This is a private roleplay between Sakngea [audio fiend] and Enlei [danse-hexe].

Setting:

Sakn tries to work for his mother to keep his mind occupied, and Enlei gets close and personal with some fish.

It was midday, with the coolness of winter hinting at spring, and the sun shone down brightly on the warm stone road. The wagon clicked and bumped down the way, pulled by two fat winter mules, and Sakn's mother, Bopha, lead the way, a long stalk in one hand that she used to tap the mules when they acted out of line. The sound of her stalk was a hum that curled through the air lazily, tapping against the dusted fur of their mules.

His father followed after, reading off a list of orders, calling out fish sales as people passed them. Randomly they would stop and sell some of their fresh seaware, either to people on the streets or to restaurants and businesses that ordered, slowly making their way across the city.

And Sakn followed in the back, eying the city and thinking deeply. It was strange, today, just like the day before it. He felt free, unburdened, but deeply guilty and confused at the same time. For only three weeks before he had been under the control of a malevolent spirit named Hyun Chun, who had given him immense power in exchange for loyalty to her. A loyalty that caused him to fight friend and foe alike, a loyalty that cost him his humanity; stained his hands with blood he could never remove.

Thanks to a single girl, whom he had yet to find since then, Sakn had been freed of that promise. He was himself again, mostly.

The redhead rubbed his hands instinctively, and looked up to catch his parents both looking back at him. His father quickly looked away as his eyes met Sakns, but Bopha let her look linger, as she had every time she saw Sakn she he showed up a few weeks ago. It was a look of relief, worry, love, irritation. It was the look only his mother gave him. Sakn offered a weak tired smile, and his mother rolled her eyes and smiled back before focusing back on the mules, who had decided to wander when her attention was focused somewhere else.

She didn't know what happened from the time he left to the time he was exorcised, and Sakn dutifully kept it a secret. If he told his mother that, it would crush her. She had already seemed upset when he decided to give up his spiritual training and join the Nobles as a fighter instead.

"Las' one?" Bopha asked as Noreasky called out a restaurant name. The big man nodded, and the redheaded woman smiled, thankful it seemed to be done working after this.

The building was nice, well lit and high end, and Bopha soon disappeared to speak with the owner while Sakn helped the workers to carry the bundles and crates of fish and crab and other seafoods inside. And Sakn found that it was nice to work, to exercise his muscles and be using his own power and strength to do what needed to be done, instead of feeding off another source. The burn in his arms, the pop of his back, it was all so real.

Even when he stubbed his toe and cursed loudly, he cherished the moment, missing the pain that was entirely his own.

He whistled as he carried another crate in, and it was during this pleasant moment that the redhead lost his focus and didn't notice the small light-haired girl walking towards him, completely absorbed in her own world. He didn't notice until he felt her hit him (because it wasn't his fault!), and reacted to late to stop the crate from tipping over, fish sliding out like a waterfall of...well, fish.

Enlei was not normally so cheerful, but today was different. The sky was blue and cloudless, rare for a winter day. Earlier, she'd even woken up to the sounds of birds singing (okay, just pigeons cooing, but that counted too, right?) and all the signs pointed to it being a lovely, relaxing day.

Especially so because she didn't have afternoon classes today, and her mother had said yes to having lunch at the family restaurant. The family servants were adequate, of course, but there was nothing like eating her mother's hand-made dishes. Lixin would be busy overseeing staff in the kitchen, and sometimes even serving, if the customers were important enough, but Enlei didn't mind; whenever she visited the restaurant, she spent most of the time chatting with the other cooks as they prepared meals anyway. By this time she'd gotten to know most of them, and they were always friendly, if a little gruff.

A goofy smile on her face, Enlei turned the corner to get to the restaurant's back door.

Three things happened in quick succession. Something blocked out most of the sunlight. That something seemed to be a someone.

She felt something cold and slippery. A lot of somethings.

And then she screamed as loud as she could, ducking and bringing her hands up over her head to protect herself from.. from.....

fish?

A chill ran down her spine (and no, that wasn't the fish that fell into her blouse) as she stared at the small, floppy things on the floor. One of them flopped miserably on the ground, which drew her attention to a pair of feet in front of her.

The owner of that pair of feet, she decided, was in for it.

Sakn had not expected to run into anything. His plan had been simple. Take the box inside, drop the box of. Walk back outside, get another. Rinse and repeat. Yet, the plan had failed him, because there was most definitely someone in front of him.

Yes, Sakngea was most certain of this fact, for that someone had screamed rather loudly after he dumped fish all over her (surely not a man with a scream like that!).

This was not what he had planned at all, and now Sakn felt frustration tingling his nerves, and he growled, tossing the empty crate aside, so as to better see the person he had thoroughly covered in fresh fish. His eyes trailed down until they came upon a young girls. She looked rather furious, and her eyes glinted with steel. Sakn quickly reacted to her look with a rather defensive scowl of his own.

This was not what he wanted so early after Hyun; he wasn't ready to handle angry yet. Yet, he couldn't help but bristle ever so slightly under the girls glare. Though, as moments passed between them, the redhead's lips began to twitch. It was almost comical, and he could barely hold back the laugh bubbling in his throat as he stared at the young girl, all covered in fish and looking angry as the day is long.

"W-whu'--," he started, though quickly stopped because when he opened his mouth all he wanted to do was laugh. After a moment, Sakn managed to get himself together, he asked again, "Whu'sa young lady like y'urself doin' back here under workin' mens foots, hm?" the question was meant to be more condescending then it appeared, and instead came out as more of a gruff sort of amusement.

Every single happy thought had disappeared with the cold clamminess of the fish down her shirt.

Was one.. still moving? The young girl put her hand up to her mouth, trying to keep herself from throwing up... what the... what was this I don't even

Utterly disgusted and still trying to recover from the shock, Enlei looked up at her attacker, the hand over her mouth curling into a fist that she pulled back, ready to strike, but...

He was laughing. The nerve. He was laughing. Trembling with rage (and fish, because they were kind of ticklish, okay), she sized him up.. and noticed he wasn't wearing shoes. While she couldn't reach high... she could definitely go low, and..

STOMP. STOMP STOMP STOMP STOMP.

PUNCH. (for good effect.)

C-c-c-combo breaker!

Stepping aside, she glared at him. "I'm not under working boys' feet, you clumsy imbecile. My family owns this restaurant, and I'll see to it that you're fired, if you don't change your attitude."
