The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Mirror.
This Fanfiction (though very short and poorly written) has inspired me greatly and been rotting on my laptop unfinished...Mostly because I have such ideas for it, and the amount of writing required is phenomenal...So I stopped writing...

Upon reading this Zelda fanfiction (which establishes the 'Link+Zelda' relationship so perfectly). I am inspired to write again...Which poses a difficult problem for me because of the length required. I shall either start from scratch, or keep going and change some things. Either way, I realize that it simply wont be completed if I don't have fans wanting to read whatever I happen to type. As we have all become pretty close, I want to share this with all you guild members. ♥

~~~ Please don't post because if you guys like I hope to add more. :3
Ps: I am always willing to have any story or fanfiction become an rp if someone is willing to one x one to one plot idea or based off of the map. (which I am putting in another post)
In this fanfiction, I decided to incorportate multiple Zelda games. (You Zelda Fans will probably look at my map and giggle. I'll give you a cookie if you can name all the games I used outside of just the map design.)
So yeah...Just PM me your comments...even if its short or negative, I don' care.
Oh yeah! This rp was also inspired by the movie: First Knight.
(I kept watching it over and over while writing it, so the poor themed quality might have something to do with that. I wasn't trying to just capture the feel of the Zelda games, I was trying to capture the feel of that movie as well.)
The small portion I wrote down...Take note that this story is based right after the end of: A Link to the Past. (except I edited things a bit)
      xxxAs the hour of twilight settled upon Hyrule, warm kisses of purple and orange from the sun cast a mournful glow on the land. To be honest, it held a certain beauty that enraptured me. Unlike contrary belief, my favourite time of day was just after sunset. When the trees turned black and the stars started to come out. Soon, it would be that time again; and for the first time…I dreaded it.
      xxxTonight was the eve of a grand celebration called the Carnival of Time. It celebrated the triumphs of a hero who was worthy of wielding a sacred relic called the Master Sword and used it to vanquish evil and save seven sages from certain death. I was one of the sages stolen and imprisoned in a crystal in order for a dark wizard named Aghanim to break the age-old seal between this world and another dimension. If not for a hero named Link, who both rescued me and saved my people; Hyrule…might not even exist right now, and my father, King Nathaniel Delevega Hyrule…would certainly be dead.
      xxxIn its fourth celebrated year, the one who had saved us all had asked for only one thing from my father. Perhaps his own failures at protecting this country was what convinced my father to accept, but the reason why remains to be seen. The fact was that he had said yes to this man’s request and knowing my father, he would have given him half of the entire kingdom for saving Hyrule. But, he didn’t ask for half of the kingdom. He asked for my hand in matrimony, and the ceremony was tomorrow.
      xxxStaring out a hall window at the remaining glimmers of the sun was my only comfort, though not for lack of interest in my future partner. Link was a wonderful man, kind and quiet in all his mannerisms (except when there was a sword in his hand). About to be lost in thoughts once more, the sounds of footsteps on the rug behind me distracted my attention from the window. It was father.
      Here is my darling daughter. Hiding in this old room?” His aged laugh was impossibly cheerful. I could not help but smile.
      Only to watch the sunset father.“ He did not seem convinced, and if possible his eyes grew even more suspect.
      It is alright to be on ones own from time to time, but not as a permanent residence. ” Father paused before continuing. “ Zelda, I am not going to live much longer, and it is my wish to see you happy and cared for.I know that father…Looking down at the floor to avoid eye contact, I breathed a sigh of understanding and bowed a curtsy in submission. Thinking as a queen would, I added:
      If this man can save Hyrule entirely on his own, surely he is capable of protecting me.”, Father’s expression I could not see, but based on how he stood tall and let out a joyous chuckle, it was my belief that he was pleased with my answer.
      I sincerely believe so, but that is up to you.”, standing upright, his words comforted me enough to be able to look him in the eye in preparation for whatever father was about to ask.
