Zanazziite was liking the Negaverse. Yes, they were mean, and evil, and killed people, but she was appreciated when she brought in star seeds (not overly appreciated, but still she didn’t get yelled at so that was good enough for her) and she was able to go after the star seeds of bad people who did mean things. She'd only been a part of the Negaverse for a couple weeks, but she'd already gotten the star seeds of two people she knew were mean to their pets. It was a very satisfying feeling ripping a starseed from a person's chest.
She was looking for that particular feeling as she walked the streets, her brown dress swishing silently as she walked down the street. It was nearly ten pm and it was mostly quiet except for the click click click of her heels against the sidewalk. The teenager adjusted her gloves as she walked, violet eyes looking out from behind her glasses for anyone that would make a good target. She was planning on using the guise of being a lost little girl and asking someone for directions, then she could coax them into an alley way and finish them off.
Unfortunately for her it seemed the streets were empty. She was getting frustrated as she continued to walk and didn't come upon anybody, not even one of Destiny City's homeless. She began to wonder what the heck everyone was doing inside when a cat's yowl pierced her thoughts. That was not the sound a cat made when fighting another cat, that was the sound a cat made when it was getting purposefully hurt, usually by a person. Zanazziite kicked it up to a run, flying down the sidewalk even in heels.
She came to a stop in front of a semi-lit alleyway and a look of horror crossed her face. Two teenage boys were crouched next to a cardboard box that was covered with a towel and inside the box was where the yowling and crying was coming from. "What did you two do?!" Her face went from horrified to appalled to just plain angry, and the two boys barely took any notice, they were laughing too hard. "We tossed a firecracker in with a cat, isn't it great?" Zanazziite took a step forwards, a pair of moose antlers appearing in each hand. "YOU WHAT?!"
To say that Kremersite was feeling grumpy was an understatement; he'd been humiliated, beat down, and had a broken arm and some bruises to prove it. All because his Captain had not believed him when he'd mentioned he had a distinctly problematic.... problem with disposing of any sort of fuzzy little animal (including and not limited to guardian cats).
Needless to say, the outcome of the situation had not been too favorable for him, and he was feeling particularly bitter as he leaned over the edge of the building he'd managed to climb up (He'd figured that seeing as how he was at a physical disadvantage, hunting would be a lot easier from a high place where he could look down on the people below). The roof was pretty huge, but he'd chosen the east side of it, mostly because of the dark alley that ran below, just a story or so below (the building wasn't particularly high).
Still, he'd seen nothing and heard nothing, which meant the boy was growing exceedingly bored with his situation; he'd have much rather be out hunting. Waiting for prey to come to YOU was pretty stupid, if you asked him, and yet he'd been reduced to doing so. Breathing out a frustrated hiss of air, he turned to look off to the side, watching the lights far away (as far as the other buildings around him allowed anyhow).
The cat's yowl didn't really catch his ear, seeing as how he was purposely focused on trying to avoid felines and trying with all his might to find a human instead. However, when human voices cut through the air, his head lifted from where he'd settled it on the edge of the rail and he frowned.
Curiosity killed the proverbial cat, and he moved from his reclining position against the rail that protected the edge of the building, turning to walk across the large roof, till he could peek over the west side. He wasn't really sure what he'd expected to find, but it sure as hell wasn't what he saw. Growling low in his throat, (not to mention not really thinking things over - it apparently wasn't his forté), Kremersite took hold of the pumpkin he'd been carrying, as best as he could with his uninjured arm, took aim, and then launched it down bellow, aiming to hit one of the kids in the head.
He didn't stop there, oh no, of course not. Stopping there would have been smart. Instead, he climbed over the edge of the railing, and launched himself off the side of the building (It wasn't a terribly long fall; just a few feet), "CANNONBALL!" it didn't MATTER that he was probably going to get hurt doing that, and it certainly didn't matter that he was going to hurt the other kid, which he'd planned on landing on either.
Zanazziite was just about to demand they answer her again, but then a pumpkin came flying out of nowhere and hit one of the boys in the head, but instead of exploding it bounced off and fell to the ground. The boy that had gotten hit with the pumpkin was cursing and holding his head, apparently it was a painful pumpkin. The sixteen year old paused for a moment, looking upwards to see where the pumpkin had come from. Surely it just didn't fall out of the sky? Violet eyes narrowed and she saw a green haired boy jumping off the building. What the?! The night was getting progressively weirder, but she didn't have time to ponder that. The falling boy seemed to want to help, so she focused on the teenager that had gotten hit in the head.
"Playtime is over boys, you shouldn't have messed with the cat." She threw herself at the boy and swung with her right hand at the same time, the broad side of her antler smacking him across the face. Both Lieutenant and civilian fell to the ground and were grappling, Zanazziite was stronger thanks to the Negaverse, but she was in a dress which made it hard to do anything with her legs. Instead she was restricted to punching him, and trying to jab him with one of her antlers. She took a second to look up at the box which had stopped moving and that worried her. If the cat was dead...she didn't know what she'd do but it wouldn't be very nice.
