Batu yawned as he came out of the den first thing in the morning. Batu now had a den all to himself, he had shared with his father, or rather his mentor up until he was an adult but now he was all on his own. Of course Batu held an important position in the pride he had been appointed Mpelekezi for the pride. Batu was unsure of how many other mpelekezi where in the pride that was the whole point of the position. Batu had of course only been given this position to spy for his father. The father no one knew he had.
The large black and white male took a look around the pride not many members were up yet. Despite being a member of the pride since he was just a cub Batu hadn't really gotten to know anyone in the pride. He had always stuck close to Eztil and pretended to be his apprentice, he was always afraid that he would get outted as Eztil's son.

Delila flicked her tail as she gave a rather bored like yawn, Fin had left to patrol the borders early in the morning leaving her to her own device. Honestly she knew little of the pride around here, well there was her siblings whom she rarely bothered to converse in and of course Eztil. Her mother typically refused allowing her to interact with any other ranks however Delila was fond of them. She like the storyteller whom she had the habit of listening to as long as no one noticed she was there and then there was Jelani. Jelani was royalty himself however not of Eztil's or her mother's line instead he was related to those of past, though he wasn't all that entertaining.
Letting a soft sigh escape from her lips, she stretched and decided that making her way around the pride would be better than nothing, plus watching the sun rise across the sky was one of her most favorite scenes of the day.

Batu spotted the stripped lioness before she spotted him, or so it seemed. He watched her move as she walked around the pride, he was sure he had seen her before, the daughter of someone important in the pride, someone his father was worried about. Batu could never keep it all straight though, Eztil constantly had theories of who was trying to get him off the throne. None of them seemed to amount to anything though, Batu was sure his father was just paranoid.
Stepping out of the shadows Batu fell in line with the lioness as she walked. "Hello" he greated her, "Fine morning isn't it." he offered her a soft smile hoping he wasn't bothering her.

She seemed to be moving or so she thought rather effortlessly through the crowd unnoticed, but then again Fin wasn't next to her and Fin always seemed to know someone. For a non talkative lioness Fin seemed to attract anyone where as she felt she never seemed to attract anything other than whispers from others. A frown etched across her face at the thought however a voice that seemed to come from her side dislodged her thoughts and in away almost scared her half to death.
"Hhhello," she replied quickly trying to smooth over the fact that she had let her guard down and let him scare her. She glanced over him noting that he was familiar more so in the way she had seen him typically close to the side of Etzil not that she was a huge fan of the yellow colored lion.
"It is a rather wonderful morning sir, what brings you out? Usually I don't see you alone."

Batu felt bad he knew that he startled her, but she recovered quickly and Batu didn't want to draw attention to it so he just continues walking along beside her, listening to what she had to say. Batu felt bad because he knew that he had seen this lioness in the pride before but for the life of him he could not remember her name.
"Ah yes you speek of Eztil, till recently I was utterly dependent on him. He rescued me when I was just a cub, and I have been his apprentice ever since. I owe him a lot." the story was well rehearsed he had been practicing it since he had come to the pride many moons ago. He was worried that perhaps it was a little too rehearsed when he said it out loud now but there really wasn't anything he could do about that.
"I however am now an adult and thus more independent. I am trying to meet more members of the pride now. I was silly to wait so long, I feel that I have a lot of ground to make up no." he chuckled a little "I feel that I may be looked at as that strange black and white lion who never talks to anyone." Mostly what he said was true but he was also realized to do his job well he needed to get out into the pride and have eyes and ears everywhere.

Delila let a soft giggle escape, "I don't think you looked like a strange black and white lion who didn't talk to anyone though I guess maybe I had assume that you did talked to others and I just never saw it." She replied giving him a bit of a grin he seemed a bit more friendlier than Eztil had so maybe his roughness hadn't rubbed off on him then again her mother's influences never rubbed off on her. More so she was glad he didn't bring up her rather spooked look that she had first given him when he encountered her. "I mean I don't know much of Eztil other than my mother never being fond of him but I guess I just assumed he was never that great of a lion he always seemed.... angry?" She gave him a weak smile, "sorry I don't mean to talk ill of him in front of you if he helped you so." She knew better than mentioning affairs of what her mother thought of others however she did listen to her words of avoiding him.
"At least your trying to meet more members I find it hard to approach anyone then again most just avoid me unless Fin is with me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though considering.." she replied letting her sentence drift away without finishing it. She wasn't overall fond admitting she was part of the royalty of the pride it always made her feel alienated from others just because she was born lucky and others were not.
Shaking her head she gave him a bit of a nod, "I don't think we have actually formal met, I'm Delila Zahra, Delila for short."