      Do you want to marry Link?” It was a serious question, and father expected a serious answer. A truthful answer. One could muster the truth easily if it meant hurting no one, including one’s self, but to answer father right away would only be dishonest. Truth was, I did love Link in a manner fit for husband and wife; but, that love had always been felt at a distance. To be his wife required intimacy and sharing. It would take only a tiny bit of prodding to give my heart to him completely, and I feared…
      Zelda?” My eyes shot upwards from the floor to look back at my father, who appeared worried in all his looks. Letting out a laugh, my smile reassured him enough to repeat the question. Knowing he was going to do so the second his lips moved; I spoke: “ Yes. Yes I do, all that effects me is pre-wedding jitters. ” A booming smile shined from within the confines of his beard, joy overtaking him.
      Ah! See, I shall live to see you happy.” Father began to leave the room before muttering quietly to himself: ‘ And perhaps see some grandchildren’, which I was unfortunate enough to hear. He expects us to procreate so soon? My eyes widened as my father left the room to let me marinate on the subject.
      ~
      xxxMeanwhile, just south of the castle past the moat stood a small house surrounded by a cluster of trees. A trail of smoke gently rising from the tops of a brick chimney. Cozy; picturesque even, and inside stood a young man clad in a green tunic, admiring the last light bathing the trees through another window.
      xxxAs the trees became black, his eyes remained fixated upon the gold lining the branches of the trees. Nightfall had come, and soon Hyrule would be swallowed by it. Thinking back, as a child Link loved the daytime the most. A nice sunny day could bring him out of nearly any sort of slump that befell him…but like most things about the man, he supposed that was just another part of himself that adventure had changed. Staring out the window waiting for the night to swallow the land, it was the only thing in the past sixteen months that had given him any great thrill or excitement. The night made everything different and unknown, and in some small way, as though it needed saving again. Until the dawn came, and Link had to wait another day for the night to once again greet him.
      xxxLooking away from the window just as a nightingale began to sing its song, it suddenly became to painful to look out into the night. Like I need to be teased. There are no more evils in Hyrule. Upon defeating Ganon and touching the golden power known as the Triforce, it disappeared. Only a bright light shined boldly for the longest time, and when it dissipated every evil had been erased. If not for his own memory, there would be no proof that Hyrule had ever been on the brink of death.
      xxxExcept one.
      xxxUpon saving Hyrule by defeating Ganon, the King of Hyrule requested a meeting with Link. Ha, and out of the blue asked if there was anything he wanted as a gift for risking his life. How does one answer such a question? It wasn’t like it was not what I wanted, I loved every minute of my adventure, I did not need a reward…But how do you turn down a King? Link must have spent an awkward three minutes trying to find the words to humbly decline when he caught a glimpse in the corner of his eye and turned his head ever-so-slightly to glance out the window. The color was Zelda, walking around the courtyard admiring roses. If something showed in Link's eye, he had not meant to display it; but, the King saw it regardless and the next thing Link heard was:
      It is settled then.”, Which caught Link entirely by surprise, and he tore his head from the window, about to ask him what he meant when the King answered it for him.
      You shall marry my daughter.” The shock was undeniably evident on Link’s face, but the King just laughed it off…followed by a rather unsettling coughing fit. Had the king not coughed, Link would have probably tried to decline, but there was something amuck that the King had not told his people. Glancing at the window Link wondered if Zelda knew about it herself. The King was dying.
      xxxThe bad air stirred up from atop of Death mountain had been the source for many an illness before the Triforce cured the problem; however, it seemed that the progression of the King’s illness had reached a point where even pure air and sunshine could not cure it. Him still being alive after so many months continued to plague Link. He must be drinking potions constantly.
      xxxIn that day, Link knew that the King needed to see his daughter settled, and Link could not turn down a King’s dying request. In the past sixteen months, there were plenty of times to peruse the matter from the Kings point of view. In his mind, there was no one better suited to be King after he passed on, and though Link hated to admit it, the King was right.
      xxxGlancing out the window, Link had made his peace with the call of the night. Tomorrow he would be married, and Link couldn’t keep longing for the past to be rekindled or a new quest to begin. Walking away from the window, Link kicked off his boots and stared at the little gift package from the King, which was no doubt an elaborate tunic for tomorrow, before flopping down on his bed and staring up at the ceiling. Sleep would not come, he knew that much, but perhaps a nap might be possible for a wandering soul.