Zan was so busy thinking of the revenge she'd take on him that she let up on the teenager she had pinned and suddenly she was on her back, and the guy was punching her in the face. "Ah, seriously?!" She growled, and tried to protect her face (mainly her glasses she'd be blind without them) with one arm, the other reaching out and groping around for an antler, or a rock. Anything she could use to hit him and get her attacker off. Meanwhile she was trying to buck him off, but she was 5'3" and 118 lbs, so she wasn't exactly making any headway in that department.
The landing had hurt. Even if he HAD landed on the boy he hadn't hit with his pumpkin... weapon thing (he didn't quite understand how the thing was meant to be a weapon and often times ended up dropping it and using bare fights - it seemed to more prolific). The impact had disorientated him momentarily, however, he was better off than the kid below him, given the fact said kid only managed to groan as Kremersite rolled off. Seeing as he figured he had the situation handled and totally under control, he turned to watch the other boy having some sort of wrestling match with a girl. In a skirt.
Despite tilting his head, the skirt was decisively too long, and didn't allow for much sight seeing. Specially not when the boy overpowered the girl (was she whacking him with some antler?! Just what the hell?!). It took him a few more seconds to sum up two and two to make four, and he made a small 'oooooooh' like shape with his mouth. He could have technically used this time to help the girl, but quite honestly, watching a girl fighting was not something he'd often time seen, and he'd been mildly distracted.
After it became clear the girl (another Lieutenant, he figured - the irony) was taking in one too many punches, he finally stepped forward, and used his injured arm to tap the boy on the shoulder. No sooner did the boy turn around, that Kremersite sucker punched him with his good arm, the cracking sound and the way the green haired lieutenant shook his hand indicating that he had, perhaps, used excessive force, "It's a lil bit easier if you skip all the foreplay and go in for the kill," he said, preparing himself to extract the boy's star seed.
Of course, he'd left the other guy unattended, and he chose that precise moment to tackle him to the ground, "Mother ********!" it was yelped in surprise as they both hit the ground, and though it pained his shoulder, this time he took his own advise and went in for the proverbial kill, pushing his mostly healthy arm into the boy's chest. When his hand retreated, the boy's boy fell limp over him, though Kremersite was apparently having a hard time getting the dead weight off of him, "Lil help here, will you?!" in his defense, he had one useless arm, and his other shoulder now hurt like a b***h thanks to the tackle.
Zan couldn’t find anything to grab, so instead she braced herself for the next hit- but it never came. The weight of the teenager was still on her, but he wasn't punching her. Opening her eyes she rearranged her glasses so she could see and was just in time to watch the green haired boy punch the teenager in the face. Her eyes widened a little bit but she smiled. She was opening her mouth to thank him but then the teenager slumped down (apparently it was difficult to hold yourself up if you were unconcious) pinning her, and the other Liuetenant was yelling.
She couldn't see past the body that was on top of her, but now that the teenager wasn't punching her she was able to use both arms to push him off. Heeding his words about skipping the foreplay (even if the thought of foreplay made her blush) and thrust her hand in the teenagers chest and extracted his star seed. The star seed was slipped down the front of her dress (it was the most convienent place, okay?) and then she was crawling over to the box, ignoring the yells of the green haired boy. "Hang on a second!" She knelt next to the book, making crooning noises. "Oh you poor thing," She carefully removed the towel and was rewarded with a paw swiping at her. Zan frowned looking into the box. "Now that wasn't very nice. I know those boys hurt you, but I'm not going to." She used her softest voice, cooing at the cat. After a little bit more coaxing she managed to get her hands in the box and wrapped very gently around the creature. That's how it had always been with animals, while they would attack pretty much anyone else they always seemed to warm up to her. She wasn't sure why, but she never complained about it.
Pulling the cat out of the box, she held him to her chest, he had several spots of burnt off fur and the end of his tail was badly singed. "You poor baby, you just hold tight and we'll get you to a vet." Continuing to cradle the cat close (the cat didn't seem to mind, glad to be out of the box, it was curled up against her chest) she managed to crawl over to the Lieutenant that had helped her. "Hey," She smiled. "Thanks for helping me." While she talked she pushed the teenager off of him with her free arm. It took a bit of a struggle, but after a moment it was done. "I'm Zanazziite. Sorry I left him on you for so long, I just had to help the cat first." She pointed to the cat cradled against her chest. "Are you hurt?"
Hang on a sec? Seriously? Hang on a sec?! She was going to make him wait after he'd gone out of his way to help her? Okay so... technically, he'd gone out of his way to help the howling beast in the box, but he'd still sucker punched that one dude that had been beating her - that had to count for something! Except... apparently not, because she was going to make him wait.
