Emo crit activate
I know I already gave you a rough amount of a crit on the side but for me to update that emo tag I'll need to give you a full one. XD As always any questions I ask is more of a curiosity thing than a "you better change this or else". More often than not my concept of a crit is getting excited about a character and either rambling or asking questions.
Normal mode:Clarifying what school a kid goes to is a somewhat vital detail. It should be assumed a quick style description would be relating to what they wear when it is up to them. He was Apple right? On a positive an overly vague physical appearance can be good for a quest. It means they can legitimately be gained from a flatsale or simply let the artists have their way with them.
Powers should generally not be present in normal mode (some small degree of wiggle room may be allowed but on a case by case basis). Thus in reality the "voice" of Ninko that plagues him would be all in his mind or perhaps he is slowly loosing it. As an N aspect there is something about them normally deep down that is bad. Thus thus hearing voices or having dark impulses could be understandable.
Strengths and weaknesses: These look like a fun overall mix. It would be nice if there was a personality related strength since the point of this section is to make setting up RPs easier (thus posting only a character's cert would give enough information to very vaguely comprehend what types of RPs could be in).
Alone is a little vague. It is fine but when he gains a journal I would want some clarification on its meaning. It is confusing on if it is clarifying a lack of family, if he is a loner, or even that he mentally distances himself from other people and does not form close relationships. Adamant loners are very frustrating to get into RPs that aren't artificially forced (you can only have so many mandatory group work sessions for classes). Thus if he is a loner make sure he at least has a few interests or triggers that would make him approach and interact with someone. For a character to win a quest contest they need to be capable of being social in and out of school. I could see him for example calling people out when they seem to be going out of their way to offend his superstitions.
Color blindness is a very cool weakness to look into. On its own is perfect for a cert but it would be nice to know what degree of color blindness does he have. The partial variants are also rather interesting and could cause more funny antics than the full blown variant. It could be something to think about. (Note that there is no better option)
Magic mode:You already know how I feel about berserkers (yay). With your open to plotting note in the pairing section I can guarantee that Rakurai would want to be a diligent rival/bitter enemy. I love the dynamic between Lucaus and Ninko. The fact that he can transform without warning and then is a living aware captive in his mind for the transformation is nice and classic werewolf like. I find it to be an interesting hook and don't think many other magical people do that.
The powers are all fairly interesting to me and seem fitting. He clearly seems like the sort that relies on his claws first and the powers are to enhance that. Since his powers at stage 2 are very limited he is an
uncommon level kitsune. Generally monster aspects are only going to be rare if they have some abilities that we are trying to limit to only aspects of that name. Thus a rare level kitsune would have very limited disguise powers or something like that.
The stage 3 powers and upgrades seem very reasonable. There is definitely a step up in power utility and strength. Since invisibility and flight can be aspects on their own these will need to have drawbacks and weaknesses. Perhaps this would be best done with a time limit that could possibly become longer with training. I also think it would be funny if grabbing or touching his tail could cancel out the invisibility.
I like the tail removal weakness. When he does exist you would need to have a little warning/note/clarification that to be exploited in an RP it will require your consent. Thus it would need to be planned on the sidelines. Since this is magical people we are talking about you should also clarify if they pop off easily if someone is able to grab his tail or if it is as difficult as any other limb to sever (if it is a normal tail tail I would insist that being detailed is also a painful thing to go through. It is a personal pet peve of mine when folks don't consider that something like that would really hurt).
I could see someone really into cartoons or mythology openly think tail severing could do something beneficial and actively target it but for anyone else "hey i should cut off this dude's tail" is a really weird conclusion to come to. Unless Lucaus himself gives any kind of hint that his tail itself is related to his powers when asking for consent to lop it off I would also require (if I were you) an IC reason/train of thought on why they think it is a good idea instead of focusing on attacking something vital in the middle of a battle.
Since he is a fairly magical beastie you should think of a couple of elements or types of attacks that he is fairly vulnerable or resistant to. Getting damaged less by fire or clawing attacks could make sense for example.
