Tired paws kept moving forward across the barren savannah, the determined lioness marching on slowly and quietly. It was high noon, and the horizon of grass and dirt was becoming a wavering sight in the growing heat of day. There was no sight or smell or prey or herds nearby, but that was of no concern for the feline. For the moment, she simply wanted some refreshing water. Even if it was only worth one drop, she'd be delighted to come across it.
Peering side to side, Shinda took note of her current surroundings. She had wandered far from her last location, but her direction was aimless. She hadn't a clue where she was heading, since it didn't help that she'd never really seen her destined pride. She could only wonder if her mother and brothers had already made it there, to those swamps they'd always talked about. And if they'd made it there already, were they finally meeting with their lost father? The very idea made Shinda deflate sadly, having missed out on such an experience that she'd waited so long to have. And ever since she'd been separated during the monsoon season, she had little hope she'd ever fulfill that wish of hers.
Sighing both at her thoughts and the heat, Shinda moved to settle under the shade of a tree. The scent of hyenas was strong here though, so she made a perch for herself up on the lower branches. With chin resting on her paws, the lioness almost began to drift into a midday snooze.