      ~
      xxxHours later the sun stood high in the heavens. Although it’s rays were masked with a carpet of clouds, the gloomy atmosphere did not seem to dampen the spirit of the festival. The princess and hero are to be wed today, and it seemed that no amount of grey skies could change the appeal. If anything it seemed to enhance it. Marta, the wife of one of my chamber guards even commented earlier:
      The sky outside seems to mirror your gown Princess.”, As she was helping me to tie the strings of my undergarment, I said nothing. Although it looked naught but six in the morning outside my window, it was actually closer to noon. My nerves must have known the time subconsciously, because whenever I looked at the clock in my chamber my body trembled. If my helpers noticed, they said nothing, and probably just blamed it on pre-wedding jitters.
      xxxMarta had just finished clasping the white cape to the shoulders of my gown when she began to speak, a smile waxed on her face and a bellowing voice enhancing the undeniable sparkle in her eye. I am glad Marta is happy about my marrying…Admitting it to myself, I was happy too; but, other thoughts kept me from the pure joy Marta seemed to be feeling.
      You know, I was Nervous on my wedding day.” I smiled politely, gently applying a tiny bit of powder to my face with a small brush as Marta continued her tale.
      Me and Alford were arranged as well, but with a bit of time we warmed up to each other. Its quite the comical story actually, we couldn‘t stand each other.” The bright light behind Marta’s eyes highlighted her bountiful laughter. My hair had already been brushed and pulled back but for two long locks framing the sides of my face. Keeping my hair down was of my own desire. Had Marta her way she would have done an elaborate pinned-up style and as she mused over the idea of me wearing my hair down -based on the pursing of her lips- she gently ran a comb through the ends of my hair once more. The laughter having not yet left her eyes.
      You have no need to be nervous princess, My own wedding night did not happen until many months after the wedding. So do not blame yourself if things do not…” She struggled for the words, and I was blessed with a sinking feeling; prediction, of what she would say afterwards…
      Run smoothly, tonight.” Another large, motherly, smile lit up her face and the sinking feeling in my stomach only increased. Oh no, she’s going to say it…
      Course with your pretty face I don‘t think you‘ll have any trouble.” Contrary to popular belief, being right was not always an enjoyment, and I bit my lip to keep from cringing. A bitter pill to swallow, joy of joys. Hiding a mental laugh, all I could manage to say was a simple ‘thank you’ in my quiet voice as my eyes remained focused on the reflection of myself within my nightstand mirror. At my beauty regimen being complete, Marta let out a delighted sigh.
      As spectacular as the moon herself.” Marta exclaimed as she reached for a small silver mask meant to symbolize the moon. As I wore a necklace-like crown of white metal that resided atop my forehead, the mask hooked onto the crown to complete my bridal visage. In celebrating two aspects of time: the sun and the moon, it had been incorporated into my wedding, and as I feared, might soon become custom if everyone loved the theme. Glancing out the window at the cloudy skies, I wondered if Link thought his wedding clothes were ridiculous.
      Thank you.” Was all I could say; even if I answered mechanically. Marta laughed and paced towards the wooden chamber door. “ Milady, I had best be off to enjoy the festivities with my family. Can you manage well on your own?” What a question…
      Yes, Marta. I appreciate your assistance today, and your comfort. Enjoy the day.” My face lit up with the gentlest smile I could muster.
      Aye, and you too Princess.” Regardless of how many times I asked her, she refused to call me Zelda. Perhaps it was keeping with rank, but it should not be a great suffering to my rank if no one else was present. Glancing at the clock, the hour was close to noon. It would not be long until the wedding took place, and standing up to view my entire body in my looking-glass, I smoothed out the long fabric of my gown. I do certainly appear stunning, perhaps Marta is right…I hoped, more than believed myself.
      xxxThirty minutes I waited, sitting atop of my bed, for my father to come and escort me to the main foyer of the castle which had been elaborately decorated for the occasion. When Marta had left, I only thought to be kept waiting for ten minutes. Thirty was a serious problem, and as the hands of the clock kept ticking, my heart sank as a pinprick throbbed in my chest. I may be worried, doubtful even, but I did…hope…to be married today. The sinking feeling only increased in admitting that I had the desire to wed Link. I thought he asked for my hand…is he now to stand me up? Fearing the worst, my body began to tremble and shake.
