Eve sat in the backseat of Damin's rarely used car. The vampire seemed to have gotten tired of her hanging out at the house. She got in his way too much with Herion trying to use his head as a perch.
So now Damin chose a simple way to get Eve out of his hair for the day. Drop her off at a friend's and then relax.
Herion looked around the car cautious and clung to his host as if for dear life. The car scared him more than he'd like to admit. Still Eve cuddled the shadow till Damin dropped her off at Loki's home. She hadn't seen him in a while and neither had her kitten who missed him.

Loki had been playing in the backyard with his most recent find; a Nemean Lion; a cub, that was. A full grown one might not have fit inside the house, after all, judging by the size of the cub. Already it was the size of a medium sized dog; with sabertooth sized fangs. It's claws were already huge--but its name, unfortunately, did not suit its scale of awesome.
"Be good, Kitty. I hear someone pulling up," Loki said, moving over to the fence so he could look over it. "It's Eve!" Loki's younger sister had named the cub, and despite the fae's attempts to change it's name, the beast simply would not respond to any other name. He opened the gate, waving to the reanimated ragdoll. "Hey Eve! Come on in," Eve had a shadow, he knew. Maybe Kelani and her shadow would become friends?

Herion glared at Damin's car as it drove away, annoyed that her uncle would leave her alone like this. Wasn't he her present guardian? Herion simply decided that he would still act like her protector since her family didn't seem to like one lately.
The shadow flew by her head, but followed the ragdoll to the gate. He looked at Loki with very clear distrust even though Eve had talked about Loki before.
Eve carefully held her little kitten in her hands, its purring showing that it wasn't afraid. Its name was now Kitten since Eve hadn't come up with a better one lately.
The ragdoll smiled, glad to see Loki wasn't too busy to play with her. She walked to the gate, "Hi, Loki. Thanks. Sorry for coming over like this. Damin got tired of me being around the house."

"Oh, it's fine," Loki said cheerfully. Damin didn't sound like the nicest sort; what kind of uncle tired of having their only niece around? "You can hang out here as long as you want. Mom won't mind. She's in the kitchen making lemonade right now, actually." With help, that was. Risa had been struggling to perform average mothering duties for several months--so with the help of various relatives (usually Thali, or Matthias) she seemed determined to do them.
"Is that the kitten I gave you?" he asked curiously. "She's grown a lot since last time I've seen her." He beamed and glanced over to Kitty. The nemean lion cub seemed interested in Eve; in fact the large-dog sized creature bounded over to the ragdoll and growled playfully.
"This is Kitty," Loki said, rather embarassed. "My little sister named him. He doesn't come to any other name."

Damin was the nicest and sanest out of her uncles, sad to say. He just was in the middle of making medicine for some of his patients and she kept distracting him.
"Thanks, Loki. How is your mother?" Eve asked after having heard from her mother that Risa was having trouble with being child at the moment. The ragdoll wondered how her mother knew about Risa's condition since the now ex-assassin didn't interact with the other parents very much. She chalked up it to Ivy hanging out with Thali and learning about it from the other elf.
She took a small step back when the cub appoached her. She was wary of things that looked like they could eat her with one to two bites. The kitten in her hands though looked at the bigger cub and mewed curiously. The kitten had never seen such a big member of her species.
Eve nodded, "I've been taking good care of her with the help of Damin and my mommy." She smiled at Kitty though she found the name amusing considering how big the creature was. "Interesting cub. Very cute, I think the name suits him a little. I have been able to come up with a good name for the kitten, so her name is Kitten at the moment.
Eve wondered how even a little girl could take a look at the cub and think 'Kitty'. Then again, Eve was odd herself.

Kitty sniffed at the kitten and rumbled; the large cub was purring. "Oh, she's alright," Loki said, frowning in slight concern. "Dad's been staying over and taking care of her, you know. They haven't really told us what's wrong. I think dad and mom know, but..." He sighed. "Dad's really worried."
"He won't hurt you," the fae promised with a smile. "He's a good... thing. I think he's some kind of giant lion, I don't really know. He's the first of his kind I've ever seen. I found him on Halloween, you know... with my shadow, Kelani."
At her name, Kelani appeared. "Lani?" she asked, looking up at Loki. "Kel? Lani!"

Kitten sniffed and mewed at the big lion, reaching out a paw slightly to touch his nose. "Mew!" Kitten thougt he was going to be a good playmate.
Eve smiled, "I'm glad to hear that. Damn's been worried about her." Damin has been to see her a few times when his father was out since the vampire doubted that he would welcome a vampire as a doctor for his wife. She looked at Kitty, "I think I read about his kind before. They are like lions.." She blinked when he mentoned a shadow of his.
Herion frowned at the mention of another shadow, but thought anxiously about how Luka had acted towards him. Perhaps he could make friends with this shadow and not be so alone? The winged shadow stayed on Eve's head, being cautious.

"I know. I've seen Damin over a few times. You know, I don't think dad would mind Damin coming to see her... I think Damin's a little afraid of dad and all, though. Can't blame him. Dad's pretty scary--but he's nice too. And at this point I think he'd be happy with any kind of help he could get for mom. Mom's the one scared of doctors--has Damin told you?"
"My mom says he's a Nemean lion," Loki said, shrugging. "That's why I think he's some kind of lion. She said there was a Nemean lion in Greek mythology, but in the myth, there's only one and Heracles killed it. It's said nothing can get through their fur." He stroked Kitty with a smile. "He's awfully soft, though. I don't think he's as dangerous as the one in the story."
"Lani?" Kelani looked up at Herion, smiling. "Lani Ni! Kel lani!"
