He was patched up as much as he could get without going to the actual hospital and trying to convince them that a wild animal had attacked him in city limits...he'd probably regret not going, for settling with what help he could find within the confines of the Negaverse but he didn't want to risk the questions it could bring.

There was one person though that he had to speak with before he could really feel he'd earned the rest and downtime he so very much wanted more of.

They had not spoken often in the past, he had impressed her, if only marginally just one time, he suspected that whatever respect he had earned had been dismissed with his personal frustrations.

But he wanted the help of anyone who could offer it, how to get better, what was he missing... besides the need to learn to fight better. Who better to ask than the people who surpassed you already... right?

And Linarite, she trusted Tanzinite, or so he thought, which made him doubly interested.

Tanzanite was sitting in the Negaverse subspace, looking significantly better than she had on the day they'd returned from Elysion. Granted, it would have been nearly impossible for her to look any worse. Wolframite's careful (and borderline obsessive) care of the General had paid off; her bruises had faded to a brownish-yellow, and the gray patches of skin on her arm were almost as black as the rest of it. She did not look healthy – it was almost impossible to look healthy when half of your body originated as a parasitic infection – but she certainly looked better.

It almost looked as though she was meditating, sitting cross-legged upon the floor of an empty room. Her eyes were closed, but they had never needed sight to tell them when another officer or a senshi was near. It was part of their training to learn to feel them, to understand the difference between energy signatures and use them to size up their opponents. This energy signature told her that a Captain approached, and a slight opening of her eyes revealed that Captain to be Zinkenite.

“Captain,” she greeted him casually, lifting her head from where it had been resting back against the wall.

"General..." He echoed and went still for a moment. It went so against the very grain he was carved from to ask like this, but he needed this. He needed this so badly he could almost see it, a tangible terror before him between him and his goals.

"I..." he stumbled over his own thoughts and then continued. "... would you help me...please."

One dark brow arched smoothly, and the General unfolded her long limbs. She lifted herself to feet slowly, stretching her arms above her head and bending backwards until her vertebrae made several small popping noises. She was curious as to what would ever prompt Zinkenite – or anyone else, really – to come to her for help. Of all of the agents of the Negaverse, Tanzanite had perhaps the weakest grasp on her sanity, the least control over her human life. She was a mess.

“Speak freely, Captain. As Captain Scheelite said,” she glanced at the wall as she spoke the blonde man's name, hiding the flash of emotion in her eyes, “We are a family, are we not?”

"Family is something you can't choose, or...sadly... kill without consequence." He paused and then added. "So I suppose in that light, you and he would be correct."

"I... Want to become a better captain." unspoken but so there, was that he wanted to become a GENERAL. "I need to lean more to better train my team AND to better serve the negaverse. You...are one of the most..." he paused, searching for a discrete word.
"Competently dangerous people among us... it, seemed reasonable to ask you for help."

Or kill without consequence.

Tell that to the Lieutenant whose heart she had eaten, Tanzanite thought, but immediately forced the image from her head.

Tanzanite seemed to have infinite patience as she listened to the Captain, watching with interest as he tried to explain his situation. While Tanzanite had little balance to her life, she had slowly become proficient in combat. It was.. well, pretty much the only thing the violet-haired General had those days. She lived for the war they waged against the senshi, but did so largely because she had nothing else worth living for.

“Then you have to start with that you're afraid of. What holds you back? What do you fear losing? Your life? The respect of your Lieutenants? What scares you, Captain?”

"Failure."

The answer was immediate and clearly personal. "Failure and judgement for that failure... that failing once will forever bar my from any other goals that I have either past or future..." His hands clenched into white knuckled fists.
He lacked what she seemed to have only, proficiency in fighting, he'd gotten good at dodging, a life time of it honed by night time 'combat' which for him had meant more verbal sparring than Physical, match him mind to mind he'd like to think he stood a chance at least, if not a damned good one, but he had to do better... or he may as well not have started at all.

“Well, that's an easy fix,” she said, “Fail the Negaverse and Queen Beryl kills you.”

Tanzanite had a strange sense of humor.

“You're going to fail, Captain. What matters is what you do with that failure. You either get scared and let it breed more failure, or,” she held the blackened hand out in front of her face. That had been the price of her own failure. She had failed to defeat Kunzite. Failed to kill the Zodiac Captain Aries. She had fallen to the cavalier's sword, and she had paid the price, “Or you learn from it. Adjust. Evolve.”