      xxxBeing alone in my chambers was pure ecstasy at this point, not having to hide my emotions from anyone. Not yet did I weep, but if uncontrolled tears could start to form in my eyes. If he changed his mind, why couldn’t he have said so before the wedding? All I shall hear of this day and the days to come is how everyone pities me. I just stopped hearing apologies of my mother’s death, and that was over fifteen years ago…The long agony of possibilities which might take place if Link dared not show vexed me, and my stomach groaned ill in protest.
      xxxThe moment when I debated whether I had need of a chamber pot to vomit into, there was a great knock upon the door. Thank the stars, he’s late. Immediately my legs found their footing on the carpet just as the door opened slightly and a nose poked around the corner. Recognizing the face immediately, my heart rejoiced at seeming my father’s face peek to see if I was inside. His smile was unmistakable.
      Oh Zelda…”, His eyes were enraptured. “ You look just like your mother.” A compliment dear to me in a way only my heart could treasure. My mother, I was told, was a very beautiful woman. Bending slightly in a curtsy, my father skipped the formalities and brought me into his arms so suddenly that it took a great deal of effort to breathe. Unable to speak, father did so.
      Already a queen, my dear little daughter is not a child anymore.” For a moment, it looked as if he would cry, but no tears fell from his watery eyes. Only joy overflowed from his face as the embrace was returned and parted; his grin only growing ear-to-ear at seeing me dressed so. It was not my mothers wedding gown, but it was close enough in style to please my father.
      That boy of yours- I cringed at hearing the possessive quality of his sentence.Came in through a secret passage drenched in water. Whoever told him of that passage I‘ll never know,Oh dear, I did. But from what I have been told they spent the last forty minutes drying out those leather boots he simply refuses to throw away.” I let out a giggle, knowing that it was certainly Link who would wear his Pegasus boots everywhere. Figures he would want to wear them today. What is he planning on doing? Running away? My eyes must have widened, because father noticed it.
      Is something wrong?”, My laugh was heartily felt, but not very convincing. Glancing towards the looking glass once more to smooth out my gown in my search to delay time to come up with an answer, I noticed one glove was loose which was quickly adjusted.
      No, father. I was only musing whether he wished to use those boots during the ceremony to flee the scene.” My father laughed whole-heartedly at this development, which only made my father’s next joke all the more startling.
      Or it could be to whisk you away afterwards.” Not a charming subject to discuss with one’s father. My stomach churned again, and my cringe only made him bellow a laugh once more.
      A mere teasing, dear; shall we?” Father held out his arm; which I knew must be accepted. A moments hesitation lasted an eternity in my heart before I locked my arm around my father’s and we left the royal chambers together. With my strut purposefully slow, a five minute walk took over ten minutes. The entire time spent wondering questions such as: Will he gaze tenderly at me when I walk the aisle? Stand rigid and business-like; Will he avoid speaking to me, or worse, show interest in me and compliment me? Such thoughts vexed me as I stood behind the door which would be opened for me and my father when the music started.
      xxxDreading that moment completely, it was nearly impossible not to cringe when the pretty music serenaded through the door. Oh no. Quite unlike taking any dangerous plunges as Link must have on his great adventure, it produced the same effect as one, and my legs began to wobble beneath me; my body trembling from anxiety. With a gentle sweep, which comforted me, the door was opened and I stared out at the enormity of the guests presently standing on ground floor. All apparently enraptured by me given the enormity of the amount of gasps I could hear as we walked forward towards the stairs. Oh no…stairs. Not good for my wobbly legs. Praying a quick prayer to Farore for courage, I found some strength in my legs and together my father and I made it to the ground floor.
      xxxOnly then, at being fully confident that I would not stumble and embarrass myself; was I brave enough to lift my eyes from the ground and stare past the aisle at my future husband. Link was looking at me, holding his hands together and standing erect beside the newly appointed priest. Wearing a red tunic, embroidered with gold and orange to fit his part, his own mask resembled the sun. So I could not view his expression. Remembering the question I had perused over earlier, the confirmation of the word ’rigid’ answered my earlier question and I took a deep breath when my father and I reached the spot beside Link’s own.
      xxxTaking up my gloved right hand in his own, my father bent to kiss the back of it before turning his body towards Link and gently placing it in Link’s left hand. Facing each other, Link’s grey-blue eyes stared at me through the golden mask, and in sharing eye-contact it seemed that he appeared nervous as well. As father took his seat at the front, the priest approached us; tying a blue and gold embroidered string around our joined arms; allowing the fabric to dangle. In Hyrule, weddings were done magically, and no rings were worn.
