Watching his feet with a bland expression, Ailes wandered wherever they took him, his mind turned inward. He was still acclimatizing to things, he supposed. His family, which had been the center and stability of his youth, were splitting apart. His mother was taking many of his siblings to the far off Simba'futaji. He had chosen to stay with his father, though he still couldn't say why. And now, suddenly, his mother was gone, and he would have to grow up.
He knocked a pebble in front of his feet, watching it skitter along the dirt. If only he knew what to be, he could be it with all his determination. He knew he would throw himself into any job, if only he could decide. He'd never had trouble with dedication before; mother always said he was too serious for his age. Only, there wasn't much to do in Sanc. Was it his destiny to simply accept that, and learn to live peacefully?

Jokull didn't often venture near the Sanc. But the ferrier had dropped him off near where the Sanc border met the aristocracy's border. He sighed and shook himself, letting any excess water fly off his fur, and was about to start back home when a pebble skittered across his path. Raising a brow, he looked in the direction the pebble had come from...and noticed who had likely knocked it that way.
A young lion he didn't recognize, so likely one of the Sanc youth. The boy's mane wasn't fully grown yet, and he looked like something was bothering him. Hm.
"The Sanc is famous for happy citizens. So why aren't you among them?" The Soldier was intrigued.

Startled at the sudden voice, Ailes fell back as if he'd been rebuked. He looked over the blue male, trying to place him. Not of Sanc, but he spoke like one of the clans. Was he a noble? Ailes cursed himself for not paying closer attention. There were so many details to learn about his pride and the factions, but he'd never tried to memorize them, since he'd always assumed, on some level, that he would leave with his family when he matured. He'd have to start learning now.
"Sorry... Sir," he said, hoping the 'sir' wouldn't offend if the male was a high rank. "I've been distracted. I'm Ailes le'Croix, son of Nuit le'Croix by Pwani'wingu." He didn't give the whole lineage - which he knew because his father insisted - because he didn't want to put on airs. "My mother is leaving for her distant pride soon. I was contemplating that. I'll try to be happier."
