the artist, undergo redos and makeovers on the earlier chapters? Some things change, some things stay the same. Characters are tweaked, designs are tweaked. It's all just paving stones on the quest for perfection!~
What if we can't reach a decision and don't have the numbers interested in trying a rebooted version of the rp?
Then I may have to consider shutting the rp down entirely, because I simply cannot cope with the workload. If you guys are okay with this happening, do say so, but I feel it would be something of a shame after the AMAZING story we made together. There's nothing more unique anywhere else on the internet, and I'm still very proud of what we achieved.
Why does there have to be scary, scary change at all? ;___;
The guild, and the rp, are just like a business models, really. If the model isnt working the savvy businessperson changes it. Know what I mean? You dont just keep plugging the same old shtick just because. So since the current format is stagnating, I'd like to present the opportunity for us all to change it... together. heart

Actually, until we know for sure what's happening with the rp, this is the only definite thing I have on my list.
Unless any of you guys can remember stuff that I meant to do but never did!! Post below to give me a job if so, or suggest whole new threads you think would be useful!
EDIT: I remembered a couple:
2. Redo the affiliates thread.
3. I was also going to reassess the roles of the different subforums and jiggle around the content/add new stickied threads/take obsolete ones away. Really, TBO is just in a constant flux of spring cleaning O_O HOPEFULLY IT WILL CEASE TO BE SO SOON ENOUGH
EDITEDIT: Something I found in the Announcement archives:
4. The rather neglected Clam Ballot forum will eventually be converted into a suggestions, opinions AND information forum, thus injecting it with newfound purpose and a brand new lease of life.
There might be a reshuffling of the subforum purposes.

I think that a time skip forward a year or two to present would be an amazing change... We could all write quick little descriptions as to what's happened from our character's point of veiw, show how it's changed them, and continue on into something a little less... waiting for weeks for a reply :/

Or accomplish much the same thing, but in months. Perhaps to when Jessie/Cressa/Lua get back, or maybe the middle of the next summer?
I support the shifty timeframe idea, being stuck in the here-and-now forces a person to wait for somebody else
As for the combat system....the current overhaul is flopping majorly, but wasn't it kind of required for the second event?
Yes to the altering of backstories. I'm only speaking for myself, but I've made a few inconsistencies here and there that could use cleaning out
And frankly, I'd all but forgotten about the new-thread-is-canon rule. I might have to use that

If we do this, you'll be able to make any backstory or character alterations you want - I need to do some too, we have a lot of inconsistencies. There'll also be some changes to the canon and what went on - not major, mainly removing things that flopped, perhaps toning down some of the drama, wiping out a few NPCs, canon of the first event may be changed, and I don't believe there'll be a second event or a third chapter anymore. It is in a sense making a clean break into a new direction, whilst drawing inspiration from the past.
And I'm glad that this is garnering so much enthusiasm so far. I think we can all agree that the way things are now, things are stagnating. It was almost more fun and active when people could choose the timeframe they wanted and it all wove into a bigger picture. I've actually seen a lot of other rps fail because they have to sit around waiting for people. It loses momentum, and everyone loses interest.

I like the idea of a timeskip, but like Storm and Mab said, we'd need to each do follow-ups for our characters so they aren't left in the dust. But since this is cool, this shouldn't be much of an issue.
Another concern of mine would be the ball and the current plot of the story. Would we toss it out altogether or just timeskip and fill in the blanks?
I can't really think of anything else at the moment...maybe I'll post more things later if I think of stuff.
One thing's for sure, I DEFINITELY don't want to see the rp go. We've all done such a great job to make it what it is, and to put it simply, it's gotten too epic to toss out! I'd cry! 3=

I plan to definitely develop Alexi, Sven, and Mirassou more, and eventually introduce Ryu (he's popped in here a few times prematurely XD).
What about various other people's parts with the Ball? I feel bad for not giving a lot of people the chance to do stuff (dumb schoolwork kept pushing my posts with Mirassou back and back and further back... stare )

Considering that there's no longer a storyline to follow, NPCs to carry the story along are no longer needed, aren't they?

Bapp Pogum I would be lying if I said I wasn't waiting for something like this to happen, but must there still be so many NPC characters (or, well, characters in general)? Considering that there's no longer a storyline to follow, NPCs to carry the story along are no longer needed, aren't they? Yes, there will be a cutback on NPCs who are no longer necessary. However, what do you mean by "characters in general?" People need characters to play. You can't roleplay without roles. Just because you can't keep up with who's who and who's doing what and who's related to whom because you don't pay enough attention doesn't mean everyone else should suffer for it. I've got no plans to introduce a character limit, and people can still make as many "supporting" NPCs as they like to help flesh out their character's world. (E.g Julian and Nester and the mother - Mab, the bandmates and the witch - TRG) And yes, perhaps it was only a matter of time, as only a fool keeps plugging the same tried and tested ways when they're no longer relevant ^^

I just had an idea, you guys! How about the rebooted rp takes place AFTER the three chapters we're currently working our way through? ^^ The original storyline wouldn't be lost and most everything it had been building towards would still be relevant.