      The priest, Friedrich, began to speak in an ancient hylian dialect. I understood some of the words, but to comprehend everything fully would require the Book of Mudora, which I obviously could not carry with me. Gazing down at an old leather parchment as he spoke, the priest continued speaking the language that sounded like water droplets.
      xxxUnable to continue holding eye-contact with Link without blushing beneath my mask, I lowered my chin to admire the pretty string wrapped around our forearms. Out of the corner of my eye, Link did the same, and together stared in amazement when the string began to disappear in a dust-like array of light. The scene was very beautiful, and I let out a quiet gasp. Hearing it, for some reason, Link squeezed my hand and the excitement it caused my body created a flush on my face that burned beneath my mask. Biting my lip, I allowed my mind to settle upon thoughts of cold winters in the hopes of cooling the rose on my face.
      xxxSpeaking the final words, Friedrich kept his eyes on the little book in his hand. Unlike before, Zelda could fully grasp every word of the declaration. Under the light of the Triforce, may your lights shine together. That was the part everyone knew, and as the priest closed the book, Friedrich leaned in and whispered between us:
      If you do not want to kiss you don‘t have to, its not customary, but at least turn around and raise your arms together.” Friedrich was very kind in the suggestion, and as Link and I turned to face each other, I gently unhinged my mask and held it out towards Link in exchange. The blush must have withered from my face, because Link’s eyes did not widen or show that he noticed anything peculiar. He only removed his sun mask and held it out to me.
      xxxExchanging masks, I held his sun mask to my stomach as casually as possible as we turned to face the crowd. Link lifted up our hands and the audience stood up and briefly clapped before talking amongst themselves and heading out to the courtyard; where a banquet had been prepared.
      xxxAt our hands still clasped together, the beginnings of a blush began to form upon my face. Which could not be bourne, so I immediately relinquished his hand and clutched my hands together. Not holding my chin high enough to see his face out a desire to appear appropriate, I saw Link’s hand begin to reach for mine after I had let go of his, before going down to his side when I held my hands together. Did he want to keep holding my hand? My face reddened at the thought. Seeing my father approaching where we stood tohether, I turned my head to avert my gaze and hopefully hide my unease.
      xxxJoy of joys!” Said he, a hand upon both of our shoulders in congratulations.
      This union brings me great joy in my old age. Now go, run along and play.Lovely delineation father. At this, to my great despair, Father left us alone together as he walked outside towards the banquet to mingle with guests from Kikariko village outside the front door. With no one else nearby but the priest, who was taking his leave, I felt obligated to look up at Link and speak to him. We are married after all…
      xxxUpon looking up and gazing into his eyes, his own gaze became determined and focused. What is he doing? Seeing his hand lift from his side to my chin, my eyes widened. Oh Din, he’s going to kiss me. Seeing him swallow and bite his lip in thought for a few seconds only confirmed my previous thought. The very air in my lungs stole out of me, I stood motionless as a statue in suspense. However, before he leaned close enough to start to kiss me, Link then moved aside; clearing his throat to break the awkward spell. Oh my goodness, I can’t believe he tried to do that! Link had his eyes fixed upon me, perhaps in awe of how stunned I must appear. He laughed and clasped his hand around my own.
      Princess, you can breathe now, your starting to turn blue…” Embarrassed, my face compensated by turning red. Knowing if I were to speak I would waver and my trembling would be known, I simply nodded with an ‘mmhmmm’ that wavered in tone whether I wanted it to or not. He smiled a devastating half-grin and the strength in my knees began to drain. It didn’t matter that he wasn’t classically handsome, his hawk eyes ran shivers down my spine and…Oh no…I covered my chest with my free arm.