The General leaned back against the wall, watching her own black fingers, “The senshi get stronger over time, we must do the same. Even our weapons aren't enough, we need to know how to fight. Hand to hand. A broken neck kills just as well as a magical weapon. ”

"I'm TRYING to evolve" He said flushing with frustration. "It gets ... irritating when even my Lieutenants can -stiff arm- me out of any effective reach for fighting. I'm reading as many books as I can about trying to be a more effective fighter and they are CONCEPTUALLY sound but... probably one of the biggest...waists of time I have ever subjected myself to."
His voice was terse and he quickly checked himself for being perhaps too overly familiar, the serious side to Scheelite's informal coin.
He sighed, a heavy sound and closed his eyes and shook his head.
"I can think...all the strategies you want, I can plot... and Plan, but when it comes to the actual -fight- I am still a liability... I don't know where else to turn for that...except to my superiors... turning to you."

Books?”

The single word was twisted, spat from her mouth as though foul of taste. Tanzanite stared at him, wide-eyed in both amazement and amusement. It was surprising enough to cause the General to actually facepalm, her forehead resting in the palm of the youma's hand. It was the closest the youma's mouth had ever gotten to anyone's face without trying to bite it off.

“Captain, you can memorize all of the text you want, but fighting has to be your reflex. You can read every book on every martial art, but how is that going to help when your heart is beating in your throat and your entire body is shaking? You will not be fighting in a quiet library. What good is it to know the name of every kung-fu style if you can't even throw a punch? Books.

Tanzanite sighed, pushing herself away from the wall. She spread her feet to shoulder width apart and brought her fists in close, a defensive stance.

“Hit me.”

Her reaction clearly shook him, he looked offended, then embarrassed, and then just red faced as he tried to muster a defense for his books on fighting.
"If they were no good for that then why would people -write- them!" He floundered.
He took a deep breath and sighed, hit her,right...hit the single most dangerous officer in the Universe short of the General kings and queens... this wasn't going to end well.
Zink shifted his stance, the idea of it was sound at least though he needed to center himself better over his feet, he was prepared to move out of the way more than he was prepared to put any force behind the punch he was about to deliver.
He started to ask her 'where' he should punch but that seemed like an invitation to french kiss 'arm'...which he could do without. He wasn't even -positive- she wouldn't kill him...or the arm wouldn't... this would be interesting.
He Crouched suddenly trying to move around her defensive stance, tactical...that was good right? And tried to slam the side of his fist into the side of her knee. Better if he could take her down to his size...right?...Except for the armor part, yeah that hurt.

“Lesson one,” Tanzanite began, slightly amused, “Don't punch armor. Not that the senshi seem to have much of it. Or much clothing at all.”

Said the woman who could have been entering a bikini contest from the waist up.

Writers write books, Captain. Fighters fight.” It was an incredibly simple statement, but the point behind it was one that Tanzanite believed to be true. There simply was no replacement that could compare to just throwing yourself into the fray and hoping you lived long enough to learn something. It was the way she lived, and in one particular situation, it had been the way she died.

The armored foot came out in a hard kick, enough to push the Captain back.

“There, now you've failed, and embarrassed yourself in the process. You should be disappointed. You should be angry. Now use it, and hit me.”

He stumbled, flushed with fury so hot it peeked over the dark line of his mask, eyes narrowed as he struggled with the fury rather than utilizing it. He had much to learn...still he tried to couple calculations with the rage as he moved in again at a slight angle trying to strike at her midsection. Aim at least for what he could hit with some force rather than loosing it to upward angles...right? No that was the book again, doubt crept in at the angles and turned the punch just off center from where he had aimed. Better, but 'too much thinking' prevailed.
Zink was far from a natural pugilist.

The blow hit to the left of Tanzanite's stomach, glancing against her lower ribcage. It was enough to draw a sharp exhale and a small wince, but not enough to bring the woman down. The General used the opportunity to grab Zinkenite's arm, using both his own momentum and the youma arm's exceptional strength to try and whip the Captain around and send him flying towards the far wall.

“A missed attack is an opening for your opponent. It leaves you defenseless. A good fighter would have taken you out. Castor or Ares would have broken your neck just now. It is not just your own life that you are fighting for, Captain. It is Scheelite's. Alkaid's. Wolframite's. Mine. When you fight, you fight for all of us. So stop thinking about it and start feeling it.

Again.”

A stifled curse after he regained lost air, Sore shoulders, left over aches and pains rekindled as he was slammed off the wall and brought in turn to his knees. Irritated, angry, at himself, at the pain, even her for humiliating him with a conflict inside as to if he deserved to be so abused. Part said a furious no.. part said he'd asked for just this.
He almost said "I'm trying" but this was not a fight for words...those he was comfortable with...this was serious.
Don't think... wasn't the very act of thinking that...thought? Zen state of mind, it always drove him a little crazy. Shut up... he told himself and attacked again. He used the wall, risky, far more risk than he liked to take in any fight, leaving the ground meant even more momentum if they could catch and throw you, and he was portable enough on his own by merit of size and weight. Off the wall, twist and lashed out with a boot at her unguarded skull, don't think, don't think... he tried hard to keep his focus on target, One hand opened, waiting to grapple should the opportunity arise...