Batu listened to what the lioness said about his father, Eztil... it was exactly the type of thing that he would want reported back to him, yet Batu suddenly found himself torn, this lioness had done nothing wrong and he knew if Eztil were to find out what she had said she would be punished in one way or another. And for the first time Batu began to wonder about what type of lion his father was, and if Batu really should be aligned with him. Clearly there was many sercrets i the pride that Batu didn't know about.
"Well I don't find you too scary to confront," Batu told her, of course he didn't know about her rolaty status, from what his father had always told him Eztil was the royalty and anyone else was just a pretender.... or something along those lines. But of course Batu never got be placed in the royal line, he was an illegitament child and a secret one.
"It is very nice to meet you Delila" he said using the short form of her name right off the bat, "my name is Batu. It is a pleasure to meet you." Batu really was happy to meet this lioness she was his first aquaintance in the pride, he would even go as far as to say that they were going to be friends.
"So Delila tell me more about yourself, all we have talked about is the pride and Eztil and really what fun is that." Batu said a chuckle in his voice. He was finding this time with the female to be really nice.

Delila had paid so little attention to the politics of the pride other than her mother's random rantings and her advice to avoid others. If she had paid any attention she would have known that the lion next to her was someone her mother had insist in avoiding contact at all cost seeing him as a rather right handed man to the bane in her side. However, so far to her he seemed little of a threat and he appeared to be generally friendly much like Fin did so treating him rudely was against her normal behavior.
"Well thats good, I think I would eventually find this pride rather boring without anyone other than Fin to talk to not that she makes bad company to say… more I expect her to eventually get a family of her own." Delila replied thinking about the brown lioness for a moment before giving him a small smile, "Batu it is a pleasure meeting you as well, I am sorry it has taken so long to do so."
A brow rose as the lion asked to talk about herself, it was rare for someone to ask her either they already knew her or they didn't really seem to care much about her or what she was interested in. Not that she had much to say about herself, she didn't do much nor did she feel like she was part of anything other another lioness there.
"I guess there isn't much to say about myself, other than I am fond of listening to stories and particularly fond of flowers. I can't say I do very much around the pride other than caring when I can though there hasn't been many cubs or others ending up ill. What about you Batu?" She replied hoping to hear more so of what others did than herself lounging about.

Batu smiled listeneing to what he heard the lioness say. She was a down to earth lioness from what Batu could tell. He enjoyed talking to her a great deal. His stomach turned a little when she asked about him, what did he do, where had he come. He was sure that she wanted to know all his details, details of course he could not give.
"Well I was an orphaned cub lost on my own. And Eztil found me out in the rouge lands he brought be here and raised me as his apprentice. Now that I have gotten older I have of course moved out into my own den and now I try to repay the pride back by being a cub watcher." Batu swallowed hard he had managed to get his 'stoty' out. He was fairly confident that he had gotten it all out properly too no problems or holes. But something inside the black and white lioned turned, he was unhappy with lieing to this lioness, she had been nothing but kind to him, and perhaps she had the potential to be his first real friend. His insides told him that he wanted to be friends with her, he wanted more maybe, but would he ever be able to tell her the truth?
Suddenly Batu felt a need to get away he had to think about this before he could make any decisions. He hadn't anticipated finding a friend that meant anything to him. And now he was suddenly finding all sorts of feeling stiring up inside of him. Batu bowed his head slightly "I am sorry to say Delila I have to be going now. I have some things to get done." He failed to mention that the things he had to do was think, he needed to figure some things out.

Delila knotted her brow as she heard him mentioned that he was an orphaned cub, true she wasn't overly fond of her own mother and looked to Fin more she wouldn't know what she would have done if she was completely alone. She had siblings, she rarely talked to them, but they were there and she still cared for them when they allowed her to but without them was another story. Despite her dislike from what her mother had told of her Eztil and what she had seen of him maybe her own opinion was a bit bias. At least he was kind of enough to take a cub in that had to show some sort of humanity didn't it? She was sure her mother would say other wise, but someone who could let a cub perish alone was a monster one who saved it could only be a bit of a savior.
"Well I am glad that Eztil brought you here and that you decided to stay Batu, I think it is rather generous of you to want to help pride," she replied with a smile, "I think it would bother me to know that an orphan cub was left on its on……. I don't know what I would have done if I was orphaned…….." she replied her voice trailing off before she shook her head. "I'm sorry, please if you ever want any help in cub watching I would love to help! I mean I don't really have much to do and I would rather put an effort in." She replied giving a soft nod to encourage him, but at the mention of him suddenly having to leave caused her smile to come out with only have the enthusiasm she had wanted it to be. She was enjoying his company and it seemed that something in her wanted to continue their chat instead of ending it so soon.
"I'm sorry you have to go, if you need any help please feel free to let me know. I hope to see you again Batu." She replied giving him another smile to dull her sudden ache of wanting to say no.

Batu bowed his head, he wasn't able to speak his head felt like it was swimming. He hadn't planned on meeting anyone in particular while he was out and about, but now here he was. He offered her a weak smile before he turned and headed back towards the den he now called home. He had a lot to think about and many decisions to make, it certaintly wasn't going to be easy.
