Like every year, my band learns our show theme in early february. This year it's going to be based off of The Giving Tree, by Shel Silverstein! We don't know anything of what the music will be like yet...but that's a good thing, because my band director just interviewed a new music arranger for us, and asked him if he'd be writing our show from scratch, and he was excited about it. :] Apparently the show will be very literal, though- we're going to have a lot of props based off of trees.
So, that's all I know for now! How about other people's shows?

That sounds like an awesome theme the rumor in our band is that its going to be a cirqu du soleil show either Ka or Journey of man but it isnt final yet. Edit: Our show is going to be Ka I'm somewhat upset because the music is easy but hey maybe that means the drill will be hard

My high school's doing a patriotic theme, a sort of tribute to our fallen (we've had eight fallen former students since the War on Terror began, and our school colors are red and blue). The music is okay at best, mostly original with some melodic stuff the general public would recognize. Although it's a break away from Key Poulan music, I don't know that it's a step in the right direction for my high school. I don't like the idea of competing with a patriotic show, unless it's got a central story around it, such as Lemoore High School's 2010 WWII show theme. It's something I'd rather see performed as a half-time show or pregame show in honor of our troops, as opposed to something to compete with... Aw well, I hope they do alright anyway. As for corps, that's a secret until June. ;P

We know our show, but we don't actually start until May(well, guard and percussion start in March...). We're doing The Pyramids of Egypt. I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it, but it does sound good. Also, it's MOAR triangles! 8D [/last year's show was Bermuda Triangle]

Well, we may or may not have the same band director next year. At this point, the band kids are all quitting because they don't like her, but because everyone is quitting, the chances of us getting a new director are lowering. So it sounds like we will be having a choir dirrector for a second year.
Anyway, if Harris is our director next year, we will be doing a Heart and Soul theme. It sounds alright, like we would have a cool effect with a beating heart shape on the field, but I was kinda hoping for my friend's suggestion of Phantom of the Opera, or my age-old dream of a Pirates of the Carribean or a classical themed show(she dont like classical marching shows....) But she will more then likely be writing our drill for next year. I'm kind of excited for a new drill writer, but our old writer was pretty good and was great at writing complicated looking easy drill.

Hmm.. We have our music for next year and our band director has already been talking to our marching helpers/instructors. I'm not sure if we know what theme yet though. Someone said something about the elements. I don't know yet though.

All that my high school's director has said is that they're going to play a "dark" show with music from The Dark Knight in it. I've never actually found out about a shows theme before percussion camp before. xD
As for my college's half-time show... I have no clue, but it had better be awesome. |:/

Just figured our show out on Friday.
We are doing "Oz" Mosis.
A medly of songs from the Wiz, the Wizard of Oz, and Wicked.
The gaurd as arguing what they were going to be, aka who was oing to be dorothy and who was going to be the witches, or munchkins. It was amusing.
And ^_^ there is a flute solo biggrin

well, i'm not sure what our show is actually going to be called, however, it does have a winter theme. because our band director writes all of the music, we haven't heard it yet, either. haha. not too informed...
but i do know that Carol of the Bells has been laced several times throughout(:

This is possibly our last marching band season, so we are doing The Nightmare before Christmas. It's appropriate, considering Championships are on Halloween.
