User ImageAdrian was currently seated on a sunny rock, enjoying the rays of warmth shining down on him from above. Winter had finally broken a few weeks ago and finally everything was green again. He shuddered, winter was his least favorite season. If it was up to him it would skip from fall to spring. It was the flutter in him that made him hide in the cave all winter long, ignoring the coaxing of his father and sister. Only leaving to take care of the necessities and to fly briefly on the warmer days, Adrian had spent a miserable 3 months hidden as far back into Ignis' sanctuary as possible.

A warm breeze picked up and pulled at the feathers and trinkets adorning his long orange hair. With it, the breeze brought the scent of wildflowers and Adrian inhaled deeply. It was one of his favorite scents and he was tempted to leave his warm perch and investigate. Could the day get any better, he wondered. It was warm again, nothing was bothering him at the moment, and he was about to go bask in the scent of spring wildflowers.

With that thought in mind, he reluctantly rose from his place and made his way towards the delightful scent.

User Image "Petal!" Shalar called in frustration as his little mouse ran off. She was starting to become far more hassle than she was worth, he had enjoyed his own company before her, had enjoyed wandering aimlessly just to simply be alone. Yet now, with her constantly following him or wanting him to follow her he found himself exhausted. "Wait up!" It seemed she had a liking for flowers too. Shalar had always felt drawn to them, the same way a butterfly was, and in many ways he was like a butterfly. The outside of his large wings blank and plain while the inside was doned with a thosand colours and patterns, he wore flowers in his hair whenever the opportunity arose -and it was currently laced with roses that his sister Nienna had collected for him.

He sighed and looked at the soft colours of the early blooming wildflowers. Oranges, yellows, blues. All with subtle but delicate scents mixing to make an intoxicating aroma. He closed his eyes and took in the magnificence of it all.

Of course his peace was quickly disturbed by Petal tugging on the hair around his hooves. "Ouch." He yelped and glowered down at her. As always she looked at him in that 'I'm innocent - butter wouldn't melt' look that drove him crazy and made him growl. "What Petal?" She usually only used it if she wanted something, and being the sucker that he was Shalar usually tried to give it to her. She giggled sweetly before replying, "I want to explore. Wait for me here?" Exasperated Shalar simply nodded, pleased to watch her leave to 'explore', though Shalar suspected she had alternative motives for wanting to be alone. Not that Shalar was complaining.

He slowly lowered his delicate form -due to the flutterblood running in his system- and sat amoung the flowers simply enjoying the peace and the quiet. He didn't know how long he had been sitting there when he heard something.... his eyes automatically turned to the source and saw.... a boy? It was hard to tell what lay benieth that large hair and the ton of accessories he wore, but Shalar was sure that his features were much stronger than that of a mare. His wings were strange to, a combination that didn't seem to match.

Adrian only had to travel less than a hundred yards to come upon the field of flowers he had smelled on the wind. It was truly a sight to behold. There were hundreds of delicate flowers in the rather large field and they bobbed and danced in the wind. The scent of them curled around him and made him smile to himself. This was truly the most perfect day.

It would grow more perfect it would seem as he spied a being sitting amongst the flowers. She was as lovely as the flowers around her, he thought. Her lavender hair spilling around her face and the roses woven into it only served to enhance her looks. Her unique wings intrigued him and he wondered what two beings had come together to make such a beautiful creature.

He smirked to himself, this would be a good day indeed. Making his way carefully over, he approached the lovely mare in the center of the field of flowers.

"Well hello there beautiful, that is your name right?" he asked, his voice deep and what he thought was alluring. That was a line that usually had mares blushing and giggling at him, it had never failed him.

Shalar's ears flickered at the new sound, it was a rich sounding voice, but the words.... well they irritated him. Not sencing a threat Shalar simply turned his head away.

