This means anywhere in the public domain that you can post your work. There are thousands of sites like this; I'm only going to list a few of my personal favorites.

FictionPress.com
livejournal.com

I will add more as I come across them. These four are great places to start, although once you advance to wanting more feedback and more reliable reactions, there are online and local groups available whose only purpose is to do exactly that.