Making a small growling sound, which quite frankly resembled a frustrated gurgle, the green haired lieutenant attempt to move the body all on his own. It was proving to be a rather difficult task though, what with his broken arm in it's cast, and the fact that everytime he tried to apply force on the body, his other shoulder made him see stars behind his eyes. Growing tired, he sunk his knee into the body and tried to roll it off: being small was an apparent disadvantage when one was stuck under a dead weight that didn't flinch at your your kicks though.
Just when he was growing extremely agitated with the situation, the girl finally graced him with her presence, "Nevermind that! Just help me shove this jerk off of me!" nevermind that he was probably a far bigger jerk than that other kid had ever been. Of course nevermind that! Finally, the girl bent down and helped shove the dead weight off of him; no sooner was he free that he turned to snap at the girl, no doubt ready to berate her for just leaving him hanging there for so long. He probably would have shouted a few curses and growls had his gaze not been diverted to the small pile of fur that she was holding. She'd apparently made him wait in order to save the cat.
A long pause followed, and Kremersite felt conflicted. On one hand, it was good that she'd taken the time to save the beast; on the other, he sort of did not appreciate being put behind it's well being. Then again, he'd probably have done the same thing, so he really couldn't begrudge her, "I'm fine, I'm fine - my shoulder got banged up a bi-" he paused suddenly and narrowed his eyes at the other lieutenant, "What do I get if I tell you that I'm extremely banged up and it hurts like a b***h?" if he could get something out of it, then by all means! "Kremersite," he told her as he finally rose to his feet, walking over to where the pumpkin lay on the ground. He stuck the star seed he'd gathered into his pocket and picked up the pumpkin with his free hand, "You're new at this - you shouldn't pick fights where you're outnumbered. And you should totally always go straight for the kill,"unless there's a girl watching - then you should show off.
Also nevermind that he was pretty new himself (and hadn't been doing a great job, if his broken arm was any indication), "How is he?" apparently, he meant the cat in Zan's arms.
Once Zanazziite got the teenager off the green haired Lieutenant she sighed. "You know, you don't have to be so angry." Reaching up she wiped at her forehead with the back of her glove, wiping away a trickle of blood. There was a cut on her forehead just below her hairline. It wasn't too deep but it kept bleeding. She frowned at his wording, she didn't particularly enjoy being around people who cursed. It was such a horrid habit. "Uhm, I could take you to a hospital?" She wasn't sure what else she could do, whenever she got a booboo her Grandmother would kiss it and make it better, but she would feel awkward suggesting that to someone she just met.
Zan watched as Kremersite got up and gathered his weapon. "What was I supposed to do? Let them keep hurting him?" She slowly pushed herself to her feet, being careful of the cat she held. Looking down at her uniform she sighed, at least it was dark brown and all the ground in dirt and grime from the alley didn't show up that bad. She felt the energy from the star seed pulsing against her skin, she really wished she had pockets.
"Oh," She looked down at the cat, "I think he'll be okay, some of his fur got burnt off and his tail is singed, but if he gets to the animal shelter they should be able to fix him." Looking back to Kremersite she realized their eyes were on the same level and she grinned. "Hey! We're the same height." It was nice, to have someone who didn't tower over her.
A snort followed the girl's claim, "I'm not mad. I'm just irritable. Tends to happen when you're made to wait under a comatose dead body," despite the words he was issuing forth, he didn't really sound particularly angry. Specially not after he'd dusted himself and went to join her side, looking at the cat's injuries, "Eh, I think he'll live. No worries," a pause as he looked up at her and wrinkled his nose, "As for me, no thanks to the hospital. ******** hate the place. I've just gotten outta there a while back; not planning on going back anytime soon."
Apparently the girl was an animal lover, if the way she'd rescued the cat was any indication, and he'd already gotten payback for what the kids had done to the critter while being able to (sort of) show off in front of a girl (whom also happened to be a Lieutenant - yay!). Unfortunately for him, it seemed that he was either really unlucky with the girl he managed to get close to, or that karma had it out for him, because he'd decided the girl was perhaps even far too innocent to be part of the negaverse. Which meant he wasn't really going to get anything other than a smile out of the situation.
"Well, at least I got a star seed outta this whole deal. Done my 'homework' for the night, I guess," he was about ready to turn around and leave when the girl mentioned how they were the same height. For whatever reason, the boy winced, dropped the pumpkin he'd been holding and turned around, all in a flash, "I'm not small! Stop implying that I'm small, because I'm not! I can kick anyone's a** if I wanted to!" well, usually he could - his broken arm in a cast would have made it a bit difficult tonight.
Zanazziite took a step back when the other boy got all huffy. ”Okay, okay, sorry.” She held one hand up best she could while still holding the cat. ”Thanks for helping me.” And with those words she was jumping to the roof and taking off towards the animal shelter, cat still in hand.