What was this stranger doing? Shalar wasn't gay, nor did he appreciate being called beautiful.... that was a compliment for a mare. He growled low in his throat wondering if the stranger was trying to pick a fight with him? Or worst... trying to get him to being his partner? If so that left Shalar with two options, leave or ignore him. If it came to fighting Shalar wasn't scared, he had trained to protect his family after all and was confident in his skills. Yet at the thought of taking a male partner? Well that terrified him, to the point that he was sure he would have been shaking had he not trained for excellent control over his body.

However Shalar decided that perhaps leaving would be best, he stood to his all fours and then remembered something.... Petal. He nearly cursed under his breath, the creature was missing which meant that Shalar would be forced to wait for her, he scanned the area- hoping that she would be near..... nothing. He closed his eyes, regaining his calm for a moment before his eyes turned to the stranger once more. Perhaps interacting would be the only option he had left. "Shalar." He said it matter-of-factly, that was after all his name. Shalar was a stallion of few words, prefering silence, though he did always make an effort around his family and Petal. His voice had a slight musical quality to it despite hardly getting used. And as far as Shalar was concerned it was a very 'male' voice.

Adrian could almost hear the crickets in the silence he was met with. Well, that was the last time he used that line. The lovely mare stiffened and looked like she was going to leave. He frowned to himself, he didn't want to scare her away. He was clearly coming on too strong.

As the mare seemed to be looking for something, he began to sweat. She wasn't leaving, but he could tell she was highly uncomfortable with the situation he had put her in. He instantly felt bad and made to apologize and introduce himself properly when the mare spoke.

Odd, she had a very deep voice for a female, "I'm Adrian. I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable, miss. I was just trying to pay you a compliment."

He hoped she forgave him. He hated to think he had offended anymare.

"Miss?" He sputtered at that, "Did you just call me Miss?" Shalar turned to look at the boy with wide eyes. It was one thing to be considered gay, but to be considered a girl? He gasped and his breath stilled in his throat.

He growled, feeling very annoyed at the colts assumption, "Adrian right?" He said raising an eyebrow in anger. "Let me tell you something, and I will say it nice and slow so you understand. I -- AM -- A -- BOY!" He blew hot air out of his nose and glared at the colt.

Shalar knew that he was girly in looks, after all it was his sisters that dressed his hair, but Shalar had always maintained a belief that his features were strong and masculine. Perhaps it was his fathers fault? After all his father was pink and his mother white in colouring.

Just another thing to blame Nisroc for.

The blood drained from Adrian's face as the words of the mar...stallion, sunk in. He blinked in bewilderment for a few seconds, "Uh..."

He was having trouble connecting the dots it would seem. Tilting his head sideways slightly, he squinted. Now that it was pointed out, the one across from him had an awfully strong jawline compared to a mare and he was a lot bigger. Well.

"Uh. I...sorry? I thought..." he tried to find something to say to the angry stallion but nothing came out. Adrian realized he'd been hitting on a boy. His eyes widened and his mouth dropped.

"You mean...are you sure?" he finally managed. Then mentally hit himself. That was a stupid thing to say. Of course he was sure.

"No...of course you are...I uh...well, the hair. The field of flowers...yeah." he finished lamely, just wanting to curl up into a ball and sink into the ground. This was mortifying.

Shalar watched at the colt tried to convience himself of what he was hearing, and the way he asked Shalar if he was 'sure' only added to his frustration. OF COURSE HE WAS SURE! He had two sisters, he would have known had he been one of them, may have actually made things easier had that been the case. It was strange at times being the only boy really, considering he wanted nothing to do with his father.

He knew that the boy had a point about his hair... but what was wrong with the field of flowers? Shalar looked around and then back to the boy. "Flowers?" He almost coughed and choked on the word, "You thought I was a girl because of the flowers? When you yourself are here too?" He raised and eyebrow and found his wings opening on their own to reveal all the wonderful colours and patterns that were hidden on the inside just like a butterfly.

With a roll of his eyes Shalar decided to make the boy even more uncomfortable. "I must say..... you do look very girly yourself. Perhaps I will simply call you mare."