      Are you hungry?” Link asked me as he began to take a step in the direction of the courtyard. Gasping almost silently, his hold on my hand began to run shivers down my spine as well as weaken my knees. If I don’t stop touching him, I’ll fall over.
      xxxResolved to pull my hand away, a small tug was all I was able to accomplish before Link’s calloused hand squeezed my own more tightly. I was hungry, and my stomach quivering proved it, but dining in front of so many people unnerved me. Not since my childhood had there been such a great party in the castle which required my attention.
      Yes…but…” Link tilted his head in perplexion at my hesitation. Seeing as how I must reply, I took a breath and continued. “ I usually take my meals alone…such a crowd watching one eat is rather unnerving.” I bit my tongue to keep from cringing. Oh how foolish did that sound? The bravest man I know besides father, and I admit to him my cowardice, how foolish of me. Thinking of changing the wording, I opened my mouth to comment when Link spoke before I could muster.
      Eating alone is generally better, it gives you the time to eat as slowly or as quickly as one wishes to.” It was true in my own heart, so I said nothing.
      But its not good to always be on ones own-” The undeniable déjà vu of father’s advice the previous day flooded my mind. Link tilted his head towards the open castle doors before holding up one arm as if to escort me. “ Besides…” He smiled in a rigid manner. “ It would be best to sit together…if for appearances only.
      xxxFor some reason Link’s rigid response irked me, but it lasted but a moment before melting away. Perhaps it was due to his own uneasiness at being a husband now. Taking his arm, we walked down the carpeted isle towards the outer door where a festival and banquet had been prepared, only to be bombarded with miniscule bits of white paper overhead by (upon looking up) none other than Marta as the crowd cheered and wished us joy. At the attention my face flushed, and looking to Link, the man was all smiles and laughter as he gripped my hand and continued to lead me towards the banquet tables.
      xxxIt was strange almost, but it did not occur to me until later in my room, how joyful he was around others compared to his rigid manner before we stood before the crowd. At the moment, however, I laughed joyously; his laughter was rare and infectious.
      xxxUpon nearing the tables, my father smiled and nodded his head towards a canopied table that was half hidden beside a booth selling jelly-filled cookie-like tarts called moon cakes. As we passed, the aroma from the freshly-baked goodies filled our nostrils, and out of the corner of my eye, I believe we both turned our head to survey the selection.
      Would you like one?”, Having been so distracted, Link’s voice had startled me. He had one brow raised in question, his hand hovering in mid-air over his coin bag. I blinked a moment, unsure what to say. Yes, they did look tasty, but at the present time; from being so nervous during the ceremony, my appetite had yet to revive itself. Not having noticed his hand beside his coin bag, I nodded and reached for where a usual pocket in my gown was that always held a few coins; however, before I could realize that my wedding dress had no pockets, he pulled a red rupee from his coin bag and began to hand it to the baker. His hawk eyes tense and narrowed as if he had very nearly been offended.
      Two please.” Link said, only to receive a laugh from the baker who began to wrap two blackberry moon cakes in a clean napkin-cloth and fold the cloth over to form a bag around them.
      Oh please,” the baker had a peculiar accent. “ The bride and groom should not have to pay for treats. Enjoy them and be merry.” All evidence of Link having any sort of a foul mood disappeared at the baker’s smile before receiving the gift whole-heartedly. Instead of a verbal thank-you, Link gave a small nod of respect before tilting his gaze to meet my own. When it appeared he was to hand me the bag, Link hesitated.
      Princess-”, Is he going to continue the formalities when we are married now? It was completely necessary to interrupt him then.“Zelda. ” His face paled for a moment.
      …Zelda, after our meal, if you don‘t mind, I have an errand in town that slipped my attention. ” My own brow raised in confusion, but I cast a smile and curtsied regardless. Link is certainly trying his best to…speak ‘proper’ to me. Yet, it nagged at my heart. What would keep a man from his honeymoon? Not that I was ungrateful for the chance to delay bringing up the subject for as long as possible.
      Shall you...um…” Oh, it was too awkward to ask such a question. Thankfully, Link answered for me.
      I should be done by twilight. Twilight? That was nearly all day. I smiled and replied a simple ‘ That is well’ before his arm found it’s way around mine and we continued to our table.
And that is all I have so far after cutting out a few possible endings to this scene.
