Hording these two types of items tends to be beneficial for those of us who plan to stick around for a while & know how to make a good few K off of free items on the marketplace.
If the items are good enough, as in they will age well in time, or have some form of gaian nostalgia. The chances of it's price rising to almost astounding heights during the holiday seasons, or simply during a specific month where they first appeared look pretty good. This is a good way of generating a large amount of gold while spending little, or non at all. I can't begin to tell you just how much gold something so simply could generate if done at the right time.
Hording could also be a good idea for monthly collectibles, & random item generator items alike. This is because when a item, let just say a recolor, or even a matching item comes out for an old item, monthly collectible or otherwise, the price of the original or anything related to it has a good chances of going up. I haven't quite figured it out yet, but the same can go for RIG items. Something you bought for 200k could easily go up to 700k, or more for the simply fact that an items of the same color has just come out, or the demand has gone up due to another influence.
One last thing about hording in general, especially if you have to spend gold on what you are hording. Always, always try to horde items you know you like, & would have little to no problem using in several different outfits. Otherwise the price could plummet for a bit making you feel that you just bought several items that you don't even like, let alone would use. Doing this will cause a lack of patients due to the intolerance of said items causing you to sell it for a lot lower then you bought it just as the price gos back up. Then you wont make a profit & the endeavor will leave a bad taste in your mouth in general.
I sincerely hope some can learn something from the above, although I'm sure some of the more experienced would have figured most of this out all on there own.
